Print output not the same

Hello.
I have a puzzle that I cannot seem to find a solution for.
When trying to print a PDF, one output is not the same as the other; let me explain.
- Open PDF > File > Print > Make sure "Fit to page" is selected > Print = Printout looking good.
However...
- Highlight PDF > Right click > Print = Document is not shrinked to fit, and I lose part of my PDF.
Is there a fix for this?
Using either Acrobat Standard 8 (to the latest update) or Adobe Reader 9 (to the latest update).
Thanks for any input, advice.

Ok, I can see from my first post that the question is not clear.
There are 2 ways to print a PDF document.
Option 1
Opening the PDF, going to File > Print or clicking on the Printer icon.
From there you get the print dialog and you select printer, properties, etc, etc, etc...
This one works fine.
Option 2
By going to the folder where the PDF is stored, right-clicking on the PDF and selecting print (without opening it). This one does give me the printout with the missing margins.
I've looked at the printer settings and printing preferences (from Printers and Faxes), there is no options that I could see to say to always make the document fit. Is there such a setting from inside Acrobat's preferences?
Hope this clarification makes my problem clearer to understand.

• Output not the same as output-settings

People,
I am a starter with Compressor. I recently bought my Mac G5 with
Final Cut Studio. I want to use Compressor for creating M2V-files
for DVD-productions. The source-material I use is 720x576.
Using Compressor the output becomes 720x540.
I use the preset for DVD Best Quality 90 min. In the summary I can
read that it will be exported in 720x576.
Still the result is a M2V-file in 720x540.
What is the reason for this and how can I become M2V-files in
720x576-resolution? I use version 1.2
Thank you.
G5 Mac OS X (10.4.6)

No need to worry - your file is 720x576. The 720x540 frame size in QuickTime Player is due to the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component.
In case you haven't already, when you import your file into DVDSP, it will be read as 720x576.

how do I set up my Imac to allow using both my computer speakers and a Bose SoundLink system as outputs at the same time. I can use one or the other, but not both. From systems Preferences I must select one or the other. I want both to work all the time.

Hi,
I would recommend you to use 0FI_AP_4 rather using both, particularly for many reasons -
1. DS: 0FI_AP_4 replaces DataSource 0FI_AP_3 and still uses the same extraction structure. For more details refer to the OSS note 410797.
2. You can run the 0FI_AP_4 independent of any other FI datasources like 0FI_AR_4 and 0FI_GL_4 or even 0FI_GL_14. For more details refer to the OSS note: 551044.
3. Map the 0FI_AP_4 to DSO: 0FIAP_O03 (or create a Z one as per your requirement).
4. Load the same to a InfoCube (0FIAP_C03).
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

• Printing on paper not the same as on screen

In CS4, when I look at a preview of my print, and select 'no margins' in the printer driver, it looks perfect. Why is it that the paper print area is not the same? I mean that the image is cropped on the paper by a small amount.
I'm sure the answer is obvious, but life is being made difficult until I find it!
Thanks.

> Does CS4 have an option for this somewhere?
Not that I'm aware of. You could, however, try creating an action that would expand the canvas by a fraction of an inch in each direction and experiment with that.
It is also worth checking carefully all of the options within the print driver of your printer. Some printers have options for reducing or eliminating the borderless overspray (I think Epson refers to it as "Expansion" on some of its printers). Many don't.
QImage is also an alternative as you mention.

• How to Print File as the same as picture/fax viewer ?

Hallo :
I wrote a program which can let the specified png file to be printed. (png file is about 17xx * 11xx, output to A4 paper)
The goal is the print result as the same as the windows built-in picture/fax viewer (by Full Page Fax Print Mode)
And I don't want the printer dialog to be appeared. So I tried to use java print service to achieve this goal.
Now I can print the file by printer.
But comparing to the result which is printed by the windows built-in picture fax viewer(use Full Page Fax Print Mode), my result looks like zoom in, not full page.
I tried some classes of javax.print.attribute.standard package, but no one worked.
So I tried to transform the image by myself. And I found a resource : [http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/2D/reference/faqs/index.html#Q_How_do_I_scale_an_image_to_fit]
It looks like what I wanted. But when I implemented the functionality according to that reference. The result is still the same, still zoom in...
I must said I am unfamiliar with java 2D. But this is a problem I must solve.
If the problem can be solved by only setting some classes of javax.print.attribute.standard, it's better.
But if can't be solved by that way, the transformation method is ok, too.
So does anyone can help me to solve this problem or pointed where I was wrong ? Thank you very much.

