    If you are trying to print to the Adobe PDF printer and that fails, try using print-to-file. Then open the file in Distiller. If the result is the desired PDF, then check for AcroTray running as a background application. Sometimes it has to be restarted, but should be in your startup (you can check msconfig from the start>run menu to see if AcroTray is there).

  • How to create a file which i can attach to an email using the same print routine i use for printing

    Hi all,
    In my current code i print a document.
    What I would like to do is attach this file - possibly as a pdf - to an email using the same print routine ( with some additional code obviously)
    Did some research on the web and can't find a solution to this.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    You need to install a printer that 'prints' to a PDF file.  Then send your document to that printer and attach the file.  There are several available, free and commercial.

    There are other formats which may be suitable.

  • CS3 Print Routine (VBScript)

    I'm trying to write a fairly simple print routine that will ask a user for a folder and then print every ID file in that folder to a PDF using a printer preset. Here's what I have so far:
    Set myInDesign = CreateObject("InDesign.Application.CS3")
    sDirName = InputBox("Folder to convert?")
    Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Set fldr = fso.GetFolder(sDirName)
    Set fls = fldr.Files
    For each aFile in fls
    strFileName = CStr(aFile)
    Set myDoc = myInDesign.Open(strFileName)
    myInDesign.ActiveDocument.PrinterPreset = "small"
    myInDesign.ActiveDocument.PrintOut False
    myInDesign.ActiveDocument.Close
    Set myDoc = Nothing
    Next
    Set myInDesign = Nothing
    Set fso = Nothing
    I'm getting this error on the PrinterPreset line:
    #438 - Object doesn't support this property or method
    I'm sure I found this somewhere in my searching, but I guess it's wrong. Does anyone know what the actual syntax is?
    Thanks!

    Document - and myInDesign.ActiveDocument - don't have PrinterPreset property
    from VB6 ObjectBrowser:
    Sub PrintOut([PrintDialog], [Using])
    Member of InDesign.Document
    Prints the Document(s). / PrintDialog: Whether to invoke the print dialog as Boolean / Using: Printer preset to use as idPrinterPresetTypes enumerator or PrinterPreset
    so, you need to delete this line and in next line add second parameter - printer preset you want to use
    call myInDesign.ActiveDocument.PrintOut(False, myInDesign.PrinterPresets.Item("small")

  • Says hp printer Envy 4500 is offline but it is on

    how do i get the wireless printer to print when it says printer ofline buts its on and connected to network. Envy4500 series

    Quite simply, this problem is in the connectivity between Windows and HP communications software.
    When 'printer offline' message occurs turning the printer off and then on generates an interrupt which brings the printer online and printing occurs.  Printing will then work for a small time period and then same problem reoccurs, that is the connection is lost.  I've repeated this scenario until it's just part of my print routine.
    I've dealted with this for months and continuously there are these responses to to jump through all kinds of hoops and reinstall with no affect whatsoever on the problem.  I  cannot believe HP's developers are unable able to reproduce
    the failure and locate the problem.
    Whatever, just stop posting over and over again to reinstall.   It is, clear and simple, not a fix for most.  Turn the problem over to someone in HP level three support.
    FYI, I am on Windows 8.1 Update.  The problems dates back to Windows 8.0 for me.  However, I've seen posts for the problem on Windows7

  • I am unable to print to a Lexmark C782 printer

    I have been troubleshooting a print issue for 2 weeks. I have two iMac desktops. I am trying to print to Lexmark_C782 printers via ethernet. I have selected the printers through System Preferences>Printers and Scanners. When adding the printers I select the "+" sign, select the printer on the default tab. iMac finds the correct print driver (which I have downloaded and installed). I then select ADD and the printer is loaded into the print queue. I send a print job to the printer and a few things happen; 1, the print job disappears and never prints and the print queue shows nothing in the queue. 2, I will send a print job to the printer and the printer will display a 900 or 900.43  RIP software error or 3, on occasion it has printed (very rare). This same thing happens when using IPP and LPD. At this writing, I am unable to add printers using IPP, where as before I could.  IPP doesn't find the printers. Apple is unable to find the printer. I can open the terminal window and ping the printer. I can open Safari and brtowse to the webpage of the printer.
    There has not been any changes to the computer.
    Computer iMac
    O/S X version 10.9.2
    Processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory 8GB
    Serial Number  D2*******8J3
    Toubleshooting steps
    1. Deactivated Appletalk on printers. I have read it is no longer supported, Apple uses bonjour
    2. I have downloaded and installed the Mac OSX print driver from Lexmark but found that wasn't the latest.
    3. I have made sure the latest print driver is installed. Version 11.2. Found that on the Apple website
    4. I have innstalled the printer via IPP, LPD and bojour
    5. I have 18 C782 printers
    6. I have a network at my office
         16 workstations
         The workstation i am working on is connected into a switch that is connected into another switch in the closet
         All C782 printers are in one physical location with static IP addresses.
         They are all connected into a 24 port switch which is then connected to another switch in a closet
         Both switches are connected via different CAT 5 cables to the same switch in the closet.
    7. I am trying to print from Adobe programs.
    8. With the exact same setup I am able to print successfully from Windows 7 to all printers without any type of errors
    All of the printers are  printing images, creative fonts on greeting cards (Adobe In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc). Not sure if that matters but thought worth mentioning.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    <Personal Information Edited by Host>

    I talked to Adobe Support tonight and found this issue to be a known problem with some of the Adobe Cloud products when using older hardware, in this case the C782.
    So, we found a workaround. Unfortunately the work around isn’t efficient and adds more steps to their normal printing routine
    Open InDesign and create, modify delete the card
    Select FileàExport
    A window will appear. Pick the location you wish to save the file
    Once the File is saved another window will appear
    “EXPORT Adobe PDF”
    An Export to Adobe PDF window will appear. Accept all defaults. MAKE CERTAIN “VIEW PDF
    After EXPORTING” is CHECKED
    Select Export
    Once EXPORT is complete the file will open automatically in Adobe Acrobat
    Most likely the screen will be very large
    Select the + - sign at the top of the page to adjust the page size to view the image
    Select FileàPrint
    The Print window will appear
    Select the printer from the drop down
    # of COPIES is just below Printer
    Select OK
    I hope this helps anyone who is having similar issues
    Thanks

  • Bonjour won't print to my Airport Express from my Win XP pc

    I loaded Bonjour onto my Windows XP pc. The load went fine -- no error messages. I ran the 'add printer' routine, it found my HP 1210xi (which is connected to my Airport Express by USB) and showed a driver in the selection list to add. I added the printer. The setup looks fine. When I try to print a test page nothing happens, it finally errors out in Windows saying there was a problem printint the document. It also creates a mess that requires stopping/restarting Windows spooler to clean out the old print job.
    I had previously loaded Bonjour onto this PC and printed just fine.
    I am running XP SP2 with Windows Firewall. I tried with the firewall turned off and get the same problem. I can ping the Airport Express from the PC.
    I have other Mac & Windows PCs running on this network and this is the only PC with this problem, but I do remember having the problem with a Dell about a year ago.
    Sorry to be so long-winded, but I wanted to put as much data in this post as possible.

    Try plugging your computer directly to the HP printer via USB and installing printer. Then disconnect and try Bobjour again. It worked for me. Although you may need to reinstall Bonjour again.

  • I am not able to print pdf file from coursesmart website. i disabled flash plugin and only images are on the pages. When i preview, i only see blank page...help

    i disabled flash plugin.
    now i open site - http://www.coursesmart.com/9780495797494/2
    page contains images.When i click on print preview button, i cant see anything.... also i tried all pdf plugins and extensions, but none help to convert/print page in pdf. please help. how can i print whole page to pdf?

    Doesn't work in Google Chrome either.
    Looks that the page has a lot of protection measures (context menu is disabled) and DIVs that overlay each other, so it is possible that the print routine only sees an empty DIV and not the image or the real page.<br />
    That big image consists of two parts as you can see via Tools > Page Info > Media and the inspector.

  • Desperately need help with a networked printer and SMB sharing for windows

    Complete xServ newbie here. I'm a windows/novell admin, with limited experience in Unix and Linux.
    Against my advice, a client of mine that owns a small office of 20 people bought an XServG5 to act as a server for 20 mixed Windows PCs. File sharing services are working fine. I've created the users, set up groups and rights - that's all good.
    I cannot get an SMB shared printer to work from the windows machines. They run through the network printer install just fine, it shows up online, etc. However, when print jobs are submitted they DO show up in the printer queue on the server, sit there for a while, and then get moved to the completed box.
    They never print. There's not any indication that the job is even submitted to the printer. I can print to the printer just fine from the server itself, but the windows clients don't work, but they don't return an error message.
    Print services are running on the server, I've configured the printer name to be less than 12 characters for the share, and indeed it does pop right up during the "add network printer" routine.
    Ideas? I'm not even sure what questions I'm supposed to be asking, such is my ignorance of the OS. I do know that I followed the documentation to a T, and according to Apple this should work.
    Thanks in advance for the help. I'm extremely frustrated.

    We have the same problem. Our printer worked for about 2 years but failed similar to yours after a system update.
    Can you go into the Windows service, Logs, Printer Service. Copy and paste the log here. What I am looking for is a line like lpr: CANNOTCONNECTCLIENT or something similar to this.
    What I expect is that you have a problem where the cups defined printer is not usable. We can't get our problem fixed either - but am just curious if you have the same thing. We reloaded our server, applied all of the update and still cannot get it to work.
    Again, I think it stems from the update.

  • Can you print in notebook view in MS Office Word 2004 (for mac)?

    I'd like to use the notebook view in Word 2004 (Mac version) to take notes in class, and I would also like to print them in that view (notebook pages style). It doesn't do it automatically, I was hoping there was a way of having it print the notebook lines; and I can't seem to find any print options to do so.

    Desidarius:
    I am confirming the following for you. I have Word 2008.
    Word 2008 offers the Notebook Layout view (We know this).
    Notebook Layout View prints through Word's normal printing routines, which means that *it doesn't include such UI elements as notebook rings, rulers, and hole-punches.*
    However, bullets, checkboxes, and note flags are considered in-document content so these do print.

  • Print PDF file using Acrobat SDK - Warning message

    Hello,
    We are trying to create automatic program in c# that will print all pdf files located in a specific folder, using Adobe Acrobat 9.0 SDK.
    Whenever the application tries to print file, we receive a warning message ("WARNING! A script has requested to print an Acrobat file. This could print an entire document. Do you want to proceed printing?").
    If we press yes, the file is printed, but next time we'll run the application, this message will appear again.
    Since this application supposed to run automatically (with no interaction with the end users), we want to prevent this warning message from appearing.
    How can we eliminate this warning message?
    Is there any other way to print PDF files using Adobe Acrobat from another application?
    Thanks,
    Lilach.

    joeln3:  I believe the original post refers to a client application, not a web page.  Why use JavaScript from within a client application?  I understood their use case to involve a client app referencing the PDF Library, loading various PDF files, and using one (or more) of the PDF Library's Print methods to invoke Acrobat's internal print routines.

  • HP D1520 Series printer test page hangs on connected windows XP or win 7 PC

    I am new to the Mac world but have been using iPad and PC for a some time. I have installed a HP D1520 Series printer to my Win 7 laptop. I then connected my recently acquired 2008 MacBook pro to the recognized printer with my fresh install of Mt lion. When I send a test page it goes through its pre print routine but does not complete print job. If i connect the printer directly to Mac it works fine. My specific questions are as follows.
    1. Is this likely a driver issue with Mt Lion?
    2. Can I work around this issue with a Airport Express or Extreme or will I likely in counter same driver issues?
    3. If I use wireless express or airport option does it matter if it's a/b/g/ or n?
    Bottom line I want to be able to access my printer with of iPad, Mac, or Win 7 laptop.

    Yes USB only printer
    Device holding it? It is pluged in to my win 7 Laptop and Mac is connected through a Network Share to that printer so connection is not the propblem. I also set up file shares with no problems. Since my printer is not hooked up with a Mac or Airport device Bonjour does not reconize my printer. My print job hangs hangs in the middle of request making me think it is a driver issue that has not been resolved.
    By wireless protocol I guess you mean it does not matter if router is a/b/g or n
    Other than checking for software updates, is there another way to update a driver like on a win 7 machine.
    thanks for your help.....

  • Header and footer on print?

