  • Keynote presenter tools -- limited view to next slide only

I can't seem to be able to see all potential slides available in the presentation tools for Keynote. As opposed to ppt, where you can see all the available slides and move around dynamically as needed during an organic presentation, keynote is only allowing me to see the next slide.
I can't find how I fix that to see all available slides in the presenter tools. Anyhelp?

You can set the duration of each slide by going to the audio
editor and inserting silence that is the same duration as the swf
    that you are loading.
You could also import the audio right in to Presenter using
    the audio editor.
I recommend the latter, because synchronization can be an
    issue.
    Hope that helps,
    Jeremy

  • Encore vs Powerpoint-Presenter tool

I give alot of presentations which include text slides, photos slides and video slides. Is it viable to replace Powerpoint or Apple Keynote with Encore as a presenter tool. Its just a little frustrating to work on my projects with Adobe After effects, photoshop, Premeier Pro and  then have to output my final product to Powerpoint.

    Thanks for your timely response.
Yeah, I knew it was Flash. My client didn't. That's why I wrote, "It's not a DVD. It's Flash" :-D
That's very sage advice, and I had been noodling with Encore for the better part of the day yesterday before I posted my query. That's how I came up with the list of questions in my post. These are things I couldn't get Encore to do. What I'm still trying to figure out is is it because I don't know something, or is it becasue Encore doesn't do "that" in the way I think I want it to. I've been searching the manual(s) and tutorials. I can get close, but I haven't yet found exact answers to my exact questions that way.
I'm still not certain that they are really expecting it to be "just like last year", aka, the disk I used to supply the screenshot. I'm just trying to figure out what the differences really are, how I can sell doing it in Encore as "progress" because using a browser as the presentation platform is a better end-user experience than producing an entire Flash project, or if I can even make that argument with a straight face. With the options now available throgh Encore, is it a better solution for this project, even if I won't be exactly what they saw last year. Lastly, I'm also trying to divine what kinds of questions doing it in Encore might bring up from my client's point of view. If/when my client comes to me and says, "This is different, why?", I want to have an answer more than shrugging my shoulders and sayin', "I dunno. I couldn't get it to do that."
Thanks again for time and thoughts,
    deb

  • [Request] Showoff, a ruby-based presentation tool

Some time ago, I tried to package showoff. This is an awesome presentation tool written in ruby:
    http://github.com/schacon/showoff
I'm not a ruby guy at all. After some time I figured out it is not compatible with ruby 1.9, so ruby1.8 is required. In the meantime I already uploaded the package to AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=37005. This package should be ruby1.8-showoff and not ruby-showoff, and I tried later to package it with ruby1.8. The installation itself seems to work but when I try it with an example (http://github.com/schacon/pycon-hg-git for instance) I get a ruby stacktrace (the server initializes fine but dies when I try to display the presentation in a browser).
    So, the request would be:
    - Could anyone with enough rights on AUR remove ruby-showoff? It doesn't work at all, I'm sorry for having uploaded it without proper testing...
    - Any taker for trying to package it successfully and with the correct ruby1.8-* dependencies?
That would be really awesome. Some ruby knowledge is probably required :-)

Ok, self-answering... I tried again with other presentations and it worked fine.
The package at http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=37005 still needs to be deleted, I can upload the working one (ruby1.8-showoff) and its dependencies if anyone is interested.

  • Since I put Mountain Lion on my MacAir my PowerPoint and Keynote Presentations freeze up when I am presenting.  This is so unacceptable when I have 75 - 500 people I am presenting in front of.   I can no longer use my presenter tool either.  Is there help

Since I put Mountain Lion on my MacAir, my Power Point presentations freeze up when hooked to an LCD projector.  I can no longer use my presenter clicker tool that moves my slides as I walk among my audiences.  This is totally unacceptable in the kind of work that I do.  The Genius Bar person told me to try Keynote but that is even worse.  I wanted to go back to Snow Leopard but because I have backed up my information on an external hard drive she said I cannot go back to Snow Leopard.  Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?  I have several presentations coming up in the next six weeks.