Thanks for the reply.
Now my algorithm which I used is when the height of image is smaller than the height of A4 paper and the width of image
is larger than the width of A4 paper, I will rotate 90 degree of the image first, then I will scale the image.
Then I can get the approaching result when the width and height of the image are larger than the width and height of A4 paper.
But there was an additional error. That is when the width of image is larger than the width of A4 paper and
the height of image is smaller than the height of A4 paper. (like 17xx * 2xx).
Although the print result template is approaching the picture/fax viewer. But the print quality is so bad.
The texts are discontinue. I can see the white blank within the text. (the white line are the zone which printer doesn't print)
First I thought this problem might be DPI issue. But I don't know how to keep the DPI when rotating ?
(I dumped the rotate image, it rotates, but didn't keep the DPI value)
Does anyone know how to solve this strange problem ? Thanks a lot.

Hi Abijit,
Whatever changes made in STANDARD SELECETION SCREEN 1000 or screens generated using 'SELECTION-SCREEN' statements, are not permanent.
It will get back to its original appearance, while you execute again or some time later.
Whenever you get into 'CHANGE' mode of these screens, an information will be displayed as follows ;

• My exported edited image in TIFF-16bit is not the same as my edited RAWfile

Hi! First and foremost my problem is not speed. I have learn to deal with Aperture's slowness while editing or exporting images and not real time brush strokes and occassional crashes. It thought me PATIENCE!
My problem are my exported image from Aperture, The images are not rendered the same exact way as the RAW image I edited (quality-sharpness-saturation-definition-etc.) in Aperture. The rendering is WAY OFF. I even exaggerate in Sharpness and contrast in rendering my RAW images yet my exported (both TIFF -16 bit or JPEG orig. size) are way softer than the one I originally rendered in RAW at Aperture 3.0.2. Even the COLORS are OFF-saturation, luminance, etc. It's not my Monitor or my Eyes, I asked 3 friends to help me validate my concern. After viewing my exported (TIFF or Jpeg) images on an external preview browser, I re-import them to Aperture and put them- (the exported images) in the same Projects where the Original RAW file is located, then I carefully compare them in Full Screen view, I can totally say that they're not the same quality, sharpness, saturation, tonal value!
It's very frustrating to experience this. I work really hard on every single image, I tolerate the sluggishness, the crashes, All I want are my image output render the way I rendered them in RAW file in regards to sharpness, color value and just the overall look that I wanted in my images. BTW I just downloaded the recent March 22, 2011 update. But still it's still having this problem.
Please help me all you good knowledgable, compassionate Aperture experts help an Aperture user in distress.
Thanks for your time. I appreciate any positive feedback and help.

Richard,
You are not going crazy, this is a well documented throughout the web
Sorry, but the web is not documentation for Aperture.
I cannot understand why Apple have not resolved this
For one, it takes time to fix a bug, and the have to know about it. Have you told Apple that this is a problem through Aperture feedback? Second, someone at Aperture has to prioritize what their engineers work on. Since this does not seem to be a problem for very many people (including the well-regarded contributors whom you were trying to offend in your other post on this topic), it may turn out that it has a low priority for Apple.
Please Apple sort this out!
Apple does not contribute to this forum and there's no reason to believe they will read this particular message and make a bug report.

I have an e printer and the printer is on the same network as the iPad. When I attempt to print from the iPad I get a message no printers available. How can I get my iPad to recognize the e printer?

This printer has worked for me with out fail at my house. I am traveling in an RV and am at the mercy of the RV Wifi. I do not have access to the router. The printer has been recycled a number of times as well as the Ipad. The printer is set up and has access to the wifi. It seems to me that the Ipad and Iphone are not recognizing the connection with the e printer. I was hoping there was some adjustment that could be made to the Ipad and Iphone. I can email to the printer from both gadgets. I will try to recycle the devices again.

