Problem: Connecting to EJB from CORBA with Glassfish as AppServer

Hi all,
I was looking and tryieng for days now, but never found a proper solution or how to, to solve my problem:
I have to expose a Remote EJB as Corba Object and provide a set of IDL Files, which can be used by any CORBA Client (i.e. IIOP.NET).
First i tried it the EJB3 way, but everywhere is mentioned that IIOP cann only be used by EJB2.x way. So this ist what i have done so far:
The Home Inteface, as described at many tutorials
package org.ba.services.iiop;
import java.rmi.RemoteException;
import javax.ejb.CreateException;
import javax.ejb.EJBHome;
public interface KursmanagerRemoteServiceHome extends EJBHome {
    public KursmanagerRemoteService create() throws CreateException, RemoteException;
}The Service Interface:
package org.ba.services.iiop;
import java.rmi.RemoteException;
import java.util.ArrayList;
import javax.ejb.EJBObject;
import org.ba.entities.Kurs;
import org.ba.entities.Person;
* @author Pocket
public interface KursmanagerRemoteService extends EJBObject{
    public void prepareApplication(long callID) throws RemoteException;
    public boolean resetDataFile() throws RemoteException;
    byte[] getOneMegabyte(long callID) throws RemoteException;
}there are some more methods, but thats not the point
And this is the implementing bean:
package org.ba.services.iiop;
import java.rmi.RemoteException;
@Stateless
@RemoteHome(KursmanagerRemoteServiceHome.class)
public class KursmanagerRemoteServiceBean extends AbstractService implements KursmanagerRemoteService, SessionBean {
    @EJB
    Kursmanager km;
    @Init
    public void create() {
    public void prepareApplication(long callID) {
    public boolean resetDataFile() {
         return emptyDataFile();
public EJBHome getEJBHome() throws RemoteException {
        return null;
    public Object getPrimaryKey() throws RemoteException {
        return null;
    public void remove() throws RemoteException, RemoveException {
    public Handle getHandle() throws RemoteException {
        return null;
    public boolean isIdentical(EJBObject arg0) throws RemoteException {
    return false;
    public void setSessionContext(SessionContext arg0) throws EJBException, RemoteException {
    public void ejbRemove() throws EJBException, RemoteException {
    public void ejbActivate() throws EJBException, RemoteException {
    public void ejbPassivate() throws EJBException, RemoteException {
    }Deployed on Glassfish V2ur1
IDE: Netbeans 6.0.1
Does anyone know if this is correct? How do i create the IDLs correctly? Which of the SessionBeanIF Methods have to be implemented (or at all)?
is there no easy way to expose objects for CORBA Clients?
I would appreciate any help..
thanx
Andreas

John,
JDeveloper 3.1 is not certified against OAS 4.0.8.2 - and JDeveloper 3.2 will not be certified against any version of OAS, since Oracle is moving to iAS.
If your project is in its early stages, I suggest that you consider switching to iAS - and you can work against Apache until iAS is available, which will be with JDeveloper 3.2, in the last quarter of this calendar year (2000).
Thanks
Blaise

Hi,
I was also searching for such a functionality. It seems that there is really no solution provided by JCAPS. Does anybody know if future versions will support this in my opinion basic functionality for a SOA Suite?
A work around would be to use other IDEs to create a Java Web Service and than use this web service inside JCAPS.
This also solves the problem, that a JCD can only implement one operation.
For example the Sun Enterprise Studio can import a WSDL and creates the corresponding java classes.

• Problems Connecting to Sony J-H3 with FW 800 on my MacBookPro

I just got the new MacBookPro with only a FW800 port. I used to connect to my Sony J-H3 deck via FW400. I didn't think there would be a problem now that I have to use FW800, but there is no connection between FCP and the deck. What do I need to do to control the deck or at least be able to capture from it with capture now? I don't need HD footage and realize I can't do that with just a firewire and the deck. I need to capture the footage in SD. I'm on the field, so I won't be able to buy an IO or anything. I have to go through the deck. Thanks. Please help.

I looked up the J-H3 and it just lists a "6-pin" Firewire port, so are you using a FW 800->400 cable to connect the deck to your laptop?

• I am having problems connecting to my home wifi with my iphone4s

Over the past couple of weeks I have experienced a problem connecting to my home wifi service (Sky) with my iphone4s although my laptop connects fine. My phone also picks up the wifi at my place of work. At home when in close proximity to the router (netgear) on the phone the network name appears in the wifi settings but on the wifi networks page it does not get a tick against the name (wheel just keeps revolving). I have taken it back to the retailer (Vodaphone) and they recommend it be sent back to Apple (Liverpool or Manchester) as they consider it a hardware fault. I will be without the phone for probably 1-2 weeks and I use it within my working environment regularly.
Has any one any ideas?

ps. If I go down the route of 'forget this Network' will I need to do any resets on the router as I cant find the username and password when I enter my IP address for the router.

