Prevent Outlook Use

Is there anyway to prevent Outlook from connecting to Messaging Server 6?
We just opened up our Mail server a bit so users can send and receive from home. We would prefer making it so no one can use Outlook or Outlook Express for that matter.
I'm thinking it's not possible, but I thought I'd ask a silly question to see what kind of answer I got.

I know of no way to block any particular client, especially from POP or IMAP, the protocols just don't include a "client string", so the server can't know what client is connecting.

    Is it possible, for a customer with an Office 365 Premium, to create an exchange server policy to prevent Outlook client users to save messages locally?

    Do you mean you want to keep all emails online and prevent Outlook to cache emails locally? If so, I think you can do this by disable cached exchange mode using GPO. But, if you mean you want to prevent users from saving Outlook emails locally as .msg files
    (or other file type), I'm afraid there is no method to achieve the goal.

  • Outlook Integration add in prevents outlook from opening

    Hi All,
    When the outlook integration executable (BO_SyncExt.exe) is running it prevents outlook from opening. Outlook just sits there saying loading user profile all the time. When the process is killed via task manager outlook opens. The issue seems to be intermittent, we've tried the usual uninstalling, re-installing, rebuilding the machine etc. it didn't work.
    The problem doesn't happen on machines using office 2003 or 2007, only on Office 2010 (32 bit).
    SAP version 8.8 PL20.
    Any ideas what this might be?
    Many Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi Jimmy,
    it is 32-bit MS Office, I have had this issue both on 8.82 PL05 (Windows 7 32-bit) and PL07 (Win2008 R2 server 64-bit).
    The Outlook Integration log shows some strange entries without error description:
    2012-07-23 15:24:30  E  CBO_AddIn::OnConnection  ERROR: **************************************************************************
    2012-07-23 16:36:01  E  CBO_AddIn::OnConnection  ERROR: **************************************************************************
    2012-07-23 16:38:33  E  CBO_GUIControl::ReleaseGUIControl  ERROR: Exception in closing the Outlook...
    2012-07-23 16:39:13  E  CBO_AddIn::OnDisconnection  ERROR: ############################################################################
    2012-07-23 18:23:27  E  CBO_AddIn::OnConnection  ERROR: **************************************************************************
    After this error (Exception in closing the Outlook...) I assume that the Outlook.exe hangs, therefore when opening Excel, I get an error message like 'Failed to open log file', so probably the hung Outlook.exe locks the log file. Of course opening Outlook isn't possible in that status.
    After closing the process Outlook.exe, I can start Outlook again and Excel doesn't throw any error message. Nevertheless I tried also to run BO_SyncExt.exe in compatibility mode, I will observe this issue now.
    Thanks
    Sebastian

  • Can you prevent the use of consecutive numbers in a password, using Group Policy?

    The regular old password complexity requirements disallow the use of 3 consecutive characters that appear in the user's account name / display name, but does not prevent the use of consecutive numbers at all. For example, a user can have a password including
    the string "12345". We have the need to disallow this via GP in order to make our passwords compatible with an outside service to which we would like to synchronize. I see no way to do this with the typical Password Policy settings. Anyone out
    there have any hints as to how I might accomplish this?
    This is on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain.

    You need a custom password filter dll on your DCs:

  • HP Laserjet Pro MFP M125A " A Fatal Error Occured Preventing Product Use" on Window XP SP3

