Preset Folders

Is there a way to put all the presets that came with LR into a folder? I seldom use them and would like to shorten the preset list.

Did you move the presets or the photos?
LR looks in one dedicated folder for the presets and alike. You can check the location of this folder from the preferences dialog (.. open folder ..).
If LR can not find a photo it show shows the exclamation mark. Right-click on the photo and select the option to relocate it.
Before doing this, please check in the folder panel if one of the folder has an exclamation mark. If yes, right-click on the folder and update it's path before doing this for every photo.
Keep ion mind that all file handling should be done from within LR, and never with finder.

  • Preset folders missing lr 5.7

I have lr 5.7 running on a macbook pro.  running osX 10.9.5  i'm an experienced LR user.
I was importing new presets from onOne software.   I have a lot of presets.  some time during the process,  I have lost the links to
most all my preset folders from the Presets bar. on the left side of the window, in the Develop module.   if I go to finder and search for "lrtemplate"  I
seem to find all the folders and presets, yet LR doesn't show them?  Also it seems no matter what catalog I open,  the photos are now marked as "missing"  "!"
but I can go find them again on my hard drive.  how do I get LR to recognize all my previous presets.   I have  rebooted my computer, and
also restarted LR several times.    how do I  fix this?
    thanks

  • Photoshop CS5 preset folders empty

Went to load and or reset crop tools, brushes, etc... and when I navigate within CS5 to those folders, all are empty.  If I navigate not from Photoshop but directly from My Computer to the Preset folders, they are there, but not when I navigate within PS.... and the navigation is correct.
When I do place brushes in the preset folder, then navigate in PS, they are not there...  I myself have CS4 and this is not a problem.  I'm troubleshooting-working with a friend on a project and we are handcuffed with this CS5 problem...  Help!?

What OS is your friend using?  Vista or Windows 7 by any chance?
    Assuming yes...
I ask because UAC in these OSs does some "special" things, actually redirecting requests to access files in certain folders.  In short, Explorer and/or the file system shows them in one place when they're actually stored in another.
I don't know if that might be what's happening here, but here's an experiment you can run:  Disable UAC (drag the slider to the "never notify" setting at the bottom), reboot, then see if the problem persists.
The problem comes about because Photoshop has its roots in a simpler time, when the installation was done with the assumption that the one and only administrative user of the computer would be using it.

    Presets folders (collapsible)
Has anyone had any luck with Presets in a drop down folder?
LR has the ability to have drop downs in keywords.
Would like to be able to put B&W, Color, Etc in a drop down preset.

  • How do I delete develop preset folders?

I'm wondering if it's possible to delete the develop preset folders that come pre-installed with LR 4.  I don't see them in the Develop Presets folder in Application Support/Adobe, and right-clicking on the folders themselves in LR doesn't provide the option to delete.
The folders I'm talking about are:
    Lightroom B&W Filter Presets
    Lightroom B&W Presets
    Lightroom B&W Toned Presets
    etc...

So there is no changes on Mac remove or not templates from develop module, folders is still present even if it's empty
And this code in compiled lua link embeded templates, if someone more skilled can zero it or remove at all that would be great

As you've discovered, the presets are embedded with the Lr aplication package (Mac) and the Develop.lrmodule (Windows). This means that they'l reappear again when you install the next Lr update.

  • CS3: My Presets folders are missing

I haven't done duo/tri/quadtone in some time and just went trying to load the presets. There's a "Duotone" folder in Presets, but it's empty.
In fact, Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Presets is populated with empty folders.
Will I have to reinstall? How can I be sure they get installed this time?
    Thanks in advance.

It's a CS3 bug. CS3 took you to the wrong location. Click load; then navigate to Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Presets.

  • Presets folders wont open

When I have a picture open in lightroom and click on presets, the folders won't open. I can put each preset in individually and they will work, but if they are in folders, they won't open.

How deep is your nesting of folders?

  • Why Two Presets Folders?