• I keep getting an error message there was a problem connecting to server.  URLs with the type "file" are not supported

I keep getting an error messahe that says
There was a problem connecting to the server.  URLs with type "file" are not supported
Any ideas?

Actually, in my case, turning off Time Machine didn't work. I had the same problem. We definitely traced it to Time Machine. The "Fix" was this: plugged in and designated different external HD as Backup volume. Then unplugged it and plugged in the original disc (after testing in in a different machine) and now the computer recognized it and error message stopped popping up. The Apple tech was as puzzled as I as to why this worked, but perhaps, forcing the machine to re-recognize it (or maybe even, gettting it recognized by a different machine first) somehow worked some magic.

• How connect to EJB from java webstart ?

Hi,
I'm a newcomer to J2EE, I'd like to build J2EEE app
first of all,I've developed simple EJB components and jSwing client to call method from EJB. All in the same project.
Client programe has method
private static Context getInitialContext() throws NamingException {
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "admin");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "welcome");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://10.145.100.2:23891/current-workspace-app");
return new InitialContext(env);
When I run client app it work well, I follow in Jdev905 to deploy to java webstart
1. Create .jar file (Item JAR file - Simple archive)
2. Create Java web start(JNLP) files
after that, I have .jar,.html,.jnlp file
3. running project(use embedded OC4J server)
4. running .html file
first, java webstart download code then run but nothing

I try my best, It's taken me a week but I still do'nt understand.
! Please help show how to go through that or how to deploy using java web start. We intend to develop rich client.

• Problem creating a EJB from third party into NWDS

Hi everybody:
I´m trying to create a EJB from a third party software (jar file). I imported the jar file into my EJB Module (Properties->Java Build Path->Library), selected the EJB candidate and wrote the ejb-jar.xml according to the vendor's instructions in order to define home and remote interfaces.
When I deploy my application (containing the EJB Module), I got this error from the server:

Hi Amol:
Thanks for your answer, Let me explain a little more what I'm doing:
The third party software is a jar file that contains three classes:
com.account.AccountLocateSessionBean (Remote Interface)
com.account.AccountLocateSessionBeanHome (Home Interface)
com.account.AccountLocateBean (EJB class)
This 3 classes are EJB 2.0 complaint and were tested in other J2EE container (Sun Open). I want to deploy this EJB into SAP Was J2EE 6.40 server (SP14). In my last post I wrote what I did in order to create de ejb-jar.xml into NWDS. This file looks like:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE ejb-jar PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Enterprise JavaBeans 2.0//EN"
                             "http://java.sun.com/dtd/ejb-jar_2_0.dtd">
<ejb-jar>
        <description>EJB JAR description</description>
        <display-name>EJB JAR</display-name>
        <enterprise-beans>
            <session>
                <ejb-name>AccountLocateBean</ejb-name>
                <home>com.account.AccountLocateSessionBeanHome</home>
                <remote>com.account.AccountLocateSessionBean</remote>
                <ejb-class>com.account.AccountLocateBean</ejb-class>
                <session-type>Stateless</session-type>
                <transaction-type>Container</transaction-type>
            </session>
        </enterprise-beans>
</ejb-jar>
Then, when I build the ear file (This is a Enterprise application that contains my EJB Module) and try to deploy this ear file into SAP Was J2EE 6.40 server (SP14) I got the exception wrote in my last post.
Thanks for your help

• Problem connecting to non-apple routers with WEP key

Hi there, have tried to connect to two wireless routers recently which have WEP keys. One gives me "Connection timed out" after about 5 seconds and the other says "incompatible security". The passcode is too long to enter if I choose any of the WEP 40/128-bit options (it's 32 characters long!)
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon

Hi.
I can't connect to WEP networks either with Leopard 10.5.1.
It just says "incompatible Security". I've tried it for one hour without any luck.
Why doesn't Apple realize that there are millions of WEP encrypted networks out there and that it is essential to be able to connect to them. (it worked with Tiger, didn't it?)
Is there a knowledge base article out there what to do about it?
I just can't walk to hotel managers and ask them to switch to WPA, especially if they don't have a clue how to do that and older windows computers won't be able to connect any more.
Why a transparent menu bar but no way to connect to WEP networks?
I'm very disappointed. Apple, fix this! (now!)
Is there actually a way to get your money back for Leopard if this basic things don't work anymore?
Thank you for any help.

