Problem faccing with parameters

Hi All,
I want to create one report and chart based upon given query.But the problem is in my query i have parameter.
I want to dynamic parameter in my report.How to do it.
Example Query:
select  count(*) errors,ah.period_name Period_Name,gd.name Ledger_Name
from    apps.xla_accounting_errors ae,
        apps.fnd_application_tl app,
        apps.xla_ae_headers ah,
        apps.gl_ledgers gd
where ae.application_id = app.application_id
and ae.entity_id = ah.entity_id
and ae.event_id = ah.event_id
and ae.ledger_id = gd.ledger_id
and ae.encoded_msg not like 'There are no eligible transactions to account%'
and ah.period_name like '&PERIOD_NAME'
group by ah.period_name ,gd.name
How to do it.Please explain clearly.
If any documents available please send it to me.
Thanks& Regards,

The report did not ask parameter.
Creating and managing page and application items in APEX—in session state is a very basic technique that is covered in the +2 Day Developer's Guide+.

  • Calling stored procedures with parameters with the Database Connectivity Toolkit

    Hi all,
    I am new to the forum and am having difficulty finding a solution to a particular problem I am having regarding using the LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolkit on a project I am currently working on at my job.  I have a database in which I have tables and stored procedures with parameters.  Some of these stored procedures have input, output, and return parameters.
    I have been trying to follow this example but to no avail:  http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/07FD130746083E0686257300006326C4?OpenDocument
    One such stored procedure I am working on implementing is named "dbo.getAllowablePNs", which executes "SELECT * from DeviceType" (DeviceType is the table).  In this case, it does not require an input parameter, it has an output parameter that generates the table [cluster], and has a return parameter which returns an integer value (execution status code) to show if an error occurred.  The DeviceType table has 3 columns; ID (PK, int, not null), PN (nvarchar(15), null), and NumMACAddresses (int, null).  I have gone over many examples and have talking to NI support to try to implement this and similar stored procedures in LabVIEW but have not been successful.  I am able to connect to the database with the Open Connection VI without error, but am running into some confusion following this step.  I am then trying to use the Create Parameterized Query VI to call the stored procedure and set the parameters.  I assume I would then use the Set Parameter Value VI for each parameter that is wired into the parameters input on the previous Parameterized Query VI?  I am also having some confusion during and following these steps as well.  I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions anyone might have in regards to this situation as I am not a SQL expert.  Also, I would be happy to provide any more information that would be helpful.
    Regards,
    Jon
    Solved!

    Also, I don't know if this would be helpful but here is the actual stored procedure in SQL:
    CREATEPROCEDURE [dbo].[getLastSequenceNumber]
    @p1 nvarchar(10)='WO-00000'
    AS
    BEGIN
    -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from
    -- interfering with SELECT statements.
    SETNOCOUNTON;
    -- Insert statements for procedure here
    selectmax(SequenceNumber)from Devices where WorkOrderNumber= @p1
    END

  • EJB 3.0 - problem reading request parameters

    I'm looking at Spring and TopLink integration and deploying with the EJB 3.0 version. I ran into problems when trying to retrieve a parameter from a request. Since I could not see anything wrong, I deployed with Tomcat and the code executed correctly.
    The simple case below illustrates the problem:
    <%@ page session="false"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/request-1.0" prefix="req" %>
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>PetClinic :: a Spring Framework demonstration</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    The ID parameter is: <req:parameter name="id"/>
    </body>
    </html>
    Running with http://localhost:8080/sto12/welcomeURL.htm?id=foo causes foo to be displayed in Tomcat but not in OC4J EJB 3.0. Why is this?
    Thanks
    Mike

