PDF output not retaining same formatting as done in RTF

Hi All,
I have created a RTF template and need to show the output in PDF. Now in the RTF, as per the requirements, I am not enclosing my form fields in any table or inside any tabular cells. So I have to display the output something like this
Name : Peter
Age : 30 years
Address : New Jersy
Dept : Accounts
but after placing the form fields in their right places, when I see the output in PDF, the formatting is lost and values are NOT displayed at their desired places as set in the RTF template. So I get the PDF output something like this
Name : Peter
Age:
30 years
Address :
New Jersy
Dept :
Accounts
Is there a method to fix the form fields so that they don't move and i get the output in the same way as I have designed in the RTF template.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ronny

In Adobe Pro XI when converting an excel file to a pdf, the pdf is not retaining the page size settings.  Has anyone found a fix for this?

It shouldn't print each page as a separate job and
each tab has a different name, so, even if it did, it
ought to give the printouts the name of the tabs.
It doesn't print each page as a separate job unless the orientation is different - that's the bug. And the name of the job is taken from the name of the window, not the name of the tabs. That's how every application works, which, I think, is why Excel allows the specific selection or the active sheets to be printed.
Still, that does sound like a plausible explanation.
However, even if presented with multiple prints with
the same name, the spooler should print each one!
The spooler does print each one - you can watch the spooler process the multiple jobs. I think, though, that they are being overwritten since all the jobs have the name of the window as the job title. And since this happens after the Save Dialog is presented, there's really nothing the application can do. To Excel, it's one job, the multiple orientations don't matter; it's just that Apple doesn't handle it correctly.
As a workaround, you can print the selections one at a time and give them unique names and then rejoin them in one PDF file.

  • Browser: Print to PDF does not retain hyperlinks

    Hi,
I was wondering if someone can give me some guidance.
I have several html pages that contain numerous hyperlinks throughout the page
On each page there is a javascript print button (ie. onclick="window.print();returnfalse..........)
Whenever a user chooses the option from the print dialog box to print the page to Adobe PDF,  the output (pdf) does not retain the hyperlinks.
Is there a way, feature, or product that will allow external users to print to pdf and still have the hyperlinks work?

Printing to PDF never includes interactive elements - it is what it says, a digital copy of a printed page. No links on a sheet of paper = no links on a PDF printout.
To retain interactive content you must save the page as a PDF, for example using the Acrobat plugin for IE or Firefox.

  • Smartform output not displaying, no formatting affected on output and shows formatting Error.

    Hi Guys,
I am new to SAP and working in Smartforms now. I am facing an issue that the output screen is not showing any formatting done during the design phase. Not even font changes are displaying, instead only showing the default Courier font. No Bold as well as italics too. And borders also showing some problems.
It was working properly till the last day and suddenly it gone faulty. Hence I cannot run the form and when  I try to run it, it displays nothing. I have been designing a Tax Invoice. When I tried to execute the smartform from the form itself, it was showing Formatting Error.
What is the solution for this? I am using ECC 6. Please share your views.

    Hi Sanjeev,
I've not made any changes to the formatting (Fonts and Borders) and I cross checked it many times.
Everything is fine and Times used everywhere as Font. It is showing the same in the design too but in the output, it comes as Courier !! (May be default settings in case there is some exceptions, I don't know)
I tried another report, pick list form, which too showing the same things. As we have developed only two reports, we cannot check more. The standard SAP forms are displaying as is, but the problem is with the newly designed ones.(Standard forms too are displaying in Courier font)
I think it might be any problem related to the output graphical properties of the smart forms...!!! I am not sure but I need expert advice from you if there is any such scenarios...

  • Barcode in PDF output not coming in Oracle R12.1.3

    Hi,
We have a rtf template for Invoice report. In this report we have to display barcode in PDF output. In our development instance barcode is coming properly. But in our test instance barcode is not coming(same template is available in Development and Test instance).
We are using wocrb.ttf and w128l.ttf font files and we have these files available at $OA_JRE_TOP/lib/fonts path.
Also, we have config file available on $OA_JRE_TOP/lib directory. and this config file has correct path of both the font files.
Still the barcode is not coming in Test instance.
Request you all to please help me with this issue.
    Thanks,
    SA

PDF requires the font be registered correctly, since it is not appearing you have missed something in your configuration.
The most common error is the font family name does not exactly match the font name in Word. (Open the font on your PC and the name is present there also.)
You can use the xdodebug.cfg troubleshooting method,  then see what error appears in the xdo.log when the font is accessed.
See the following note for xdo.log:

  • Print output not the same

    Hello.
I have a puzzle that I cannot seem to find a solution for.
When trying to print a PDF, one output is not the same as the other; let me explain.
    - Open PDF > File > Print > Make sure "Fit to page" is selected > Print = Printout looking good.
    However...
    - Highlight PDF > Right click > Print = Document is not shrinked to fit, and I lose part of my PDF.
Is there a fix for this?
Using either Acrobat Standard 8 (to the latest update) or Adobe Reader 9 (to the latest update).
    Thanks for any input, advice.