    How do I put header and footer in my print method? Can anyone plz help me with this, am stuck.... My method looks like this:
    public int print(Graphics g, PageFormat pf, int pageIndex) throws PrinterException
         Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D)g;
    g2.setColor(Color.black);
    Dimension d = scroll.getSize();
    double panelWidth = d.width;
    double panelHeight = d.height;
    double pageHeight = pf.getImageableHeight();
    double pageWidth = pf.getImageableWidth();
    double scale = pageWidth/panelWidth;
    int totalNumPages = (int)Math.ceil(scale * panelHeight / pageHeight);
    if(pageIndex >= totalNumPages)
         return Printable.NO_SUCH_PAGE;
    g2.translate(pf.getImageableX(), pf.getImageableY());
    g2.translate(0f, -pageIndex*pageHeight);
    g2.scale(scale, scale);
    scroll.paint(g2);
    return Printable.PAGE_EXISTS;
    }

    You have two options:
    1) Insert header and footer objects (which can be as simple as a panel with a label in it) - into your pages prior to printing.
    2) Insert header/footers into the pageables passed to your print routine.
    I used method one - worked nicely.

  • Printing PDF form with information as PDF document

    I've recently filled out a PDF form application with various information. I went to save this as a PDF file in Adobe Reader for my records but this is not supported. I was only able to print out a hard copy. Is there any other program or routine that supports printing a filled-out PDF form to a PDF file?
    In a Windows environment there were a number of 3rd party programs that could do this. For some reason this option is blocked under OS X native PDF print routine. Thank you for any insights.

    Click "print", and in the confirmation dialogue, select "Print as PDF". This will save what would have been printed as hard-copy as a PDF file.

  • Printing a PDF via Acrobat Javascript

    Hi -
    I have a need to print a PDF programmatically, via Javascript.  The PDF is embedded in a Web page.  I use postMessage to communicate with the PDF.
    I've created a simple HTML page with an embedded PDF, and a Javascript link to call my "Print" function. Here's a code snippet:
    <body>
             <a href="javascript:doPrint();">Print</a>
             <object id="PDFObj" data="testPDF.pdf" type="application/pdf" width="400" height="400" />
    </body>
    In the HTML document's HEAD, I've added the following Javascript which posts the message to the PDF:
    <script language="JavaScript">
            function doPrint() {
                pdfObject = document.getElementById("PDFObj");
                alert("Hello from Javascript...");
                pdfObject.postMessage(["Print", "Print"]);
    </script>
    Finally, I've added an Acrobat Javascript function in the PDF document to listen for the postMessage event:
    function myOnMessage(aMessage)
        app.alert("Hello from the PDF");
           // print routines here
    var msgHandlerObject = new Object();
    msgHandlerObject.onMessage = myOnMessage;
    msgHandlerObject.onError = myOnError;
    msgHandlerObject.onDisclose = myOnDisclose;
    function myOnDisclose(cURL,cDocumentURL)
    return true;
    function myOnError(error, aMessage)
    app.alert(error);
    this.hostContainer.messageHandler = msgHandlerObject;
    Here's my problem: when I test this code and click the HREF Javascript link, I see "Hello from Javascript..." and "Hello from the PDF," so I know the postMessage event is working.  However, I've tried every print command I know in the myOnMessage function, and nothing seems to work:
    app.execMenuItem("Print"); // doesn't seem to work
    this.print(); // doesn't seem to work, even when I pass in all the params, etc
    I've also tried getting print params and passing those in, nothing seems to work.  Am I missing something?  Environement is Acrobat 9 Pro, browser's tested include Chrome 2.0, IE6.  I've attached two files, the HTML bit and the PDF I'm trying to print.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

    You have to be careful when using the ActiveX control to communicate with system functions like printing.  Because it can be embedded in anything that supports ActiveX, some functionality is limited from being called from JavaScript as it may interfere with the host application.
    Check out the IAC API Reference (also included with the SDK) and the methods under AxAcroPDFLib.AxAcroPDF.  There are some print functions in there (like PrintAll) that you can call on the ActiveX control directly, as in from your doPrint() method in your HTML page without using the hostContainer.  You would basically just call:
    pdfObject = document.getElementById("PDFObj");
    pdfObject.PrintAll();
    These methods were designed specifically to work with the ActiveX control when embedded in a host application, and can be used to print a PDF embedded in a web page.