    Sorry, I tried to submit the problem in a simplified form and I can see I've just made it more confusing. Let me try again.
    Spring ships with a Petclinic sample. The Spring Toplink integration work has provided new classes that allow the Petclinic example to be deployed using Toplink as the object relational mapping. I have it running using Tomcat, but have had problems using OC4J EJB 3.0.
    In the sample app, there is a JSP that allows surname to be entered, which then calls code to search for Owners with a match on surname. That code treats no matches, one match and many matches differently.
    In the case of no matches, the JSP simply displays a message saying no matches found. In the case of many matches, it uses another JSP to display a list of Owners, from which the desired one is selected. The selected one is then displayed by a further JSP on which updates can be made. Where only one match with surname is found, the selection JSP is bypassed.
    Behind the scenes when obtaining the list of matching Owners, the Toplink code simply obtains a list. When one is selected, a further Toplink access is used which returns the selected Owner by reading via the primary key selected from the list. The essence of the problem is that there is a single piece of code in the sample that makes the Toplink call to read by primary key. When called in one scenario, it works, in the other it does not.
    Where that code is invoked as a result of the user selecting from a list, it is the JSP POSTing the selected Owner that transmits the primary key to the code. The code obtains the key from the request and everything works fine.
    Where only one Owner is found, a redirect is done with the key added as a parameter. When the same code as above attempts the retrieve the key, it is unable to do so ie it returns null and the subsequent Toplink call fails.
    Since the above obscures the problem, I played around with two of the JSPs provided - welcome.jsp and index.jsp. In the sample, index.jsp is included in the web.xml under <welcome-file-list> and hence is used when the app is started. It simply redirects to welcome.jsp. (I believe the reason is that all requests go via the Spring DispatcherServlet and are forwarded to the appropriate JSP depending on configuration - hence the comment that they are "virtual").
    When I put code in the index.jsp to display an id parameter and start it with an id provided, it displays the id parameter. When I let the index.jsp simply redirect to welcome.jsp (with an id included and welcome.jsp changed to display the value)it does not display the value.
    I'm sorry this has become a long post. The gist seems to be that I can't extract parameters from requests that have been redirected. As I said at the top of this note, this is not the case with Tomcat - I can run the same code there and retrieve parameters from a request, whether it has been redirected or not. I've posted in this forum because I believe the problem is with OC4J not with Spring or Toplink. I could be wrong.
    Any suggestions are very welcome.

  • Calling Stored procedure with Parameters in PowerPivot DataModel

    Hi All,
    I wanted to call a SQL stored procedure from PowerPivot(Excel) on based on changing slicer's value.
    Currently, we can call stored procedure wihtout any parameter from Data Model tab using
    Exec stored_proc_name in Table Properties window.
    What if I want to call the same procedure with a parameter whouse value will come by changing slicer's value. I  meant, changing slicer value will act as a parameter to that stored procedure & it should return updated results.
    Is this possible in PowerPivot?

    Hi Rameshwar,
    According to your description, you call a SQL Server stored procedure in PowerPivot data model, now the problem is that you need to pass a parameter to the stored procedure, right?
    Based on my research, it seems that we cannot achieve this requirement directly in current version of PowerPivot data model. Here is a similar thread for you reference.

  • Web service operation ... with parameters {} cannot be found

    Hi All,
    I am accessing a web service of a web site using ColdFusion.Each time I am calling the web service I am getting the message "Web service operation ... with parameters {} cannot be found".The wsdl file showing the parameter as complex type .So I have passed value to the particular method using structure and xml type each time I gets that error message.I can not post here the wsdl for security reason.
    When I am calling this Web service from .net it is working without any problem. .NET directly creating the objects of the parameter which the method is needed from the wsdl but I don't know whether it is possible in ColdFusion or not.Also I don't know whether the web service in .net or in other language.
    Please suggest something.
    Thanks
    Upen

    Thanks for your response.
    Yes, I have passed all the arguments but it seems the web application is coded in .net and by googling I came to know that if the .net receives a complex type of object then it creates problem when we pass argument from coldfusion.(means type mismatch)
    If you know about it please suggest .

  • JDBC receiver adapter to call MS SQLServer stored procedure with parameters

    We are trying to use the JDBC receiver adapter to call a stored procedure in MS SQLServer with parameters.  According to the help documentation for the JDBC receiver adapter for action=EXECUTE,  "The elements within the stored procedure are interpreted as parameters" and "The parameter names must be identical to those of the stored procedure definition".  The parameters within a MS SQLServer stored procedure are required to begin with the '@' symbol.  The element names within a XML document i.e. used to call the stored procedure can not contain a special character such as '@' in the first position.  For all of the tests we have done where the parameter name in the XML document omits the '@' character, the parameters are not being received by the stored procedure.  Is there a way around this  problem?
    Thank you,
    Harold

    Hello Harold - I am facing the EXACTLY SAME problem.Pls let me know how did you fix this problem ?
    This is the message I am passing on to the DB SP:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

  • Tcp/ip write help - need to send a motor command with parameters

    hello - i have one small, main labview 7.0 vi that i use to control a drill's two motors.
    right now i press a button on the front panel to move the motor, and when i do, a sub vi window pops up so the operator can set a couple of parameters and press an ok button.....the vi then sends the command with the parameters to the drill's motors.
    i am trying to change it so i can send the move command from another computer, in another room, while the main vi sits on the computer with the drill. i know i will use TCP listen, write, read, and close in both the main vi (the TCP server?) and the client which is on the remote computer.
    my problem is with setting the parameters for the subvi's that usually pops up. how do i set the parameters from the remote-client and have them be sent into the subvi on the main vi. if i can do this, i would have to also have a way to close the sub vi after it pops up in the main program too.
    OR should i use something else like and application reference or an invoke node function?????
    please help
    thanks!!!!
    sam

    Hi again,
    If the VI in the lab will be running continuously, then you will need
    to alter some things from the example I sent you or look at an
    alternate implementation. The example I sent you assumed that the VI in
    the lab was not running. This technique actually starts the VI and runs
    it somewhat like a subVI. It inputs values into the connector pane,
    runs it, and then returns values from the outputs on the connector pane
    after it finishes executing. It will not work to call a VI by reference
    if it is already continuously running.
    Instead I imagine you would want to have your VI in the lab have some
    sort of State Machine that polls a certain control value, such as an
    enum control, to determine which state to execute next. You could
    modify the technique I first sent to still open a reference to the VI
    in the lab, but it wouldn't try to run it. Instead you could use the VI
    method Set Control Value to set the value of a certain control or
    controls in the lab VI to certain values. The VI in the lab would then
    hopefully be in some Idle state where it polled one of those control
    values continuously to decide what to do next. That would allow the VI
    in the office to programmatically send commands to the other VI, as
    well as parameters for those commands. Simply set control values for
    the VI in the lab and let the VI in the lab go about its business. I've
    attached an example below.
    That's just one idea. Other options you have would be to use a
    DataSocket connection to send parameters and commands back and forth
    between computers. This is a pretty simple API to use. If you have
    LabVIEW 8, Shared Variables are an option. Or you might look into
    simply using Remote Front panels, which allows you to connect to a VIs
    Front Panel across the network. You could then have the whole VI in the
    Lab, but you could connect to it, view it, modify the controls and so
    on from your office. If you want to view and control a VI without
    having LabVIEW installed on the viewing computer, you can use the Web
    Publishing Tool to create a web interface for your front panel. Lots of
    options. Let me know what sounds interesting.

    We've seen this bug on machines running IE6 with a certain security patch (I forget its number). There's a thread in the Metalink reports forum about it. It appears to be somewhat tied to another problem where IE runs the report twice (you can see that in Showjobs. You're seeing the problem in 6i; I believe it persists in 9i.
    The workarounds are (1) set Acrobat so it doesn't open within IE or (2) switch to a different browser, like Netscape. For workaround 1, Start Acrobat Reader, Choose File -> Preferences -> General, Uncheck Web Browser Integration
    There's some evidence that it occurs more often with urls that include single quote characters. I think it's worse with XP, but I don't have any proof.
    If you check Adobe's site, you will see this isn't just an Oracle Reports problem. I think we're waiting for Microsoft on this one, so don't hold your breath for a quick fix.