You need to move to Windows 7, because Apple is now releasing a new OS X version annually and it's playing havoc with people's hardware and software.
Windows 7 will get support until 2020, that's 8 years of software stability, however you do need to make System Restore disks, boot disk and another on a hard drive to self restore (like TimeMachine is for OS X)
Apple has no plans to change their currrent behavior as all they care about is selling new hardware with a shiny new OS X verison on it.
If you wait to move, what will happen is you'll lose that full 8 years and will have to swtich to a newer Windows sooner
Windows 7 machines are still widely avaialble, despite Windows 8 (a failure) being pushed currently.
Running three OS X operating systems on one machine is quite a chore reserved for only seasoned computer geeks, then it's only going to last X months as the next OS X version will be released, then the next a year after that.
Another method would be to get a virtual machine software (virtualbox is free) and install Windows 7 into that to ease your transitition if you cant' spring for a Windows 7 machine, preferablly a tower that will last a long time.
Here is a method to run Snow Leopard in Parallels, however it's a unapproced hack and not for the comptuer newbie.
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1365439
We have no control over Apple's OS X release cycle, nor the third party developers who make their own decisions what to support.
Our only choice as users to stop using both products and seek software/hardware stability.

  • I want to use 2 ipad 2 devices to present in a one-on-one situation.  I would hand an ipad 2 to my customer and go through a presentation controlling what he/she sees with my ipad 2.  Is that possible?

I want to use 2 ipads 2 devices as presentation tools in a one-on-one siuation.  I want to cotrol what my customer sees on his/her ipad2 (that I would hand to  him/her) through the ipad 2 that I would be using.  Is that possible?

This IS possible. Take a look at Fuze Meeting HD and Mobile Presenter Pro on the App Store. Fuze Meeting HD was featured in an iPad commercial, in fact.

  • How do I lock my presentation on to the screen?

    Hi there,
I have an event coming up where I'll have a stall and I want 3 iPads and stand to be around the stall. I've put a keynote presentation together to allow people to come up to our stall and interact with the iPads so that they can get information about what we do. The only problem is, is that I'm using a lot of hyperlinks in the presentation so that it is acting as more of a website or an app than a powerpoint. Because of this people who may accidentally click off the buttons (hyperlinks) will go onto a different slide and at worst maybe exit the powerpoint altogether.
Basically, It would be brilliant if there was anyway that I would be the only one to get off of the presentation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

This is the Mac discussion, however to set a link only presentation on the iPad:

  • Is there a way to toggle to a web browser while in Keynote presenter view?

I teach at a number of research classes at a University and I prefer to use Keynote as a teaching tool. My teaching requires that I access websites regularly throughout the the class.
Here is what I'm currently doing:
    1. Before the class starts, I open each website we'll be using during the class as window and assign the window to it's own desktop. So if I have four websites the students will be accessing during class, I'll assign those four websites to four distinct Mission Control desktops (I'm using the 10.8.4 OS X).
    2. I run my presentiation from Keynote using the play key, but without access presentation mode.
    3. When I need to access a website while teaching, I [ALT]-[TAB] out of Keynote, select the appropriate page from Mission Control, and demo that page.
    4. When I'm done, I simply click the Keynote icon in the dock and resume my presentation.
This system works and I have no real complaints with it - except that I cannot take advantage of Keynote's presentation tools. I've tried any number of ways to toggle to a web browser while in presention mode without success. While in presentation mode, if I [ALT]-[TAB] out of the presentation, it simply stops the presentation and the web page doesn't appear on the projection display (because I'm not mirroring my displays) and the only way to get it to work is to re-mirror my displays.
I tried using the X command in Keynote, which is the toggle between displays, but no matter what I did, I cannot get the webpage to show up on the projection display.
Is there an easier way to do this? Bear in mind, I'm not merely showing webpages, but I'm actually interacting with them (performing research on these pages) so they have to be operational. Right now I'm assuming presentation mode is just not going to work for this kind of scenario.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

place as many shapes as you need on a slide and create a hyperlinks to your website
Keynote preferences > slide show;    select  >  allow Expose and others to use screen
select the shape and in Inspector > Hyperlink; select the enable as hyperlink box, then type in the address
use alt > tab to go back to Keynote
before playing Keynote, open and move the web browser on to the projector screen to position it ready for use

  • Having trouble recording a video using Presenter 9, inside PoswerPoint installed as part of MS Office 10, PP version is 14...