I just did a clean install of Photoshop CS6 and I notice it created a Presets folder here:
    HardDrive > Users > "Me" > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CS6 > Presets
(the only other folder in that location is one named "AutoRecover")
Of course, I also have my normal customized Presets in the following location:
    HardDrive > Applications > Adobe Photoshop CS6 > Presets
I have always used/modified my presets in the second location listed - so what is the bare-bones Presets folder for in Application Support? What is that needed?

If you intend to use the migration scripts, do use the user folder.
I'm wondering if the applications folder is not useful especially for machines with different users that need to share them. (I know that windows have a shared folders, is there such a thing on a Mac?

  • How do i organize preset folders?

    Hey there,
I've acquired a lot of presets and I'd like an effective way to organize them.  I do group them in folders but it seems there isn't any way to sort the folders effectively.  I have aboot a dozen folders I'd like to arrange alphabetically but it seems I can only drag folders to the top of the list, not in between others.  Help?
    Thanks!
    K

Like any other browser we display what the website sends to us. If the folders are not alphabetical then you would need to ask the website to change the behavior.

  • V1.1 preset folders odd behavior

In the develop module I added a preset folder which I called "ISO Sensitive".
I dragged 6 presets from the "User Presets" folder that I had created in v1.0
The "User Presets" folder strays expanded and I cannot expand the "Lightroom Presets" or the new "ISO Sensitive" folders until I close and reopen Lr.
The selected preset keeps jumping to another of my User Presets - one that made tone adjustments. I deleted this preset and now everything seems to work.

    Hi Bryce,
    1) You must have accidently dragged a folder onto your toolbar. If you hold down the Cmd (apple) key and click and drag the folder out of the toolbar, it should disappear in a puff of a smoke.
    2) There is the possibility that the folder is registered as a login item. If you open System Preferences, and browse to the Accounts section. Click on the padlock at the bottom of the window and enter your password when prompted to. Next, navigate to the Login Items tab and check to see if the folder you mentioned is listed there. If it is, highlight it and click on the '-' button below to remove it.

  • Option to create presets/preset folders grayed out?

Just got a new laptop so I've installed LR3 on it.  I'm trying to install my presets in LR, but the options to create a new presets folder and import presets are grayed out.  Not sure why it'd be doing that?  Am I just missing something obvious?  I'm in the develop module and I've reinstalled several times to make sure it wasn't a glitch, but it's not.  Little help?  Thanks!

Thanks!  I just figured that out.  Doesn't really make sense to me why you'd need an catalog open with "found" images to install presets...oh well...whatever. Thanks again.

  • 1.1 not keeping export preset folders

I have 3 export presets I use on a regular basis and I have a folder on my internal raid that has 3 subfolders-one for each preset. Whenever I launch Lightroom and try to use an export preset it asks me which folder to use. I know I'm saving the preset properly because I've tried resaving a preset a couple of times and it works properly until I shut down the app and relaunch it. Is the folder location not saved with the exports or am I missing something else?

    Hi,
Have you used "PersistAllDeviceInstalls" setting to keep the drivers from the reference PC?
    The unattended-Setup setting: Microsoft-Windows-PnpSysPrep\PersistAllDeviceInstalls
can save time by preventing Windows Setup from removing and reconfiguring the device state for identical hardware.
Meanwhile, the hardware must be connected to identical locations and must use the same drivers, and the drivers must have a consistent, unique naming scheme. If the hardware is not identical, it would be problem result.

  • FAQ: How do I migrate my saved presets from an earlier version of Photoshop or import/export them?

