Problem in inbuilt Web-camera using JMF

Hi,
I am using JavaTM Media Framework 2.1.1e downloaded from below link in my application.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javasebusiness/downloads/java-archive-downloads-java-client-419417.html#7372-jmf-2.1.1e-oth-JPR .
Main functionality of my app is to use Web-camera.
My application is working fine on Windows XP and Windows 7 using external Web-Cam device.
However, the same application is giving problem in accessing in-built Webcam on Windows 7.
I tried to access in-built Web-Camera from JMStudio app(of JMF..File->Capture->check 'Use video device'-> Press 'Ok'), however JMStudio itself is not able to access in-built web-camera. Always I am getting the error 'Couldn't initialize the Capture Device!'.
Please note that JMF Registry Editor(JMStudio->Preferences->Capture Device->Detect Capture Devices')is able to detect the inbuilt web-cam device.
Is this the issue in JMF itself or I can resolve the issue from my application also?
Also, when I tried to do online JMF diagnostics, I am getting below error.
Online JMFDiagnostics URL: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/jmfdiagnostics-139189.html

Well, I don't know if the JMF Studio works on a 64-bit system, but the base java libraries work just as well as on a 32-bit system. I currently use both Windows 7 64-bit and 32-bit version, and I am able to recognize all of my audio input devices.JMF wraps around and makes use of a bunch of native interfaces, all of which are precompiled for 32-bit systems. As such, anything relying upon those 32-bit libraries will not work, and that cuts the functionality down to, essentially, the cross-platform pack stuff.
JMF's sound infastructure is mostly a wrapper around JavaSound, so as long as JavaSound is working on the JRE, you'll be able to utilize the audio functionality.
As for device detection, I know at least some of that is native code. I'm not 100% sure, but I'd almost expect the Windows performance pack to never return any devices on a 64-bit system, but the cross-platform back to return audio devices. This is an assumption, but, that's what I would expect.
In any case, if you're using the Windows performance pack, you'd most likely get better results by switching to the cross-platform pack.

  • Satellite T130: inbuilt web camera has stopped working

    Hi, I have the same problem of the question bellow, like I have looked around and I was not able to find the answer I need.
    I have a Satellite T130 and, suddenly, the inbuilt web camera has stopped working properly. A blue light is on, but there is no image. What can I do?
    Thank you

    Hi,
    the blue light is beside the web cam, on the top of screen. But this light is on when I try to use the web cam in anywhere, like Skype, Msn or even in programs in the computer that only take a pictue or make a video of you, without ineternet (I do not know the name of this program). But it seems that computer and the programs recognize the web cam, because there is no messages when I turn on the web cam.
    In Skype settings is the same, there is nothing wrong, there is no different message. The only thing is when I try to take picture a message appears: "failed", but the video seems to record normally, although everythng is black.
    Could you understand what I meant?
    Sorry about my english....

    How to connect to Digital Camera using JMF?
    Any example?
    thx

    If the DC has a mode that works like a web cam, and can generate either a VFW or DirecShow stream, then you could capture a frame of the stream, yes.

    PwmBoat,
    This made me smile, because things like this do make me smile...  I never make videos on YouCam, but I did this time, so I could test this one out.
    You did not say what webcam software you are using...
    ======================================================================
     Video and audio recording works on YouCam V3.5.1.4606
    Make sure you have turned on a working microphone in Settings:
    YouCam > Right-Side   Settings >
    Right-Side, Lower-Right, Select a working Microphone from the Drop down list
    AND
    CHECK "Capture with audio"
    OK
    You can also buy (for $38 US) YouCam 5.0 from the Cyberlink.com website and it has audio/video and all sorts of other goodies, too.  (They have 3.x as well, but why buy what HP already gives you?)

  • How to use same web cams with jmf?

