  • Send data directly to a printer from an RT system

forgive my ignorrance here, I have tried searching for this but could find any similar posts.
we currently have a PXI RT system which sends data via the datasocket server to a host PC which is connected to a printer, in the event of an alarm generated by the PXI system an error log is printed by the host PC which contains some timestamp details in text. this config works fine.
i woudl like my PXI RT system to print text data dirctly to a printer connected to the PXI controller unit, is this possible ?
    please advise
    thanks in advance

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to do this. You will probably have to format the data into some form that the printer will understand. Obviously you will need to establish a connection to the printer via whatever connection it is using. The specific printer you are using will determine what the actual data should look like.

  • Print a pdf directly to a printer to avoid repeated ripping of the same image

    Hi,
I have created a 3.000 pages document from inDesign heaving its page the same color image as background and variable data. The document exported as pdf. Because of this method the file has very little size (about 3MB). The acrobat print engine take the image once and the resulted pdf does not using a copy in every page but share it (very cool).
The problem that I have is that when I print this pdf using the windows postscript drivers of my industrial printer (Xerox) then it takes very long time to ripp. I think that even if the pdf has only once the image the windows drivers does not understand this and send the image with every page.
I discussed this with someone and told me to print the pdf directly to the printer without the interference of printer's driver. As an example he mentioned that when we have a postscript file we do the same to print it (otherwise the postscript code will be printed) using a command line like lpr and put as an argument the IP of the printer (or using some tools for this like the free PrintFile but tghis is only for postscript files).
Could someone explain to me what he meant? And how is the syntax of the lpr?
    Thanks in advance

Do you mean that the information for the label is huge on a letter or A4 page and you want to shrink it to the size of the label, or do you have a small region that you want to print to the label? Your work flow is not coming through at all and it is hard to help as a result.
If you have a label size print on a large page, then crop the page to the label print. Then go to the print menu, select the label paper, set shrink to fit, and print. At least I think that is what you are looking for.

  • Print PDF file directly to store printer

    Hi Gurus,
Having not found a solution, we think we need help from you. We have searched forums and google but have not found adequate solutions.
We are a retailer having different stores. Our main office is using SAP. Each store has its printer and defined in our SAP system. We want to print PDF files directly to store printer using SAP . How should we do that ? We think there are 2 steps:
    1) Upload PDF files from network directory into SAP (We done it, no problem)
    2) Having now PDF files in internal tables, how should we proceed to print PDF files using store printers?
Please note that we do not want to use CL_GUI_PDFVIEWER since we do not want to display the PDF and having the obligation to choose the print option from dialog and also we do not want to call Adobe OLE object  to print
    Any answer would be appreciated
    Thank you very much

    Hi,
It is really late to give response this post. But still who ever refering to this post for the same issue this solution is useful for achieving same in background:
Even same can be used in smartforms, for getting spool request in PDF format as well which will decrease the size of file when printing in SAP printer.
    ct_tline is PDF output:

Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.

... WITHOUT SPOOL DYNPRO(skip print control screen)
With the parameters IMMEDIATELY, KEEP IN SPOOL, NEW LIST IDENTIFICATION and COVER TEXT, flag must be a literal or character field with the length 1. If flag is blank, the parameter is switched off, but any other character switches the parameter on. You can also omit any of the sub-options of PRINT ON. mode with SAP COVER PAGE can accept the values ' ', 'X' and 'D'. These values have the following meaning:
' ' : Do not output cover sheet
    'X' : Output cover sheet
'D' : Cover sheet output according to printer setting
armode with ARCHIVE MODE can accept the values '1', '2' and '3'. These values have the following meaning:
    '1' : Print only
    '2' : Archive only
    '3' : Print and archive
arparams with ARCHIVE PARAMETERS must have the same structure as ARC_PARAMS. This parameter should only be processed with the function module GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS.
    Effect
Output is to the SAP spool database with the specified parameters. If you omit one of the parameters, the system uses a default value. Before output to the spool, you normally see a screen where you can enter and/or modify the spool parameters. However, you can suppress this screen with the following statement:
... TO SAP-SPOOL WITHOUT SPOOL DYNPRO
You could use this option if all the spool parameters have already been set!
    reward points if hlpful.
    Note
When specifying the LINE-SIZE, you should not give any value > 132 because most printers cannot print wider lists.
    Addition 2
... SPOOL PARAMETERS params(structure with print
    parameters)
... ARCHIVE PARAMETERS arparams(Structure with archive
    parameters)
... WITHOUT SPOOL DYNPRO(skip print parameters
    screen)
    Effect
Output is to the SAP spool database with the specified parameters. The print parameters are passed by the field string params which must have the structure of PRI_PARAMS. The field string can be filled and modified with the function module GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS. The specification arparams with ARCHIVE PARAMETERS must have the structure of ARC_PARAMS. This parameter should only be processed with the function module GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS. Before output to the spool, you normally see a screen where you can enter and/or modify the spool parameters. However, you can suppress this screen with the following statement:
    ... WITHOUT SPOOL DYNPRO
    Example

  • Printing report to direct print 9i

    Hi,
I am able to direct print the reports on web using normal parameters...i.e. desname, destype and desformat.
When it prints successfully, it gives us a message in a separate browser window "The report has been successfully printed out"
And we don't want this message. Can anybody tell me to suppress this window and message ?
    Command:
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('/reports/rwservlet?
    report=REPORT.rdf&userid=scott/tiger@ora&
    P_DEPTNO='||:EMP.DEPTNO||'&
    desformat=htmlcss&destype=printer', '_blank');
    Thanks,
    Martonio.

