Problem in Append Option at Receiver File Adapter

Hi all,
Iam doing Idoc---File scenario and doing FCC at receiver side.
Iam using Shared Folder ( '
sapdevxi\Files\XI_TEST\ ) to drop the files at receiver end. and set the File construction mode as APPEND
I send one Idoc and created file at taregt Directory, now file is still there in target directory.
now i sent 2nd Idoc , this time it should be append to the already existing file.
But it is saying the error in Communication channel monitoring
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Target file '
sapdevxi\Files\XI_TEST\item.txt' already exists and must not be overwritten
Please suggest me

Iam droping the files on to my DEVXI Server itself, it is on Windows 2003 Server.

In Order to Append the files do the following. It worked in my case.
>change the file creation mode to create and select the check box for overwriting the file
>After selecting the check box change the file creation mode to Append.
You should be able to append the files now. Please award points if it works.

"Put file" Option in Receiver File Adapter

Hi All,
Even though this seems to be a basic Question, i didn't found any answer to this in SDN.
Please share your thoughts on this.
We have one option called Put file in the receiver file adapter, When i read the use of this option i found some thing on SAP help.
But i am not clear about that option, if any one can clear that, it would be great.

Put file is put the file directle in the receiver file path.
there are 2 options for put file
1. Directly    2. Use Temporary File.
Directly:   Directly will directly place the file in specified folder. In some cases ur file is large then this option wont work.
Use Temporary File:    In some cases u want to wait more time to create output file then the sepecified poll interval.In that cases in file is read some data and saved in a temporary file, after reading or completion of whole file then only only it will place the file in speficied server path.

Receiver File Adapter - XML

I have configured a receiver file adapter to send an XML message to a file directory.
The structure is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <ns0:MT_SiteDetails_MM xmlns:ns0="urn:Retail.net:SiteDetails">
- <ROWSET>
- <ROW>
<ext_cust_id>0003009996</ext_cust_id>
</ROW>
</ROWSET>
</ns0:MT_SiteDetails_MM>
How do I get the line - <ns0:MT_SiteDetails_MM xmlns:ns0="urn:Retail.net:SiteDetails">
out of the message. Is it possible.
Can I use file content conversion.
any help is appreciated.

If i understand it correctly, you need to send X.XML to some directory you configured and you want to do something with <ns0:MT_SiteDetails_MM xmlns:ns0="urn:Retail.net:SiteDetails">.. If i am right, you can use Run OS command after processing option at receiver file adapter.
Write one Shell script and do whatever you want to do with this file. Remove line, add something or anything.

File conversion and append file in receiver file adapter

I have a batch IDoc -> XI(3.0) -> file scenario with file conversion to create a flat CSV-like file. The problem is that because of the amount of data sent from R/3 (~20000 employees), the idoc is split into several idocs. In my receiver file adapter I want to append all the idocs contained in this data transfer to one flat file, before transmitting to FTP server.
For the next batch transfer (the next day) XI should start all over and create a new file and append all idocs contained in that transfer before transmitting the flat file to FTP server.
Can this be done using the 'Use Temporary File' and 'Append' options in the FTP connection Parameters in the comm-channel?
It is not an option to append the file in the FTP-server, because the files in the destination folder are moved immediately after arrival, so the file will be moved before file adapter can append all the files.
Does anyone have any suggestions to how to solve this?

Problem with fixedlenthgs in receiver file adapter

HI,
I am doing XML to flat file scenario and using mutli mapping concept without BPM.
in the receiver file adapter I am using FCC with fixedlengths,then it generated just 3 output files out of nearly 100 source files.the errored one are succcessful in the SXMB_MONI and failing in RWB-->Message moni with waiting status and MDT says that XI_J2EE_ADAPTER_FILE ,Error Code PROCESSING_ERROR .
i tried in SDN and then found something like enable the disablesecurity check box in variable substitution parameters ,then I got 4 files out.
these are my FCC params for all structures:
struc1.fieldFixedLengths
struc1.fixedLengthTooShortHandling
struc1.endSeparator
and I tried with fieldSeparator then it gives successfully all output files.
so,where is the problem?I didnt understand?
any suggestion.

I felt the same way,but assumed that ,in that way fixedlenghths wont work.
in my target structure most of the fields have 0-1 occurences ,and even in the source structure too.so,I think it might be the reason.Then I have to make all my about 60fields 1-1 madatory and using mapWithDefaultValue function, as my sources are optional.
you think it will work just using the "mapWithDefaultValue" function without changing my occurences to 1-1 in the target structure(mandatory)?infact I can try but ,cos of pain for changing like 60 fields....:) and even dont know which fields are causing the problem,so that we can apply "mapWithDefaultValue" function only on those fields.

Receiver File Adapter Content Conversion Problem.

Hi All,
I am getting in receiver file adapter due to content conversion setting. Problem is that all the fields coming in file adapter are optional. In content conversion , i have specified fieldfixedlengths. So whenever any optional field is not present , it fails . How should we handle it? is there any option to declare fields as optional, I know that is the there for sender adapter. But no. of fields is also very large, so putting each and every field as optional is very time consuming.
What should i do?

Instead of using the standard funciton , i created a UDF for handling this situation.
My logic is UDF is like

SO in this case also , it should be able to handle empy source element. But it is not working.

