Previous Page ("Back" browser button)

Hi,
I have this scenario: a Flex app calls (using a menu) another Flex app passing some parameters; the new Flex app shows in the SAME broser window some results (based on those parameters). Now I want to add a Button component in the called app to behave the same as "Back" browser button, I mean to return to the caller application.
How can I accomplish that? I would like to point out that the called app cannot be open in a new window (must be the same one) and the browser "Back" button cannot be used (even if it is functional).
Any help is very appreciated, as usual...

IMHO,
I would completely turn off history manager,
It introduces DeepLinking code and overrides History Functionality of the browser which is not needed in your example, .
instead I would
use simple javascript to navigate back and forwards which can be called from flex app via EI(ExternalInterfaces)
JS Example:

ExternalIntercaes Example:

    You have to either click and hold the back button or right click to access the drop down selection.

  • Kill session or disable back browser button

    hi every one
    i'm using jDeveloper 11gR2
    i have adf application with 30 pages and 30 taskflow
    the main page is login Page
    when user enter valid username and password then will nevgate to second page(that has the adf tables,button,....) and button link called Logout
    when user click on the link logout then will return cotrol flow back to login page.
    thus when user click on back button on the browser then it retrn in the second page
    plz help

    1) AdfSecurity is described in the docs http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm
    2) when a user logs out of an app you normally invalidate the user session which then removes all resources from the http session (each user has its own http session).
    3) Code only makes sense if you decide on a way to go. ADFSecurity will give you most of this out of the box. If you decide to implement it on your own you store something in the user session after successful login of a user. Then when the user enters a new page you can check for the stored information. If it's not there the user is not logged in and you forward him to the login page.
    I would at least read the chapter about adf security as it gives you some knowledge about the concepts.

  • Browser back button returns user to top of previous page, not previous location on previous page.

    Had a user wanting to know why the back button won't take them to the location they were at on the previous page.  In other words, if they are mid-page, and click a link to a new SharePoint page or document, then click the back button, it takes them
    to the top of the previous page rather than their former location in the previous page, meaning they need to scroll to find their previous location on that page.
    Is there a way to resolve this, or at least an explanation I can provide as to why this is occurring?  Thanks!

    Hi,
    This should be a behavior by design with the OOTB pages cause there is no such built-in feature included in SharePoint 2013.
    If there is a need to implement this requirement, we can use JavaScript to achieve it.
    Here is a similar thread with a solution provided in one of the posts:

    Feel free to reply if there still any questions.

  • After updating IE7, Firefox 3.6 no longer store history--back button in Firefox can't access previous pages.

    Yesterday a security update for IE7 was automatically downloaded into my computer. Now the history feature of Firefox is working poorly. Often it doesn't save previous pages for the back button to access during an online session. The few times I've been able to navigate back to a Google search page, the search terms I've used previously are absent. However most often today, the browser doesn't even acknowledge that there were previous pages and the back button remains grayed out.

    I got an email saying that Cor-el had posted a reply to my question. I don't see it on this page. Was it deleted?

  • Back button does not go to the previous page

    Hi all, first post.
    As an imac user I also have a laptop running Win7 O/S and of course Safari 5.1 (7534.50).
    I go to the tabbed browsing bar, click on a bookmark and open all in tabs.
    The problem occurs when I use the back button to go to the previous page. Instead I get a previous set of tabs? Or sinle blank tab?
    Can anybody help me please!
    Mike

    Right - found a workaround for the PC (mac is not affected).
    Instead of hitting the back button, hold it.
    This will bring a list of all possible back pages, select the one you want.
    Once you have done this, the back button behaves a bit better.
    EDIT: Timesink has noted that the backspace button works.
    Always beter to use keys and shortcuts

  • IE Browser back button goes to two pages back

    I am not using JSPs, using a servlet ABSServlet to display the search page, after entering the search criteris I'm displaying a report page. The report page has a button 'Save As Excel' which open the report in the Excel form. When I click on this button browser asks 'Open' or 'Save'. I clicked on 'Open'. It open the report in excel form in the same page. Now if I press the IE Browser back button it takes me to the Search page instead of the report page.
    Ideally it should go back to the Report page(preiosu page) if I click the back button and not to the previous to previous page. Can someone help?

