Printing checks with CheckMagic

I use Quickbooks and a program called CheckMagic to print my own checks on blank check stock.  I have been doing it for years with any number of operating systems and HP laserject printers.   Now I have a Vista operating system and a new HP P1006 printer (which is going back because it's so cheap and flimsy).  My problem with it, besides it's so junky, is that when I try to print checks it doesn't print the MICR characters for routing and account numbers;  it just prints alpha numeric characters. I'm trying to find out if I'm going to have the same problem with a better new printer.  (This is very frustrating when you're trying to print paychecks!  Employees have absolutely no sense of humor about not getting their checks!)

Have you seen this? -->  LaserJet MICR Font solutions.
Do you have the proper MICR font for your printer installed?
read this to get a better understanding of Secure check MICR printing.

I have a Photosmart C8180 and it prints photos and documents wonderfully...but when I try to print checks form Quicken, they get into spooling twilight zone.  I've walked away and looked a couple of hours latter and still spooling.  Any ideas?

  • I'm trying to print Checks with Quicken. the print is 1/2 way across check with single and doubles

My printer is the HP Laserjet 1102W When I load a single or double check into the manual feed vertically taken from a 81/2 x 11 sheet of checks Quicken prints so that only the date and amount show up in the middle of the check. I have used these checks for years with the manual feed on a Laserjet 4 Plus. How do I get the printing to move so that it covers the whole check?

Thanks for your response and feedback.
I would recommend you continue with Quicken Essentials.  As noted by others, it performs well on Yosemite.
My personal experience is Quicken 2007 for Mac also on 10.7.5 (with many reports of it both updated and successfully running on Yosemite) and I personally would not touch Quicken Essentials with a 10 foot pole -- BUT, if it ain't broke for you, don't fix it!

  • Problem with printing checks from quicken 2004 - using Vista (32bit) and Officejet J6480

I have used my quicken 2004 version with my old XP with no problems and HP officejet J6480 All-in-One.  Just got a new computer and everything was going great until I went to print checks - it prints one line and then stops printing.  I assume the problem is with the Vista - is the Quicken 2004 too old?

  • Printing Checks in Quicken 2007

I just upgraded from a PowerMac G5 running Leopard to an intel MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. With the G5, I have been printing checks with no problem on a HP LaserJet P1006, but with the new computer they print as if the paper is rotated 180 degrees. Rotating the check doesn't work, because it messes up the alignment.
I used the Migration Assistant to move all of my apps, docs, etc., and everything else seems to be ok.
Any help will be much appreciated-I really need this functionality!
    Best, Erik

Well, I installed Rosetta and downloaded the latest driver for the printer. Interestingly, Quicken 2007's Get Info box doesn't have the checkbox to open in Rosetta. Checks still print upside down.
I found a workaround, though: I "print" the check to Preview, then rotate it 180 degrees and print to the printer. I can live with that, but I hope someday to figure out what happened...
I'm going to leave this question unanswered for now, but thanks for the help!

  • Trying to print checks

Hi,  I have an HP Officejet 6500 E710a-f all-in-one.  It is working fine with plain letter-size paper.  I have been having trouble printing checks with it, however.  Whenever I try to print checks, I always get an error message that the paper is not the same size as what I have indicated in the software.  I think this error message is wrong, however.  The check paper size is exactly the same size as the letter paper.  This special paper has space for 3 wallet-size checks to a page and the checks are "Check 21 image compatible"--a more recent legal requirement for checks, I believe.  I have been using the personal finance software for many years--printing checks with it with no problems--and using a different manufacturer's printer without any problem.  Do you have any thoughts on how to fix this?
Thank you so much for your help.

I know this is a little late. I recently had the same issue. The LOV showed the values properly in our Vision instance, but it didnt work in our Test instance. Oracle support wasnt able to pinpoint it. I discovered that the problem was with a particular System profile option (CONC_REPORT_ACCESS_LEVEL). It was set to null. It should either be set to "User" or "Responsibility". This particular value is used in the "WHERE" clause for the SQL statement used to fetch data for the LOV. You can check these settings using the Sys Admin responsibility.
Now, if I can just get my XML report (AP Checks) to run in a single step, instead of two separate steps... :)
I hope this helps. Regards, Mark.