Are you using the virtual keyboard to input your password and you cannot see/find the characters you need on that keyboard?
Or are you trying to use a bluetooth keyboard and pressing the printed key does not produce the right character?

• [CDATA] not the same way read in DOM and SAX (DOM: O.K., SAX: not O.K.)

I wrote a test application that reads a XML file. First method reads it via DOM in a Document object, second that reads it via SAX in a string. The output is almost the same but the character data is different:
while the dom outout is as expected:
<hap>EUSF</hap>

WADDELL&REED ADV BOND CL Y

the SAX output is different:
<hap>EUSF</hap>

as both elements have text data, only the second is enclosed in a <![CDATA]> value. The DOM output is the same as when displayed the XML in internet explorer, so i guess this is the correct result. but my SAX reader does not display the <![CDATA]> value ...
to get the sax output i subclassed DefaultHandler and overwrote the methods like described in the Web Service Tutorial "Echoing an XML File with the SAX Parser" (http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/ea2/tutorial/doc/JAXPSAX3.html#64190):
* Overwrites super.
* Receive notification of character data inside an element.
public void characters(char buf[], int offset, int len) {
String s = new String(buf, offset, len);
if (!s.trim().equals("")) { //suppress output of characters that are all whitespace
write(s);
}//characters()
the characters() method has the content of an element, but it has not the information if a CDATA is enclosing the data or not(?). How can this be done?

There's a thing called a LexicalHandler (org.xml.sax.ext.LexicalHandler) that has startCDATA and endCDATA methods. The API documentation suggests that you could create your own LexicalHandler and use it somehow, but it doesn't give you a nicely packaged example. I don't have an example of it either, sorry.
However despite what you say, those two outputs are not different. In XML terms they are identical and parsers will treat them identically.

• GetClientID not the same with request map in a dataTable

Hi,
I have a dataTable with multiple rows of same input text box (which has a required="true" validation attribute), the generated id in request map is something like (because it's repeating in a dataTable)
formname:_id0:0:firstname
formname:_id0:0:lastname
but the .getClientId() method of UIComponet is NOT the same! When I try to getClientID, for the same componet (recusively gong the tree), I get
formname:_id0:firsntame
formname:_id0:lastname
how do I retreive the correct id? or why is it not getting the right client ID?
The reason I'm manually going through the tree is because I need to do some custom logic of checking each componet in the page, see if it's required, if it is, I'm going to do add custom required messge for them (all this is implemented in a phaseListener)
thanks.

Hi,
thanks for replying.
Basically, I have need to customize error message for validation, so I adopted the code here by implmenting a phaseListener.
http://www.jroller.com/comments/ksevindik/Weblog/customizing_jsf_required_field_messages
which in turn derived from
http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/masterj2ee/j2ee_wk7.html
If take a look at the code above, in the validateValue() method, it's checking for component .submittedValue properties. This normally works for forms by itself.... but when the form field are repeated inside a dataTable, the
inputComponent.getSubmittedValue() becomes null.
I was confused, so I tried to output the clientID of the inputComponent by
inputComponent.getClientID(),
Only then, i noticed that the ID is not the same as the ID in requestMap, mabye that's why inputComponent.getSubmittedValue() is null.
Let me rephrase the question, how do I access the text box value in any row of a dataTable? (Note, the value has NOT been updated into the model yet because I'm trying to get the value in validation phase)
Thanks again. REALLY appreicate it.

• PDF output not retaining same formatting as done in RTF

Hi All,
I have created a RTF template and need to show the output in PDF. Now in the RTF, as per the requirements, I am not enclosing my form fields in any table or inside any tabular cells. So I have to display the output something like this
Name : Peter
Age : 30 years
Address : New Jersy
Dept : Accounts
but after placing the form fields in their right places, when I see the output in PDF, the formatting is lost and values are NOT displayed at their desired places as set in the RTF template. So I get the PDF output something like this
Name : Peter
Age:
30 years
Address :
New Jersy
Dept :
Accounts
Is there a method to fix the form fields so that they don't move and i get the output in the same way as I have designed in the RTF template.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
