Preview a PDF inside my AIR application inside transparent and custom window

I have a transparent windows (skinnable). Inside, I'd like to preview some pdf file. BUT, in the only a black screen appear, can you help me?
Thanks

AIR does not support this inherently. However, you could write code to parse these file formats. For example, the following is an ActionScript 3.0 library for reading and writing Excel files:

  • Packaging AIR application with ant fails, Packaging AIR application inside IntelliJ works

    Hi,
    I can package AIR application (package type ad-hoc distribution) inside IntelliJ (from Build menu)
    but when I try with my ant build, it encounters an error running the adt command
    Is there a way to have more details on the error? At the moment, it's just a Java returned:2 error.
    I've copied my ant config files below.
    Any ideas anyone on where the problem could lie or how to debug it?
    THANKS!
    Note: I have no issue with the package debug target, be it via IntelliJ or my ant build.

    You may want to try using the settings used by Flash Builder to package the application, more details of which can be found at:http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/compilation-results-flex-buil der-flex.html
    Update your ANT script with these, and try again.

  • Can an AIR application be packaged and launched from inside a Native Android Application

  • Html display order : PDF document in AIR application

    Hello.
    I read
    "The display order of a PDF file operates differently than other display objects in an AIR application. Although PDF content clips correctly according to HTML display order, it will always sit on top of content in the AIR application's display order."
    I am concerned with the "PDF content clips correctly according to HTML display order" part. I would like to know what it exactly means. That is I want to be sure that I could put, for example, and image over the PDF doc, or any other HTML elements without them being graphically overridden by the PDF view. Thanks in advance.

    My reading of the quoted bits is: Inside the PDF, layer ordering rules should work correctly.  But the PDF itself will float above any other content in AIR.

  • PDF comments in Air application

    Hi,
    I have a need to offer PDF reading and commenting in a cross platform app, and it would appear that Air would be a great way to accomplish this.
    However, it does not appear that the commenting tools work in an Air app.
    I can see comments previously added to a PDF outside of Air, but the controls to allow commenting and highlighting are absent in Air.
    I am using Flash Builder 4.0.1 on Mac OSX 10.6.6, and I have Reader X installed.
    If this is a limitation of Air applications, is it likely to be removed in the future?  I'm afraid that if I can't enable the comment mechanism I'm going to have to look for another solution.
    Thanks,
    Marty

    I also need to know if there is a solution.

  • Open pdf from an Air application for Android

    Hi at all,
    i'm developing an AIR Application for Android devices.
    Into the app there is a button which should open a pdf file with the default pdf reader (multitasking), but doesn't work!
    I've an Android Emulator (2.2).
    This is the code
    protected function openClickHandler():void
            f.openWithDefaultApplication();
    f is a File object which points to pdf into the storage folder.
    Any suggest! Help!!
    Thanks.
    F.

    Specific use cases from developers is one way Adobe prioritizes feature development. That's why whenever you request a feature, the response will often include a request for a use case -- even if the use of the feature seems self-evident. Your use case could add more value to a potential feature beyond the self-evident.
    Thanks!

  • Desktop AIR 2.5 application with transparency and embedded Flash with wmode transparency error

    I'm working on a desktop AIR project using the 2.5 SDK (ADT) to create an application that combines html and flash content. My application is using systemChrome none and transparent true. I have an swf element in my html file that I have set to wmode transparent. Instead of the swf rendering with a transparent background and showing the desktop like the html content does, I'm seeing a black box that fills the area where the Flash element is embedded.
    Can someone please assist me in removing this black square so that my flash content is rendered within the html file with a transparent background instead of a black background?
    When the AIR application is set to transparent, the Flash content must have it's wmode set to either transparent or opaque. Opaque gives it a white background (the stage background color), but transparent seems to just give it a black background.
    Thanks!

    Ok fellas,
    It appears that I have indeed answered my own question. So thanks... uh, me As I've now figured out, the entire AIR application is basically still a Flash based Display Object, one that can render html using webkit. That means that even though my main application is written in HTML I can still load swf files into the display list of the root applications native window using the Loader class.
    I had mentioned earlier that this didn't work, but actually it did work I was just having an error. In my flash file I had a reference error because I was referencing stage.stageWidth in actionscript. This produces a typeError in the AIR runtime when I add this to the root display list. I was able to finally see this error by add the -nodebug command to my adl testing script (adl app.xml -nodebug). For whatever reason my AIR 2.5 adl would not produce air.trace calls to the cmd console without that -nodebug command, which is extremely ironic. So adding in the -nodebug command actually gave me my debug traces! Welcome to the world we live in folks... I also found out that my traces in the swf also trace out to the console when you add this command in there.
    In addition, the reason I was not able to get the Loader class to work from javascript was because I was not using the correct addEventListener call. If you are familiar with Actionscript 3.0 (which luckily I am) you will recall that you have to add the event listener to the "contentLoaderInfo" object of the Loader variable you instanciate.
    Here's a snippet of how I was able to do this as well as another link that is buried in the documentation that's useful:
    var loader;
    loader = new air.Loader();
    var file = air.File.applicationDirectory.resolvePath("test.swf");
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(air.Event.COMPLETE, swfLoaded);
    loader.load( new air.URLRequest(file.url) );
    function swfLoaded(evt) {
         air.trace(" SWF LOADED! Woohoo! ");
         air.trace( loader.numChildren );
         loader.width = 1000;
         loader.height = 800;
         loader.x = 0;
         loader.y = 0;
         window.nativeWindow.stage.addChild(loader);
    This is a very useful article on creating nativeWindows and other things, such as creating Flash based display objects and adding them to the stage:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/html/dev/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7e0a.html