  • Problem in passing parameters in command line in desktop

    Hi,
    I am trying to generate reports from command line (Oracle Discoverer 4i Version 4.1.42.04.00) but I am facing problems when I try to pass date or numeric parameters. It seems to work with strings
    The following command is successful when i pass string as parameters
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect reports/reports@orcl /opendb load_report_1 /batch /sheet 2 /parameter "P Date" "31-JUL-2006 Month End" /export xls c:\Temp\load_report_!
    But in the following commands the command line execution stops when a worksheet with parameters is encountered. Once then parameter is entered the command line is executed successfully. In these problem cases it seems like the /parameter option is not being recognized. I have tried to pass parameters with double quotes, single quotes, without any quotes.
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect reports/reports@orcl /opendb "load report 2" /sheet 3 /parameter "Select P Day" "20-JUN-2006" /batch /export xls c:\Temp\load_Report_2
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect reports/reports@orcl /opendb "load report 3" /batch /sheet 1 /parameter "Enter Date Using Format YYYYMMDD" 20060703 /export xls c:\Temp\load_report_3
    The only difference I can see is that I have not used double quotes in the command line that is successful in generating reports with parameters.
    Any inputs will be appreciated - we are stuck in our project due to this issue. Many thanks.
    Warm regards
    Sucharita

    Hi
    I work in the same team as the original poster.
    We tried by changing NLS_DATE_FORMAT for the oracle_home.
    Just to clarify our issue I am describing it one more time below -
    Using Disc desktop (4.1.42) we are trying to run the reports using command line interface. Any report that takes character input for the parameters ,is running fine in the batch mode without prompting.
    Any report that takes Date/Numeric input for the parameters, though in batch mode, is prompting for user to give the parameters.We tried with quotes as well.
    For Example -
    1. Character input : when we run this command supplying the input parameter values (which are characters), report runs fine without prompting for values.
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect rep/rep@orals /opendb Schd_Report /batch /sheet 2 /parameter "Process Date" "31-JUL-2006 Month End" /export xls c:\audit_report_5
    2. Date Input -
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect rep/rep@orals /opendb "DLS.Arrears Reports" /batch /sheet 1 /parameter "Please Enter Date Using Format YYYYMMDD" 20060703 /export xls c:\CA_arr
    When we submit this we get a window prompting for the input values. So his is the issue.
    Thanks

  • Calling portal v2 pages with parameters in a jsp

         Hello everybody,
         I'm currently trying to create, in a jsp, a link to a portal-v2 page with parameters.
    Practically :
    [JSP / Portlet 1]
         - a 1st jsp generates some links, all to the same page but each sets a different value to a parameter (for example a productId in a list).
    [JSP / Portlet 2]
         - a 2nd jsp gets this parameter and use it (for example it displays the details of the chosen product).
    So the 1st portlet would be jsp (coded by a portlet designer) and clicking a link would lead to another page (chosen by a page designer) which would hold the 2nd portlet (= 2nd jsp, coded by the same portlet designer).
         Writing the second jsp is easy : getting parameters is described in many examples and pdk articles.
         But I can't find the java methods to use to generate the link. More precisely I don't know how to call the portal page (which would then be a jsp1's parameter). Adding the parameter is well described in the jpdk API-Doc.
         I've tried to use portal events but they seem to work only in an html form. So I supposed it was a wrong way.
    As I've lost myself so many times in the API-Doc and I didn't find any jpdk sample about that, I would be really thankfull if someone has an idea (may I hope for a sample code ? :-)
    Thanks.
    Jean-Roch