    Hello, I'm doing a project with netbeans 4.1 and I need to use two webcams,the same model web cams.The problem is that jmf only detects one of this. I read that if you open two jmfStudio you can use two cams but I want do this programming in java.
    Somebody have any idea?
    Thanks for all

    Hello,
    Maybe you have already solve your problem...I think you could use something like this:
    Vector deviceListVector;
        deviceListVector = CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(null);
              if (deviceListVector.size() == 0)
                   System.out.println("I can't find devices");
                   System.exit(0);
              if (deviceListVector == null)
                   System.out.println("I can't find devices");
                   System.exit(0);
              for ( int x = 0; x < deviceListVector.size(); x++)
                   CaptureDeviceInfo deviceInfo = (CaptureDeviceInfo) deviceListVector.elementAt(x);
                   String deviceInfoText = deviceInfo.getName();
                   System.out.println(deviceInfoText);
              }In this way you can see which devices are conected. I dont know if it will be useful. :)

  • Web Cam using Twain protocol

    Hi,
    I have a WebCam that acquire images using the TWAIN protocol. There is a difference to VfW.
    "VfW (VideoForWindows) is the very first version from Microsoft to support capturing of video streams. Since then this interface has been several times recycled to be still available, although it isnt the very best interface to support the current hardware. The big difference is, that a VfW driver is listed in the control panel -> multimedia -> devices -> video capture devices. The TWAIN driver is not. The TWAIN driver is a standardized protocol to talk directly to the hardware, whereas for the VfW interface the app talks to the OS, which forwards the request to the hardware." (http://www.ebbosoft.com/FAQ_s/faq_s.html).
    The question is: Can I use JMF2.0 to capture images from my webcam? JMF Registry doesn't see this capture device. Does anybody know a java solution?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I'd really be interested to find out how we can do this... I'm quite surprised there isn't an obvious Java solution. Guess I'll have to put my little web-cam project on hold!

  • Virtual Web Camera with JMF

    Hi
    I have tried to use virtual web camera with Java Media Framework.
    And what I wanted to point out why these are important is:
    We can use them as wireless web cameras and use with Java Media Framework
    Here we need two softwares
    1. softwares available to use our mobile phones as a wireless web cameras. ex- http://www.motvik.com/
    2. Softwares which acting as virtual web camera (comes with Windows Driver Model(WDM) driver)
    Once we installed both and completed the rest of the configuration. 1st software acting as a wireless web camera and the 2nd software detects the first software as a web camera. The important thing is it acting as a virtual web camera driver. Some of them even provide SDKs.
    So as they claim their provides WDM driver and supports all the VFW and DirectShow applications,([here is a one|http://www.e2esoft.cn/vcam/]) they must detect as capturing device by the JMF registry.
    But it is not.
    Can anyone please put some attention on this? Can any one please put some light?
    If I am wrong please correct me.
    Thank You
    Edited by: deshan on May 6, 2009 9:41 AM

    Hi captfoss thanx for answering.
    Actually my web camera(real one) is detected by JMF registry as vfw:Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32) : 0
    So as u said if it is not a must to detect the all the cameras I have to find the hardware ID of the virtual web cam driver. It is better to ask it from original developers. Also I am interesting to develop windows virtual web cam driver, So we have full access.
    So any body has tried this kind of application?

  • Problem with  M-JPEG by using JMF and JPEGCodec .

    Hi, there,
    I want to implement a M-JPEG using JMF and JPEGCodec, is that possible?(I already been trapped)
    My problem is I have a video clip which is a AVI file, the video format is following:
    Video format: RGB, 160x120, FrameRate=14.9, Length=57600, 24-bit, Masks=3:2:1, P
    ixelStride=3, LineStride=480, Flipped.
    I already convered a frame to an Image object(video format with JPEG and CVID doesn't work) ,
    I can also convert this Image back as a Buffer, It works fine with me .But to use JPEGCodec( provided by com.sun.image.codec.jpeg ) I need to convert an Image to a BufferedImage, I use the following defination:
    BufferedImage   bImage = new BufferedImage(frameImage.getWidth(null), frameImage.getHeigh(null),BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB); It seems work, But when I use JPEGImageEncoder to encoder this bImage and save as a jpg file,
    everything is black .
    I also need to cast BufferedImage to an Image: frameImage = (Image) bImage; then I convert frameImage back to Buffer.My video clip still running , but every frame now became black .
    can someone help me? thanks in advance.

