Problem: Audio Device Change While Listening

So this is a problem that I have noticed on pretty much any computer I have worked on. If I am listening to iTunes through my standard speakers and then I connect my bluetooth headset, iTunes will still try and play out of the speakers while Windows plays out the headset. I have to restart iTunes for it to understand that I have a new audio device (which also happens to be the default). There has to be a way for iTunes to change playback devices somehow. In Windows it is changing correctly in Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices (in XP). It changes from SigmaTel Audio to Bluetooth Stereo Audio in the Volume and Audio tabs. This is also a problem in Vista. I have noticed it does this with both of my bluetooth headsets OR if I change from standard out to optical out on my home sound card. It is like it takes that initial setting and refuses to change when Windows does....
Anyways, any help would be GREAT! Thanks!

Hello Charlotte
Please check in device manager if the sound card is installed properly (start-control panel-system-hardware tab). The card must also be enabled. If there is everything ok please check also in control panel Sound and Audio devices properties. There are lots of settings. Maybe is one of them responsible about that. Please check also Volume control.
You can find it under start-all programs-accessories-entertainment-volume control. Check there if there is all set to maximum especially volume control and WAVE.

  • Problem: Audio device only accepts microphone

Alright. Ive been googling around, looking at other threads that have this problem without any success.
    This is the case:
I want to stream with FMLE with stereo mix as my audio device but i cant do that.
To start off with, stereo mix is enabled. Its not set as a standard device or anything such as that but its enabled.
For the second picture, the "list" of my audio devices in FMLE. Note that there is no stereo mix.
As the problem got more frustrating, i found this thread
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/941171
I tried to exactly what it said, but as you see on picture number 3, there is no
    "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveMovie\devenum 64-bit\{33D9A762-90C8-11D0-BD43-00A0C911CE86}"
So i couldnt copy any settings to
    "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveMovie\devenum\{33D9A762-90 C8-11D0-BD43-00A0C911CE86}"
I have reinstalled my motherboards audio drivers, which by the way is Realtek HD Audio, or something like that, without any success at all.
I have tried Viritual Audio Cable and checked regedit for any outputs/inputs but i couldnt find any.
I have also tried elder versions of FMLE but ive been having the same problem.
    My specs are the following:
    MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
    Intel Core i5 2500
    16,0 GB Corsair Vengance
    Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Z68X-UD3H-B3
    GeForce GTX 570
    977GB Seagate ST31000528AS ATA Device
    ANY help is VERY appriciated!

I have sound but FMLE and manycam are not detecting audio devices and also have a profile validation error. From reading the posts I should have "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveMovie\devenum\{33D9A762-90 C8-11D0-BD43-00A0C911CE86}" in my registry but it's not there.. Where do I add it and how?

  • High Definition Audio Device - Device Cannot Start (Code 10)

I am having a problem isolating an indication in the Device Manager with the High Definition Audio Device. I have Intel Graphics with this machine. The OS is W10 Pro. I loaded the audio driver for Windows 7 64 bit, but that did not make any difference. The Device Manager indicates that "This device cannot start (Code 10)" Driver Date 7/9/2015 / Version - 10.0.10240.16384 / Microsoft Driver Details Tab - Value = High Definition Audio Device From the Events Tab - (Information)Device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2804&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000\4&36c4990c&0&0301 requires further installation.     Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Hi  The problem HD audio device you are seeing is the Intel HDMI audio device that needs a driver. I looked around for a W10 driver for the hardware ID you posted, and can't find one. You don't need that device unless you want/need audio through the display port. The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W7 Intel graphics driver from your notebook's support and driver page, but install it this way...so that you just target the problem audio device... Download, but don't run this graphics driver... http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=4095873&swItemId=ob_127914_1&swEnvOid=4059 Download and install this free file utility.  64 bit is the second file listed. http://www.7-zip.org/ After you install 7-zip, right click on the graphics driver file you downloaded, and select 7-zip from the list of items. Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the driver to the folder name (sp64360). Go to the device manager and click on the problem Intel HD audio device needing the driver. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and see if the driver installs that way. Then reboot. If you explore the driver folder 7-zip created, and open the DisplayAudio folder, you will find the setup information file that has the hardware ID you posted as supported by the driver. Whether or not this audio driver will work on W10, that I do not know. But if you want to give that a try, that would be a way to do it without messing with the actual graphics driver.

  • Is there a way to have Firefox respect the default audio output device when it has been changed while Firefox is open?

I have been a Firefox user for many years and I still use it as my primary browser. One problem that has bothered me for years is the fact that when Firefox is open and I change my default audio output device, Firefox doesn't respect that change and continues playing audio through the device that was originally being used. Even if you stop the audio and continue playing, the output device doesn't change.
Is there any way this can be configured in Firefox? Now if I listen to music online (e.g. Soundcloud) I always use Chrome since it's respects the default audio output device change even while in the middle of playing audio.
    Reproduce:
    1. Start playing audio (e.g. from a YouTube video; HTML5 and Flash are affected)
    2. Change your default audio output device
    3. Audio will continue to play from original output device
    Thanks!

This is the same issue that has plagued me for years. I always thought that this was a Flash plugin issue, but it does occur on HTML5 as well. A friend of mine verified that this does not occur in Linux, but only on Windows. It would be great to have this fixed, as it's honestly the only thing that's making me use Chrome all the time, as I don't want to have multiple browsers open.

  • Can firefox change audio device preference without restarting?

I use my PC as a home theatre as well as for day to day usage, and have multiple audio devices.
For most usage, I route the sound through on-board audio (realtek) but for watching movies, I run it through the ATI HDMI output to the TV.
Currently, in order to watch a movie, I have to shut down Firefox, change windows prefered audio device, then restart Firefox.
Can I change the device preferences somehow within Firefox without restarting it?