    Martonio,
if you use RUN_REPORT_OBJECT() built-in in Forms to print Reports then you don't have this problem.
If you request the Report directly from a Web browser, not using Forms at all, please ask the same question on teh reports forum here on OTN.

  • Print report data across in excel

    hello
I have report data with xml file that typically has like 50 records of data. each record will have a dynamic number of data fields that need to go into a separate column/cell into excel output table.
i.e., need to print data across (tried using for-each @column ). this works for the first record but rest of the records wont work.
any ideas or examples on how we could have an xml structure and template table formula that i could use.
report need to look like this
    Table     col1     col2     col3 ... and so on
    data1     X     ' '     ' '
    data2     ' '     X     ' '
    ... and so on
    and so on
    thanks
    Edited by: 955878 on Sep 10, 2012 3:09 PM

i got this by doing to for-each
    for-each:hdrgroup
    then for-each@column
this way we had to get the xml 1 dataset per each row and all columns in this row.
    thanks

  • Print Report using ASCII command through printer selection available on windows

    Hi,
I'm using Labview 2009 to create a report using Report Generation Toolkit.
Creating a report is not the problem, the problem is I need to print the report manually by sending an ASCII Code.
I noticed that there are few example on send ASCII code command, but neither of them are related to printing.
The printer I use is Panasonic dot matrix printer KX-P1121E with USB port. (Fanfold type of paper)
I used "NI_report_lvclass: Print report.vi" from Report Generation before this to print my report, everything is okay and not receiving any error.
But I noticed that after finish printing, the paper will automatically feed out as if that VI (Print report.vi) is sending out "Form Feed" (FF) Command to the printer.
My application cannot use this method because I need to print a set of data in every minute. If the data only have 2 rows, then it will be a wasting a lot of paper if everytime finished printing paper feeding out. I want the printer to continue standby on the same paper after finished printing previous data. In other words, maybe just manually send "Line Feed or Carriage Return" to the printer.
    So I have a few things need to be clarified step by step;
    1. How can I send an ASCII Code to my printer? Do you have any example for this? link below is the character of ASCII Codes that can be use :http://webpages.charter.net/dperr/links/esc_p83.htm
    2. Can I send a report created by report generation to be printed using this ASCII command method?
    3. If my printer is setup by using windows (Meaning: Available on "Printer and Faxes" list), How can I configure the printer setup in sending the ASCII Code?
    Really appreciated your reply
    Thanks!

    Hi Zwired1,
Just to make sure I fully understand the situation - I am assuming since you say you are printing to two different printers that when you are using the Print Report.vi you are using the printer name string to specify which printer you would like to print on. And if the printer that you specify is not functioning it automatically prints on the other printer, is that correct?
From looking at the code in the Print Report.vi, it looks like if you specify a printer name in the input string, if there is a problem with that printer or if that printer is unavailable, the VI should not print anything, so please let me know if that is not the behavior you are seeing.
For your question about checking the health of printers, there is a VI in the report gen toolkit called Query Available Printers. You can find it if you open up the Print Report.vi and choose the Standard Report instance, the Query Available Printers.vi is on the block diagram of that VI. It will return the list of available printers and the default printer.
    I hope that helps,

    Hi All,
I need a quick help from Adobe print form gurus. Until now i dint get an issue on printing adobe interactive form from my portal. For eg., when i am giving a print for the first attempt, it was printing the form with wrong data in form fields and whereas when i tried to print it for the second time, then it is printing properly with right information.
    Please help.
    Regards,

    Hi Praveen,
Find out the data what is being printed for the first time, and check what is the flag that is making the change.  Hope that should resolve your issue.

No, Adobe stopped that happening many releases ago, for reasons that I don't understand but they will not change.

  • Exporting Crystal Report data to the Excel Print Headers

Hello everyone.  I am trying to do something with Excel headers that is a little more advanced than the usual.  I have multiple reports that are designed to export to Excel.  Normally I only export a report header.  However, I have a customer who wants a label to appear in each page header and footer in Excel. Here is the catch - they want the label to appear in the Excel print header and footer, not just on the main excel page.  The label contains an SBU marking, so there is a requirement that it gets printed on every page.
If you are not familiar with the print header, it is a separate section of an Excel document that appears when you print the excel document.  For this operation, I don't think I can use the built-in Crystal Export options.  I have tried to Export to Microsoft Excel and I can send the page header and footer to the Excel data sheet, but not to the print header/footer.
    Thanks for your help!
      - David

    Hi David,
I haven't worked with Excel's headers and footers but you are correct that Crystal can't export to those sections.  I have though had to make modifications to an Excel file after exporting and I believe you will need to do something similar to what I did.
After I exported the report to Excel, I had a program I wrote that opened the Excel file and modified it.  In my case I just had to encrypt it, zip it up and email it.  You may need to do something as well outside of Crystal and Excel.  Crystal doesn't export to an Excel template so automating it in Excel wouldn't work.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Printing ZPL code directly to a printer

In my abap program a have a string that contains ZPL code.  I'd like to send that ZPL code directly to the user's local printer.  Is there a way to do this in ABAP?  I looked at FM PRINT_TEXT but I'm not sure if that is the best way to do it.
If I were to do this outside of SAP. I would call up the windows command prompt and type:
