Print module - exporting to a .jpg file - borderless printing

I'm attempting to export a picture as an 8 x 10 .jpg file in the Print Module - I want the image to be borderless. I have gone ahead and changed my page setup to reflect the same dimensions, I've removed margins and I've also gone into the Layout section and adjusted my cell size dimensions and removed margins...I can't seem to get two borders to disappear - if it's a portrait image, the sides have white borders and if it's landscape, the top and bottom have white borders.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. If more information is required, let me know. Thanks!

If your image is not in exact 8x10 (4x5) aspect ratio, you'll need to select the "Zoom to fit" box.

  • How to export layer in jpg files ?

    Hi everyone,
I am trying to develop  a plug-in  for Ai CS4 in which I need to export all the layers in jpg files. Could any one tell me the API that can help  me to  do so ?
or any suggestion how I can do this.
    thanks in advance.

Well, the AIRasterizeSuite (AIRasterize.h) will have tools that let you convert sets of art into raster objects in Illustrator. And the AIArtSetSute (AIArtSet.h) has methods that let you construct said art sets from the contents of layers. From there, you'd have to take the contents of the generated raster objects and save them out manually to JPEG.
Oh, just found another that might be what you want. AIImageOptimization.h has methods like 'AsJPEG', which seem to take an art handle (which could be the group at the root of a layer from the sounds of it). So that would presumably let you do dump that to JPG. It uses AIDataFilters though, and I don't know how those work.
I think this has come up before in this forum, so if you do da little searching you might come across some better help than me. It's definitely doable though.

  • CR10 Exported MS word doc file not print out

My application (CR10, VB6, Oracle10.2) exports MS word doc file to disk, But when I try to print out, not print out at some printer and print out legal size (8.5x14) at some printer. It set up as Letter (8.5x11) I think in CR, page footer is wrong place. How I can change page footer location to move up in the report?
    one more thing...
When I try to open this MS doc file, always prompt pop up and ask "You want to convert to RTF?" I don't understand.
    Thank you.

    Sachiko,
You might want to try exporting to MS Word from within the Crystal Reports Deisgner and see if you get the same behaviour. If it appears correctly from the Designer then it would suggest an issue with the coding in your application and the issue would be better answered in the BO SDK Application Development forums.
I think the footer is in the wrong place due to the incorrect paper size and don't believe that any formatting of the report itself will correct it.

  • When using Pages, I can't seem to print an envelope.  I use file, then print, and see the printer icon come up in the dock showing it received the info but then quickly disappears and nothing gets printed. When I check the printer queue there is nothing

Bear with me, I've not done this before.  I can't seem to reliably print an envelope when using Pages.  I go to "file" click "print", click "ok", see the printer icon flash in the dock with a red "1" (indicating a printing job), but then the icon disappears and nothing gets printed.  I checked the printers queue and there is nothing there.  The funny thing is, after many times hitting "print", twice I've had envelopes printed.  ???  What's the secret?

Have you tested it from other software, such as TextEdit to establish that it is in fact Pages that is the problem?
Step us through Print Setup... and what you select when you send it off to print.

    From the
    Brother MFC-6800 Printer's User Guide:
    How Can I load envelopes:
You can load envelopes from the multi-purpose sheet feeder. Your appliaction software must be set up to print the envelope size you are using. This is usually done in the Page Setup or Document Setup mebnu of your software. Refer to your appliaction manual
It also mentions an issue with paper thickness.

  • Export PDF creates 0kb file and Print Error.

By "Print Error", I mean a simple pop-up window with the pages logo and the sentence "Print. Error while printing" even though I haven't asked for anything to be printed. The resulting pdf file is zero k in size and useless.
I had this problem in iW '06 and thought that '08 might fix it. No dice though.
Deleating prefs did not fix the issue. ['06 or '08]
    Anyone? Thanks.

I suspect that you've turned off a couple fonts with Font Book (or perhaps removed them from the Fonts folder). Pages expects certain fonts to exist - even if we don't use them or even want them.

  • Export layers to JPG file

    Hi,
I wants to export only a single layer as JPEG file in Automation plugin. I have gone through the the implementation in which every layers in the current document is exported as files. But i wants to export any particular layer. I had searched the API for this, but havent got a single may be i am very new to this.
Please guide me with what steps should i follow to achieve this.
    Thanks a lot.

You _may_ actually be able to do what you want by using ActionScript  without even going to the Automation plugin. I'd really explore this  possibility first, since to do your task in C++ you'll have to write  quite a substantial amount of code.
If you have to go though  Automation, start with the Getter plugin from the SDK - it will provide  you with the information about the layers within a document. The rest  depends on how you'd like your plugin to work: if, for instance, you  want a GUI with a layer selection functionality, you probably will have  to write a bunch of functions that use the document descriptor to count  the layers, retrieve their properties and then display them to the user  with some third-party toolkit or native GUI API that will supply you  back with the selected layer's ID or index. You may also simplify your  task and always export the current layer, in which case you need no GUI /  layer enumeration etc
I hope that provides you with enough info to start

  • Print selected pages of a PDF file to printer as a batch job using VB6

    I have the following:
    1) 1,000 multi-paged PDF files (say 00000001.pdf, 00000002.pdf, ..., 00160000.pdf)
    2) A list of pages for each document to print
    (e.g. 00000001.pdf: 2,3,5,7
    00000002.pdf: 3-8, 10
    00001000.pdf: 5,6,7,10)
I want to perform a single batch job to print the specified pages of all 1000 PDF documents to default printer.
I am using VB6, Acrobat Reader 9 installed.
I am thinking of writing a function like that:
Private Function PrintPDF(byval sPDFFilePath as string, byval iPageNum() as integer) as boolean
and then write a looping routine to print the files one by one.
Seems that Acrobat SDK has such feature.
Please advise how can I do this?

I downloaded the Arcobat SDK and now learning to use it with its sample.
However, I got stuck when I run the program BasicIacVB.
I got the following error message:
    Cannot create ActiveX component.
    When running the line
    gApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
I run this program on my PC with VS2005 installed.
What extra step do I need to do to use the sdk?
Seems there's no installation package there...
Sorry about my stupid question, I am a total newbie in AcrobatSDK.
P.S.  My ultimate goal is to develop the program in VB6 (not using VB2005),
as my client PCs does not (and cannot for some reason) install .net framework.

  • Why the exported JPG file looks like completely black?

I've already exported a PDF file by Indesign, but when I exported it to JPG file (by Acrobat), the JPG looks like almost compeletely black. But When I exported it to PNG, or Open this JPG by PS, and save it again, the image looks like normal (no black). This is PDF creating problem ( by indesign) or JPG creating problem (by Acrobat)?

    Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
You can try to search for a theme that looks better for you or maybe a solid persona with a suitable color.

  • Printing issues from InDesign CS4 pdf file

    Good morning,
Could you help explain and possibly resolve an issue I'm having with an InDesign CS4 pdf file where the text and image drop shadows (40%) are printing as solid black blocked shapes from a large format printer. The file encompasses 1 overall image, 1 image with drop shadow, 3 text frames with drop shadow effect applied to the text and 1 group set of simple rectangular and ellipse objects with a glow.
My colleagues in graduate school experienced the same with their files and the output bureau's rasterized the pdf file in Photoshop where it printed out with good resolution. Shouldn't this be resolved first in InDesign rather than rasterizing the file?
I appreciate any help and insight you could offer myself and my colleagues.
    Thank you, Kathryn

The printing service uses Acrobat 8 Pro and HP large format printer. My InDesign CS4 document is in the color mode of RGB and color type as Process. I saved it as a pdf file using the standard settings as follows: Preset: High Quality Print, Standard: None and Compatibility: Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3). Are there options I should be paying more attention to when creating the PDF file? Also, I was reading up on Peter Spier's response links.
This brings me to the next question...I'm creating a photo book for grad school with approximately 40 pages of images (RGB, 300dpi) with feathered drop shadows. What would be the best settings to use when exporting as a pdf file for printing services?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Saving JPG files in Photoshop Elements 10 - what size?

I have used the raw converter to tweek my photos. I want to save file in Jpg format.
Elements asks me what size I want to save:  Low, Medium, large, or maximum.
    I will use the Jpg files for printing either 4 x 6 or 8 x 10.
What dictates the file size to use?

For printing, you would want maximum quality.

  • Borderless Printing US Letter: Doc Margin Question

    Hi everyone,
I have a quick question about printing using HP Photosmart 5510 which offers borderless printing. I have inDesign CS 5 and using Mac OS X Lion.
I'm trying to print a fllyer. After I select my document type to US Letter in inDesign, i placed my jpg flyer (8.5x11) in the document and it fit snug. However, when I selected borderless US letter print, the flyer came out different than what was in inDesign. It seems like inDesign automatically "cropped" the flyer...
Here is what i mean (1st pic is inDesign, 2nd pic is the actual printed flyer). You can see how it's "cropped." The word Naruko should be a few milimeters away from the border, yet when it's printed, it actually got cut off. What's causing this?

I don't have any experience with printers that offer borderless printing, but the thing they have to get around is the gripper margin. In offset printing, the gripper pulls the paper through the press, so you can't have image that goes all the way to the edge of the page on the lead edge. That's why people who need borderless printing on press will use a larger page with crops, and bleed the image into the crop area, so that the cutter can cut through bleed, and if the trim is off by a bit, it will still look like it was printed to the edge.
I know that office printers also have the gripper margin limitation, so I'm not exactly sure how borderless printing is accomplished. Maybe the lead edge is pushed through and grabbed after it's imaged, but that's just a guess. From what I can see in your second image, it looks like the image was placed further down the page than you had intended, which is another limitation to office printers—the fact that there is some amount of drift between where the image is supposed to print and where it actually does. If you pick something on the page and measure from the top edge to it, does it measure the same as it does in InDesign? If it's also a bit lower, then I think you are dealing with the image drifting a bit. If the top is where it should be, I'd double-check that the paper size and the document size aren't off by a bit.

