Print smaller document center justified

Hi,
I've to print a small InCopy CS4 document (14 x 21 cm) on a larger format printer (21 x 29 cm).
The  goal is to get the print center justified. As there is no option for  that, I wonder if there is a scripting (javascript) solution available?
Regards
Ingo

I don't have InCopy at hand so can't test it. Try this:
app.activeDocument.printPreferences.pagePosition = PagePositions.CENTERED;
You can also center it horizontally or vertically:
PagePositions.CENTER_HORIZONTALLY
PagePositions.CENTER_VERTICALLY

  • Problems printing small documents

    Hi everyone,
I am a digital printer and I am running into an odd problem printing document that are smaller than 8.5 by 11. Typically I don't print from Acrobat. I usually just import directly into Command work station and then print from Fiery. However every so often I need to "print as image" to make sure the document prints as it should. I create a custom page size and make sure to choose the correct printer to format for. When I view it in my rip software the document reads as 8.5 by 11. So for example I can send business cards over at 2.25 by 3.75 and use the custom page size that matches but it still comes over as business card placed on a 8.5 by a 11 page. Does any one know how to remedy this? I am using Acrobat XI on a Mac running OS 10.9.3. I use Command Workstation 5.5 printing using Fiery rip software on a Xerox 700 digital press.

    Yes, that shoild be fine.
At this point I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any UPS so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

  • Can't print small documents

I have three printers a Color LazerJet CM2320 MFP Series PCL6, a DeskJet 9800 and a OfficeJet 7400.  I am trying to print RSVP cards for my daughter's wedding and they are getting stuck in all three printers.  The cards are 3.1/2 X 4.7/8 inches.  Is there anything I can do with these printers or is there another printer that I could purchase than will print light cardstock that size?

The Deskjet 9800 should handle those through the front manual feed slot.

  • Apple AirPort Express - HP LaserJet M1120 won't print entire document

    Hi,
My first post.  I've recently purchased Airport Express and installed all necessary programmes (incl. Airport Base Station Agent and Bonjour print service) on my Win 7 Ultimate x64.
The device is set up as "Join a existing network".
Airplay works without any issues, but printing does not.
I've also installed the driver for HP LaserJet M1120 printer.
When I send something to print (regardless of the file), it won't print the entire document. Usually, it prints smaller documents (up to 10 pages) normally, but when it comes to larger documets it prints only half of the document.
I send 30 pages document to print and it prints only 15 pages. Then I need to re-send print command and again, it prints only half - 7 or 8. Printer just stops.
Sometimes i get "Error-printing", but not always.
This issue happens on all 4 PCs that I have at home all running Win 7 Ultimate x64 or Win Vista Home Premium x32.
    Any ideas?
HP Print Diagnostic Utility did not find any issues also. Says everything is OK.

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the  AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at thisiFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link. If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also you can try this Apple Tech Support article to see if it will help: Printer troubleshooting for AirPort Base Stations and Time Capsule
Finally, check out this IBM support article to see if your printer is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work.

  • What does Printer Document Center Code 0x6101bed mean. My printer carriage is terribly noisy.

My HP 7500 Wide Format Printer has a very noisy printer cartridge carriage.
The display screen comes up with Printer Document Center Code 0X6101BED.
Does anyone know what this code means, where to find and explanation and
what is best to fix it. Or is it fixable.
    Respectfully looking for answers...

  • Printing small column in center of page

Both my wife and I have started having printing problems when printing to our Lexmark Optra E312 laser printer. Until recently, everything was fine. Then my wife began having problems. All the pages she tried to print came out as a thin column of print down the center of the page (about 1/3 of the page). I could print fine, but then a day or so later, I started to get the same problem.
She was using Word. I was using AppleWorks. We print over an Airport Express, but I had the same problem when I switched the USB cable directly to my computer.
I can save the file as a PDF and then print that with Adobe Reader. Then it prints fine. So I assume the problem isn't with the printer but is with our OS X 10.4.7.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Any suggestions on what we might do to correct the problem?

    Hello Kendall,
I haven't seen this in Word (don't have AppleWorks) so I can't offer a quick fix. So thought I'd ask some questions (sorry if some are obvious) to see if we can get a workaround.
Does the 'Quick Preview' in Word (File > Print) look okay or reduced?
If it looks okay, if you then click Preview in the print dialog, does it still look 1:1 or reduced when you view it in the Preview application?
In Word, in Page Setup, is the 'Format for' set to Any Printer or your Lexmark? Also, is the 'Paper Size' and 'Scaling' in Word set correctly?
Is the 'Default Paper Size' in System Preferences > Print & Fax set correctly?
If all the above is okay (just wanted to double check first) then maybe the preferences for the apps has a problem. Did the problem occur after the 4.7 update (not surprised if it did)? Try opening Disk Utility and running Repair Permissions. It's amazing how many problems this resolves.
If that doesn't help, go to your home folder > Library > Preferences > Microsoft (for Word) and delete the com.microsoft.Word.prefs.plist. Then restart the Mac and open Word and print something.
If this still doesn't help then I'd have to investigate this further..

    Paul

  • Left, Right or center justified. Need some help

    Hi,
I have to do an assignment in which i am asked to read a file containing text of strings. I have to set some properties for my implementation class so that i will get the output in desired format i.e
    left, right or center justified.
Can anybody tell me the documents or the classes to go through. i am new to java. Please reply me.
    Thanks
    Rita

ya, i know how to read the file and probably print them to the console Good!
but i dont know how to print the output in right- justified manner.
The output is by default left-justified, but i dont know how to do right-justified.Okay, you need to do some padding (justification). Check out the stuff in StringBuffer (and StringBuilder, in 1.5) and String. Questions about padding/justification come up on the forum all the time (did you try searching?). Basically, you have to decide the full length you want (e.g., 100 characters), and then prepend/append the proper number of spaces to the original String.

  • Print  issue with 6.2.9, not able to print a document(Not greyscale)

I am now unable to print a document unless I change the text colour and print from the preview screen.( can print from other apps using my Canon Pixma 4000)
i.e. I cannot print a black text document. It runs through the printer as if it is printing but the page comes out blank.
If I change the colour of the text then it prints
Anyone know how to fix this please.
    Thanks
    Shirley

    Hi Shirley,
I think you've (probably accidently) changed a printer setting. Canon Pixmas offer you the choice of printing with only the black cartridge or only the colour, which allows you to operate the printer even when one cartridge runs out of ink.
To get to the setting, open the Print Center, select your printer from the list, then click the tools icon (labelled Configure or Utility, depending on the Print Center version).
This will open Canon's Printer Utility application. Again, select your printer in the list, then click Maintenance.
In the Maintenance window, use the popup menu at the top to select Ink Cartridge Settings.
In the Settings window, select Both black and color using the popup menu.
Close the window and quit the Printer Utility and Print Center.

  • Can't print large documents.

For years, we've been printing large documents to our plotter without issue.  Suddenly last week, nothing large will print.
I've seen a few different error messages, and have tried different computers, and different versions of Illustrator, but nothing large will print.
When trying to print, I currently get the following:
I've also seen an error suggesting not enough memory is available, which is bogus.  And I think another error that was more vague, something to the effect of "can't print"
I've setup a clean install of illustrator on a clean windows install, same issue.
I setup an alternate print server with our rip software, same software we've been using for years.  Same error on the alternate server.
Nothing changed, and it's effecting everything here, and new installs.  I don't know what happened, but this is getting critical, we need the ability to print.

    EFI eXpress v. 4.1
This all worked fine until a week ago, so I don't think there should be a hardware software compatibility issue.  The software and hardware were all working fine, and then we got blindsided by this stubborn error that came out of nowhere, won't go away, and has no error or log that gives us any useful information.
It isn't a font issue.  I've created a basic test document that just consists of the word test.  Using this same font, I've had success printing documents that are 37"x79", 39"x75".  But, when I print 39"x79", it fails.  i've not zeroed in on the size that seems to be the cutoff, but I knew that a 37x75 worked, and 40x80 didn't, and 39x79 didn't either.  So, playing around with the numbers I found the above that did work.
Also, using the general epson driver that you can get on epson's site, any print job can be sent without issue.  It's just that anything beyond 90 inches gets cut off.
I suppose this suggests the problem lies with EFI.  But, a clean install of EFI didn't resolve the issue.  What it comes down to for me is, the error is generated from Adobe.  So, at the least, I'd like an explanation from Adobe as to what the error is, since their software is generating it, and giving me no reason why it failed.  Plus, there's no way I can justify to management the cost of bringing in a 3rd party support for the EFI software, unless I have a better reason why the EFI software worked last week, but not this week, so I really need better data out of Adobe as to why it fails.
I currently have a paid case open with Adobe, but they seem to be having difficulty as well, so far it's been a lot of time on hold, and a little bit of "try this, try that, try this", which is getting nowhere.  I need something more methodical to happen, and some actual following of data, or checking of logs, to get some detailed information, hopefully the case will get escalated to someone with a bit more in depth knowledge on these things.
I will keep posting the details here as they emerge, because there's nothing I hate more than a forum thread with a problem I'm experiencing, that doesn't end with an answer.  I think forums should do a better job of either posting a resolution, or purging the cases that don't resolve, to get rid of the useless junk that clogs the internet and wastes people's time searching for answers.

  • Why does my Acrobat Pro 9 PDF print driver either lock up or become confused as to where it should store a file when printing a document from within the Firefox browser?

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 for creating .pdf files on a Windows XP SP3 platform. Firefox 6.0.2 is my browser of choice. This question only applies to the .pdf printing process. All other printer drivers work fine with this version of Firefox.
In attempt to save paper, I choose to print most documents in an electronic .pdf format using the PDF print driver and save them to my USB drive. Before upgrading my Firefox version to 6.0.2 this process seemed to work fine but after upgrading the .pdf print process seems to be experiencing problems. This particular printing process will cause Firefox to lock up when the distiller tries to print the file to what I believe is a temporary folder under the Adobe folder. When it does this I am sometimes able to force it to complete the process but frequently it will only produce a log not a .pdf file. On other occasions the distiller will just lock up mid print without producing any kind of error message. In both cases I will frequently have to use Windows Task Manager to break out of the process which then shuts down the Firefox browser. I don't seem to have any problems when I use Internet Explorer to perform the same function. As far as I am aware I am running the most current drivers as Adobe automatically pushes down updates to me as they become available. Any ideas how I can overcome this issue or is it inherent to the new version of Firefox?

The PDF file itself does not control the "print as image" preference, which should always be turned OFF unless there's a specific need to rasterize the entire page, and is turned off by default in all Acrobat and Adobe Reader installations.
What's the filetype for the ultralight font and what export setting* are you using in ID? If you're exporting to earlier than PDF1.7, OpenType fonts will be converted and may experience some small changes in shape if their hint definitions aren't done right.
*As a side note, bear in mind that InDesign does not use any part of Acrobat when exporting PDFs, so questions specific to that stage in the process should be posted to the InDesign forums.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro & Document Center

Can anyone help with configuring Adobe Acrobate 9 Pro with Document Center?  I have generated a form in LiveCycle and would like to set an expiry date on this fill-in form.
Any help with instruction on how to set this up would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards

    Thanks MichaelKazlow,
I have done exactly you told me but i did not have any success. I do not have any problem with Acrobat 8 but i have in Acrobat 9. The only difference I see with your example it is I have a HP Color Laset Jet instead a Dell printer.
I tried the preflighting options as well.. but i did not have any success either..
I can only print in gray, if i convert colors to gray  but in this way my pdf document is converted to gray forever.
    Thanks,
    Eva

  • When I print a document with Arabic script in In Design the characters appear in an inverted form, in the opposite direction, while the printer doesn't do this with other software such as Word

When I print a document with Arabic script in In Design the characters appear in an inverted form, in the opposite direction, while the printer doesn't do this with other software such as Word

(The small field at the top of questions is to type just a title; the large field is to type your full question in, along with anything else that may help us help you.)
When you say "print", do you mean the text is correct in your InDesign file? If you export the document to a PDF, is it still correct? Final test: if you print the PDF to your printer (making sure you use the same driver and setting), is it wrong? Then it's your printer driver, trying to be smart when it should not. Locate a Settings dialog where you can switch off options such as this one. Were I a betting person, I'd tell you to look for something called "Auto-correct mirrored documents".

  • How do I print text document (spreadsheet) in 11 x 17 format with landscape orientation?

Print preview shows only in portrait orientation when I get an image at all, then when I hit "print" icon, get instant message that says "out of memory".  Also cannot seem to get printer to recognize 11 x 17 size -- keeps saying that printer settings & paper size do not match.

Don't want to come across as ungrateful, but I'm NOT impressed with how these postings are being handled.  Guess I should expect that with HP -- ever since their calculators came out with RPN, the culture of HP has been different from most others.
To repeat myself, my printer is HP B8550 Photosmart, capable of wide format printing -- the reason I purchased this one after reading reviews by others  of all its features.  My OS is Windows XP Home Edition.  My problem is with trying to print out a spreadsheet format of a large genealogical database that I have created, using Windows Works.  When I open the file, create the desired printer settings, and perform the page set-up tasks, all I get when I hit "print preview" is an error message that says "out of memory", which prevents any further action.  When I clear that from the screen & try to see a print preview, I get a truncated image of the spreadsheet in PORTRAIT orientation & not the LANDSCAPE orientation that I have set the document printing for.
While awaiting a useful response from yesterday's forum (& not getting one), I tried a different Word document while using the same 11 x 17 sheet size setting for the printer, & that document was processed without a hiccup.  I'm now more inclined to believe that there is something wrong with my Window Works software & NOT the printer software that just doesn't want to deal with 11 x 17 spreadsheets in queue or out on the stack (or heap -- wherever the machine stages such data for processing), but I just don't know.  Made a separate file using just one page of the database, thinking that maybe the 4.5 MB file size was the problem, but that had absolutely no effect on the situation -- it won't print even that small file as structured.  To display all the data, I need to use landscape orientation.  Puzzled why it won't show in that orientation even within print preview.
ANY advice on how to get this project to work properly is appreciated -- it represents about 8 years' worth of work in creating it & I'm ready to make a hard copy to use while doing on-site work at various archives holding such records.

  • Query regarding Printing multiple documents

    Hi,
We would like to know how we can print multiple documents at once not one by one in SAP.
Presently we are using FB03 to print the GL document one by one.
    Thanks
    Pooja Gupta
    SAP FICO Consultant

    HI,
We also encountered with the same problem and now we are using HP solution for it.
There are four major problems with the SAP print spool process:
    1. Limited bidirectional communication between the SAP environment and the underlying operating
system (UNIX, Linux, and related systems). After the file transfer to the host, the only information
that passes between the two environments is whether the file still remains in the print queue (if the
SAP environment is configured to enable polling).
If the file is no longer present in the host’s print queue, the SAP environment assumes that the file
has printed. If the file disappeared for any other reason, such as a reboot of the operating system
or if the printer is turned off, the assumption is not correct. SAP proceeds to process the next
output request and the file simply disappears, leaving no trace of the failure.
Most often, SAP sets the status flag to ‘complete’ after transferring the request to the host spool
system. This action is a false positive because it actually indicates the handoff is complete, but not
that the job is printed. It aggravates users and increases calls to the helpdesk.
    2. The lpr command passes only very specific instructions to the host spooler. The host only attempts
to deliver the file to the specified printer; it does not wait for the printer to confirm that the last
pages printed. It does not perform transformations, repackage the data, or redirect the file to
another printer. Nor does the host track the file and keep a record of what happens. The lpr
command (in some of the UNIX-related distributions) does allow an option to send an e-mail at
completion of a print job, but this option can quickly clog up the e-mail system and is rarely used.
    3. Users have to make all adjustments to data within SAP before initiating the print request using the
capabilities already programmed into the SAP environment. This limitation includes advanced
print features such as staple, duplex, and resize, although administrators can enable the SAP
spool work process to handle these types of functionality by creating a new print driver. Further
extensions require additional programming within the environment.
    4. A relatively inflexible and unfriendly input process can cost money and slow business processes.
For example, reports often need to go to people in different offices or at different sites. Users must
create multiple output requests in order to send the documents to multiple destinations, or users
must send the report to a print center where someone (extra headcount) collects the multiple
copies and mails them to the recipients (extra mailing costs and extra time). Sending reports by
fax or e-mail require a different set of steps, which further burdens the user.

  • How do I get Pages to quit printing small boxes in my text?

When setting up a small, 2 page flyer, I like change numbered sentences to a dark red, make them bold, then make them superscript.  All of this is built into my Pages '09 templates and makes things easier to read for younger folks.
I created a new document from one of these templates today and it looked perfect on the screen but when I printed the document, between the bold, dark red superscript number and the first letter of the sentance, where I had left a space, I now have (only on the printed copy) a small box.  I don't know why it shows up only when printed, but I'm hoping someone can help me get Pages to stop printing those boxes.
Thanks for any and all help!
    Ron

You may also add OpenOffice spell checkers, there is a long list of languages, including Norwegian. These may be used with other apps too. Downloaded OO dics have the extension .oxt, manually change it to .zip, confirm when asked that you really wish to do this. Open the resulted folder and take from there .dic and .aff files, and move them to /Library/spelling. You may thus have as many spell checking dics as you wish. They may be selected in all the apps based on the Cocoa engine, including Pages.
In the attached screenshot, in the lower part you may see these dics.
P.S. I am not very familiar with Norwegian, but it seems the article does not specify how to download and install OO dics.