Problem with file content conversion in receiver file adapter

I have a problem with file content conversion in receiver file adapter.
This is my recordset structure: Header_Record,1,Claim_Record,*,Check_Rec,1
These are the content conversion parameters:
Header_Record.fieldSeparator = ,
Header_Record.endSeparator = 'nl'
Claim_Record.fieldSeparator = ,
Claim_Record.endSeparator = 'nl'
Check_Rec.fieldSeparator = ,
Check_Rec.endSeparator = 'nl'
In SXMB_MONI, i can see that the data is correctly extracted from proxy, and correctly mapped to receiver message, and i see a checkered flag (success).
But, Adapter status is RED with the following error message:
Conversion initialization failed: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: Error(s) in XML conversion parameters found: Parameter '1.fieldFixedLengths' or '1.fieldSeparator' is missing
In communication channel monitoring, i get the following error message:
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Channel has not been correctly initialized and cannot process messages
What is going wrong here? Can anyone please tell me?

Problem: The same filename from a sender to a receiver file adapter - SP14

My Problem:
The thing works for me and i am able to get my input files name as my output file name. But one thing i noticed is that in my target message, the field where i have mapped the code it always returns the value "null" but finally when the file is created i get the required result.
My input file name is input.txt and i get the same name in my output file too.
In sxmb_moni if i check DynamicConfiguration link i see the following

Hi All,
i want to append data into the same file in the receiver file Adapter.
for Example ..I have given XYX a file name in the target directory ..for the first execration it puts the data in to the file..
for the Next execution its not appending data to that file..
the Requirement is
for the first time XYX has data 1234
for the next time XYZ need to add
1234 and below this the next data must come
2345 like this
how can i archive this in receiver file adapter,?

Problem in Overwriting the file in Receiver File adapter

Hi all,
I configured my scenario Proxy to File. Every day the back ground job runs in SAP and send all Employee Details to XI, XI then write it into File in XI server, in Receiver File adapter i enable overwrite existing file.
But some times its over writing the file some times came up with error like "Access Denied".
Can any one tell me what could be the problem.

This can be a Authorization problem...may be at that time you are unable to write any file in that directory..or some other application is using it and it make a lock at that time.

Problem with File Content Conversion (Receiver FIle Adapter)

I have following structure in receiver side:
MT_Test
 F1
 F2
 F3
 F4
Now I want a CSV file in target side in below format:
F1,F2,F3,F4
I have provided below config in receiver file adapter under content conversion tab:
Recordset Structure : MT_Test
MT_Test.fieldSeperator= ,
MT_Test.endSeperator= 'nl'
But this is generating blank CSV files in target directory..What might be the reason.. I have checked the msg in adapter engine, the XML file is correct and contains valid values for the fields..Its something like below:

<MT_Test>
 <F1>Hai</F1>
 <F2>Hello</F2>
 <F3>Bye</F3>
 <F4>Hi</F4>

I should get CSV file as

So, try to edit Data type and include hierarchy level above <F1>.
Finally your Target Structure will resembles like this.

File Conversion error in Receiver File Adapter

Hi ,
I am facing the below error in receiver file adapter .
Conversion initialization failed: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "4|8|10|2|10|4|10|4|40|40|40|1|20|2|20|8|40|0|12|12|12|1|12|4|4|8|40|8|8|8|8|12|40|8|10|10|10|10|10|1|10"

Check it - File adapter is active ? try to Re-activate the same.
Also do CPACache Refresh.
Still problem, tyr out by restarting the Adapter Engine.
I guess you're just trying to send all the data in your file record to a <data> element as a whole. If so, this blog will help you:
Configuring Generic Sender File CC Adapter
Under certain operating system platforms, such as Solaris, the APIs used by the Java Runtime (JRE) are not Unicode-aware. Consequently, the JRE needs to be configured to correctly interpret the character set it receives from the operating system.
This is configured through the "file.encoding" system property as well as the "LANG" environment variable.
Make sure you set "file.encoding" to a character set (such as ISO-8859-1) that supports the special characters you would like to process. This system property can be configured by appending "-Dfile.encoding=<encoding>" to the Java VM parameters section of the SAP J2EE Config Tool.
Additionally, you need to set the "LANG" environment variable to a locale that supports more than 7 bits, such as "de.ISO8859-1". The encoding you specify in the LANG environment variable needs to match the encoding set via "file.encoding".
You can persistently configure the environment variable by setting it in the profile $HOME/.sapenv_$HOSTNAME.csh of the <sid>adm user: setenv LANG de.ISO8859-1

Email attachment name in sender mail adapter to the receiver file adapter

HI ,
Ths is regarding email to file scenario. I am trying to create file (in rceiver file adapter) with the same name as the email attachment that i read from mail sender adapter. I want ro use adapter module for this. I could find from blogs that there is module - GetAttachmentName - available that i can use for this in sender mail adapter.
Can you please let me know what whetehr i neeed to mention any module key and parameters for this.
I assume , i need to do following steps :Please confirm.
1. i can use this module - after payload swap module and before standard mail adapter module in sender mail adapter
2. select ASMA option in advanced tab in sender mail adapter
3. In receiver file adapter select ASMA option in advanced tab in sender mail adapter
4. Also select file name option in ASMA in sender mail adapter

If you use the Module getAttachmentName, which is described here,

your scenario should work as you described it.
You just need to make sure that the Attachment Name that you read in the first place, is mapped to the Filename Attribute of the
Fileadapter (http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File/FileName).