    I solved this problem . But I met a new problem.
    I converted the above video clip into a JPEG and I want to create a DataSink for it. the messege is:
    Video format: JPEG, 160x120, FrameRate=12.0, Length=3574
    - set content descriptor to: AVI
    - set track format to: JPEG
    Cannot transcode any track to: JPEG
    Cannot create the DataSink: javax.media.NoDataSinkException: Cannot find a DataS
    ink for: com.sun.media.multiplexer.RawBufferMux$RawBufferDataSource@2b7eea
    Transcoding failedHope some Java Experts can help me.

  • URGENT- problem in detecting audio device using  JMF in  WIndows7 - 64 bit

    Hi,
    I am trying to detect the audio device in windows 7 -64 bit OS, using JMF API with JRE 1.6.18.But it showing zero device found.below i have mentioned the source code that i have used.please suggest how to solve this , thanks in advance.
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.Vector;
    import javax.media.CaptureDeviceInfo;
    import javax.media.CaptureDeviceManager;
    import javax.media.format.AudioFormat;
    import javax.media.format.VideoFormat;
    public class CaptureDeviceFinder {
    //possible audio formats available
    static String audioformats[] = {
    AudioFormat.LINEAR };
    static ArrayList available_audiolist= new ArrayList();
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    findAudioDevices();
    }//main
    public static void findAudioDevices() {
    / Audio capture devices /
    System.out.println("CAPTURE AUDIO FORMATS:");
    for (String format : audioformats) {
    System.out.println("format is :"format);
    Vector<CaptureDeviceInfo> devices = CaptureDeviceManager
    .getDeviceList(new AudioFormat(format));
    System.out.println("devices is"+devices);
    for (CaptureDeviceInfo device : devices) {
    if (!devices.isEmpty()) {
    System.out.println("\tFormat: " format);
    System.out.println("\t\t" device.getName());
    available_audiolist.add(format"|"+device.getName());
    System.out.println("list is :"+available_audiolist);

  • Streaming Video from a serial camera using JMF

    Hello, I have problems implementing video streaming with a serial camera.
    The data for a frame of the camera is like an array of RGB integer values starting from the first pixel until the last. I've implement the code to get the values and store in an integer array.
    how to generate video from the data i get?

    Hi,
    If you really want to do it yourself using TCP/IP you will have to read the standard : http://www.machinevisiononline.org/vision-standards-details.cfm?type=5
    Another way is to use NI Vision Acquisition Software, it include all the VI you will need to do image acquisition.

  • Capturing two cameras using JMF

    Hi,
    I am trying to capture media from two Logitech USB cameras, but I am not able to do so. Detect Capture Devices lists only one camera.
    Please let me know how can I get around with this problem.
    - t_k_m

    This is a known bug.... JMF sometimes doesn't detect the 2nd / multiple cameras. No easy workarounds.... The bug has been open since 2003, but there's no development or bug fixing on JMF anymore.

  • Problem with "Run Web Layout" using own template

    When I run a report (using Run Web Layout) which uses my own template (a modified version of rwblue.tdf), it outputs a plain page on the browser (as though it has no template).
    When running the same report (using Run Paper Layout), the output is as it should be.
    Can anyone help? Thank you in anticipation.

    Hi John
    Take a look at Reports product site on otn site. It has an example on how to create a web template for Reports Web View. In addtion to tdf file, for web layout, you need to have a .css file as well as a html code template.
    Hope this will help.
    Thanks
