Prime Fulfillment 6 AND LMS 4.2 on single Solaris 10 server?

Is it possible to easily operate both Prime Fulfillment 6 AND LMS 4 on single Solaris 10 server?

They were not tested together, and I recommend they not be installed on the same zone instance (due to potential conflicts). Now, if you're certain you have a server that can accommodate both suites (in terms of resources), create separate zones for each suite. This will eliminate the conflict possibility while still giving you one overall physical machine to manage.

Hi,
In VMS 2.1 bundle, RME and Security Monitoring Center are included. As I know, RME can receive syslog from switch/router/PIX and Security Monitoring Center can receive syslog from PIX. If I install these two applications on the same server, will there be problems about the syslog receive? Will the syslog messages mix-up? Thanks

WCS and LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Upgrade

Hello,
Our customer is currently having WCS for 500 devices and LMS 3.2 for 1500 devices. We are planning to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3.
I want to check is the upgrade procedure that we have planned is ok or we have missed something.
Phase 1: WCS to CPI 1.3 upgrade
1. Check that WCS is at 7.0.230.0 version
2. Export WCS database
3. Install NCS 1.1.1.24 software
4. Contact cisco to obtain trial license for NCS software (L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 license).
5. Migrate WCS license and import it in NCS software
6. Migrate WCS data to NCS software using ncs migrate command
7. Patch NCS software
8. Inline upgrade to CPI 1.3 software
9. Install proper licenses on CPI 1.3 (WCS and LMS device count)
My concern in this first phase is should I use NCS large image since our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 software should manage 2000 devices at the end.
Or is it better not to perform inline upgrade and insted go with exporting data from NCS and then importing them to CPI 1.3 that is going to be installed separately?
Phase 2: LMS 3.2 to CPI upgrade
1. Export LMS 3.2 database
2. Install LMS 4.2 software
3. Install license to LMS 4.2
4. Restore data from LMS 3.2 to LMS 4.2
5. Direct upgrade from LMS 4.2 to 4.2.2
6. Export the device list with credentials from LMS 4.2.2 and import it as a Bulk Import in CPI 1.3
At the end we will have CPI 1.3 and LMS 4.2.2 software running.
Is it possible to directly upgrade from LMS 4.2 to LMS 4.2.4 and then import data to CPI 1.3 or we need to go with 4.2.2 version?

Are this errors going to affect our LMS 4.2 operations?
Then we have upgraded to LMS 4.2.2 and exported data and credentiales for PI import.
On PI 1.3 we have installed WCS 500 devices upgrade license and LMS 1500 upgrade license and now we are having 2000 devices lifecycle license. We have successfully restored WCS data in PI and we have imported LMS devices as bulk import. What is strange is that we have this message in prime regarding licensing:
On LMS 3.2 our customer had saved unlimited number of configuration versioning. After upgrading to LMS 4.2 we can only see last 3 configurations regardless of unlimided number of configurations in previous LMS, so my question is where can we find older configurations in LMS 4.2?
We are planning to turn unlimited versioning on CPI 1.3 now, so our customer will again have feature that they need. Do you have some experiance regarding disk space when all device configurations are stored forever?

Upgradding Prime Infrastructure version 1.2 and LMS 4.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0

A customer currently have 2,500 Cisco Prime Infrastructure Lifecycle device license using Prime Infrastructure version 1.2 and LMS 4.x. the customer wants to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0.
Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade to version 2.0 without additional cost? the licenses from
Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 has to be upgraded or we need only to rehost the VUDI.
Also could be possible to upgrade LMS 4.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0?

The two features you mention are two big missing ones. Another is full syslog capability. I don't believe CiscoView or day one support via package updates is included either.
Another is less tangible - the depth of experience and documentation available for LMS vs. Prime Infrastructure (particularly the wired management features). I agree for wireless PI 2.0 looks good. Some new features are coming for wired that look promising but they are new as of PI 2.0 so I'm taking a wait and see on them.
I hope to get 2.0 up in my lab in the next week or so and will hope to be pleasantly surprised but that's seldom the case with a major new release.

It looks like they just added the WS-X6848-TX variant with the latest C6000IOS CiscoView package update (Version 37, dated 31 July 2012 - readme)
I'd expect the -SFP variant should be in the next update.
You should open a TAC case to make sure that it's brought to the attention of the dev team if they aren't already working on it. One of the tenets of Cisco Prime LMS is "Day 1 support" of new devices.

