Print button on my webdynpro JAVA page

Hi Experts,
Is there any way that I can include a print button on my webdynpro JAVA page. ON click of the Print button I have to print the entire Page. User is able to print the page by using the print option of Browser, but in that case if the page is having a vertical or horizontal scroll, print output will contain only the visible part.

Printing Web Dynpro Java (WDJ) applications is one of the missing functionalities that everyone wants to have in their application. you can use third party open source reporting tool, JasperReports, to solve this issue

Print button in ABAP WebDynpro

Hello all,
The client has requested a 'Print' button in our webdynpro application - ie a simple button that triggers the browser command Ctrl P.
I have searched the forum, and it seems that this is not possible, because WebDynpro cannot execute browser commands (or indeed, javascript).
Can someone please suggest a solution - OR - confirm that this functionality is not possible?

This is news to me! Is this an accepted view in the SAP communit... that WebDynpro requires Adobe to achieve full functionality? That is disappointing, to say the least. And a step back from BSP.
We are building multiple online calculators, and it would be a huge overhead to have to develop (and maintain) an Adobe form for each calculator, simply to enable the user to print the contents of the screen....
I have read in SDN that you can invoke a browser Print command from Java Webdynpro. A class WDPrintService has been provided.

How can it be that this functionality is "not possible" for one flavour of WebDynpro, but plainly available in the other....?

Adding PRINT Button on a List Item Page

Hi,
We have an existing custom list for our asset tracking. We are required to make the list item's page printable by adding a "PRINT" button on it. Currently, a list item's page has a "Close" button together with the following tabs such as: "New Item", "Edit Item", "Delete Item", "Manage Permissions", and "Alert Me". "Print" button should be like the "Close" button. Once the "Print" button will be click then a "Print" window will appear to select the printer to use. It will print only the list item's content and not the whole page.
Is there anyone who implemented as what describes above? Please help me how to implement this.

I checked it and it was almost the same with Andre's posting. I did not try to install since as i understand, i need to do it in the server that hosted our portal which i'm afraid of doing it. I'm not an advanced user of sharepoint so i'm very careful of doing changes or enhancement to our portal.

Adding a print button to iProcurement Requistions View page

Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to add a print button or link to all requesitions that have been approved . This button/link need to invoke a custom Oracle report passing the relevant parameters in this case the requisition number.
I have seen a post whenin tapash has explained how to invoke a report . But what Ineed to know is whether I can add the link/button by personazilation and if so after doing so how to invoke the report.

I thought you had to put the button/link on top of the page, looks like you want it at row level. This makes it more simple, you donot need to extend the controller you can just use personalization and do it. Here is how you do it,
- add the button/link using personalization
- while setting the destinationURI property you need to add a parameter to pass the requisitionId
for example if you need to launch the page http://www.yahoo.com then you need to set the destinationURI as
http://www.yahoo.com&requisitionId={@<viewAtrribute>}
where the viewAttribute represents the viewAttribute name from which the requistionId filed derives it's value. You will be able to find the view attribute name easily using About this page. If you expand the page structure in About this page you should find the viewAttribute mapped to the requisitionId field in the table.

Print button disabled on webdynpro application

I have a requirement to have 'PRINT' button on PDF form generated from webdynpro application.[POWL],whereas my 'SAVE' button enabled.
Please suggest me where I need to check for this settings?
I have checked in POWL_UI_COMP, not found any related stuff.

Printing Adobe form using Webdynpro Java

Hi All,
I have a requirement to integrate data coming from web services onto a adobe form on the Portal.
This form needs to be generated in the background and then automatically sent to the local printer attached to the pc.
The idea is that the user need not preview the form and then send it for printing.
Any suggestions on how this custom functionality could be achieved.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

"Send it for printing" is a bit confusing a statement.
I haven't personally tried this but what you can try to do is use JPS (Java Print Service).

There you can indicate the file stream is a pdf file for printing.

Create web page in webdynpro java

i want to create a web page in webdynpro java like in .net, how can i make a web page i.e. different from a simple webdynpro java page.

As ayyapparaj told, you can create J2EE application with NWDS. it is purely eclipse platform.
Go for Web Module Project where you can have JSP and Servlets, create a Enterprise Application out of Web Module and deploy it.

I recently got a new pc with Windows Vista on it and ever since the 'Printer'-button is gone on the 'Page Setup'-screen. Does anyone know what to do or how i can change my printer linked to the report ?On my XP-computer no problem !!! It only happens on Vista-machines.

Print Button in webdynpro abap?

Hi Gurus,
             I have created a custom button on my webdynpro screen . When I click that button I want to take print out of the particular screen and at the same time I need to hide the buttons (buttons are displaying on print screen option). Can anybody please help me out .

I don't think there is a standard method to hide the button from being included in snap shot of print.
Work around solution1:
Create a button BTN_PRINT and on click of button write the below code before call print_page( )
          i.e. hide the button,
DATA lo_view TYPE REF TO if_wd_view.
DATA lo_btn TYPE REF TO cl_wd_button.
lo_view ?= wd_this->wd_get_api( ).
lo_btn ?= lo_view->get_element( 'BTN_PRINT' ).
lo_btn->set_visible( value = cl_wd_button=>e_visible-none ).
          " Print page
data:
l_api_componentcontroller type ref to if_wd_component,
l_appl type ref to if_wd_application.
l_api_componentcontroller = wd_comp_controller->wd_get_api( ).
l_appl = l_api_componentcontroller->get_application( ).
l_appl->print_page( ).
Note: this hide the button PRINT and on subsequent action, you can make it visible again
Work around solution2 :
you can just create a button with access key ( CTRL + P ), without button text... So that it will not be visible in printing. Users can print by using short cut keys CTRL+P

But lets read before what i am looking for..
There is standard "Print" function available on webdynpro for java iview.. and layout and all its just fine for us. though we want to trigger this event from a screen button. as going to iview properties is very user friendly.
I was looking for some iview api which can help me.. We are on NW 7.01 SP6 at the moment. And this is for standard ESS applications.

Reg: calling default desktop page of enterprise portal from webdynpro java

hi Experts
Here is an scenario where i need to call enterprise portal desktop from webdynpro java application.
Actually i have designed a custom Home page in WDJAVA and this page i have assigned as default frame work page in enterprise portal ,so once we logon through the portal URL wewill be getting this custom home page as default page and when i click on next button it should connect to the predefined SAP given default frame work page.
The thing is i am able to see the custom page and the button but when i click on the button it is opening the same custom home page only not able to log on to portal default frame work page.
My question is how can we connect to the predefined page from the custom home page.
please share your regarding this scenario...

you didnt get my point i vl give in brief
1) that at first we are going to enter the portal URL.
2)we are going give userid and password and click logon button.
3)so once we click on that button it should open custom page what we have designed in by using web dynpro java.with in this application we will have next button which should connect to the sap given predefined default desktop page.
i hope you have got my point.
and more over where can we get the logon action coding in which par file,if so can you give brief information related to it.
i changed the themes master rule collection there i have assigned this custom home page ,but when i click on next button it is opening the same custom it is not connecting to the default desktop.i think this is not the write approach.
please share your knowledge and document also related to it.
