Print PDF error msg in apex oracle BI publisher

Hi, I am getting error msg, "File can not be open because either it is not supported file type or file has been damage" when clicking Print PDF button from Apex oracle run application on oracle server...please help...

I see this error when generating BI-Publisher reports that return no data. Check your query to verify it returns data. Also check that any bind variables used by the query have appropriate values.
If it is the case where your query returns no data but you'd like to avoid the confusing message you can code around it by adding the following logic in your report template. For this work around to work it assumes you've got BI-Publisher licensing (you can create report queries and report templates through shared components).
In the following example it is assumed that the xml structure has a REGION element. You can substitute the REGION element with whatever element works for your xml structure.
Example XML structure
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<ROWSET>
  <ROW>
    <REGION>Central Office</REGION>
    <LOCATION>Materials Management</LOCATION>
    <DIRECTOR>Blow, Joe</DIRECTOR>
    <NOTES />
  </ROW>
  <ROW>
    <REGION>Second Region</REGION>
    <LOCATION>Accounts Payable</LOCATION>
    <DIRECTOR>Blow, Jill</DIRECTOR>
    <NOTES />
  </ROW>
</ROWSET>Add code like the following to your template. The code looks to see if records exist in the xml structure. If records DO NOT EXIST then it will return a pdf with the statement "No Data Found for Specified Search Criteria". Of course if data exists... you'll see that on your report.
<?if: REGION  = ''?>
     No Data Found For Specified Search Criteria
<?end if?>
<?if: REGION != ''?>
    your_data_group_starts
    your report template definition
    your_data_group_ends
<?end if?>

  • How To Print After Error Msg: Unable to convert postscript file

    We installed "Maverick" on our MacBook Pro and our printer is a HP 8600.  We were unsuccessful in getting our Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 to print our PDF files.  Instead, we got the error msg: Printing Stopped: unable to convert postscript file.  We have used this application for years without any problems.  How do we solve this problem so that our application WILL "convert postscript file" or do we have to spend several hundred dollars to upgrade?

    I think we solved the problem.  Instead of looking for the solution via Adobe, we went to our printer info online, which was the HP OfficeJet 8600.  We found special printer drivers for our newly installed Maverick operating system for our MacBook Pro.  After downloading and installing the new drivers per the directions, we tested printing a pdf document and it was printed without any problem.

  • Print PDF error

    I am having this particular error when I do a “Print PDF” from my VC application. It gives me a pop-up for all the settings from BEX but eventually gives me an “Error Generating PDF”. I and my BASIS team have been working on the solution for a while like ADS setup (which is on different server), reactivating the 0Analysis_pattern from Business content etc.
    We have BI 7.0 with the patch 10
    VC version is 7
    Have ADS setup on the server which is Configured correctly to have ADS.
    And I have put in the Formula correctly as described in one of the "HOW TO GUIDES" which is

  • Printing PDF Error from Acrobat Reader on Firefox

    Hi all !
    I have a website, that can generate PDF Files. Recently, when I generate a PDF from Firefox, and the PDF file is a bit large (like 18MB or 30MB), I can't print if from Firefox.
    The fact is that the preview of the PDF is shown correctly by Adobe Reader plugin, and it is specially in that case when it crashes. I can't print from it and also, I can download to my Desktop but when I open the downloaded file, error (corrupt file).
    The error thrown by Firefox is: (Preview Error. An error occurred when printing. It's not the explicit message because I had translated from Spanish but I think that it's the same)
    I tried from OSX Safari and runs properly, and the diferential fact is that Safari uses native PDF suport, any Adobe Plugin, even when I open from my Desktop, the saved generated file, If I open with Adobe Reader crashes, If I open with Apple Native Preview, runs fine.
    I give you a testing extract:
    Over Firefox 37.0.1, OSX 10.9.5 and Adobe Reader 11.0.10: Printing crashes and file Opening Crashes (File Size 16,9MB)
    Over Safari 7.1.2, OSX 10.9.5 and Adobe Reader 11.0.10: Printing runs fine and file Opening runs fine (File Size 16,9MB)
    Over Firefox 30, Windows7 Ult. x64  and Adobe Reader 11.0.10: Printing crashes and file Opening Crashes (File Size 30,4MB)
    Testing has been done with multiple source and content PDF files
    Could be caused by some updates?
    Any idea?
    Many thanks

    Hi barcelonamsg
    Are you able to print any other pdf files that aren't generated using that website?

  • Officejet Pro L7555 Hangs when printing,windows error msg - APPCRASH,spoolsv.exe

    I have an OfficeJet Pro L7555 all in one printer.
    I have tried and the same result on 2 different computers.I have reinstalled the entire software on one of the computers - result is still the same.
    I just scanned a page to a pdf file and it did that ok.
    What happens is:
    1) i click to print and the job get sent to the printer,it starts to print and somewhere on the first page is halts sometimes with the page partly out of the chute where a completely printed page would land.I just tried to print 1 page and it did not print that page but a page that i was trying to print last night.Last night i switched the Printer off and also pulled the power plug out.
    2) it then usually tries to print the other pages,halts along the way and starts again,and the last time, it did not even print all of the whole page,and i can also get blank pages.
    3) and i get a Windows popup error box that says APPCRASH and the application is spoolsv.exe, i think,and options to find a solution online or to close
    The printer is about 2 yrs old and i do not use it very much,so i dont think it is wear and tear and worn out parts,but is there something that needs replacing that is routine? But I am suspecting a memory problem on the printer though.Is this possible?? as it has printed a page that i was trying to print last night and it did it twice instead of printing 2 different pages and i suspect it is having a problem with the memory of what to print.
    Thanks for any help in advance

