Problem in InterPortlet Communication

hello
I read about the WebLogic Portal IPC(Inter Portlet Comm) Model. I tried to develop the sample IPC portlets in WebLogic Portal SP4, i faced some problems.
In the event handler dialog box, under the event actions list only thsese ver listed
change window mode
change window state
activate page
fire generic event
fire custom event
There was no "Invoke backingfile method" event listed.
Has any1 suceesfully implemented IPC ??
Thnks,
Chhimi

Can i get all traps including generic Trap.
Can u send me updated trap vi.
also can u tell me that how can i import the MIB file .
there is any Particular vi for this operation.
Prashan! You do realize that Mark has put up his SNMP library up for free use? If this library was part of the Internet Toolkit or some other NI Toolkit it would not be free, nowadays most likely password protected at least on library level, and you could at best put in an feature request and hope it is added in a few years.
If I was Mark I would feel your request to him to change it to suit your specific requirements all for free to be rather rude. Read the specs, understand how network communication works and make the few modifications to his library yourself! And then post the improvements so that others can benefit too! Once you have done that you will be able to make even more changes and also have improved your knowledge to be an even better engineer.

  • Interportlet Communication Issue - Help!!

    We are in the process of converting our site to 8.1 and have bumped into a problem
    with the interportlet communication. We have two portlets on a page that need
    to listen to each other (a Shopping Cart portlet and a Shopping Content portlet).
    We have specified on each portlet that it listen to the other and while that
    does fire the corresponding action on both portlets, it always fires portlet A
    before portlet B, even when we take an action on portlet B.
    It seems strange to me that in a listening portlet situation, it will always fire
    one before the other, regardless of where the action was taken.
    Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

    Hi Paul,
    I had issues with the inter-portlet communication also. From my understanding
    both portlets are listening to the same outer request. For example in the begin
    action method of Portlet_2 I have:
    HttpServletRequest outerrequest = ScopedServletUtils.getOuterRequest(getRequest());
    String param1 = outerrequest.getParameter("param1");
    if (param1.equals("some_value"))
    // do something
    In the JSP of my portlet_1 I have the following:
    <% HttpServletRequest outerrequest =
    ScopedServletUtils.getOuterRequest(request);
    String actionURLB = outerrequest.getRequestURI() + "?";
    %>
    <a href="<%=actionURLB%>param1=1 ">Do First</a>
    <a href="<%=actionURLB%>param1=2 ">Do Second</a>
    I don't have the Portlet_1 listening to the outer request. You may want to also
    look at the example in the examples provided from BEA which kind of helped me.
    However, I had problems incorporating their code that they provided even though
    they work well in the BEA examples.

  • How to do interportlet communication in JSR 286 Portlet

    HI,
    We are using webcentre portlet producer appliaction  and creating JSr 286 portlets. Using Jdeveloper 11.1.8.1 .
    Now we have two portlets one is search and another is search result.
    After the seacrh is clicked DAO should get called and search result should get refreshed with the search result.
    PLease let me know how can we do this ?
    Thanx in Advance.

  • Interportlet Communication

    Hi,
    Have a query with regards to the following.
    Appreciate if anyone could advise or correct my understanding:
    For the current project implementation, there are the following portlets from various vendors, using various implementations:
    1) A main portal, with a login portlet implemented using BEA workshop (BeeHive Apache NETUI)
    2) a shopping portlet (product A) implemented using MVC
    3) a checkout portlet (product B) implemented using JSR 168
    A typical user process will be to login, shop and checkout as in the above order.
    The 3 portlets above will need to communicate with each other.
    (a) Interportlet communication
    BEA allows these methods:
    (i) event handlers
    (ii) backing files
    (iii) refresh?
    Question 1: Are the above methods vendor-specific to BEA only?
    Note: Assume all 3 portlets are deployed locally, i.e. with not as remote portlets.
    Question 2: If yes, how can the login portlet "talk" to the other 2 portlets?
    Given that checkout portlet is implemented using JSR 168, does this mean portlet session is the only way of sharing information?
    Question 3: Can event handlers be used for IPC for this scenario, since its the most recommended way by BEA to implement this.
    Understand event handlers are defined in .portlet file. Is this correct?
    Question 4: Can both shopping and checkout portlet be "imported" to Workshop for development?
    Will both of them have .portlet file? If yes, then I would think event handler method can be used?
    Appreciate any advice or feedback.
    Thanks.