• Having problems connecting getting results from MySQL

Hi,
I'm trying to learn some aspects of J2EE but i'm a bit
stuck with EJB and i'm not sure what is going wrong so that's why i'm here :)
What I want to do is very simple.
I have a working MySQL database "musiccatalog" and I want to query it using any sort of client so to do that
I create an Entreprise Application using netBeans 4.1
Then I create a new CMP Bean called Album.
I need something simple to test on so I have only one CMP Bean.
My Album CMP Beans contains following CMP fields albumId, artistId, name, releaseDate, insertionTime.
I also have a bunch of methods for LocalInterface: getters, setters, finders, and create() method.
I don't need to add anything or write in the code cause it is generated by the IDE (netBeans 4.1)
So my Album CMP Bean is written and I deploy project to see if all works fine. It works. My EJB-Module and Web-Module are deployed on the server (Sun Application Server 8).
Next I create a new SessionBean called AlbumFacade that will access my CMP bean.
I will have to add a lookupAlbumBean() method that will return a LocalHome interface, I also add a private variable of Type AlbumLocalHome. This variable is intialized in ejbCreate() method using the lookAlbumBean() method.
Now it's time to add a business method to my SessionBean.
I create a new buisness method public String getAlbumInfo()
public String getAlbumInfo(int idAlbum) throws javax.ejb.FinderException {
ejb.AlbumLocal albumL = albumLH.findByPrimaryKey(new Integer(idAlbum));
return albumL.getAlbumName();
so in this method i will get a reference to albumL interface and i will ask it to return the albumName of an album.
So at this moment i'm done with Beans :)
I redeply the app and it is redeplyed successfully.
Now to test my beans i write a client. It'll be a servlet.
What I need to do next is to create a ServiceLocator in my WebModule. This ServiceLocator will be used in the Servlet to lookup the remote interface of the AlbumFacade SessionBean.
MyServlet will output a form with a textfield and a submit button where the user (me) types a number.
If the servlet receives albumId parameter it'll look up the remote AlbumFacadeRemote interface and then i'll call the buisness logic of the SessionBean ( getAlbumInfo())
and at this moment I should reach what I wanted but....
The Application deploys and after I enter a number I got a vert nice StackTrace like this
type Exception report
message
description The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

and it happens when the application queries the database.
And unfortunately I don't see what may be wrong. If I do the same with a pointbasde sample database everything works fine.
I tried to connect to MySQL via JConnector and also via jdbc:odbc bridge but i got still the same error.
It drives me really mad 'coz I don't know what I do wrong.
I can connect to database. But then something goes wrong.
Can somebody give me an idea of what maybe wrong?
Thanks :)

The last one should be:

• Problems connecting an NEC AccuSync ASLCD223WXM with DVI

Hi all,
I have a PowerMac Dual G5 and just got a new monitor - an NEC AccuSync ASLCD223WXM. The monitor works fine over a VGA connection, but I wanted to try DVI so I got a Dell cable from a friend who wasn't using his. When I connect the NEC monitor to the Mac with the DVI cable, the monitor seems to switch between DVI and VGA inputs, looking for a source. The Mac desktop is visible for about a second, and then the monitor blacks out and appears to be trying to look at the VGA input (or it could just be going black). Then it switches back to the DVI input, displaying the desktop for about a second. The process repeats indefinitely.
The resolution is set at 1650x1050 at 60 Hz.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm wondering if I have a bad cable, or the wrong cable. There's DVI-D (which I think I have), DVI-M, DVI-A, etc... There's also single link and dual link. Not sure which I have. I've seen some info which says that the Radeon 9600 XT which is in my machine wants a DVD-D dual link cable, and the NEC monitor wants a DVI-D single link cable, but I don't trust the sources completely (and I don't know if that would cause this type of problem).
Thanks for any help,
Russ

Some more info in case it helps -
The Radeon 9600 XT in my Power Mac G5 appears to have a DVI-I port on the back. It has four extra pins around the flat contact. The NEC monitor appears to have a DVI-D port. It does not have pin inputs for the four extra pins around the flat contact. According to this (questionably creditable) webpage - http://www.pccables.com/cables/DVI_cables.html - a DVI-D to DVI-D cable is the right one to use in this situation.
Also, when I lowered the resolution down to 1280x800, the flashing went away. Raising the resolution caused it to come back. I found this webpage on Apple's site - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301752 - which says this:
"The maximum resolution available when this display is connected to a single-link DVI port is 1280 x 800 - you must connect the display to a dual-link DVI port in order to access the higher resolutions available to the display."
Does this help diagnose the problem? Do I need a dual-link DVI-D cable? I called NEC and they said use a single-link DVI-D cable, but the person on the other end of the phone didn't sound technical so I'm inclined not to believe them.

The following is the code of the client:
System.setProperty(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "achong");
System.setProperty(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "achong");
Context context = new InitialContext(System.getProperties());
Object object = PortableRemoteObject.narrow(context.lookup("MyBean"), TheBeanHome.class);
TheBeanHome home = (TheBeanHome) object;
I have set "support client choice" while deploying the bean, and set which roles can access which methods. Any idea? Is my code is incorrect?

I have the same problem like you.
If you solve it, please give me a hint.
Thank you very much!