    I'm having a similar problem!
    I have a JSP page which I have published as a portlet to Portal. The JSP portlet is placed on Portal a page. I need to call this Portal page with some parameters in the URL, which should get passed to the JSP portlet.
    In the JSP portlet I used this syntax in release 1 to retrieve the URL parameters:
    String p_itemID = request.getParameter("item_id");
    That worked great in release 1, but not in release 2.... I think the problem is that you need to define which parameters a portlet has, then map those portlet parameters to page parameters in the page properties. In dynamic page - portlets you define bind variables to accomplish this. But how do you do in JSP portlets? When you try to map Page Parameters to the JSP portlet you'll find that Portal doesn't think that the JSP portlet has any parameters. Hence the page parameters does not get passed to the portlet.
    (More info: JDBC----getImportedKeys() )
    I've looked at the Multipage example and the forminput example. But I don't see how pass a parameter in the URL to the very first JSP portlet from looking at those examples. I do see how you can pass parameters to the next JSP portlet, but that's not my problem. Maybe I'm missing something obvious...
    Any ideas?

  • Chart with parameters in SSRS 2012

    Hello,
      I want to do a chart (line chart particularly, but I will take an answer for any chart as they all probably work similarly) with one parameter passed (hospitalid) and two values returned (BedDays and MonthYear).  MonthYear is how the horizontal
    line is divided, by each month, and the BedDays should be the number of patient stays in beds in that month.  Doesn't matter if it's sum of bed days or bed days, because a sum is made in the stored procedure, and MonthYear is unique.
      I have spend a few days on this problem, working a lot on it, and I keep running into errors, trying various methods.  I don't know where all my errors could be coming from, it could be in the aspx, it could be in the report design, or it could
    be in the code behind, so I am hoping someone can give me a step by step solution to this problem which should be simple, but apparently is not because there is no worthwhile help that I can find on the internet.  It should work for SSRS 2012, I do not
    have a choice of using an earlier version for this project.  Please include everything I need to do in the report GUI, in the aspx file, and in the code behind, as any little error in any of these could keep this from working and make it very difficult
    for me to pinpoint what is going wrong.
      Please help!

    I'm using Visual Studio 2013.  According to what I read, there is no report preview in newer versions?
    I created a report and then added a line chart.
    I used my connection and under Data Set Name I put: AllevantReportDataSetB
    Under Choose the Dataset, I selected AllevantReportDataSetB as the data source.
    For "Name" I chose DataSetB
    The stored procedure works (that is all you need to know, because the inner detail shouldn't make a difference), and when a parameter @facilityid is passed to it, it returns a table with the first column named MonthYear which is a date of all of the months,
    years, and the first of each month from the beginning to end of the data - and the second column is BedDays, the number of total stays in a bed for all of the patients at the facility.
    In Category groups, I have MonthYear, and in Values I have BedDays (actually [Sum(BedDays)], but the sum shouldn't matter, because the MonthYears are unique so there is only one MonthYear, there is not more than one of the same month in the whole data set)
    My .aspx is the following:

    </rsweb:ReportViewer>
    And my VB code behind is the following:

    Dim Conn As New SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("sql").ToString)
    Dim Command As New SqlCommand("BedDays", Conn)
    Dim BedDaysDataTable As New DataTable()
    BedDaysDataTable.Columns.Add("MonthYear", GetType(DateTime))
    BedDaysDataTable.Columns.Add("BedDays", GetType(Int32))
    Command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
    Command.Parameters.Add("@facID", SqlDbType.Int).Value = 20
    Command.Connection = Conn
    Conn.Open()
    Dim DataReader As SqlDataReader = Command.ExecuteReader()
    BedDaysDataTable.Load(DataReader)
    Conn.Close()
    Return BedDaysDataTable
    End Function
    Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
    If Not IsPostBack Then
    FillMetricsDDL()
    FillFacilityDDL()
    Dim rds As ReportDataSource
    rds = New ReportDataSource("Report1DataSource", GetReportDataTable)
    Dim ReportParameters As New List(Of ReportParameter)
    ReportParameters.Add(New ReportParameter("@facID", 20))
    ReportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(rds)
    ReportViewer1.LocalReport.ReportPath = "Report5.rdlc"
    ReportViewer1.LocalReport.Refresh()
    End If
    Common.Chosen(Me)
    End Sub
      I am getting the error where the report should be
    Unable to connect to the remote server, no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
    But I suppose once this error is resolved, there will be more, because I really do not quite know exactly how SSRS charts with parameters in SSRS 2012 are suppossed to work, in code behind, in aspx, and in the charting, and how it all ties together.  So
    some complete guidance to show ALL the places where I am going wrong here would be much appreciated, not just an attempt to solve the one error I have above, which may not be the sum total of all of my problems here.
    Unless, of course, it IS the only error which would be GREAT.

