Problem in creating an array of  TextFields

Hello
I had initially created 10 Textfields directly without using arrays and got them displayed. Now I thought of using arrays and tried but nothing is being displayed. I am not able to understand what the problem is. If I use arrays, my task would be be cut down by a great deal.
The code I used is.
JTextField textField[] = new JTextField[10];
And later on in the method, I added :
myPanel.add(textField[i] using for statement.
Thank you

you only created the array, you also will have to create eacht textfield.

  • Problem in creating dynamic array field.

    Hi there,
    Following are the steps we followed to dynamically build the array field.
    1) Single column array field created with a single widget in the design time.
    2) Few more columns were added using 'Addcolumn' method.
    3) Data in the array object mapped to the array field is populated.
    4) All the dynamic field state was set to FS_UPDATE.
    5) Used Updatefieldfromdata method in all levels ( window, compound field, field widget).
    Problem faced
    1) Data is not visible in the dynamic fields created. But the data is visible in the field created during design time.
    Appreciate, if given any solution for this.
    Regards,
    Anand.

    if you don't see your text, you're not embedding the font.
    when you use actionscript to embed a font, you need to have the font in your library with a linkage id, create a textformat instance and assign its font property and finally assign the textformat to your textfield.  for example
    _root.createTextField("txt",_root.getNextHighestDepth(),50,50,50,50);
    _root.txt.embedFonts=true;
    _root.txt.text="hello";
    _root.txt._rotation=20;
    var tfor:TextFormat=new TextFormat();
    tfor.font="yourfontslinkageid";  // <- linkage id of font in your library
    _root.txt.setTextFormat(tfor);

  • Event Handling in an Array of TextField

    I have created an array of textfields (say t[0],t[1],t[2],....) and want to implement the FocusListener Interface.
    I want to use the method focusLost() to get the name of the textfield in the form t[x] whenever the event occurs in the field.
    Can I do it? if yes, how?
    p.s.- getting back the array index is most important.

    I think it's possible.
    Extend the TextField class. Add 2 new methods, setID() and getID() and a new int field named ID. Change your code so that the array of TextFields is an array of your new class. When you construct the class, set the value of ID to be the same as the index.
    In the focusLost() method, use getSource() of the FocusEvent to get the Object that generated the event and cast that Object to the new class. Use the getID() method to get the index.
    I can think of other ways that use a similar approach.
    A different approach would not require extending TextField. Use getSource() to get a reference to the textfield and loop thru the textfield array comparing the reference to the array element until you have a match.

  • How to display an Array of ints in an Array of TextFields

    I'm trying to create an array of textfield's, and then create an array of ints and display one of those ints in each textfield. Can anyone please help me?

    Yea after you create the array of textfields and ints, do a for loop with textfield.length limit.
    for(int i = 0; i < textfield.length; i++){
    look in the JTextField API for how to put int into
    a text. I know, but if this is for a class, you have
    figure it out. (You might have to use the Integer object to convert it to a string
    I hope this helps. If you still can't get it, post some code and I'm sure someone will help you through it.

  • Problems creating an array and mixing them up

    I am trying to create an array (1-35), mix that array and display the results with a trace. I am getting an error withthe following code.

    generateArray(35) and that trace() must be inside a method (or methods).  for example,

  • Create Object Array

    I am trying to do a simple task that I thought would be very easy and quick to do but I have run into problems
    I am trying to get the user to input a number and based on that number make a text field to become visible based on it. So if the user input 3 the first 3 textfields would become visible. I have 10 textfields and I don't need any error handling yet as I can do that later but this is my code:
    var x=NumericField1.rawValue;
    for(var i=0; i<=x; i++)
    TextField1[i].presence="visible";
    I think my problem is creating the object array as all I did was double clicked in the library to create the textfields and the names come up as TextField1 then in the grey shaded area right beside it is the number 0. The next one is called TextField1 with 1 greyed out beside it.
    Can anyone help me out?
    Thanks

    SO IF YOU TRY IN JAVASCRIPT THIS WON'T WORK SO DO THIS IN "FORMCALC"
    i=NUMIRICFIELD.RAWVALUE;
    TextField1[i].presence="visible";
    PLEASE DO THIS IN FORMCALC &FEEDBACK ME

  • How do you create an array without using a shell on the FP?

    I want to be able to read the status of front panel controls (value, control box selection, etc.) and save it to a file, as a "configuration" file -- then be able to load it and have all the controls set to the same states as were saved in the file. I was thinking an array would be a way to do this, as I have done that in VB. (Saving it as a text file, then reading lines back into the array when the file is read and point the control(s) values/states to the corresponding array element.
    So how do I create an array of X dimensions without using a shell on the front panel? Or can someone suggest a better way to accomplish what I am after? (Datalogging doesn't allow for saving the status by a filename, so I
    do not want to go that route.)

