Preview Handlers for office 2007 and Vista

Hello, I am trying to create a preview handler for EPS and AI files, I was wondering if there was any direction and or guidance that could be given to me. Sample source would of course be over the top, but not required, I just am not sure which com objects to look into invoking. So I am pretty much at the basics of this all. Thanks

I don't think the AI SDK provides anything for this unfortunately; I think others have asked in the past. There really isn't anything that helps you read an AI file from outside of Illustrator in the SDK, which is what you'd need to generate the kind of previews you'd want.
One can only assume that Adobe has that kind of separate library, but apparently they aren't sharing :(

I have an HP-Pavilion Vista PC with MS Office 2007 and Service Pack 2. Each time I try to save a Word or Excel document I get the “Not Responding” message. The “Word is saving……” bar at the bottom does not show any progress. On clicking the document I get a faded version even when in Safe Mode. Somehow the document appears on the Desktop where I tried to save it. On trying to open the saved document, even as administrator, I get the following ”File in Use” message:
“The ….docx is locked for editing by….” and I am asked three questions including:
“Do you want to open a Read Only copy” yet on clicking “Yes” I am able to edit the same document.
On trying to save to a different location I get the message:
“Your autocorrect file MSO 1033.ad could not be saved. The file may be read only or you may not have permission to modify this file.”
The same message stating FILE12\1033\MSO.ACL MSO 1033ad recurs with new Excel documents.
How can I correct this problem?
PS
Worse still, the HP Advisor icon that appears on startup does not load successfully while showing the message: “Access to the path Hewlett-Packard\HD Advisor is denied”.
What can I do about it?

I'm having the same issue, allowing guest access on the share did change the logs I'm getting in Samba. Earlier on it was giving errors on the inability of guest access to the share.

I also noticed that the temporary file that is created by office is not removed after the attempt to safe the file. (something like: ~$filename).

You can either use Office for Mac 2011 or use Boot Camp to run Windows or use a VM, such as Parallels Desktop to run Windows. Running Windows, you'd be able to use MS Office for Windows.

OFFICE 2007 and Acrobat

I had reported on some issues of using OFFICE 2007 with Acrobat 7 and 8. I suspect there was a problem with AA9 also. Typically the result would be graphics with lines through them, at least when expanded. This would often appear that your graphic had been split into parts and pieced together in Acrobat. SP2 for OFFICE 2007 was released recently and I went back to test this issue with the new release. At this point it appears that everything is working great. This follow up is to suggest updates to BOTH OFFICE 2007 and Acrobat if you are having some problems. On this machine I am running VISTA business, OFFICE 2007 (SP2), and AA8. Bill

Opening Office 2007 and 2010 documents in FDM as Custom documents

Hi Gurus, could you please help with this one.
I am trying to load Office 2007 and 2010 documents as custom documents in FDM. I can load the files successfully but when I try to open the loaded excel (xlsx) or word (docx) file, it opens up as a zip for me to save. I have added the docx, xlsx & pptx mime file types in the workspace without any luck as according to the following document *Incorrect format of MS Office 2007/2010 Files Downloaded from EPM Workspace [ID 1426071.1]*
Has anyone experienced this issue before:
Hyperion Version : 11.1.2.0
OS : MS Windows Server 2008 x64 SP1

This issue was already raised in the ThinkVantage subforum here at Lenovo Forums and it is resolved.
Regarding the Turbo Memory, please keep in mind that the hardware only works with Vista. Windows XP does not support turbo memory thus the piece of hardware is rendered useless. With regards to Turbo Memory usage in Vista, the latest drivers do fully support the card in Vista and since there are no technological changes, there is no need for additional or new drivers.

Run time Error in accessing Analyzer on VIsa 64 bit, Office 2007 and SAP GU

I can not run Bex Analyzer using WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 64 bit OS, Office 2007 and SAP GUI 7.10

Check the RFC connection of Source system. It seems that your rfc connection is not working properly. So make sure that you are able to establisthed the connection between these 2 systems.

