Thanks in advance.this is an extended ascii char a u with two dots on it. The default encoding for Strings is iso-8859-1 and I guess this char is not supported there. When creating a String specifiy encoding utf8.

  • Problems converting string value to database timestamp

    I have values coming from a flat file in the form YYYYMM. I need to convert this value to a database timestamp. The reason for this is, furhter down in the flow, I need to bump this value up against a database table column in the form of YYYYMMDD HH:MM:SS.
    The first thing I do is tack on a day to the value so I have a string value in the form of YYYYMMDD. Once this is done, I then try to pass the value to a data conversion transformation. A sample value looks like this:
    20140801
    When I try to conver the string to DT_DBTIMESTAMP, I get:
    "The conversion returned status value 2 and status text "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data.".
    I don't get it. The string is length 50. What am I missing?

    Had to break apart the source.

    Hi,
    Try declaring the Hex chars using the ABAP char utilities. This is just a sample piece of code on how to declare and use:
    CLASS cl_abap_char_utilities DEFINITION LOAD.
    DATA:  ws_lf TYPE c VALUE cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf.
    data:    c_newline           TYPE x VALUE '0D'.  [ it is zero D, for carriage return ]
    ws_lf = c_newline.
        CONCATENATE it_tab-maktx
                    ws_lf
                    ws_template

  • Formula nodes and hex values: strange behavior?

    Hi all,
    I am having problems using hex values in a formula node. It appears that the hex values are converted to decimal and then assigned to the variable. For example, if I initialize an int8 in a formula node to 0xFE (should be -2), I get 127 (the highest positive value an int8 can have). In order to get -2, I must initialize the variable to -0x02. However, if I initialize the variable to -2 decimal and view it in a indicator in hex, it displays the correct 0xFE. Is this typical behaviour? I didn't think negative hex values were used and I can't find it documented anywhere. Here is a VI that shows the "problem".
    Thanks!

    Hi brett,
    int8 test = 0xFE
    You defined a variable to be of type I8, but then you want to assign a value out of range of that datatype. LabVIEW will coerce the value to fit the datatype resulting in 0x7F stored in test.
    int16 test2 = test
    Now you copy the value stored in test over to test2. Why do you even expect a value of 0xFE here? In the line before you stored 0x7F in test, so test2 will also have the value 0x7F!
    int8 test3 = -0x02
    This was explained before…

  • Double value change event if cursor is set busy (LV2009)

    Hello everybody,
    I just migrated from LV 8.0 to LV 2009 (on linux) and now got problems with a value change event. I want to send a command if a button is pressed and send another one if the button is released. After sending the command I need to wait for an acknowledge from the receiver and to avoid user interaction in between I lock the cursor with "set busy" VI until the acknowledge is received. To see, when the button is pressed or released, I use a value change event. Inside the event structure the cursor is set busy.
    This worked reliable in LV 8.0 but not any more in LV 2009. The button's mechanical action is set to "switch until released" and if I press the button and keep it pressed it is reset to false automatically. The value change event is fired twice instead of only once (see attached vi) and "new value" is one time true and one time false. This doesn't happen if the mechanical action is set to "switch when pressed".
    Does anybody have an explanation or a workaround for this behaviour? Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug in LV? For now I'll just keep the cursor unlocked.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Converting a hex String to its corresponding hex value...?

    Yeah, I'm having quite a bit of fun guessing this one... :p
    I have a string of n characters and have used Integer.toHexString( ( int )str.charAt( i ) ) to convert each character to a string representing its hex value. Now I need to USE that value for bit-wise operations, like, say, applying the AND, OR, etc. operators...
    Example:
    hexvalue &= 0xC000FFFF; //the second value is the one extracted from the string;
    How can achieve this...? Any help is greatly appreciated... :}

    Since a Java char is numerically a Java short, you can apply bitwise operators to chars directly - the conversion to hex simply changes the way that the char is viewed; the result can also be viewed as a number in other bases.
    For instance, the char 'A' can be also be represented as any of the following values:
    binary - 1000001
    octal - 101
    decimal - 65
    hex - 41
    Likewise, 'Z' can also be viewed as
    binary - 1011010
    octal - 132
    decimal - 90
    hex - 5A
    "Anding" the letter 'A' with 'Z' ('A' & 'Z') or doing the same using any of the other representations will result in (binary 1000000, octal 100, decimal 64, or hex 40) - the bit pattern is the same, only the representation of the result varies.

  • Issue: Illustrator automatically changing hex values?

    Hi there,
    I have a very frustrating issue that is causing problems in our IT department. I create our UI file designs in Illustrator, then export as PNG for the developers to view. The files are saved as AI files. However, I've noticed that Illustrator seems to be changing the colours of some of my files and I cannot figure out why. The colours appear very very similar, not different enough for me to notice, until I check the hex values which are all different from what I selected in my swatches.
    Can anyone please help me figure out why this is happening and resolve our colours?
    Thanks!
    Dale

    Thanks all! I've altered/defaulted the colour settings and will now monitor the hex values. Really appreciate everyone's input, will report back to let everyone know if this is resolved or not.
    Just edited this to post another 2 issues which I feel may be related. I am now experiencing some graphics issues where if I move some elements on screen on certain files, Illustrator goes nuts and I can't resolve it. Here's an example where I've moved a grouped button design, then moved it back, but part of the group stays in the same place, static with no way of touching it. If I move a bunch of other elements around over the static area, this sometimes resolves it.
    The other problem is with font sizes. If I direct select a piece of text for example, it will tell me its a certain size, say 13pt, when in fact it's 11pt. I can resolve this only by resizing to a different size, then back to 13pt, the font size renders correctly then. On occasion, using the text tool and selecting an individual letter or the space between them, will mysteriously show the correct font size.
    Something strange is going on here! I've restarted the computer, reset the PRAM on my Mac, ran Permissions Repair too, with no avail. Illustrator is also completely up to date.
    Can anyone help please? Thanks!

  • How to convert hex into a string value

    hei evryone!
    can anyone please help me on how to convert a hex value into a string suppose.. Example i want to convert 4275646479 which is a hex value, into a string "BUDDY"? how will i do that???
    Any suggestion, tutorial site would be appreciated?
    Thx!

    something like this will convert string to byte[]
    e.g.
    you want to convert following.
    656667 => ABC
    String toConvert = "656667";
    byte[] returnVal = String2byteArr (toConvert );
    String FinalStr = new String(returnVal);
    public static byte[] String2byteArr(String Result)
    byte[] byteRet = new byte[Result.length()/2];
    int k=0;
    for (int j=0; j<(Result.length()); j+=2)
    try
    Integer I = new Integer (0);
    I = I.decode ("0x"+Result.substring(j, j+2));
    int i = I.intValue ();
    if (i > 127)
    i = i - 256;
    byteRet[k++] = new Integer(i).byteValue();
    catch(Exception e)
    System.err.println(e);
    return byteRet;
    }// String2byteArr
    Hope this will help you, So that i can get 3$ (:-)

  • Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 not allowing me to change colors by typing in a precise hex value.

    Over the last two days, I have lost the ability to type in a hex value to the color picker to change an object's color.  Anyone else experience this and know of fixes?  I can select from the pre-made swatches or gradient-color picker field, but I need to be able to enter precise hex values per my style guide.

    JWoo,
    What happens if you use the Web Safe RGB from the Color palette flyout and insert the values there?
    For failures in general, you may try the list.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • How do I read a hex value and then convert to the binary equivalent?

    I am reading hex values from a register on my unit under test. I only want to monitor certain bits in the hex value to check a status. I have everything down to run the program except how to read my hex values in binary form. Any suggestions out there?