  • Printing checks from payment program F110 with smartforms

Hi! I am working in ECC 5.0 and I want to print checks from the payment program with a smartform, I created a non standard smartform but when I try to link the smartform with the program by transaction FBZP the available options are SAPScripts only. Is possible to do it?
    Thanks in advance

Hi! Even I am working in ECC 5.0 and I want to print checks from the payment program with a SAP SCRIPT Form, but the issue is that we hav the standard print program for printing the form and this form is being used by some other custom program....I want to customize the standard print program in the transaction F110 so that It successfully calls that form which is now called by some other program. I've the option of customizing the standard print program as per the program which is calling that Form but I'm not able to understand the flow of either of the print programs. Can anybody guide me here on how to understand the flow of the print and go for the customizing of the standard print program for the payment process?
Also, the current print program and Form which is being used by some other custom print program is already customized in the transaction FBZP.
    Thanks in advance

  • Can you print from the ADF with Officejet Pro 8600 (not plus) & how to print checks in correct order

Client has Officejet Pro 8600 I(not plus) They want to print payroll checks out of QuickBooks but when they put the checks in tray 1, it pulls the check that is on the top, which happens to be the last check # in the stack.  Is there a way to print where the printer pulls from the bottom of the check stack as opposed to the top. I've looked and can't seem to find the answer. QuickBooks says we should check with HP and change something in the print drivers?
So I thought it would fix it if they printed the checks from the ADF where I thought I could control if it pulls from the front or back of the stack. When we tried to print from the ADF, it pulled from Tray 1 and we weren't given the option to print from the ADF.   (only Tray 1 & 2...which they don't have the 2nd tray anyway) So does this model, not being the PLUS model, not allow you to print from the ADF. (only scan, copy and fax from the adf?)
If we can't use the ADF for check printing, then how can we get the checks to print in the correct order.  Meaning, the 1st check # to print should be on the check that is on the bottom of that check stack in Tray 1.  Otherwise they have to count out the exact number of checks & place them in the tray.  Or reverse all of them which is not an efficient either! I hope this makes sense.

    Hi @kceacct ,
I see that you would like to know how to print out the checks in order. I will do my best to help you.
The ADF can be used for copying, scanning and faxing.
From the print driver you can only select the tray that you want to print from.
Changing Print Settings in Windows 8.
You would have to load the checks in order from top to bottom in the paper tray, since the printer just pulls the paper in from the top of the stack of paper.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Unable to print AP Check with MICR on AIX. The PDF output displays the MICR

I have peculiar situation here and I would really appreciate any help I can get.
    The issue:
The requirement here is to print an AP Check with the MICR. Using XML I have defined a template and when I preview the output in PDF, the MICR string displays fine. The same template also works fine from within Oracle Applications.
However, when I specify a printer and set the number of copies to 1, nothing is printed.
The issue that our DBA noticed was that the PDF to PS converter is dropping the MICR string and as a result nothing is getting printed. The client uses GhostScript for PDF2PS conversion and they have not been able to resolve this issue.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue? If so, what can be done to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Srini

I think that means tool is either not installed or not in path:-
"The Xpdf language support packages include CMap files, text encodings, and various other configuration information necessary or useful for specific character sets. (They do not include any fonts.) Any or all of these can be installed by simply unpacking the tar file and adding a few lines to your xpdfrc configuration file (see the README file inside each package for details).
have you seen what needs to be changed in xpdfrc configuration file?
    Thanks,
    JD

  • Compatible with quickbooks for printing checks? Driver support

How do I change the font on my 6600 officejet to be compatible with quickbooks for printing checks? When I try to print a check a box pops up and says "Driver lacks full font support". When I went ahead and tried to print the check any way, the wording was way off of the lines.

    Hello @Eddy61,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're receiving the error 'driver lacks full font support' when attempting through Quickbooks to your HP Officejet Pro 6600 All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you with resolving this error today. Now I did some research and found that this is a Quickbooks error with the compatibility with your product.
I found under the QuickBooks website some steps that  may quickly resolve this error for you. You can find the steps here.
From the File menu, select Printer Setup.
In the Form Name drop-down list and choose Check/Paycheck.
    Click the Settings tab.
Click the drop-down list next to Printer type.
    Select Page-oriented (Single sheets).
    Click OK to save changes.
Once the setting changes have been made, please try printing again. Should the issue persist, you can try loading a generic print driver onto your machine. To load the generic driver please follow the steps below.
How To Add An Alternate Driver:
Open your Start screen by either selecting the Windows button in the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard to the left of the Ctrl button
In the Start Screen type 'Devices and Printers' . If the Devices and Printers option doesn't automatically populate, than click on Settings on the top right and then click on Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers folder right click on your HP Officejet Pro 6600 and left click on Printer Properties
Left click on the Advanced tab
    Left click on New Driver
When the New Driver window opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of Manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
Select HP as the Manufacturer on the left
Select Deskjet 9800 as the printer on the right. If Deskjet 9800 doesn't appear than select 'Windows Update' on the bottom left and once the update completes you will be able to select Deskjet 9800.
After selecting Deskjet 9800 hit next to complete the New Driver Wizard
Under the Printer Properties window select 'Apply' but don't hit OK
    Select the General tab
Rename your printer back to HP Officejet Pro 6600
    Hit OK
Lastly, right click on your HP Officejet Pro 6600 one more time and left click on Printing Preferences
Left click on the Paper/Quality tab
Left click on the 'Normal' dropdown for Print Quality on the bottom right and change this to Fast Normal
    Hit Apply and OK
Now that the new driver has been successfully added in, please try printing through Quickbooks again to verify if the error message has been resolved .
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!
