Printing Directory
I am trying to create a Phone Directory for my neighborhood. I have this information in a Numbers document.
I created a Pages document in the format I wanted for the directory using the "mail merge" for the fields from the Numbers document. However, I cannot get it to print more than 1 record per page. Does anyone know how to do this?
Numbers & Pages are '09 version

You can!
If you turn on Show invisibles in the merged documents you will see there is a page break added on each page. By using Find and Replace you can delete all the Pages breaks in one go and you will have the info listed on one (or more pages). You may have to replace the page break with a paragraph break.

System Log Printer Directory Error
I'm attempting to resolve some error messages in my system log.
Here's one concerning my epson printer. I reinstalled the driver.
What is causing the error? I did trace the folders to /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter.
I can't locate a EPW/IJEPWAgent.app directory. So, is the error being cause because it can't find this 'missing' directory?

Yes. There are three automatic jobs that run daily, weekly, and monthly doing this sort of thing. They run in the early hours of the morning if your Mac is awake, or shortly after it wakes up if it was sleeping. In Leopard, if it was powered-off, they won't run; I don't know if it's the same in Snow. -
Printing directory of documents in Finder
I have tons of documents listed in Finder since 2006. Can I print the list/directory of all the documents. I do not want to print out all the documents. HELP!
One easy way would be to get TextWrangler (free). Then, in addition to having a good text editor, dragging a folder to a new document will give you an indented listing of the file names.

I want to print a list of the contents of a disk or a folder, just as I see it in the Finder's list view. How is this done in Tiger? In some older versions of the OS there was a menu command for this operation, something called Print Directory, I think.
There may be more user-friendly ways of doing this, but here's one way:
Open Terminal (in the Utilities folder).
Use "cd" to change directory to the folder you want to print
eg cd /Users/myuser/Documents
Use "ls" to list the contents to a file
ls -al > filelist.txt
You can then open the filelist.txt file from Finder in TextEdit and print it.

Printing to different recipient batches on IDS
Hello,
I would like some help with printing two seperate PDF's to different directories from one transaction on IDS, is there any documentation to help with this. Oracle support only focused on windows changing the printpaths.
I can't seem to get this working on Linux.

Epson printer sharing incompatibility between PPC Macs and Intel Macs?
I currently have an Epson Stylus Photo 2200 that is shared on my network so I can print to it anywhere including using Airport. This has worked fine for a long time. Last night I tried to print to it from Photoshop on the MBP and found lots of the options in the printer setup for this specific printer weren't showing up. It was very baffling, so after much trying I finally connected the printer directly to the MBP and the options were back. But other things were very different. Like instead of having different printer selections for bordless printing, there is only one printer selection and now when you select the paper size (8x10 for example) there are submenus on the paper size for borderless or other options.
Certainly better but very different. Looking in the printer directory, the file structure looks different and the version for this printer (which now isn't a driver itself but a plug-in to a main driver) is 3.0 which is much newer than the version in the PPC 10.4.5 or on their website. I don't have other epson printers to check out, but they appear as plug-in files now which they didn't before. This issue may apply to other epson printers, not just the 2200.
So, this is long winded way of saying that yes, the printer works (and works well) but it's not incompatible with the PPC mac version and you can't share the printer without losing functionality. It sure would be nice to be warned about this. I don't see anything from Apple or Epson that would let you know this. Has anyone else seen anything similar to this?I'm in the same situation --- I have a 2200 hooked up to a PPC desktop Mac, and I share it over Airport with my MBP. I have good and bad news.
Good news: Epson has posted new 2200 printer drives for Intel-based Macs on support.epson.com. Download and try them. Read the instructions --- you'll probably have to do a "Reset Printing System" and restart your MBP before installing the new drivers.
Bad news: while I'm able to print to my 2200 over Airport, I'm unable to access Print Settings to change the media type. Thus, unless I'm printing to plain paper, I still have to use a direct connection from the 2200 to my MBP.
Does anybody have a solution to the Print settings issue?