    BEA Weblogic Portal 9/10 i m using....
    I have wriiten the code to hide the page using PageBackingContext....
    PageBackingContext pbc = PageBackingContext.getPageBackingContext(getRequest());
    pbc.setvisible(false);

  • Problem with socket communications

    I am trying to put together a client server socket communication pair.
    I have one application that runs in the background acting as a server and another that can be started and stopped that acts as a client.
    I can start the server and create a server socket with no problem.
    I can start the client and it connects to the server.
    The server acknowledges the connection and appears to go into a blocking state waiting for the client to send another message.
    The server blocks at the line
    parent.logit("Waiting for message from EVR..... ");
    The problem is that when the client sends another message, the server doesn't hear it.
    I am not sure if the problem is with the client or server communication code.
    If anyone out there is a socket communication guru, I would appreciate it if you could tell me what I am doing wrong.
    Thanks

    Your first problem is that you keep closing and recreating the ServerSocket. Do this once only in the lifetime of the server.
    This is such a basic error that I haven't read the rest of the code. Before you go any further I suggest you read the Custom Networking trail of the Java Tutorial.

  • Problem With Receiver Communication (File Adapter)

    Hi,
    My SAP XI Version is 3.0 with Service Pack 7,I have a strange problem,
    I have a flat file coming from Unix system,I need to convert this into  XML and put a copy in the Archive mode and send the XML file,getting it converted into flat file format send it to the receiver.Here I have to do the content Conversion,So,I have done content conversion while configuring Sender and Receiver Communication Channel.
    I am using NFS as Transport Proctocol.So, everthing was fine when i run the scenario,after activating.The Sender communication Channel is Archiving the files.But I am unable to see any file with receiver communication channel.
    So,for this I have checked up with Adapter monitoring in Runtime Workbench. In my File Adapter My Sender as well as Receiver Communication Channels are in Green.They are mentioning that Sender Communction is sucessful and
    RECEIVER COMMUNICATION IS Sucessful but no messages processed.
    Can any one suggest what to do now.Everything is fine with Content conversion and Unix System.But my receiver is not receiving any messages.
    Should any OSS notice or patch work needs to be applied.
    Thank You,
    KishoreJ.

    Hi Kishore,
    I Guess you should first see if the file is being picked......for that do the following.
    While configuring your Sender File Adapter, let the mode be DELETE. This way, we will know if the file is being picked by the File adapter. The file will be deleted and you can be sure that it has been picked up.
    Next, look into the RWB--> FILE ADAPTER and see the log of the file adapter
    and also, you can see the flow of your message in the integration engine in SXMB_MONI.
    Ans still if your message is not showing up in SXMB_MONI, please do as explained below.
    Increase logging and trace level in:
    SXMB_ADM -> Integration Engine Configuration -> Specific Configuration
    Also create entries as follows in it:
    LOGGING = 1
    LOGGING_SYNC = 1
    TRACE_LEVEL = 3
    TRACE_LEVEL_PROPAGATION = 1
    Also refer XI: I cannot see some of my messages in the SXMB_MONI

  • Problem with Getting Community ID with MyPortalModel

    Hi,
    I tried to use the code in the samplePEI under UISourceCode( ExPageActions) to retrieve the pageID and community ID. The code is as follow:
    if(_asCurrentSpace.GetModelExists(MyPortalModel.STR_MVC_CLASS_NAME)){
    MyPortalModel model = (MyPortalModel) asCurrentSpace.GetModel(MyPortalModel.STRMVC_CLASS_NAME);
    iitem_id = model.GetPageID();
    iextra_id = model.GetCommunityID();
    The problem is that I get strange ids. For example my home page would get pageid=0 communityid = -999. And a community page with incorrect pageid and community id. Can anybody find what's wrong with that, or is there another way to retrieve the ids?
    Thanks heaps.
    Joshua

    Thanks for your help. I find out that some invalid numbers could be blocked. By when I have a modified community home page. It gives the correct community page, say 220 and an INVALID page id 118. For all community home page the page id should be 0 rite?
    Thanks

  • VISA Read function Read buffer problem in serial communication

    Hi,  I use VISA write and read function in serial communication app, the device continuously sends 0x00 if it is not receive a request from Labview program running on PC.
    And the request sent by labview is programmable. I met a weird problem, each time the request changes, the VISA read buffer output port still shows the last request firstly, from second time, shows the right request.
    It works like: Req code: ... 50, 51,51,51,50....;  VISA Read buffer: ...50, 50, 51, 51, 51, 51, 50....
    Please refer to the program.
    Attachments:
    readOne_test.vi ‏21 KB