Ok, I can see from my first post that the question is not clear.
There are 2 ways to print a PDF document.
    Option 1
Opening the PDF, going to File > Print or clicking on the Printer icon.
From there you get the print dialog and you select printer, properties, etc, etc, etc...
    This one works fine.
    Option 2
By going to the folder where the PDF is stored, right-clicking on the PDF and selecting print (without opening it). This one does give me the printout with the missing margins.
I've looked at the printer settings and printing preferences (from Printers and Faxes), there is no options that I could see to say to always make the document fit. Is there such a setting from inside Acrobat's preferences?
Hope this clarification makes my problem clearer to understand.

  • Table of Contents page numbers works for PDF but not for other formats

    Hi,
I followed exactly was indicated here regarding creation of TOC.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/e12187/T421739T481157.htm
The page numbers generated correctly for PDF but not for RTF, HTML and XLS.
(HTML and XLS are understandably not paginated in nature but why not in RTF?)
Tried to make the simplest example work, with 2 headings each on a separate page. Doesn't work on either MSWord 2003 or 2007.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Kavipriya,
What is your email address? I have attached a file in Oracle Metalink, under SR 3-5172030861. named test_toc.rtf
You may use any xml because the template does not use any dynamic binding of values.
The template is basically 2 pages, the TOC in the 1st page. First TOC item (Heading 1) is in Page 1, and Second TOC item is in Page 2.
So the end result should be (PDF result from BI Publisher):
    First TOC Item .................. 1
    Second TOC Item ............. 2
    But for RTF it outputs:
    First TOC Item .................. 0
    Second TOC Item ............. 0
And after doing Print Preview (once or twice)
First TOC Item .................. Error in Bookmark
Second TOC Item ............. Error in Bookmark
Hope this is detailed enough to illustrate the problem.

  • PDF output not including links

I've searched these forums and read posts that the problem with links not working in PDF output should have been fixed in version 6. I'm using RoboHelp HTML 8 (with all suggested patches), but when I create a PDF output it has no links in body text or in the Related Topics list at the end of each topic. I went into the PDF settings dialog box and checked for the PDF to include links, but it's not working.
I'm developing in Windows XP creating WebHelpPro.
What must I do to get links to work in a PDF (other than on the Bookmarks tab)?
    Thank you.
    Sylvia

    Hi Sylvia
Out of curiosity, what do the links point to?
My thought is perhaps it is a type of link that isn't really capable of being transferred to PDF.
    Cheers... Rick

  • PDF Output Not Displaying Turkish Characters

    Hi,
We've configured BI 7.0 System with an Standalone Portal+BI Java System running both on SP11 Stack without problem.
For BI Web Reports, we're taking PDF Outputs and getting Turkish Character Problems. On the screen we can see everything correct, even Excel Export displays Turkish Characters without problem but PDF Export is wrong. I've checked the "<b>Note 1007116 - Form output in incorrect language</b>" but not sure whcih form to check? And also if this is the problem?
If anyone can help us, it'll be great

    Hi Ade,
I tried all possible combinations of fetching the data. Writing a PL/SQL function and assigning the data to placeholder in before report trigger. Also, tried to use a query and then assign the data to placeholder through formula column. Directly assigining the database column on field without using placeholder.
While trying all the above options, I ensured that width is set to 4000 characters.
But all in vain. It works fine for 2000 characters but not able to print 4000 characters.

  • PDF output not printing specific Czech character

    Hi,
On the XML template i have harcoded some Czech characters like, měna & Peněžní
if any Czech character has small v on top of the character, then the report output prints as ? instead of that character. For examplae, měna & Peněžní in PDF output prints as m?na & Pen??ní . It prints rest of the Czech characters correctly. The issue happens only with PDF output. When i keep the Format as EXCEL then it prints the Czech characters correctly. Can any one help me on this issue.
    Thanks

  • PDF output not showing all 4000 characters

    Hi,
I have a placeholder column of character data type and its width is 4000. When I execute the report and see it pdf output it shows only 1980 characters with last line characters going beyond the report margins.
Is there a way to display all 4000 characters?
    Thanks,

  • Acrobat 9 Pro PDF is not retaining original page settings from Word doc

The document I am trying to put into PDF format (from Word 2000, using Acrobat 9 Pro (trial version)) drops my original Word page settings (5.5" x 8.5") and defaults to 8.5" x 11" in the PDF.  Using "Crop Pages" does not remedy the situation - the doc just stays at the larger size in Acrobat/PDF. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong?

Change the paper size in the printer properties before creating the PDF. This is the same as putting the proper paper in a physical printer.

  • Image in PDF output not good

I am embedding an image in the Indesign document and outputting it as a PDF file. The image in the PDF file is not really clear. It appears pixellated. It is a JPG image and I tried both lossy and lossless compression. But the same image (it is a black and white sketch) embedded in MS Word comes out very well. Can I know the reason?

The blurryness and pixellation is due to the preview setting on the placed object. Faster processing if you handle multiple HQ images/objects.
To change the preview setting. Select an object, right klick (for i386) and goto "Display performance". Select "High Quality Display". You will see the preview quality of the object change. Sometimes, if the object is not linked, the blurryness will also come out when the ID-doc is exported to PDF or printed... even though the settings is "High Quality Display".

  • R12.1.3 - Reports 10g PDF Output not opening from SRS window

    Gurus,
Your help will be highly appreciable for the below context.
While trying to open a report output, following error occurs and won't show the PDF format correctly.
"There was an error processing a page. There was a problem reading this document(135)".
Object Type : Reports 10g with graph
Conc Program Output Type : PDF
Note: Currently issue happening only in DEV instance not in UAT/Prod instance.
    Thank You.

    Hi,
When you click View Output, press the Control key and see if you get an open/save dialog. If one is displayed, save the document and try opening it directly from the PDF reader.
If this does not resolve the issue, post a screenshot of the error.

  • FM10: PDF output not including part of graphic in header

    Here are my versions: (TCS3.0)
    FM 10.0.1.402
    Acrobat 10.1.1
    Distiller 10.1.133
I have a book recently created in FM10. I needed to add a very large table. I followed Barb Binder's instructions for setting up landscape master pages (from the IconLogic 8/9/11 Skills & Drills newsletter). Everything worked perfectly. I was able to create the master pages and body pages using them, and eventuallly get the large table in the doc file. So far so good... I wanted to see how the new pages and table would look in PDF, so I did a File > Save as PDF. The PDF was created as expected.
However, I have a strange issue with our company logo in the header. It's in the header on all pages of this document and looks fine on all pages in FM - both on the body and master pages. But in the PDF, the last letter of the company name is cut off. I cannot figure out what's going on. I've also tried to Print to File using the Adobe PDF printer and creating a PS file that I then distilled to PDF. Same problem no matter what method I use. In the PDF, the logos on all non-landscape pages are fine.
    Here are some screen caps.
The document open in FM - this shows the Telesoft logo on left and right body pages using the landscape master pages:
Here is the LandscapeLeft master page:
    The LandscapeRight master page:
Here's a screen cap of a LandscapeLeft page in the PDF:
Here's a screen cap of a LandscapeRight page in the PDF:
Notice the final "T" missing for the header graphic on both the right and left pages. On the master page, there is plenty of room in the anchored frame that holds the graphic, so the frame isn't cutting anything off. The exact same headers are used on both the regular and landscape master pages and all is well in the PDF for the regular pages.
    I really appreciate any suggestions!
    Kim

I wonder if you repeated your steps with a *.png graphic if you would see the truncation in the horizontal layout?
OK, I tried it....interesting, but mixed results.
I created a portrait master page, deleted the header text frame, and imported a png image onto it. The png is on the page, not inside a frame. I then rotated the portrait page to a landscape master page. After several other imports, I have the following on the landscape master page.
    1. The png from the original PORTRAIT master page.
    2. The png imported to the LANDSCAPE master page without further rotation.
    3. The png imported to the landscape master page with a rotation to match 1.
    4. The png imported into the footer TEXT frame (which is now perpendicular on the left side of the page). This created an anchored frame to hold the png.
    5. The standard text frame for the body text.
    6. A copy of 4 but rotated back to portrait.
Then, on the body page that uses this lanscape master page, I imported the png. As per normal, this created an anchored frame below the line to hold the png. Of course it is rotated 90 degrees clockwise, because the text frame was rotated with the page.
    RESULTS in the PDF:
    a. ALL the png images were complete, EXCEPT 1 and 4. Interestingly, 1 was clipped on the right (bottom in landscape) and 4 was clipped on the left (top in landscape).
    b. The png in 4 was NOT selectable, as Kim noted. When I clicked it, only the anchored frame was selected. When rotated back to zero degrees (6), the png was then selectable.
    HOWEVER:
I was going to show a screen shot, but the png I used had company information in it. So, I created a png (Photoshop) of a flower, and created another master page with all six items.
    c. THIS master page showed NO clipping on ANY of the png images.
    d. To be complete, I created another png image from an eps file using Illustrator to mimic the workflow that created my original png. AND there was NO clipping of any of the png images in the PDF.
So, the results are mixed. But my tests indicate that the best way to create the master page is to rotate the page FIRST, then import the logo image. Do rotation after the import to get it into the correct orientation. DO NOT import the image into a background text frame (header or footer or other) that is on the master page. This creates an anchored frame holding the image, but the image is not selectable.
    Hope this helps,
    Van