    Hello together,
    I have written an application which is stored on a network. People from different computer start it to work with it. Now I have the problem, that I need some different configurations on each computer.
    Is it possible to start a labview application with parameters, like: application.exe -User_1
    The application should check the parametes and should switch to the needed configuration.
    Thanks a lot and best regards,
    Michael
    Solved!

    Hi Michael,
    yes it is possible. First you have to activate the data transfer of your parameters. You can do it in the application builder. It is something like "send command line parameters to exe" which you have to activate. You will get the parameter in your program with the property "App.Args". It is an array with the exe name as the first element and one entry for each additional linked parameter.
    Hope it helps.

    After the migration Oracle Forms from version 6i to 10g by calling the form with parameters the error FRM-92101 occurs. In Application Server log shows the following:

    Please help me if anybody has this problem before.
    Sergey

    Hi Sergei,
    I've just finished a three day search for a FRM-92101problem, so I want to post my case, just in case it helps someone.
    My case is similar to yours, in that you have a Forms 6i form migrated to 10g and deployed on Linux, although my problem was "very" specific, and thus very hard to find, this might give you some light.
    I had a visual attribute that defined the property "Fill Pattern" as "none" applied to a canvas, and it deployed without any problem on 10gR2/Windows, but when deployed on Linux (10gR2/SUSE 9) it would abort the application getting a FRM-92101.
    The solution in this case was just changing "none" to "Transparent".
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Miguel.

  • Unable to debug procedure with parameters

    I have created following dummy procedure to reproduce my problem
    create or replace
    procedure dummy_proc (p_no number, p_name varchar2)
    is
    v_date date;
    begin
    select sysdate into v_date from dual;
    end;
    I am following these steps for debugging
    1. Open procedure in edit mode
    2. Compile it for debug with an icon “compile for debug”
    3. Add breakpoint on select.
    4. Click on lady bug icon to start debugging.
    5. Parameter window pop-up with following pop-up error message i.e.
    An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
    Fail to convert to internal representation
    Vendor code *17059*
    What I understand about problem is:
    It is related to data type conversion of parameters. When Oracle SQL Developer tries to create anonymous PL/SQL block for debugging any procedure with parameters it does not able to translate parameters data types properly. I have checked Tool--> Preferences -- > Debugger but did not find any help. Any one who could able to solve this issue?

    Dear K,
    What I understand from your reply is. This is not Oracle SQL Developer issue is this issue with Oracle configuration?
    Tell me would you able to debug procedures with parameters? Parameter window would successfully generate anonymous pl/sql block with correct data type translation?
    I have noticed one more thing kindly see this might give you any clue to solve my issue.
    DECLARE
    v_Return UNKOWN TYPE;
    BEGIN
    v_Return := db_dummy_pkg.set_dummy_date();
    -- Modify the code to output the variable
    -- DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('v_Return = ' || v_Return);
    END;
    This PL/SQL block is generated by OSD for a procedure, not function, without parameters. I have to edit it like following to move on with debugging.
    BEGIN
    db_dummy_pkg.set_dummy_date();
    END;
    It means Oracle SQL Developer might not configure to understand data types like number, varchar2 in debugging mode only. Kindly see above bold text
    kind regards,
    Vitality