    Dear Friends,
    I really need your help on this issues, recently company that i been working buy 19 Unit of HP Laserjet Pro MFP M125A printer to be install at our 19 branches. All of our branches is using Window XP SP3 and the spec is exceed the minimum requirement stated at the box of the HP Printers which means by rights, it should be no problems.
    However, I sent and setup the printer at 4 branches only 1 is a success. others 3 centre is showing the same errors which is A Fatal Error Occured Preventing Product Use. I been trying to install using original CD provided by HP and driver provided at HP Support also given the same errors. The 1 Centre that OK PC spec is almost the same as the others 3 and all using default programs and software. So i dont knows what really is the problem.
    This is the things i have done in hoping to successfully install the driver but WITH NO SUCCESS:
    Clear temp file, disk cleanup, defragment disk and restart PC.
    Reinstall Windows SP3 and restart PC.
    Install basic driver only and using control panel > device and printer > add printer (Select Driver Manually). (See Pic Below)
    Repair windows using original windows XP SP3 CD.
    Re-Check for USB.INF file.
    Repair Registry with reg cure.
    Uninstall USB support and etc (Google), then re-install the printers.
    Uninstall Antivirus, disable all startup and services.
    Install using FULL DRIVER, BASIC DRIVER AND DRIVER MANUAL.
    Sometime when running the installer, it will prompt the below error signature and HP installer will loading quite long and then crash, but others PC don't have this errors, it straight away to the installation menu until DETECTING PRINTER until 99% and shows errors "A Fatal Error Occured Preventing Product Use".
    It seems that almost everythings i try cannot make the printer driver to be install. However, the SCAN driver is install successfully. Currently the printer only can PHOTOCOPY AND SCAN, without being able to print.
    Please anyone which facing similiar issues to HELP ME. anythings i can do, to install the printer DRIVER.
    THANKS!

    Hi @gendit ,
    I see that you are having issues installing several Laserjet Pro MFP M125A printers on several Windows XP computers. You are getting "A Fatal Error Occured Preventing Product Use". I can help you with this.
    What version of .NetFrameworks do you have? Check Your DOTNET.
    You might have to run the Windows Updates. I would update the .Netframeworks to 4.0.
    I believe HP software piggy backs Internet Explorer. Should have at least Internet Explorer 6.0.
    Please try these steps, most likely the wrong driver is getting installed, giving you the Fatal error.
    Disconnect the USB cable.
    Uninstall the printer software from the CD.
    Run the software again, immediately after connecting the USB cable, follow this document to update the driver before it errors out again. A Fatal Error Displays During Software Installation.
    If the issue persists, here is a document with some different steps to try.
    A 'Fatal Error' (MSI error) Displays on the Computer During HP Software Installation in Windows.
    Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
    Have a wonderful day!
    Thank You.

  • How to Send an Email to Outlook using process type in RSPC?

    Hi,
    How to Send an Email to Outlook using process type in RSPC?
    We created lot of process variants, actually we want to send an mail to users if the DP Background job was succesfully finished.
    Actually i tried with create message its not happening...
    Plz let me know .. its urgent ...
    Regards,
    Satish

    Hello Satish,
    If you want to send a friendly message to your users, then you can do this by building an ABAP program that calls function module SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 . You can then insert this ABAP program in your process chain (using the ABAP program process type) or as a second step in your background job. With this technique, you can send an email to SAP users, or to external users (e..g Outlook email addresses)
    Here's  a sample ABAP code:
      data: ls_docdata type SODOCCHGI1,
            lt_objcont type table of solisti1,
            lt_receivers type table of somlreci1,
            ls_objcont type solisti1,
            ls_receivers type somlreci1,
            ls_user type syuname.
    * Fill these variables with subject and msg lines that you need.
    data: MAIL_SUBJECT     TYPE STRING,
    MSG_LINE1     TYPE STRING,
    MSG_LINE2     TYPE STRING,
    MSG_LINE3     TYPE STRING,
    MSG_LINE4     TYPE STRING,
    MSG_LINE5     TYPE STRING.
      ls_docdata-obj_descr = mail_subject.
      ls_objcont-line = msg_line1.
      append ls_objcont to lt_objcont.
      ls_objcont-line = msg_line2.
      append ls_objcont to lt_objcont.
      ls_objcont-line = msg_line3.
      append ls_objcont to lt_objcont.
      ls_objcont-line = msg_line4.
      append ls_objcont to lt_objcont.
      ls_objcont-line = msg_line5.
      append ls_objcont to lt_objcont.
    * t_userlist contains the list of users to whom th email will be sent.
      loop at t_userlist into ls_user.
        ls_receivers-receiver = ls_user.
    "Change the type  here if email is for outlook users, See documentation
    " of function module in SE37
        ls_receivers-rec_type = 'B'.
        ls_receivers-express = 'X'.
        append ls_receivers to lt_receivers.
      endloop.
      CALL FUNCTION 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1'
        EXPORTING
          document_data                   = ls_docdata
        tables
         OBJECT_CONTENT                   = lt_objcont
         receivers                        = lt_receivers
       EXCEPTIONS
         TOO_MANY_RECEIVERS               = 1
         DOCUMENT_NOT_SENT                = 2
         DOCUMENT_TYPE_NOT_EXIST          = 3
         OPERATION_NO_AUTHORIZATION       = 4
         PARAMETER_ERROR                  = 5
         X_ERROR                          = 6
         ENQUEUE_ERROR                    = 7
         OTHERS                           = 8
    You can test out the function module first in SE37 (just put the name of the FM and click execute). Testing it in SE37 will help you get your parameters right.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I prevent the use of a digital signature?