    If this is just a matter of display, then right click and choose "Format & Precision...". Beware, this works only with integer indicators (I8/16/32 and U8/16/32).
    If the problem is to extract a bit value in a specific position, then go to the "Advanced >> Data manipulation" sub-palette where are all bit manipulation functions (rotate, shift, split...).
    Don't forget either the logical functions (And, Or...) in the boolean sub-palette, where is also the "number to boolean array" function (to be used in conjunction with an index array node).
    Another option is to use string conversion functions, in the "String >> String/Number conversion" sub palette.
    Have a look to the attached image.

  • Converting Hex to Integer Value

    I'm trying to convert hex code to the corresponding integer, which can then be used to display a character.
    For example I have the code.
    int i = 0xE7;
    System.out.println(i);
    System.out.write(i)This produces the output as expected with the first output outputting 231, and the second line outputting the corresponding character.
    My problem comes when trying to make it so the hex code is variable.
    For example, I receive an output of 7
    This output is then the last digit of the hex code (so i check if needs to be converted to a, b etc.) then try and combine it with the prefix 0xE to create the hex code.
    I'm not quite sure how to do this bit as I cant carry out
    num = 7;
    hex = "0xE"+num;
    int i = hex;as the last line doesn't calculate due to hex being a string.
    Many thanks for your help.

    The char array is currently being created using:

    Look this is OK, you need to do nothing but just the following:
    // I am using the very first example you provided
    // i is the index for the char
    String hex = "0E" + hexchar;
    Integer.parseInt(hex, 16);
    System.out.println(i);

  • How to tackle the dataflow problem when Value Change event always triggers after another GUI event

    We know that Value change event always triggers after another GUI event. Eg, the user modifies string control, the user clicks on a boolean control. Then event boolean clicked is triggered before event string control value change.
    Now suppose somehow the GUI event that must happen to subsequently trigger the Value change event can potentially affect the data that Value change event is supposed to work on. How can we tackle this problem ?
    For example, in a mockup application that the grand purpose is to have user entered values in a textbox logged to a file (no missing information is accepted, and there is a boolean to determine how the information is logged).
    There are 2 controls, boolean A when clicked (mouse down) will load random number in text box B. Text box B is designed with event structure VALUE change which saves whatever values user enters into text box B to a log file.
    There are 3 problems when instead of clicking anywhere on the front panel after modifying text box B, the user ends up clicking on boolean control A.
    1. Event mouse down on Boolean control A will execute first, modifying text box B content before the user entered values in B get saved.
    2. The value of boolean A can potentially affect how textbox B is loggged.
    3. The value of boolean A affects how the file is logged and this is indeterminate. Somehow when running this VI with no Highlighting, the textbox B Value change event executes -before- boolean A value is updated (F to T). When running this VI with Highlighting, the boolean A value is updated (F to T) (because we click on it) -before- textbox B value change event occurs. Why is it like this ?
    Now the situation I made up seems non-sense, but I believe it resembles one way or another a problem that you might run into. How would you solve this problem elegantly ?

    You can set the string control to "update while typing".
    Are you sure appending the log to itself is reasonable? Wouldn't it grow without bounds if the users keeps entering strings or pressing the ingore button?
    Why isn't the "constant" a diagram constant instead of a control. Is the user allowed to change it?
    To reset just write empty strings or a false to local variables of the controls (renit to defaults" seems a bit heavy handed).
    All you probably need is a single event case for "ignore:value change" and "String" value changed", no need for the local variable..
    Also add a stop button and an event for it.
    You don't need the timeout event.

    I have 2 drop down list. I am trying to get the value of first drop down from other drop downs value change listener. Initially one drop down contains a default value. First time I got the value while calling the value change listener. But if I change the default value to other in the first drop down and call the value change listener of the second drop down then I got the old value in the bean. Can anyone suggest a process

    If I use the following code it gives me the current index.
                valueChangeEvent.getComponent().processUpdates(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance());
                System.out.println(valueChangeEvent.getNewValue());
    This is also giving me current index.

                    if(selectedValue!=null){