Counter Sales - Printing Receipt in Local Printer?
Dear All,
We have a Counter Sales scenario. We are using Quick Sale Order for that.
We have around 14 branches in Dubai, Abhudhabi etc.
When a customer comes to a counter, the sales person will book the order and print a invoice on a preprinted stationary in a dot matrix printer which will be located in each counter.
Our issue is the time consumption of printing in the local printer as the every time a request is run, it will go to the server and comes back.
For example, when a person in Abhudhabi prints a Receipt, the request will come to Dubai ( Since the server is in Dubai) and will print in the local printer.
Is there any way to increase the speed of the printing request?

Merlin RajeshThe data in the invoice/receipt/order will always have to go from the server to your local printer across the network. Whether direct to your printer from the server, or through your client PC then to the printer.
If the time consumption was inherently caused by the network, you would probably be having serious performance issues.
So my guess is that you are submitting a job to the concurrent manager and the time delay is the time from when you submit the request to when the job actually starts (and completes) then spools to the printer, with the main delay being it waiting in the queue of pending requests. Otherwise it may be how long the print requests are taking to run.
So you need to confirm where problem lies. Check this via the Date Submitted, Date Started and Date Completed on the current request.
If the time delay is between the Date Submitted and Date Started then you could define a new concurrent manager specifically (and only) for handling the print jobs that are time critical via System Administrator > Concurrent Manager > Define (copy the Standard Manager), and create specialization rules that only include your print concurrent programs (Invoice, Receipt). Then on the work shift, change the sleep seconds down to a low value (say 5 or 10 seconds).
PS. An alternative way to do this could be to create a "form" or front end component that gives you the report/format you need in real time, and print directory from your local machine ... but thats gonna take more than 5 minutes to create ;-)

HP LaserJet Profession​al P1606dn going offline
Hi There
In our office we have a HP LJ P1606dn that keeps going offline.
I've checked the options for sleep and auto-off and they are set to 1 hour and never respectively.
When you check the status of the printer in windows it says its offline and when I put the static IP (192.168.2.117) into the browser, the web image monitor doesn't load.
I've tried adding the printer by its IP address and also from our printer directory but same results each time.
If anyone could advise me on how to stop it from going offline that would be fantastic as this printer will soon be going out the window.

I am sorry to see that you are unable to connect to your wireless network and the printer will keep going offline. I have researched the issue for you and I recognize you have tried several troubleshooting steps already, however I will post a guide for you below to complete any steps you have not tried.

If the issue persists, I recommend calling HP's Technical Support to see if there are any other options for you as your printer is 4 months old, there should be warranty left on the unit.

Display list of files on windows 2000 server
Im wondering if there is an API for this or something to browse the windows 2000 file system via web page. I do not have to browse all directories. The directory will be fixed. I just need to get the file names within a directory and display them on my web page. Once I have the name I can simply host out and delete or move or etc.

Hi Experts
I am trying to implement a simple file lookup, can any one tell me which package i need to import while writing the UDF.I am getting an error message ("cannot resolve symbol URL class and URL connection class")
which package is to be imported so that URL class and URL connection etc will work.
Actually URL is the location where the file which i am using for lookup is placed .I need to open a connection to that and do the lookup.
The information stored in the file which i am using is not having "=" instead it has a ":" in between the source and the value
like in this case it will look like :FFFF:66666 in my file not FFFF=66666(tried out same scenario suggested by farooq in his wiki)
Can we do the lookup if the file is in this format ?
Your inputs will help me allot

Use org.apache.catalina.FileLogger
Hi All,
Does any1 know of a neat way to implement the org.apache.catalina.logger.FileLogger class in a JSP ?
I have referred to a number of sites and all I got was to configure the server.xml file's Context for the org.apache.catalina.logger.FileLogger class.
But that's not what I want.
What I want is to be able to implement the logging thru JSP code so that I can write my own errors in the log file.
Any suggessions ??

You can map that to a key using the syntax below (in this case the key is ';')

After doing the above, you just type the section title, hit esc, then hit ';' and you'll have your pre/post comments.
If you take out the last <Esc> you'll be left in insert mode rather than command mode.
EDIT: Vim folding might useful to you.. allowing you to collapse/expand sections. (I don't use it much.. so dunno how well it works..)