  • Run Adobe AIR application as frame in other windows app.

    Is there possibility to intagrate Adobe AIR application to the windows application as ActiveX, or another way, and will be such functionality provided in future?

    Not AIR, but you can, I believe, integrate the Flash Player itself in this way.

  • After Preflighting a PDF, using Convert to CMYK, Flatten Transparency and Prepress Profile Convert to CMYK only the resultant PDF has a grubby halo along the edge of some white type sitting on an image. The type is part of the image.

    I am using a 27" iMac 3.2 GHz Intel Core 5, 8 GB Memory, running Yosemite 10.10.1.
    The version of Acrobat that I am using is: Acrobat XI Version 11.0.10
    After Preflighting a PDF, using Convert to CMYK, Flatten Transparency (high resolution) and Prepress Profile "Convert to CMYK only" the resultant PDF has a grubby halo along the edge of some white type sitting on an image. The type is part of the image which is 300 dpi.
    It is like the image isn't really 300 dpi but has been artificially boosted to that to avoid being tagged by Preflighting, but when Preflighting the file it knows the original resolution.
    I have screen grabs which illustrate the problem perfectly but do not know how to post them, if indeed they can be.
    Any help or comments gratefully received.

    Without the files and possibly screen prints, it is virtually impossible to assist you.

  • AIR application in Leopard and loading local files

    I have an AIR app that loads a config.xml file that is in the
    same directory as the AIR app. It only has 4 nodes that are just
    pointers to folders and/or files. Works fine on a pc that I'm
    developing on. When I install the AIR app on a mac, running
    leopard, it always fails to load the config.xml file. No matter
    what file type I try to load on the mac, it will always give me the
    IOErrorEvent #2032.
    Has anyone run into this or does anyone know of a solution?
    Thanks,

    This is exactly the same problem I am having. I'm trying to
    load a local xml file from the same directory as the application
    (using OS 10.4.11).
    I am trying it this way:
    var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    var file:File = flash.filesystem.File.applicationDirectory;
    file = file.resolvePath("my.xml");
    var xmlPath:URLRequest = new URLRequest(file.url);
    try {
    xmlLoader.load(xmlPath);
    } catch (error:Error) {
    trace("Unable to load requested document.");
    Works perfectly on Windows but I get the #2032 error on Mac.
    Has someone done this successfully with Air (and how)? ;-)

  • Loading and modifying a SWF file within an AIR application

    I bet you get this question a lot, but I was wondering, if possible, anyone knows how to edit and save the changes to a SWF file loaded inside an AIR application?
    Thanks in advance!

    I'm sorry, but I happen to digress greatly with Michael's approach. I started using AIR  just yesterday ( 3 hours or so ), and I firmly believe in reinventing the wheel as a strong method of learning. Just to be clear, I do this on my own free time, so I have no need to worry about COGs, after all, I'm just learning. Otherwise, though it's a strong and great response if I were to build a somewhat bigger application, it's way too much more than the original scope of the application. It's like using a bazooka to kill ants . Regarding the scope of the application, it should support loading / writing of SWFs, and editing of XMLs for certain pre-defined entities. As I stated already, I am certain that I'd be able to do this in a very short span of time with another approach (more xmls, embedding assets directly to the SWF that loads the edited swf, etc.) It's more of a challenge to myself than anything else . I'm really grateful for all your help, so if you want, I can keep you up to date on how I deal with the issue.

  • Multi Window AIR Application - How to Call

    Hi All,
    I am new to Adobe AIR so please forgive my ignorance. I want
    to create a multi-window air flex application. The scenario is like
    I have a window with menu options. When user selects a menu option,
    I have to open another window with corresponding application in it.
    I have created two applications inside a flex project. Each
    application has <mx:WindowedApplication> as its root
    component. My question is how to call the 2nd application from the
    1st one? I tried SWFLoader but does not seem to work. Any help is
    creatly appreciated.

    You only want a single WindowedApplication component in an
    AIR application. For the other windows, use the Window component.
    You can then create this window object in response to the user's
    menu selection. See
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/flex/quickstart/launching_windows.html
    for examples of opening windows.