You now have the option to migrate presets from a previous version, export presets and to save to a directory as a zip file (great for instructors).
Preset Migration migrates your saved presets, not your preferences. The message says "Would you like to migrate presets from the following versions?"  It simply carries on the preset files you have already saved (things like Brush Tips, HDR Toning presets, Curve presets, Styles etc.)  to CS6.
HOW TO USE PHOTOSHOP CS6 AUTOMATED PRESET MIGRATION
Photoshop CS6 offers the great new functionality of automated preset migration for your custom presets from Photoshop versions as far back as CS3.
When Photoshop CS6 launches for the first time, it checks for previous installations of Photoshop on the computer to see if there are custom presets that need to be migrated. Photoshop looks in each of these presets folders for your saved custom preset files that it can migrate.
Preset migration script copies all the files in user preset folders of older versions. If there are more than one preset files with the same name, presets from the newer version will be given priority. These types of presets will be migrated by the script:
3DLUTs, Actions, Black and White, Brushes, Channel Mixer, Color Books, Color Swatches, Contours, Curves, Custom Shapes, Deco, Duotones, Exposure, Flash 3D, Gradients, HDR Toning, Hue and Saturation, Levels, Lighting Effects, Lights, Materials, Meshes, Optimized Colors, Optimized Output Settings, Optimized Settings, Patterns, Render Settings, Repousse, Scripts, Styles, Tools, Video, Volumes, Widgets, Zoomify, and Workspaces
If this is not your first launch and you would like Photoshop to look for presets,
Choose Edit > Presets > Migrate Presets
When Photoshop notices that you have custom presets saved in their appropriate folders it will give the message "Would you like to migrate presets from the following versions?"
Choose Yes. Photoshop will begin the preset migration script.
When the migration has completed Photoshop will pop up another message saying:
"Preset files from older versions successfully migrated"
In order to use your newly migrated presets, you must restart Photoshop.
If you had Photoshop CS6 beta installed and have saved custom presets, you will need to export those presets before uninstalling the previous version and installing the release version of Photoshop CS6.
    HOW TO SAVE PRESETS
For PS, check that you have saved all your presets using:
Edit>Preset Manager... (in previous versions) Edit>Presets>Preset Manager... (in CS6)
HOW TO IMPORT AND EXPORT PRESETS
    In the main PS menu,
    Choose Edit > Presets > Export/Import Presets
In this dialog you can export the presets and then import them when you load the new version using the same Export/Import dialog.
If you have gone through the automated preset migration and notice that some of your presets didn't get migrated with the rest, make sure you have exported your presets to their default folders.
    PRESET FILE LOCATIONS:
(Note that there are two different folder locations for presets, one for application provided default presets, and one for user created preset files)
These are the presets that are unique to each user on the computer. These can be migrated automatically: (this is the location that the user should save their personal presets in)
    Windows:  Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets
    Mac:  Users/[Username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets
These are the default presets that ship with Photoshop.  These presets can be imported but will not copy over using the migrate feature because each version of Photoshop will install defaults for that version.
    Windows 64 bit:

    WindowsXP and Windows7 32 bit:
          [Hard Drive]:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Presets
    Mac:
        [Hard Drive]/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets
    Frequently used preset filename extensions:

    ACO  Swatch preset
    ASL  Style preset
    ATN  Action preset
    CSH  Custom Shape preset

Do you have an  iPhoto Library from the old machine? If you have then simply open it - there's no importing involved.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
If you don't have an actual library there is no way to do what you want.

I just made the switch to mac. I am have installed all the new PS6 CC and bridge and I am now trying to add some presets to my  ACR but when I search for the folder to place them it is not there.  From what I researched it says it should be under camera library/application support/adobe/camera raw/settings but I can only get to library/application support/adobe/ and then there are two different camera raw options I have checked both and there are not settings folder. If anyone can help me please thanks

Apple most likely has the same poor taste that Microsoft does when it come to defaults.  Microsoft likes to hide things like  settings, preset, folders etc from normal users  think the dumb or something else.  If Apple also hide things you will have to  make some system setting changes that will allow Finder to do it job and find it for you.

  • How do I reset the Default presets to Export to PDF in InDesign 5.5 without loosing all presets?

    Lost all my PDF presets...
I would be happy at this point to reset all my preferences. But, can't find any instructions on how to do so in 5.5 -- only 3 & 4... HELP!!
UPDATE: I tried SHIFT+CONTROL+ALT -- instructions given to reset all presferences in CS 3 & 4 -- did NOTHING in 5.5... NOW I REALLY NEED HELP!!!

OK, first of all did you get a confirmation message about deleting the preferences? If not, they were not replaced. You can do the job manually as well. See Replace Your Preferences
There seems to be a flurry of reports like this this week. I believe several users mentioned that the presets reappeared after resetting the prefs, and in some cases after restarting the computer. You should back up the current PDF presets folders before you attempt any re-installation.