    You cannot (practically) modify the function of the browser's back button...
    You can patch it though.
    Put in the intermediate (search) page something like
    <script language="Javascript"><!--
    function sendBack()
      wherefrom=history.forward(1); //only valid if the back button has been used. otherwise null
      length=wherefrom.length();//length of 'forward page's url'
      if (history.forward(1).substring(length-4)==".xls") //the back button has been press on a url ending .xls - back from a spreadsheet
        location.href=history.back(1); //go back once more from here
      else
        //this is if the back button was not used or if back button was used from a page that is not an excel spreadsheet;
        //if you write nothing here, the page just display as though this function were not here
    //--></script>
    <body onload="sendback()">Not really a Java solution, but should work.

  • Safari reloading previous page after pressing the back button

    Hey guys, here my question regarding Safari...
    Why is it that every time I do the two finger swipe on the trackpad to go back to the previous page I was viewing on the web, freaking Safari takes me back to that page instantly but then automatically reloads the page. WHY?!?!
    I don't have this issue while using Firefox. I swipe to go back to the previous page and it's instantly available for me to continue browzing / scrolling, etc.
    Another thing I noticed in Safari is that if I'm half way down a page and click on something, which takes me to that page but then I swipe to go back, it doesn't take me back to where I was on the page (say, half way down, for example) it take me up towards the top (not all the way at the top, mind you, just up higher, NOT WHERE I WAS WHEN I LEFT THE PAGE) Why does it do this?!?! You'd think that Apple would have designed Safari to be the next best thing since sliced bread and that it would work instantly and flawlessly. I'd imagine that Firefox and other browzers would be the ones taking forever to load but it's freakin Safari that is doing this, I don't get it.
    For the record, Firefox functions flawlessly. Instantly shows the page I was at when I press the back button or swipe back and it puts me BACK IN THE SAME SPOT THAT I WAS AT BEFORE I LEFT THE PAGE!!!!
    I use both browzers as I need two (use both for different things and have different bookmarks saved, etc) but I'm starting to HATE Safari simply for this one issue I'm having. It makes surfing the web take 2x as long as I not only have to wait for the page to RELOAD after pressing the back button, I also have to scroll back down to where I was before I left the page, which takes TIME!
    Someone please explain this to me. I looked at other posts regarding this issue but there is no clear solution to the problem.
    HELP.

    I think Apple should give the end user the choice whether to autoload the webpage when you press the back button or not. It would be a simple fix for this issue that it seems a lot of people are suffering with.
    I WANT to use the default web browser that my Macbook Pro came with (Safari) and don't really want to use the alternatives (Firefox, Chrome, etc) but surfing the web is a slow, time consuming process with this auto reload "feature".
    Apple, Please fix this ASAP!
    This is my first Apple laptop (was a long time Sony Vaio / Windows user) and I expected good things from my Mac, after hearing / reading all the reviews but this Safari issue is a MAJOR turn off for me. It needs to be address ASAP.

  • The back/forward button no longer has a drop-down list of previous pages visited in that tab: or is this accessible some other way?

    The question says it all, really. I just installed Firefox 4, and noticed a significant (for me) reduction in utility: in the previous version, the back button used to have a drop-down arrow which showed the previous pages visited in a particlular tab, and allowed you to go back several pages in one go, if you wanted to (say, when browsing a series of sites to buy something or other). Firefox 4 no longer has this facility, which I personally found very useful from time to time.
    Is it available by some other means? If not, maybe I should consider reverting to the previous version, which suited me better, in this regard at least.

    Just put the little arrow back into the system. Fix this now. I don't want 2 other options. Get this right for "nontech" people.