Maybe it's possible, but I doubt it.
Reason is that you're asking the URL to run the report and then once done export out the values and I just don't think the 'i' - or now 'g' versions support this.
This was why the command line interface with the Desktop version was so popular as this is exactly the kind of thing you can do, plus much more.
I checked the documentation for Plus and can find nothing about doing this in the URL. Maybe someone will say otherwise, but with Plus I don't think it's possible.

well, I got a very very quick response from Creative. I don;t know if what they said to do will solve my problem but they sent a very detailed list of things to do so we are now off to copy the info from our zen v pluses in case we lose what we put on them and will post an update to let you all know if we solved this and how. While I am not impressed with the product at this moment if this works? then I will be very impressed with how this has been handled so far....

IFilter 9 not searching OCR .PDFs post SP2 for Office 2007 Servers

Prior to the installation of Service Pack 2 for Office 2007 Servers, .PDF files that were scanned in and then ran against Optical Character Recognition software could be searched with the iFliter 9 for Windows MOSS, x64. Now, those specific files no longer are searchable however; files that were converted directly from another application, such as MS Word or Excel, that were converted directly into .PDF files work fine. Has anyone ever seen anything like this or can give me a direction to go to get this resolved? Adobe's support for this product is non-existant and I am sure Microsoft will not be a help since it is not their product.

Uploading files Mime Type not correct for Office 2007 default extensions.

hi all,
My company has recently moved over to MS Office 2007 and the default extensions for word, excel etc are now .docx, xlsx etc (ie xml based).
Unfortunately now when we upload files through APEX to the database the MIME TYPE value for these files isn't being recognised and not loadeding correctly into the APEX_APPLICATION_FILES table and subsequently any future retrieval of these files fails.
I could put some logic inthe up load procedure to look at the filename in APEX_APPLICATION_FILES and hard code in the releavnt mime types but this still causes problems when retrieving the content.
Has anyone come across this and got a workround? Is it a bug in AE?

I have not any response to my question and not sure if it is in Apex I need to look or the tomcat server that I need to look. I have a useful application to try to show others what Apex can do for our customers to collaborate. However, most of our customers are using office 2007 so, hoping this is possible.
I am using apex 3.2.0.00.27 if that helps someone to point me where to find more info on being able to have Word 2007 or excel 2007 fire up to open a .docx or .xlss file stored in a table blob column. Word or Excel does fire up to open .doc and .xls files.
The following is the query for a report selecting the filenames uploaded into a blob column in my table:

Depreciation run not posted for 2006/2007 and 2008.

Hi,
I have a situation where depreciation has not been posted for 2006,2007 and 2008.
Now since there are 2 fiscal years already open the system does not allow to post to the 2008. since only 2 fiscal years can be open at a time.
Old periods cannot be opened to post depreciation.
I feel the only way out is to assign a new depreciation area?
Is it possible to change the Chart of Depreciation or active (posted to) depreciation area?
Any suggestions.

If your 2007 is open then post the depreciation thru AFAB with unplanned posting run, after completing it you can close the periods & open 2008

Unfortunately I don't have Office 2007 in front of me to test
with. But I'm thinking that as long as Office 2007 still produces
the same formats as 2003, you could do it this way.
From RoboHelp 7 and using Office 2007, generate Printed
ouptut. Open said printed output in Office 2007 and perform a Save
As. Save the document as a RTF (Rich Text Format) document.
RTF is more universal. So I'm thinking this may be a possible
way around it. There is also the possibility that Word 2007 offers
up an ability when saving a file to save in an older format.

We have recently upgraded to the office 2007 and IE 7.Now we are facing problems on few fronts.
1)When a user tries to save as document from KM it gives a authentication pop up message.If user ignores it and cancels it he is able to download the document.

Lync 2013 no longer has its own installer, but instead uses the Office installer. You can create a customized installation and deploy it just like you do with Office:
