PRINTER TRAY CONTROL/SELECTION WITH SAPSCRIPT USING ZTROYMIC DEVICE TYPE

We are printing checks using SAPscript in which we specify TRY02 for the overflow/invoice detail pages of a check and TRY03 for the check itself, this is in order to use check stock only for actual checks and plain paper for the invoice detail pages. As indicated above the device type to which we are printing is ZTROYMIC. The device type was downloaded from note 94233, and is printing the MICR characters successfully however there was no Control Character Sequence provided for TRY03 in SPAD print controls. The tray selection is not working correctly, I was given the following escape sequence, escape character & l 5 H, for TRY03 by TROY but not sure how to implement this in SPAD. Should we pose this question directly to SAP? Is tray selection supported for this device type? If not how can we direct pages to correct tray otherwise?

The requirement is for check printing. Here is the requirement
If printing a check, use the check stock tray. Else if printing the remittance advice, use the plain paper tray.

You do indeed need magnetic ink.
When we spoke to the niche vendors about controlling ink cartridges they told us they recommend customers use mag ink for the whole document. Mag ink is now not that much more expensive that regular ink. We do not currently generate PCL or PS natively to control ink cartridges, so we have followed suit and recommend you print the whole doc in mag ink.

Problem with Gui_download using ASC File type - japanese characters

Hi,
During upgrade,while downloading data for japanese characters using GUI_DOWNLOAD Function module with file type as 'ASC', the space between 2 fields data getting much wider compared to 4.6C Version ws_download Function module's data.
Example: the gap between first field data and second field data in ECC 6.0 is 6 characters length,but in 4.6C it is 2 characters length.
Is there any possibility to get the results similar to 4.6c version.Please give your valueable suggestions.

Please find the detailed information for your questions.
1.Internal table content before download:During Debugging,it was observed that internal table content was same in both versions.For testing,i used only brand new data(Transaction entry).
2.Download with code Page conversion:Yes,codepage parameter 4103 was explicitly passed into GUI_DOWNLOAD Function module.Also the front end code page which is used by system is 4110 . No errors occured.
3.System is an Unicode system only.
4.Actually this 6 character does not refer the byte value,only the gap between 2 fields data is getting referred in ECC 6.0.Please find the below example.
Example - File data after Download:
ECC 6.0: Field1            Field2      (gap - 6 characters space between 2 fields data) Using GUI_Download

Comparision of Advanced compression with Compression using Network Device

Has anyone compared the compression ratio that Oracle's advance compression provides with a WAN optimization solution from CISCO or BIGIP )f5) - I will appreciate if you could share your results.

I have not. That said Oracle compression and WAN optimization both use on data patterns for their compression. These algorithms are mature at this point and
I don't believe either has an advantage.
The rumor is Oracle is going to do more with Hardware Compression in the near future as the bottleneck appears to be brown round.

I have a Japanese Text (entered in Unicode at So10) and I want to print it from my SmartForms application using SWIN device type.
I thought SWIN converted all the components into graphics before sending to printer. To my surprise, the Japanese text printed out as "########".
I even tried duplicate the SWIN output device to another output device and changed the character set to 4103 UTF-16LE Unicode / ISO/IEC 10646 but then the print process hang.
Anyone knows how to overcome the problem so that I can print Japanese with SWin output device?

Printer tray selection VS2010

We have the following questions regarding windows printer default tray determining tray to print from:
 
1. When we set m_reportClass.PrintOptions.PaperSource = CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSource.FormSource, it defaults back to Auto (we can see that when we debug, it simply ignores the command) - why is that, and which option should we use to get the printer to use PrinterDefaultTray?
 
2. Default Printer impacts rpt. file even though "No Printer" is checked in the Page Setup dialog - so the default printer set on the developer PC opening the Page Setup of a .rpt file (not making a change, just opening) will change the file. Why is that and what change is made?
 
3. We have made a default 'dummy' printer on the developer pc which is used when opening the .rpt file. If a similar printer with the same name does not exist on the PC printing the report, we cannot control the tray that is prints from.
 
Is there a viewer that can show what has been changed inside an .rpt file to better understand what is happening to the file when it is opened in VS2010?
 
We are experiencing an issue with Crystal Reports VS2010 when trying to print reports to a specific tray. We have recently upgraded from .net 1.1 to .net 4.0 and in relation to this we also upgraded the CR version.
 
In the previous version we were able to setup windows printers with a specific default tray and when printing to this windows printer, the default tray of this windows printer was used. We have a range of printers being used in a client windows forms application, so we need to be able to continue letting the windows printer definition determine which tray to use. Preferable we would like to set PaperSource to UsePrinterDefaultTray, but that option does not seem to exist (or we have not found it yet). We have found another solution, but would like to understand why it works so we know that it is a viable solution.
 
The application is based on creating a report using the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportClass. The example below has been shortened for readability:

The printer has the 'No Printer' set in the Page Setup dialog as we have different printers with different number of trays, so we need to be able to specify the printer at runtime (according to the VS2010 CR documentation, there should be two dialogs - Print Setup and Page Setup, but in VS2010, we can only find the Page Setup, and it includes some of the options from the old Print Setup dialog).
 