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • HP High Definition Audio Device Code 10 Error -- Causing HDMI Sound Problem

Hey guys, my laptop is an HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j010dx Notebook PC, running Windows 8.1.
When I connect my laptop to my LG Smart TV through HDMI, I cant change the playback device to play the sound from the TV. The HDMI option does not appear in ¨Sound¨.
When I look in Device Manager, under Sound, video and game controllers; the High Definition Audio CODEC has an error which says (Device status):
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.
I have tried reinstalling and updating the drivers, cleaning and defraging the registry, optimizations etc.
I followed steps from other posts with similar problem as mine and nothing seems to work, I do not want to reinstall my windows just for this! I am running out of options, I tried everything I could for the past week. I would really appreciate some expert advice.
    Thanks!

  • Default audio device doesn't change until restart

I have speakers and usb headphones, I had no problem switching which device is used, but now when I change the default device a restart is needed to actually change where the sound comes from. This is extremely annoying. Using Windows 8.1, don't think
it matters ehat the headphones are, cause they work fine, but - logitech g930. So to sum - i change the default device, it gets the green thick next to it, but sound still comes from the previous one until pc is restarted, it used to work fine on the same
windows, maybe some update changed it.

Open Audio Midi Setup, Click the Plus button. Witch should add "Aggregate Device" to the Audio Device List. Click on "Aggregate Device." On the right hand side it should list all the audio device you can use for the Aggregate Device, if US-200 is on the list, check the check box to the left of "US-200".
Then click on the gear on the left hand side of the window, chose "use this device for sound out".
If you still can't get it to work, you might want to check to see if your mac is in 32 or 64 bit mode. If you want to check: Apple menu, about this mac, more info button, from the left column click on the word "Software." On the right column there should be a line that says "64-bit Kernel and Extensions:". witch should say yes or no.
the reason to check, would be some drivers only work in 32-bit mode.

  • HT5295 How can I listen to an audio podcast with the screen off? I don't need the screen on using power while listening

I can not find a setting to change this. Music will play with screen off or using another app while listening but the podcast app does not allow this

Have you checked for updates to the podcast app in the app store? There was an update that addressed exactly this problem a few days ago.

  • HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC: Problems installing audio driver (High Definition Audio device)

    Hello all,
My product is the HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC.
    Product number: E3B65PA#AR6
    OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
A few days ago, I  upgraded my windows from windows 8 to windows 8.1 and found that no sound coming from the HDTV when connecting my HDMI cable however video is perfectly fine. I was completely baffled because the audio was working perfectly fine before upgrading to Windows 8.1. I have tried several solutions posted on other forums, such as installing other drivers, and uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio Driver and then scanning for a hardware change. I have checked the HDMI cable and it is working fine with other laptop.
Device manager is showing 2 device :
High Definition audio device ( Showing yellow traingle)
      IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
When I am opening the properties of High Definition audio device it is showing :
This device cannot start (code 10)
    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.
If anyone knows how to fix the problem, please help me
    thanks in advance

    Hi:
The IDT audio driver (notebook speakers) appears to be working fine.
The problem is probably with the Intel graphics driver which  controls the HDMI audio.
My recommendation would be to install the latest Intel graphics driver from the link below and see if that fixes the problem.

  • How to change audio device?

    Hi!
My computer is HP Compaq 7900p small. I bought new graphics card which is Asus AMD HD6450. When I test it I saw problem - no sound.
When I click on Sounds tab, I see that AMD HDMI Output-AMD High Definition Audio Device - not plugged in and I couldn't change it to default device. When I troubleshooted it, problem was that one or more audio devices isn't running.
I was searched in google for solution, and found it that I need to change in BIOS from DVI port to HDMI port, but in my comp BIOS version is 7.11 and I don't see where it would be changed.
Only what I did was that I swapped integrated audio to enabled then I get sound from my speakers, but AMD High Definiton Audio Device still isn't plugged in. Please help me change it to default!
Pleeease answer! in other subjects I wait for months! ;( Thanks for your advice!

  • Elitebook 2540p Motherboard changed. Integrated motherboard IDT audio device missing in windows 7.

    Hi,
     Old situation:
(I recently changed motherboard for my computer Elitebook 2540p. When i installed windows 7 to my computer the computer doesn't list any audio devices in device manager page. I've checked bios for any faulty settings and they are all set right. Theres no yellow marks in device list either and all drivers seems to be installed.)
    New situation:
Installed windows 7 again and computer found / installed audio devices normally. I tested computer for hours to play audio from it and everything worked fine. I restarted computer several times / re installed battery to the computer. On one restart the computers audio quick mute button below the screen appeared to be orange and the sound speaker icon in windows was marked as X. I check device list again from device manager and there was no audio devices listed (No sound devices at all). After that i restarted computer and before the computer started downloadin windows i pressed the mute button and it turned blue. I then went to windows and sound devices / sound was working again.
     Old situation:
I have motherboard integrated IDT audio device.
When i try to install audio drivers from hp site for 2540p i get "Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update." And the device manager doesnt list any IDT audio devices.
I then installed xp and the computer found IDT audio device normally and the sounds are working correct.
    New situation:
After i did new windows 7 install and all my audio drivers installed / devices showed in device list / audio worked i downloaded audio drivers from HP driver site and installed them to the computer.
Audio problems has not been occured again after my HP screen mute button turned to orange / Windows sound speaker was marked as X / Computer didn´t find any audio devices.
Currently waiting if the problem occurs again and trying to think what would cause this ( Hardware problem or software)? And how to fix it permanently.
    Any help for this problem?
BIOS is updated to newest version from HP driver download center.
    All windows drivers are installed.