    I realize this flies in the face of some core security issues built into PDFs, but here we go...
    We have a customer for whom we are creating fillable PDF forms.  Due to the nature of the documents, they require handwritten signatures on printed hard copy.  Since the ability to digitally sign any PDF is enabled by default, and especially since Acrobat Reader X apparently prompts the user to use a digital signature, our customer is concerned that some end-users (most of whom will be non-tech-savvy) will be confused by the digital signature concept and would prefer to prevent the use of digital signatures at all.  I have played with the security settings in Acrobat Pro, but they are not granular enough to allow filling in a form without also allowing a digital signature.  Any way to prevent signing?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    @George Johnson:
    I tried to edit and save the form from within Acrobat Standard X, but it didn't seem to make any difference.
    @brogers_1:
    I am not familiar with EchoSign, but since the end-users are not part of my organization, nor my customer's, I won't have access to their registry settings.
    I don't want DigSigs at all.
    There is no signature field in the document--unless it is somehow hidden.
    When a user either left- or right-clicks any form field (in Reader X at least), a window pops up titled "Form Can Be Filled and Signed Electronically" with a note to click "Sign" etc.:

  • Need to download Global address List for Kiosk user while configuring Outlook using POP3 setting

    Hi,
    We have configured Kiosk User in Outlook using POP3 setting but we are not able to see the GAL in the Outlook Client.
    Kindly whether there is options to download the GAL using LDAP query in Exchange Online.
    An answer would be of great help.
    Regards,
    Manoj Issac

    Hi Manoj,
    POP3 was designed to support offline mail processing. With POP3 protocol in Exchange, client user can send and receive message from Exchange server. But POP3 doesn't offer advanced collaboration features such as calendaring, contacts, Address
    Book(GAL) and tasks.
    Therefore, the POP3 client can’t access address book. It is recommended to use MAPI protocol to connect to the Exchange server. For external user, the users can also use Outlook Anywhere or OWA to access the mailbox with better Exchange features
    experience.

    You have to use SELECT_OPTIONS_RESTRICT to restrict input allowed. Call this FM in INITIALIZATION or SELECTION-SCREEN OUPUT sections.
    Sample :
    TYPE-POOLS: sscr.
    INITIALIZATION.
    * Restrict SELECT-OPTIONS
      PERFORM restrict_select.
    FORM restrict_select.
      DATA: restrict TYPE sscr_restrict,
            opt_list TYPE sscr_opt_list,
            *** TYPE sscr_***.
    * Défine select-options modes (aka option list)
    * - ALL standard - all options allowed
      CLEAR opt_list.
      MOVE 'ALL' TO opt_list-name.

    Khaled,

    Try writing a personalization on the PO screen that adds the following condition to the where clause
    "and authorization_status !='APPROVED'
    However, I will be careful with a blanket restriction like this. There are situations when you need to modify an existing PO. So you should code some exceptions for this rule.
    Hope this helps,