I try to understand what (at high level of course) happens in the back ground when an order is raised and which vendor solution your product can interact with.
As mentioned in the quoted text, this service catalogue goes beyond the standard infrastructure.
Let’s say, a user wants to deploy a new email services, or in your example, extends or create a new web-portal (i.e. for HR to view and manage holiday, staff absence and benefits).
Your solution will need to interact somehow with the 3rd party vendor application that is capable building such portal I believe.
Without disclosing to many information, I assume the portal is linked to backend VM,s that spin up requested resources (and more magic of course). Perhaps I am mixing this up with another cisco product where a user can go on the portal and spin up virtual Firewalls, virtual Routers can be provisioned in now time.
Out if interest; Is this product also known as Mozart? (project code within Cisco?)

Upgrade to Prime 2.0 from LMS 3.2.1

Hello all, and thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Is there an upgrade path from LMS 3.2.1 to Prime Infra 2.0? Or given 2.1 is now available perhaps to 2.1?
My plan of attack at the moment is to download the OVA for the Small deployment, and build out the DB from scratch. But we do have a significant number of devices so I was wondering if some sort of DB import was possible. It appears that I would have to upgrade our current LMS to 4.2 first to do this though, and that is more hassle than its worth if that is in fact the case.
The other question I had is around licensing. We currently have LMS and NCS running in our environment. How can I combine the licensing from each so I can get the same levels on Prime Infra? Both NCS and LMS are under software support if that helps at all.
Please advise, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can't do a direct db import but you can use the dcrcli utility in LMS 3.2 to export a csv file of your devices and credentials.
You can then manipulate it using Excel or such to match the required format in PI 2.x. (That's basically what's done for you if you go the the trouble of upgrading to LMS 4.2 and using the export utility there.)
There are upgrade SKUs available for NCS to PI. Your reseller or Cisco partner can use the Cisco Prime "BOM Builder" (ordering guide available (only to partners) in the partner community) to determine the correct part number to order.

Comparing NX-OS Configurations in Cisco Prime 2.1 or LMS 4.2.5

Maybe this is just an NX-OS thing but does anyone have issues comparing different versions of a configuration for the same device? As an example we have Nexus 5548 running version 5.1(3)N2(1). When someone configures an interface on the switch Prime and LMS receive syslog notifications and back up the configuration. When you attempt to do a configuration comparison within Cisco Prime 2.1 it appears like the entire configuration has changed (see below - if you were to scroll over the entire config is red).
When I do the same comparison within LMS 4.2.5 it gives the same result. Is this just the way it is?

So I checked another Nexus 5548 that's running 5.0(3)N1(1c) and it is working as expected. It seems with that device that Cisco Prime 2.1 is able to parse the configuration out and you can compare differing versions of the same device:
Looking back at the original device that Cisco Prime is having issues with it appears that everything is lumped under the global config:

My Customer needs to update the WLC to 7.6 (from 7.4) due to 3700 APs, but does not use the ac or other new features (yet).
He has a Prime 1.3 update 4, where the guest Account are created.
Can he, after the WLC Upgrade to 7.6.130.0 still see the WLC from Prime 1.3 and Push guest accounts to the WLC?
The migration to PI 2.1 will be planned.

Not in any meaningful way.
If you have a Cisco IPS appliance (or IPS module in an ASA), it can be managed either via IPS Device Manager (IDM), IPS Manager Express (IME) or Cisco Security Manager (CSM).
Newer ASA CX modules with IPS service are managed via PRSM.
Of course Cisco Sourcefire IPS sensors are managed via Defense Center.

LMS 4.0/4.1 as tacacs server

Hi Just a quick one, been looking to consolidate a number of management products and LMS seems to tick nearly all of them off except Tacacs requirement. I've been looking through various LMS Guides and trying to find out if the LMS can act as a tacacs server as I would like to get ride of the current unix system or do I need to use another solution? If so can anyone suggest something that works well with LMS...

