Problem entering password sql plus in wnidows vista

hello,
after i successful installation in windows vista, i try run SQL Plus
when i try running SQL PLUS, i have to entered my username and password.
Entering my username is no problem. but when i try entering password, i cannot entering input password because no matter what i do, my password does not appear on the screen SQL Plus
Is something wrong about installation?
Please help me.

Well, that is why it is called password. You do not want anyone to see it while you are typing, right? Just type in the password (you should see * for each typed password character) and hit enter. And if you are running non-gui version of SQL*Plus (in command window) you will not see any characters (even *) while typing password.

  • Sql*plus in Windows Vista OS

    Hi,
I got 'Windows Vista' OS, where 'Oracle 10G Express Edition' installed.
To my knowledge sql*plus should be available by default with Oracle version. But here 'Run sql Command Line' is being appeared which has got the similar look as a command prompt which seems to be incovenient. Is there anyway that i can have sql*plus with tool bar in it.
    Thanks,
    Ram J

Is there anyway that i can have sql*plus with tool bar in it.If you mean the "old" sqlplusw, then no, there isn't. You can :
    1. use SQL Workshop within XE
    2. install SQL Developer (free).

  • Problem logging in sql plus

If you are running Personal Oracle, you do not need to give host
string to log in SQL Plus. However, database should be started
    up first.
In order to run SQL Plus on a client workstation in client-
server environment, you should create a host string using Net
Easy Configuration. If you have created 'ORACLE' as the host
string, it is OK. You will also have to start a listener.

sorry I was trying to reply to a post I read and had this
    happen. Please ignore this.

  • IOS 6.1.3 problems, entering passwords and greyed out wifi

Since upgrading to iOS 6.1.3, I've had many issues! Firstly, I got the greyed out wifi screen... Now I've spoken to a few people before, they said that it is a hardware related issue, which I find really hard to believe unless the os messed up something on my motherboard... Wifi was working perfectly find before I updated the iOS!
Second issue I've been having is entering passwords... On a couple of websites, an apps, whilst entering passwords, safari would crash, this also happened when I was entering a password on google chrome...
Really bad update just to fix the Passcode by pass which it would take someone with a masters degree to figure out!!! Any help would be appreciated!

The update stressed the chipset past the breaking point. It was already failing before the update. Now that it's been updated, it's detected the failure.

  • Problem entering password at login

When prompted to enter my password for login on my Macbook Pro (late 2011), it takes multiple times to get the password correct. The weird part is that as this continued to happen I realized I was not inputting the password incorrectly, rather half-way through entering the password the contents of the password box would hi-light and the following keystrokes would replace what I had already entered. This happens consistently each and everytime I log in. I have tried typing slowly and carefully and even resorted to 'pecking' without resolving the issue. It seems to hi-light between the 4th and 5th keystroke every time. The problem self resolves after the 3rd or 4th attempt of entering the password. This is a major nuisance and I would really appreciate anyone's constructive input.

Does this still happen with random letters?
If it does, then I have absolutely no idea.
If it doesn't then it might be either your password is a bit strange or your keyboard layout is wrong.
Login and then go to System Prefs > Language & Text > Inpiut Sources. Make sure Australian or US is selected.
If this doesn't help please repy and say so.

  • Error in entering to sql*plus

I am getting TNS unable to resolve service name when i am logging onto sql*plus8.0 to oracle8.0.what should i type in username and password and hoststring at the prompt

    Hi,
there is a file called tnsname.ora which is used to define your servicename/sid and the address of oracleserver.when user/client try to connect to oracle it first look into this file for the SID entry and ip addres of oracle server.
make this entry into your tnsname which is avilable under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin either manually or with the help of net8config assistent tool installed with oracle client.
    hope this will help you

  • SQL*Plus hangs when connecting to remote DB (Solaris, 10gR2)

    First of all the particulars:
    Local System:
Solaris 8, Oracle 10.2.0.4, October CPU
    Remote System:
Solaris 10, Oracle 10.2.0.4, July CPU
We are trying to initiate a connection from our local system to our remote system using a DB Link. After opening SQL*Plus, we log in with <user>@<dblink>, are asked for a password, and after entering the password, SQL Plus hangs indefinitely (we typically have to kill the sqlplus process to regain our session). Also, logging into the local system with a local account, and then querying using the db link (select * from dual@<link>) gives the same result.
From the remote system, we CAN log into the local system using the same process, and we can also query the local system. in other words, it works in one direction, but not the other.
We have checked all the usual suspects: tnsnames, sqlnet, db_domain, global_names, and all are set correct for our setup (although I of course welcome suggestions to check something else in the files). Also have confirmed validity of /etc/hosts entries, and permissions on those files for the 'oracle' user. A 'tnsping' and 'ping' are both successful in both directions, though I understand these only check the listener and hardware layer.
Our Sys Admin has checked firewall connections between the two systems, and stated that they're open on the listener port (1521).
Listener log files on the remote host, when the hang happens, show an established connection from the local host.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to check for next?
Thank you in advance for the assist!

Whew, that truss output is enough to make your eyes bleed!
This system is on a closed network, so I cannot post the files here, nor would I wish reading those things on anyone nice enough to spend a minute here helping me out!@
But comparing the truss from the "broken" system, and the working one, the sqlplus that hangs returns a:
ERR #134 ENOTCONN on a getpeernam() thread.
The other truss (working side), does not throw that particular line, and the truss output varies widely after that line in the output fille.
After a few moments letting the sqlplus process "hang", I get:
    ERR #62 ETIME
Outside of that, lust a lot of hex values!

    thank you
    A.