  • More text options in Print Module

It's frustrating to be able to do just about everything in LR - but not quite.  I'd like more text options for the printing module.  For example, when I'm printing a limited edition print, I put the edition number in the bottom left corner, under the image, within the border of the print.  The title goes in the middle, slighty larger font, and then possibly a watermark.
I can use the Identity Plate to create a nice looking title, but the Photo Info will only print in the middle with no options for positioning it anywhere else, or no options for other fonts.

I would second this proposal..... with a serious passion.  I think it is unbelievable that Adobe will not provide us with the option to print the metadata with our images.
The current metadata print options are in the dark ages, a joke and an insult to anyone trying to put a proper caption on a printed image.  For example, one cannot currently control the postion or font of a basic caption, never mind a considered template which might incorporate copyright, date, author, etc..   I also make folios (ala Lenswork).  Unfortunately, a detour to PS also means that this must be done manually, rather than using a template.  Adobe have all the tools to make this work, many of them are in the Slideshow module, so already the code is inside Lightroom.   It is so sad that a company like Blurb can provide these tools free of charge in free software, but Adobe seem incapable of providing these basic features.  I was disappointed they were not in version 1, frustrated when missing from version 2 and  apoplectic when not in version 3. I might excuse the omission if I could build a template in PS which allowed me to place text from the metadata into a formattted page layout, but this is not possible either. So despite the fact I have purchased both Lightroom and Photoshop, and paid for upgrade after upgrade of both products, this basic facility is still missing.
I can only deduce that people in Adobe print images in two modes.
    1) a lonely image in approx middle of the page with no text formatting or
    2) an image in draft mode with a caption and a name plate and uncontolled other text in ad hoc placements (totally unsuitable for presenting to a client).
I would put this requirement ahead of so many other popular requests (even ahead of requests such as networked storage, soft proofing, etc).  I can mention other software products who do a really good job of printing meta data with images, do serious work on sharpening, etc. for a fraction of the cost of the Lightroom / Photoshop combination. Becasue I am on an Adobe site I will not mention the names of these non Adobe products. If these small companies can solve this problem, surely Adobe can do so as well.
I also find that I cannot trust the page setup templates that I do create. It seems to me that many of the properties (ie page size, orientation, matt / gloss options) disappear without warning.  I suspect this happens when I have problems printing to networked Epson printers (maybe others, but I only use Epson ...with Windows 7.)  This is very frustrating when my template changes from Matt in to Gloss, with subsequent wasted of ink and frustration and lost time in correcting and re-updating the template.
Adobe, please finish the Print Module.  I do not want any more glitzy updates to publishing to the most recent social media exchange medium. Can we not get basic printing working first.
(..... thanks for listening.....end of rant).

  • LR3 Print Module: printing to profile - unable to change Color Matching

    Hi
I use LR3 in 32 bit mode (there is no 64bit driver for HP DesignJet 130n).
I always print to profiles. In LR2 I had to make sure that in the PrintSettings the option Color Matching was set to "Vendor Machine", because although I saved this setting, LR never remembered.
Now with LR3 the option is again set to"Color Sync" but this time it cannot be changed.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks
    Bruno

    Bob,
My problem is exactly what you say: you must find the appropriate place in the printer interface where you can disable all color management performed by the printer driver.
In OS X (10.5.) I know only of two places where I can handle Color Management: "Print Settings" and "Profile" in the LR3 Print Module.
By default LR3 sets the Print Settings "Color Matching" to "Vendor Machine" if I choose "Managed by the Printer" for the Profile.
By default LR3 sets the Print Settings "Color Matching" to "ColorSync" if I choose a custom printer/paper profile.
Where/what is "the appropriate place in the printer interface where you can disable all color management performed by the printer driver" ?

  • Printing module features evolution for publishing

    Hello,
I like LR and I was pleased with the printing module... but I wanted to print more complex poster and found out that LR was a little behind!
    Requested features:
         - color layout (very important for contact sheet of different photo format)
         - possiblity to print on the same page different format photo let say one big on top and several other small one on the bottom
         - adding text (Word) or other document type in a frame
in short: be able to design a photo book page...
Or you should have a new publishing module
    Thanks.

A publishing module would probably take an entire cycle worth of work. It's a worthy request from a book point of view, but full DTP? I doubt it. I think having a choice of background colour is a great request, as is more text annotations. I don't think we'll see word doc import, but even cut and paste would work.
