Problem in sorting cloumn

in input in form following data as it as
color type
white 123
blue 456
yellow 789
when report runs it displays
blue 456
white 123
yellow 789
i have defined in query ORDER BY TYPE but still report is not showing as i input in form
what should i do??

if color & type are separate fields then it 'll work for sure via order by clause.but if its one field as color type then it 'll not work via order by clause.
in that case try using order by rowid or rownum.

  • Problem with sorting involving user defined types and reports

    Hello!
    I have a problem with sorting involving Reports and user defined objet types.
    I have created the following object types
    CREATE TYPE type_balance_compte AS OBJECT
    NUM_CPT_SEQ NUMBER(8)
    ,NUM_CPT VARCHAR2(35)
    CREATE TYPE TB_type_balance_compte IS TABLE OF type_balance_compte
    At the reports query I use:
    SELECT ...
    FROM table(cast(test_pkg.balance_comptes(:P_num_soc) as TB_type_balance_compte)) c
    The procedure balance_comptes will retrieve data from various tables into the type.
    The report is ordered by a certain string field that usually contains characters and numbers.
    I need to have numbers always before characters, meaning the data should come in this order in the report for example:
    0
    1
    A
    B
    So, before the report query, I have placed a call to DBMS_SESSION.SET_NLS( 'nls_sort', 'binary' ) to guarantee NLS_SORT in case it is originally set to FRENCH.
    The problem here is that even after this call, I have the report ordered like this
    A
    B
    0
    1
    And not the numbers before as it should be.
    To try and find out where the problem was, I have created a table to use instead of the object type described above. In this case, it worked correctly. So all I know by now is that is has something to do with the type or cast, but what exactly? Does anybody now how to solve this without using a table?
    Many thanks
    Ariadne

    I have placed a call to DBMS_SESSION.SET_NLS( 'nls_sort', 'binary' ) why not order directly then:
    SQL> select *
          from table (sys.dbms_debug_vc2coll ('A', 1, '5', 'C', 'a'))
    order by nlssort (column_value, 'NLS_SORT = binary')
    COLUMN_VALUE
    1
    5
    A
    C
    a
    5 rows selected.?

  • Problem with 'sort and filter' feature of embed codes in Excel Online Web App

    So my question has to do with the Excel Online feature where you can share a spreadsheet and embed it in a website with the option of allowing users to sort and filter the data. (The option is under the "Interaction" heading.)
    One of the options if you look closely is "Let people sort and filter" which is not checked off. In the embed code you can see "AllowInteractivity=False". The problem is that when I check "Let people sort and filter"
    the embed code changes completely - going from:
    <iframe width="700" height="900" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=dontworryaboutitEDFD383&resid=6BAA9620AEDFD383%21107&authkey=AFj3X8xq2U3IfDE&em=2&wdAllowInteractivity=False&Item='Sheet1'!A1%3AI32"></iframe>
    to:
    <iframe width="700" height="900" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=dontworryaboutitEDFD383&resid=6BAA9620AEDFD383%21107&authkey=AFj3X8xq2U3IfDE&em=2&Item='Sheet1'!A1%3AI32"></iframe>
    If I manually change 'false' to 'true' that doesn't do the trick so I'm not sure what to try next.
    Any thoughts?

  • Song order on ipod problem ( only sorted as date added)

    Basically what the title states. I just got a new Ipod (30G) and I just finished putting 1000+ songs on it, it was hard work but i finally got it. Yet I found out that my ipod is doing to the same things my other one was doing, Instead of sorting the songs in Alphabetical order by Artist in my playlist, it will only sort it by date added instead.
    I put my songs manually instead of syncing and Im not about to reorganize all my songs on Itunes for this problem.
    Is there anyone who can help me?
    Thanks.
      Windows XP

    I'm not letting this question die out here.
    Any help is appreciated.
    thanks.

    HI Mahesh,
    <TRANSACTION_RECEIPT_DATE>07-Apr-09</TRANSACTION_RECEIPT_DATE>
    this is not a date,
    so you should change the query to get you the format in xsd format : YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss+HH:MM
    otherwise, you have to write a custom sort function to decode and order it it.
    if you dont do the custom order and use
    <?sort:TRANSACTION_RECEIPT_DATE;'ascending';data-type='date'?>
    the data will be treated as string and you will see the row is sorted on string.