I have only begun to learn database related fields. I have downloaded the iSQL*Plus (from this Oracle site), but am unable to use it due to complications in installing this product. How does one access the Oracle server? I trying to access it via my home PC (w/ windows98). Do I need to purchase additional software on my own? if so which one? How would any of you suggest I go about learning the PL/SQL (on my own as classes won't fit in schedule) ? Appreciate your help.

  • Sql plus password typing problem

    Hello there
I'm trying to access sql plus 11g on windows 7, i correctly write the username but when i try to type the password, nothing is typed at all, not letters nor asteresks!!
    plz help meee

    C:\Users\lord>sqlplus / as sysdba SELECT * V$VERSION;
    SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.3.0 Production
Copyright (c) 1982, 2011, Oracle. All rights reserved.
Use SQL*Plus to execute SQL, PL/SQL and SQL*Plus statements.
    Usage 1: sqlplus -H | -V
-H Displays the SQL*Plus version and the
    usage help.
    -V Displays the SQL*Plus version.
    Usage 2: sqlplus [ [<option>] [{logon | /nolog}] [<start>] ]
    <option> is: [-C <version>] [-L] [-M "<options>"] [-R <level>] [-S]
-C <version> Sets the compatibility of affected commands to the
version specified by <version>. The version has
    the form "x.y[.z]". For example, -C 10.2.0
-L Attempts to log on just once, instead of
    reprompting on error.
-M "<options>" Sets automatic HTML markup of output. The options
    have the form:
HTML ON [HEAD text] [BODY text] [TABLE text]
    [ENTMAP {ON|OFF}] [SPOOL {ON|OFF}] [PRE[FORMAT] ON]
-R <level> Sets restricted mode to disable SQL*Plus commands
that interact with the file system. The level can
    be 1, 2 or 3. The most restrictive is -R 3 which
disables all user commands interacting with the
    file system.
-S Sets silent mode which suppresses the display of
the SQL*Plus banner, prompts, and echoing of
    commands.
    <logon> is: {<username>[<password>][@<connect_identifier>] | / }
    [AS {SYSDBA | SYSOPER | SYSASM}] [EDITION=value]
Specifies the database account username, password and connect
identifier for the database connection. Without a connect
identifier, SQL*Plus connects to the default database.
The AS SYSDBA, AS SYSOPER and AS SYSASM options are database
    administration privileges.
<connect_identifier> can be in the form of Net Service Name
    or Easy Connect.
    @[<net_service_name> | [/]Host[:Port]/<service_name>]
<net_service_name> is a simple name for a service that resolves
    to a connect descriptor.
Example: Connect to database using Net Service Name and the
database net service name is ORCL.
    sqlplus myusername/mypassword@ORCL
Host specifies the host name or IP address of the database
    server computer.
Port specifies the listening port on the database server.
<service_name> specifies the service name of the database you
    want to access.
Example: Connect to database using Easy Connect and the
    Service name is ORCL.
    sqlplus myusername/mypassword@Host/ORCL
The /NOLOG option starts SQL*Plus without connecting to a
    database.
The EDITION specifies the value for Session Edition.
    <start> is: @<URL>|<filename>[.<ext>] [<parameter> ...]
Runs the specified SQL*Plus script from a web server (URL) or the
local file system (filename.ext) with specified parameters that
will be assigned to substitution variables in the script.
When SQL*Plus starts, and after CONNECT commands, the site profile
(e.g. $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/admin/glogin.sql) and the user profile
(e.g. login.sql in the working directory) are run. The files may
    contain SQL*Plus commands.
Refer to the SQL*Plus User's Guide and Reference for more information.

  • UserId/Password Not Given-expected to run SQL Plus

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
I downloaded Oracle 9i and I'm trying to run SQL Plus and its asking me for a userid, password and a host string. I don't know what the userid, password or host string would be. I wanted to see how I like Oracle for a database and just wanted to enter some SQL.
How will I know what the userid, password, host string would be?
    - Server name = none
    - Filename = none
    - Date/Time 2/8/02
    - Browser + Version = Internet Explorer
    - O/S + Version = Windows 20000
    - Error Msg = invalid userid/password

could you please suggest what could be the reasonYou are running Oracle on an unsupported operating system (Vista Home premium). You either need to change the OS or use the package meant for Windows Vista.

  • Username password works in SQL Plus not in SQL Developer

I have SQL Dev 1.2.1. It works fine with some databases, but with two databases with logons managed by Oracle Enterprise User it does not work. I receive an Ora 01017 error invalid username password. The user name and password work fine from SQL Plus and from a third party tool. I have a local developer client environment installed, so am using TNS. SQL Developer was installed before the client environment. I was not trying to access this database before the client environment install. I was using the basic connection before the client install. Neither basic or TNS connection works for this particular database.
    Any ideas?

We have changed the password and it still does not work. There are no special characters in the password.
I am tempted to think the problem is the jdbc driver versions. The logon for Enterprise user controlled databases stopped working after I installed the thick client Oracle developer. I have tried to find the threads with information on disabling the thick client jdbc but have not found them. I also have tried to enter a URL for the thin client without success. One of our DBAs is saying that the 11g clients are broken and he is in communication with Oracle about it. He says 10g works but 11g does not.
Any further help would be appreciated.

  • Sql  plus not accepting user id and password as scott, tiger resp

    Hi, this is mihir shah
    I have just installed oracle9i
And I have a problem in opening the sql plus. It asks for user id and pass but when entered scott, tiger it always gives a tns error.
Could you tell me how to make a database & how to log on & how to make a new user id and password

It seem that you have problem with network connectivity to you database.
Check the listener status and the configuration of the files: tnsnames.ora & listener.ora
In all cases you must specified the error.