  • Weird print/pdf error when images are over a table

    Hi all
    I'm having a trouble with Pages where if I have an image over a table (so it looks like it's in the box) it can cause the table borders to go missing. As this is a little hard to describe I have made a pdf file showing the problem...
    http://homepage.mac.com/sonicisblue/FileSharing29.html
    As you can see, the first page appears fine, where as the second page's table borers have gone...
    I have the same problems throughout the document, regardless of whether I print to a printer or print to PDF.
    If someone could help I'd be very grateful. Thanks!
    Adam
    MacBook, 1.83 Ghz, 1.25 GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Ah - I've spent a lot of time mastering tables in Pages - they could be a wonderful tool for lots of things - my favourite being positioning photo captions right beneath the picutre...
    Re your problem, try this:
    - double click the cell in the table (you will see yellow highlight around it)
    - go to Object Inspector, then choose Image Fill, then either choose your image (photo) from the folder you'd saved it in or open Media from the toolbar and click and drag the image you want in the cell from the Media dialogue window to the little window in the Object Inspector (it shows a green plus sign when it's ready to be imported)
    See if your photo best fits the cell with Image Fill set to 'Scale to Fit' or 'Scale to Fill'. You may have to crop the original photo if the way the picture fills the cell doesn't suit you. Go back to iPhoto (or import your image to iPhoto), duplicate it, crop the duplicate (so as not to loose the original image) and repeat the procedure.
    This helped me. See several articles I published on working with tables on:

    Hi,
    You not need to install a jre environment first. Oracle takes his own.
    The message means : I cannot find the developpment environment.
    Have you installed the "compat-libstdc" package ?
    I suppose it is not. You need it and some other too.

  • USPS printing PDF error.

    I try to print on the USPS website and the option to print the PDF (or even create it) never shows up. I tried booting up in 32bit mode and it worked. Is this a Safari thing or Adobe thing? I updated to Reader 9

    Hello Z:
    I just posted this elsewhere - a fix, I think:
    I found the answer to the USPS issue by talking to a really technically competent person at USPS>
    At the moment, Safari does not work. Use Firefox.
    Here is what you need to do:
    1. Be sure you have the latest version of Adobe reader installed (and only one). Open reader. Go to preferences>internet. Unclick +"display PDF in browser using"+
    2. Open Firefox>preferences>applications. Scroll down to PDF file. The window should show Adobe reader. If it has "default" after Adobe reader, select other and then select Adobe reader from the options. Close the preferences.
    3. Go to the USPS site and try to print a sample label.
    This worked for me.

  • TS3274 can not connect printer..error msg can not find airport printer  printer wireless to airport extreme

    printer not recognised.  Printer wirelessly  connected to airport extreme.  iPad will not find printer

    Thank you so much Paul_31 for your suggestions, HUGELY appreciate the effort
    I have reset the printing system, a few times for good measure but nadda.
    I have also looked at getting the software from the Apple site after seeing that with Snow Leopard you should let the operating system lead the install not the manufacteurers software as it is most likely out of date.  I too found it wasn't there so I uninstalled the software got up the CLX_3300 series stuff then went from there with the USB cable.  It apparently hasn't worked either
    Unfortunately now after using the print utility to scan for a while that has now gone again on the last restart of the Mac.  I am so completely clueless
    The box says the printer is compatible, the place of purchase said it was compatible, the Samsung site says it is compatible.
    I think it's the set up of my Mac? Our maybe a glitch in the network settings?
    Thanks again

  • Download CSV/XLS/PDF Error

    Hi Folks,
    When I go to download a report in xls or pdf format, I get an error. I am told firstly, in the PDF case:
    Adobe Reader could not open 'customers.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
    and in the XLS case
    The file you are trying to open, 'customers2s.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extention. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?
    In the PDF case, I open the file and see nothing. In the XLS case, I open the file and see
    "ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    and a line of links from the footer, including 'Home" "Application 1----", "Edit Page 1", "Create" "Session" "Activity" "Debug" "Hide edit links" etc.
    However, on some other pages I do print out the reports (which have fewer columns) and I get nice reports in the xls case, but weird results in the pdf case (oddly shaped short and wide pages that are all blank - with a 1:8 ratio in the number of pages:number of records in teh original report).
    Does anyone know what might be causing my problem(s)? Throughout all my reports, both the fully problematic and less problematic ones, I have 850 records.

    If you don't install either FOP or BI Publisher (or add-on libraries PL/PDF), than you {color:#ff0000}CAN NOT{color} print PDF style files with APEX..
    (Check out this link to see how to accomplish setting up BI Publisher and/or FOP and the integration with APEX)

    I would appreciate a lot if anyone of you guys can help me figure this out

    Hello Tux Dueñas,
    I think you need to have ACL's setup in Oracle 11g in order to be able to connect to the BI Publisher server. Check the following link on how to setup ACL's in 11g...

    Hi Marc!
    I uninstalled BI EE. Then I installed Bi EE again. I selected the Basic setup and BI Publisher only. BI Publisher has been successfully installed on my computer.
    The number of port is 9704. (My previous mistake was the port number - 80!!!).
    Then I start oc4j.
    I tried Application Builder home page built-in report. It's work fine!
    But i received some problems with print report in my own application.
    If i selected "Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)" in source settings of my region i received an empty PDF file (0 bytes).
    When i selected "English (United-States) en-us in Globalization settings and also
    selected "Use Query-Specific Column Names and Validate Query" in source settings of my region i received the fine report.
    I am using the "Default report Layout".
    But I want to receive the report based on "Query-Specific Column Names and Validate Query". And also I want to have "Russian (ru) Globalization settings in my application.
    Do your have any advice ?
    Regards,
    Roman.