Developer A, has two printers: printer 'Generic Text' set to default and printer 'InvoicePrinter' (the one to print from as read from the paramter in the above code). The 'Generic Text' is a generic text printer with no trays and the 'InvoicePrinter' is an OKI printer with two trays. 
Developer B, has printer 'InvoicePrinter' set as default. 
Developer C, has two printers: printer 'SalesList' set to default and printer 'InvoicePrinter' 
Developer A sets up printer 'InvoicePrinter' to print in tray 1 (and 'Generic Text' is default printer). Then opens the .rpt file and compiles. If a print is made on the developer PC, it prints to the correct tray. We can change 'InvoicePrinter' to tray 2 and again it prints correctly. However, if the same .dll is deployed on Developer B's PC, and a print is made, it always uses the same tray even though the windows printer is changed (it actually uses the 'InvoicePrinter', but it ignores the tray it is configured to use). The same is the case for Developer C's PC.
 
We have tried to set m_reportClass.PrintOptions.PaperSource = CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSource.FormSource and m_reportClass.PrintOptions.PaperSource = CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSource.Auto, but it has no impact.
 
If Developer B adds a printer called 'Generic Text' (even though it is not to be used) AND sets this printer to be the default printer, then it works exactly as on Developer A's PC - meaning that the windows printer tray definition of 'InvoicePrinter' is used correctly.
 
Our solution rigth now is to install a 'dummy' printer on all developer PCs and on all client PCs. This printer must be set as default printer on developer PCs so when the Page Setup of any .rpt file is opened (yes, just opening it changes the file), the new file generated will be based on the 'Generic Text' printer. We will then change the default printer on client PCs just before printing to the 'Generic Text' printer and set it back to their 'normal' default afterwards.
 
In my dev team we all agree that this is not the optimal solutions, so any suggestions will be well received.

Use the InProc RAS SDK, not CR SDK. More functional, same licensing.

When I log into hotmail, I cannot select part of an e-mail and print just the selection. This will work with other borowsers.

I can print an entire e-mail when I log into Hotmail using Firefox, but if I select part of the e-mail and tell the printer to print the selected part, all I get is a blank page coming from the printer.
I can print the selected text if I use Internet Exlporer as a browser to log into Hotmail.

My dad told me he had this 'no selection' problem when he wanted to print out a selection in Hotmail, so I had a hunt around, but didn't find a definitive solution.
So, I have done some playing around, and have come up with this solution which works if you want to print out a selection in Hotmail (using firefox), but it is now greyed out.
It seems to be connected with the way that Hotmail handles frames.

1/ On the email you want to print click the small Printer icon in the hotmail menu.
There is no need to highlight a selection at this stage because the email is in a frame, so it will do no good anyway.
2/ A new page will open up and the printer dialog box will open up.
Close the printer dialog box.
3/ Highlight the text selection that you want to print on that page.
4/ Press Ctrl-P on the keyboard.
5/ The printer dialog box will now pop up again and you will be able to choose 'Selection'
Your selection will now print.

A3 Printing using Ricoh Device casues column problems

Hi SAP Gurus
Trying to setup a printer to use A3 printing and gone through the usual SPAD settings with full admin for device types, formats, print controls etc
I have imported the Ricoh driver as this is on the SAP partner program
Also chose ABAP list format. X_65_255. For printing on A3
It prints on A3 but within the columns there are spacings between chars like..

Problem due to not using the correct driver, SAP provide a different one than that of Ricoh, Used the SAP one as per SAP Note 1370036

Device type to be used for Zebra 220XiIII Printer

Hello All,
We are printing labels from SAP to the printer Zebra 220XiIII Printer using Adobe Print forms technology. When configuring the printer, we used the device type as PDF1. The print was fine in terms of data display and positioning of the text and barcodes but the issue is that it takes 30secs. to print each label. This was not acceptable as it is creating delays in Shipment.
To address the issue we changed the device type to LZEB3. The print was fast i.e., in 20 seconds the printer was able to print 5 labels but the font on the label is increased automatically because of which the data on the label is truncated.
Does any one have any ideas on what is the device type to be used and is there any specific font to be used?
Please note that we desinged the forms using ADOBE FORMS TECHNOLOGY. There are many notes in Service market place which are specific to Smart forms. Please come up with your ideas.

Hi Florian,
Thank you for your response. We were able to fix the issue by changing the Device type to LZEB2.
For some reason YZB200, YZB300 and other device types which we found in the device type wizard did not work in our case. We did not investigate the reason as LZEB2 worked and we have time crunch

Digital signatures with Sapscript

Hello experts.
Had anyone worked with Sapscript using digital signatures?
Is this possible? I believe the Sapscript technology is old to support digital signatures.
The only solution in Sapscript would be to upload the signature images, wouldn't it?

Hi,
Is the digital signature in the form of a bmp or tiff ? If yes, then you can have a BDC of SE78(Graphics Management ), which will upload the graphics to the SAP system & then you can use it in your smart form or sap script dynamically.