LMS does not include a TACACS+ or any other AAA server. It is strongly recommended that you do not install one along side the LMS server on the same logical server. The reason for this is that you do not want NMS maintenance to affect your network access. You also want to limit the number of potential attack vectors one could use to compromise your AAA server.
The leading recommendation is to put your AAA application on a dedicated physical server with strict physical and network access restricitions. If that is not possible, at least dedicate a virtual machine for AAA.

but we have other reports that come from other machines with different odbc connection
and this its not working when opens the report asks for credentials
and i cannot use the remote ip for these reports that come from other machine

if i cannot connect to remote ip to open the report
for each report i have to create a database the report database on my machine and then open the report ?
or there is some other way to open the report ?

Cannot refresh table - test connection works fine but refresh gives "We couldn't refresh the connection. Please go to existing connections and verify they connect to the file or server." error.

I'm having some difficulty updating a table in my powerpivot data model. The data for the table is stored in a local excel file; if I go to
Existing Connections select the connection and do a test then everything is successful. When however I try to refresh that particular table I get the following error:
"We couldn’t refresh the connection. Please go to existing connections and verify they connect to the file or server."
In the past I had this and it was an authentication issue, the files are stored on SharePoint and I wasn't logged in to Sharepoint - I have however checked this and it can't be the issue because I have other tables linked to other excel files in the same
location that are refreshing without issue. Can anyone think of what may be causing it?
I have even tried creating a new local excel with the same data, added it to the data model and then tried a refresh and I I get exactly the same issue.
Are there any known issues with refreshing data from an Excel file if, after the initial import, you add columns to the table in the excel file I was wondering if this might contribute?

From your description, I tried to reproduce this issue on my test environment. However, everything is fine for me. Could you please post the specific version of SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel?
You can try to use a trace file to troubleshoot errors in PowerPivot. If this issue still persists, please try to reinstall SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel to see if this helps.

Hi All,
I'm getting the below error in My SHarepoint 2013 search Administration page.
Crawler background activity - The search application 'Search Service Application 1' on server "" is not provisioned. Confirm that the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Timer service and Central Administration service are running

and when i click on Crawl Log and content source
it throws the below error
The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether
the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress
When i check the search status
Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceInstance, it shows all the components are online.
As of now search service application is online and search is working.But not sure why it throws the above error.
I have restarted timer service,search service in services.msc and cleared the sharepoint cache as well.
But no luck,This is happening in my prodcution environment.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please try below mentioned steps:
1. Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions > Look for following timer job "Application Server Administration Service Timer Job" > Disable
2. Then open windows administrative services (services.msc), stop SharePoint Timer Service
3. Clear SharePoint Timer configuration cache by following steps mentioned in below blog:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jamesway/archive/2011/05/23/sharepoint-2010-clearing-the-configuration-cache.aspx
4. Start SharePoint Timer Service and give it a few seconds so that the new XML files from the location you deleted then are re-populated.
5.Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions > Look for following timer job "Application Server Administration Service" Timer Job > Enable

How can I take text from a webpage that is in multiple rows and move it into a single row in Excel?

I need help figuring out how to take data from internet pages and enter it into one single row in an excel, or numbers if that is the easier way to go. I was also told access might be good to use. Basically I am going to chamber of commerce page and wanting to extract the member listing and enter in a database in a single line. The data is in different numbers of lines as you will see below (info edited to take out personal info). So I want to take the name of business, business owner, address, city, state, zip, and phone and put it into one line on a spreadsheet. I want to do this many times over. I think there is a way to do it through apple script and automator, but I have not been successful after 2 weeks of trying and searching. I have over 800 listings and I surely don't want to go through and do them one at a time. Any suggestions?

So, basically, create 800 individual entries, each one containing everything from business name through the phone (not fax) number, add some commas and spaces to entries, and then put each entry on a separate line?
1. Go to website page such as this one-- http://www.littlerockchamber.com/CWT/External/WCPages/WCDirectory/Directory.aspx ?ACTION=newmembers --which seems formatwise very close to what you're trying to scrape.
2. Cmd-A to select all. Cmd-C to copy it to clipboard.
3. Open freeware TextWrangler. Cmd-V to paste info from clipboard into a blank TW document.
4. Remove lines from top and bottom so that only membership list remains.
5. Process lines to remove everything from "Fax" line through "See Also" line. Only business name through phone number will remain in the file.
--A. TW > Text > Process Lines containing . . .
-----(check "Delete matched lines"; uncheck all others)
-----Enter "Send Email" in the search box.
-----Click Process.
--B. Repeat 5A for other lines to be removed