    How are you running this?  You don't have a while loop around it.  Is it part of a larger VI?  Please don't tell me you are using the run continuously button.
    You don't have any wait statement between you VISA Write and your bytes at port.  So it is very likely the receive buffer is still empty since you didn't give your VI time to wait for the device to turn around and give a reply.  If you read 0 bytes, your VISA read string will be empty.  How does your decoder subVI (which you didn't include) handle an empty string?

  • Problems with Serial Communication using Labview 6 and Solaris 8

    I am working on a Driver for a Temperature Controller. But I am stuck at the very basics. I am using Labview 6 and the platform is Solaris 8 on a SUN Ultra 60 Workstation. I can not get the Serial communication to work. When I am running raw (uncompiled) code it works (I can read from and write to ttya and ttyb) but once compiled I get error code 37 (device not found). I have tried the following steps to fix this with no luck.
    1) I made sure that the "serpdrv" file is in the same folder with the executable. I also make sure the serpdrv file is added as a support file when building the app.
    2) I changed from using traditional serial VI's to labview 6's new visa functions. With these "new" VI's when
    I try to initiliaze the visa device and wire a control to the "visa reference" input only 1 serial port shows up (ASRL2, missing ASRL1). I am not sure if this is part of same problem or whole new issue.
    3) I reinstalled both visa and labview 6.0.2 update hoping this would help with no luck
    4) I placed the following entry into the ".labviewrc" file
    labview.serialdevices: "/dev/ttya:/dev/ttyb"
    If anybody has had the same problem I would love to hear about it and if you have any solutions
    Jamie Shea

    Hi Jamie,
    1. Do you have NI-VISA driver installed on the machine on which you are running this executable?? If you are trying to run the executable on the same machine on which the development program has ran fine, then you can ignore this point.
    2. If you have done all the changes that are suggested by other discussions related to this topic, then try changing the Port input to Visa Serial Configure.Vi from a control to a constant and try it. In some case, I have seen this to do the trick. I think this point should solve your problem. If it does do tell me. :-))

  • ITunes 9 install problem: software for communicating with ipods not install

    I downloaded and installed the update for iTunes 9 via apple software updater last night, and when I started iTunes I got the error "The software required for communicating with iPods and Mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?" I click yes, and it says it couldn't fix the problem.
    I followed the instructions here (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) to completely uninstall itunes and quicktime and all supporting components, including mobileme and bonjour and then reinstalled iTunes9 using the setup file downloaded from apple.com. Still no luck! I get the same error when I start iTunes.
    any suggestions? Help! Should I go back to the older version of iTunes?
    btw, when I uninstalled iTunes, I kept my library files and two plugins around: last.fm scrobbler and mmkeys. Does this matter? I don't think so: I tried removing the plugins and I still got the same error.
    I'm running Vista 64bit, and I used the 64 bit installer.

    For those using Windows 7 64-bit, I also experienced this frustrating installation error. However, tonight, I was finally able to install iTunes 9 without getting the communication message by setting the compatibility tab under the properties tab of the installer to the following settings:
    - check "run this program in compatibility mode for Windows Vista Service Pack 2"
    - check "run this program as an administrator"
    - launch the installer by right-clicking and selecting "run as administrator"
    After selecting those options and also uninstalling iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device Support, iTunes 9 finally installed without any glitches on my Windows 7 OS.
    Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for Vista users except for the already posted recommendation to use the 32-bit installer.

  • E72 - problem with Office Communicator Mobile

    Has anyone successfully used the new native OCS client for the E72? Mine won't connect to the OCS server with a not very helpful "-20" error message. I've looked at the details in the McsService0.log file but nothing obviously wrong jumps out.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I have managed to install and use the communicator OCS on E72, using the CWA R2. It worked for 2 days. Pretty well though, from internal and outside networks.
    However, i now have the connection error #39 (from the logs: Error McsTransport: internal error (Synch), error=-39). No way to make it work, have tried uninstall/re-install, different networks (WiFi internal, external, 3G)...
    And i see the traffic going through the CWA!
    thanks for your ideas (and sorry for not anwering your error 20 problem ;-))