  • Reload previous page on back button - using cache control

    Hi,
    In my application I am using cache control to avoid the pages to be cached. But the requirement is changed and now the previous page can be re-loaded on hittinh browser's back button even after the 10 mins. i.e if user hits the back button with in 10 mins he should be allowed to see the pre-loaded contents on the previous page. After 10 mins the browser should display the page refresh warning.
    a) Old code to preventing caching:
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-cache"); //HTTP 1.1
    response.setHeader("Pragma","no-cache"); //HTTP 1.0
    response.setDateHeader ("Expires", -1); //prevents caching at the proxy server
    b) I am trying with the code ha changes as to get the previous page with in 10 minutes time:
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-cache, max-age=600"); //HTTP 1.1
    response.setHeader("Pragma","no-cache"); //HTTP 1.0
    The above code changes are not working. If uses "no-cache" with max-arg=600 it behaves like the code in section a).
    If I uses response.setHeader("Cache-Control","max-age=600"); then even after 30 mins it load the previous page with preloaded contents.
    Any help is appreciated.

    I tried it lots of time by refreshing the browser's cache. I am using IE 6.0. I tested it through FireFox to get the header details. when I submit the request it displays the headers request
    same as I set in the code. But when I hit the back button (after the max age time passed) still it gets the value from cache and no header values are displayed.

  • How to prevent going back to the previous page by hitting the Back button ?

    In the html code I generate from my servlet, I have the following :
    <Html>
    <Head>
    <Title>Cox Part Time Benefit App Login Page</Title>
    <Meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache">
    <!-- Pragma content set to no-cache tells the browser not to cache the page. This may or may not work in IE -->
    <Meta http-equiv="expires" content="0">
    <!-- Setting the page to expire at 0 means the page is immediately expired. Any vales less then one will
    set the page to expire some time in past and not be cached. This may not work with Navigator -->
    <Meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache">
    <!-- This directive indicates cached information should not be used and instead requests should be forwarded
    to the origin server. This directive has the same semantics as the PRAGMA:NO-CACHE -->
    </Head>
    I hope it can prevent user from going back to the previous page by hitting the Back button on the browser, but it doesn't, what's the right way to do it ?

    I think I'm half way now, but something is missing. I have the following filter :

        for (Enumeration e=fc.getInitParameterNames();e.hasMoreElements();)        // Set the provided HTTP response parameters
          String headerName=(String)e.nextElement();
          response.addHeader(headerName,fc.getInitParameter(headerName));
        chain.doFilter(req,response);                                              // Pass the request/response on
      public void init(FilterConfig filterConfig)
        this.fc=filterConfig;
      public void destroy()
        this.fc=null;
    }And in my web.xml, I have something like this :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <web-app version="2.5" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_2_5.xsd">

        <param-name>Cache-Control</param-name>

       </init-param>
      <init-param>
        <param-name>expires</param-name>
        <param-value>0</param-value>
       </init-param>
    </filter>
    </web-app>I rebuilt the project and ran it, and yet, I can still hit the "Back" button and get to previous page, what am I missing ? Is what I've done in the web.xml file enough to set it up, or do I need to call ResponseHeaderFilter somewhere in my servlet in order to use it ?

  • After I search using Google in Firefox, and hit the back arrow button to return to the main homepage I use, the browser won't take me there. Instead, I'm left at the initial results page from my search.

    Assume I start at Google as my homepage. I search for Federal Reserve. Google then brings up a number of selections for Federal Reserve. I can scroll through to more search results on page 2, 3, 4, etc. Now suppose I want to use the back arrow button to go back to Google as my homepage. I’ve found what I was looking for. When I try to get back to Google, the furthest back I can go is to page 1 of the search results. The browser won’t take me back to the original starting page which was Google. Also, it doesn’t matter what the starting page or initial page was. The browser will only take me back to the initial page after the original homepage. By the way, I did not install any new software or applications prior to this problem occurring. My guess is that it may have something to do with the function keys at the top of the keyboard. But I can’t figure out what the problem is with the function keys. It’s only a guess.

    using Google toolbar for searches?? disable instant search (click the wrench to the right of the tool bar, untick enable instant, and hit save. worked for me