    Thanks so much m3nth! This definitely looks like what I was wanting... just not really knowing how to get there.
    I'm not sure I follow all the icons. Is that an array (top left with 0 constant) in the top example? And if so, that gets back to part of my original question of how to create an array without using a shell on the FP. Do I follow your diagram correctly?
    If I seem a tad green... well I am.
    I hope you understand the LabVIEW environment and icons are still very new to me.
    Also, I had a response from an NI app. engineer about this problem. He sent me a couple of VI's that he threw together approaching this by using Keys. (I still think you are pointing to the best solution.) I assume he wouldn't mind m
    e posting his reply and the VI's for the sake of a good, thorough, Roundtable discussion. So here are his comments with VI's attached:
    "I was implementing this exact functionality this morning for an application I'm working on. I only have five controls I want to save, but they are all of different data types. I simply wrote a key for each control, and read back that key on initialization. I simply passed in property node values to the save VI at the end, and passed the values out to property nodes at
    the beginning. I've attached my initialize and save VI's for you to view. If you have so many controls that this would not be feasible, you may want to look into clustering the controls and saving the cluster as a datalog file.

  • How to create an array in if/else or case structure without 0's ?

    Hello,
    I've been trying to do this for a while now.
    I only managed to think of this in three ways:
    1. (What I'm doing right now Create the array by going through a for loop, which populates the array by auto indexing. It populates with correct number if true and with a '0' if false. The idea was to delete the 0's later on in the code. This however seems highly ineffective.
    2. Make use of a shift register, which automatically adds the correct number to an array. The problem is that the array will keep growing and growing and at the very least would tremendously slow down my program. At worst, it would crash.
    So, my question is: How do I create an array that if a comparison is true, it puts the element in and if not it does nothing ?
    I've attached a PNG snippet of my code.
    Kind Regards,
    David.

    You did not explain what "this" is. Can you give some typical inputs and expected outputs? Populate your controls and indicators with typical data and make it the default efore attaching.

    Your code show three different comparisons. Which one are you talking about.
    Pladio wrote:

    That code makes very little sense. Why is there a shift register if the data in it never changes? What is the purpose of the inner FOR loop? Why are you creating a 2D array?
    Do you want to remove all rows where the corersponding SD is zero, for example?

  • Formatted .data file, reading in and creating an array of objects from data

    Hi there, I have written a text file with the following format;
    List of random personal data: length 100
    1 : Atg : Age 27 : Income 70000
    2 : Dho : Age 57 : Income 110000
    3 : Lid : Age 40 : Income 460000
    4 : Wgeecnce : Age 43 : Income 370000
    and so on.
    These three pieces of data, Name,Age and Income were all generated randomly to be stored in an array of objects of class Person.
    Now what I must do is , read in this very file and re-create the array of objects that they were initially written from.
    I'm totally lost on how to go about doing this, I have only been learning java for the last month so anyone that can lend me a hand, that would be superb!
    Cheers!

    Looking at you other thread, you are able to create the code needed - so what's the problem?
    Here's an (not the only) approach:
    Create an array of the necessary length to hold the 3 variables, or, if you don't know the length of the file, create a class to contain the data. Then create an ArrayList to hold an instance of the class..
    Use the Scanner class to read and parse the file contents into the appropriate variables.
    Add each variable to either the array, or to an instance of the class and add that instance to the arraylist.

  • How to create an array with controls and indicators?

    I want to create a scrollable array of control/indicator pairs from a config file.  Something that looks like the attached image.  Of course, I can only create an array that's either either a control or indicator -- not both (the operator should not be able to edit the name or change the state of the LED).  So I guess I need to split the array and have two side-by-side and SOMEHOW link the scrollbars.  But then I have no idea how I can get the control switch states from the array.  Is there an easier way to do what I'm trying to do?

    Hello,
    Another option would be to use the custom control I built for you, see below.  You can just drop this into an array, it should look like your example (more or less).

  • How to create an array of a cluster?

    Hello!
    Now we need some help or tip again :-) We have an array of strings coming out from a for-loop. We want to pick this array in peaces and get the string-elements out. These elements we want to get into a cluster together with boolean constant. Of this cluster we then want to create an array. The problem is that we do not know how to overcome the trouble with data-types and for-loopes... *scratching our head...* Anyone? Thank you

    Hello Ex-jobb,
    have a look at my example. I included a second way to build your array of cluster.
    The string generation at the left of the diagram is to simulate your text file reading, it also gives you an array of strings.
    This array is in the upper part converted by using autoindexing of an for-loop. In the lower part I used just an "Index Array" with
    "Build cluster" and "build array".
    Hope this helps,

  • How to create a array with variables dimensions?

    I try to create a array like that:
    Object[][] data;
    data = new Object[] [];
    But that's doesn't work!
    Apparently I must specify the dimension of my array
    So I have done like that :
    Object[][] data;
    data = new Object[3] [3];
    And that work!
    But the problem is when I need to add extra elements to my array.
    If I write :
    data[4][1] = "123";
    I have the error message :
    java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException
    So, how can I defined a array with variables dimensions OR how can I add a dimension to a array?

    if you have:
    Object[][] data;
    data = new Object[3] [3];you end yo getting ArrayIndexOutOfBoundException if you try to point to some other Indexes. You can increase the size by doing new:
    Object[][] data;
    data = new Object[4] [3];and then copy the old Arrays to this one... this is heavy.
    Other thing to consider then is using some other datastructure, such as Vector, which grows along you add elements to it.

  • What is the best way to create diagonal array in order to avoid MEMORY IS FULL error created by using INITIALIZE ARRAY vi?

    Using the values in a 1D array, I need to place them along the diagonal of a 2D array.