The Presenter add in opens up just fine.  I can do most everything with the Presenter tool bar, including recording and publishing audio for the slides, but I get an error message when trying to use the "Video" recording function.  I have a screen shot of the error message if that would help,   But is basically says the "Application encountered and internal Error.  If the error persists, contact someone."  Adobe support is useless on this issue.  Does anyone have any ideas?
I DO NOT have two monitors set up and the button labeled "Use Presenter View" is unchecked.

Check that your video drivers are up to date.

  • Error message in Powerpoint when using Presenter 8

    Can you help?
I have Windows 7 SP1, Office 2010 and have repeatedly tried to install Presenter 8 without getting the error shown below. As soon as I try to use a Presenter tool within Powerpoint I get this message.
Each time I have uninstalled Presenter and reinstalled after a reboot.
    Thanks for any suggestions

    Hi Vikram

  • Change presenter note font size and edit notes in slideshow mode

Hi, I just switched to Keynote 5.03 and am still learns its features. I have some questions about the slideshow mode of keynote
    1. While in slideshow rehearsal mode with presenter notes showing, is there a way to zoom in on the notes to make the text bigger as you can in Powerpoint, which allows you to zoom up to 400%? This is handy: I can magnifying the notes without having to change its font size, hence no need to exit the slideshow mode.
    2. Powerpoint lets you edit the text of notes on the fly during a slideshow ("view presenter tool" mode), is there a way to do this in Keynote?
    3. The slide thumnails (allow you to jump to a certain slide) on top of the presenter screen are always very fuzzy, is it possible to increase the resolution to get a higher quality image?

I believe that all of these are limitations of the current version of Keynote.

  • Presentation

I've used PowerPoint for the past 10+ years, and only have recently converted to Keynote '08 -- so my familiarity is heavy in PowerPoint not Keynote, so forgive my naivety.
    I think I have discovered a dilemma:
When I have an external display hooked up (projector) and i want to be able to view the presentation on my computer and also the projector, I am only able to view 2 slides on the computer (more if i hit a # and am able to 'theoretically' scroll though the show [3 slides at a time], yet can barely read the slides since they are at the bottom).
What if the person presenting skips around in their presentation, how do i follow?
I realize I can do that if I 'print out the show' that's rather archaic (and rather anti-green).
Is there a function similar to PowerPoint 'Slideshow / View Presenter Tools' where I could view all the slides in the Show and then select as needed if/when the presenter skips around?
    Please help / Thanks
    p.s.
    Michael is ******

Keynote is setup by default to show something called a presenter display on your main display, and the actual show on your secondary display (the projector).
Go to System Preferences, then Displays, then arangment. Next check mark the box labeled Mirror displays. You will see the exact same thing on both of your displays.
*Note, you can only access this when you are connect to your display or projector.

  • Keynote and Microsoft Wireless Presenter Mouse 8000

    Hey folks,
i seached on this in the forum, but actually did not find any hints about my problem.
So I switched from PowerPoint to Keynote some weeks ago and got to do my first big presentation with Keynote in some days. I am amazed by the possibilities Keynote offers.
Still, I am stuck with a problem:
I am using the Microsoft Wireless Presenter Mouse 8000 with its original MS drivers. I am just amazed by that piece of hardware. For those who dont know it: Its a Laptop Mouse which you can flip. On the downside, you've got presenter controls like Forward/Back/Play/Louder and a laser pointer button. You can easily switch between mouse mode and presenter mode, so you dont hit mouse buttons accidentially when presenting and vice versa.
With PowerPoint, it just works as it should. With Keynote, it doesn't work. The only thing that works it to change the volume and the play/pause button. Anyway, Keynote does not react to it.
    Somebody encountered that problem before?
    Thanks
    Thorben

I'm running into that problem right now. I really like the mouse, but I've got to get it working with Keynote, else, I'll have to return the product.
I've tried using Steermouse, but it doesn't seem to be able to remap those those "Presenter" keys. The analysis is able to read the button presses, but the driver isn't able to remap.
If anyone knows of a workaround, please let me know! I'll try Applescript and some other things, but I'm about to give it up and just get a separate presentation tool.
    Thanks in advance.