  • Problem in sorting of table

    Hi Friends:
        Below are the records in my table:
    a...|b|c...... |d.....|e................|f
    100||25000|......|0000012998|0002259999
    100|*|25000|1405|0000012998|0002251405
    100|*|25000|1406|0000012998|0002251406
    100|*|25000|1407|0000012998|0002251407
    100|*|25000|1409|0000012998|0002251409
    100|*|25000|1410|0000012998|0002251410
    100|*|25000|1411|0000012998|0002251411
    100|*|25000|1419|0000012998|0002251419
    100|*|25000|1420|0000012998|0002251420
    100|*|25000|1421|0000012998|0002251421
    a = client
    b=  Leg.Dept Code
    c= Legacy Product
    d= Legacy Location
    e= Cost Center
    f= Profit Center
    Please consider '.' as space.
    The problem arises in the sorting of the table records.  The first record shown in the record set above has the following entry:
    a...|b|c...... |d.....|e................|f
    100||25000|......|0000012998|0002259999
    This is the default entry that is to be used if there is no Leg.Location (where Leg. Location = *).  If there is an entry for the specific Leg. Location, then it should be used prior to using this record.
    Problem appears to be that the ABAP program locates this default record prior to encountering the specific record, for example:
    a...|b|c...... |d.....|e................|f
    100|*|25000|1419|0000012998|0002251419
    Because the program encounters the wildcard one first, even if the Leg. Location that the program is searching for is 1419 (which appears in the table, just lower in the listing) the program returns a Profit Center of 2259999 instead of the correct value of 2251419.
    Is it possible to change the native sort of this table so that the wildcard entries appear at the bottom of the listing instead of the top? If yes, can it be done permanently.
    This would allow the program to encounter the specific entries prior to encountering the wildcard ones.

    Hi Paul:
       Thanks for your response. Can you please look at the code below. Actually I've got this issue in the form of a ticket.

    Can you please help me with the exact problem in this code.Or if you can give me some idea. It would be a great help.

  • Problems with sort, search and write objects o an ArrayList

    Hi
    Lets say that i have two subclasses (the program is not finished so in the end it can be up to 34 classes) of an abstract superclass. I also got one class which basicly is a register in which i've created an ArrayList of the type <abstractClass>. This means that i store the two subclasses in the arrayList. no problems so far i think (at least eclipse doesn't mind).
    1. now, i want to be able to sort the arrayList aswell as search thorugh it. I've tried Collections.sort(arrayList) but it doesn't work. So i have no idea how to solve that.
    2.The search-method i made doesn't work as good as i hoped for either. I ask the user to first decide what to search for (choose subclass) and then input the same properties as the subclass we search for. I create a new object of the subclass with these inputs and try arrayList.contains(subClassObject)
    it runs but it returns +"false"+ even if i create an object with the exact same properties.
    3. If i want to write this arrayList to a txtFile so i can import it another time. Which is the best method? first i just thought i'd convert the arrayList to string and then print every single object to a textfile as strings. that worked but i have no good idea how to import that into the same arrayList later. Then i found ObjectOutputStream and import using inputStream.nextObject(). But that doesn't work :(
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

Your classes should in that case implement Serializable.

    in internal table
    name LIKE stravelag-name
    but the sort statement is not executing properly, names are being printed on the screen but they are not
    being formated.

    Hi
    as per my knowledge there is slight diff between type and like keywords
    type key refer the data type of a field where as like key refer the reference of existing  internal table in this just refer the data types not content(data)
    example:
    types:BEGIN OF ty_itab,
          matnr type mara-matnr,
          matkl type mara-matkl,
          mbrsh type mara-mbrsh,
          ersda type mara-ersda,
      END OF ty_itab.
      data:itab type STANDARD TABLE OF ty_itab.
      data:wa_itab type ty_itab.
    we want to create one more internal table with the existing structure  at this time  we will go through the like keyword.
    jtab like itab occurs 10.
    and also check the following code.
    REPORT  sort.
    types:BEGIN OF ty_itab,
          matnr type mara-matnr,
          matkl type mara-matkl,
          mbrsh type mara-mbrsh,
          ersda type mara-ersda,
      END OF ty_itab.
    data:itab type STANDARD TABLE OF ty_itab.
      data:wa_itab type ty_itab.
      select matnr matkl mbrsh ersda from mara into wa_itab.
        APPEND wa_itab to itab.
    ENDSELECT.
    SORT itab by mbrsh.
    write:/ 'matno',' mat group','industry sector','created on'.
    loop at itab into wa_itab.
      write:/ wa_itab-matnr,wa_itab-matkl,wa_itab-mbrsh,wa_itab-ersda.
      endloop.

  • Problem of sorting month name in pivot table

    Hello,
    I have a month name that is sorted by month number in my repository.
    When I select Year + month name + measure sorted by year then by month name and I look the result in a table, everything works perfectly but when I switch to a pivot table the sorting doesn't work : the pivot table sorts my month name in an alphabetical order instead of using the month number .... Is it normal ?
    To find a solution, I have added my month number and I have sorted by year then by month number and I have hidden my column month number. This have solved my problem for the pivot table but if I attached a chart to it (by selecting "Chart Pivoted Results"), the label of the bottom axis contains the month number and the month name and I haven't found where I can hide this month number. Why the hidden option only works on the pivot table and not on the pivot chart ? And how I can do that ?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    No there is no Transient attribute involved , could you please tell me what might cause this error .
    Basically this page is for inserting a record.
    Thanks ,

  • OO ALV grid refresh problem on sort

    I have an editable OO ALV where I over ride the standard functionality for append, insert, Delete etc to handle condition that when a new row is inserted/appended its status which is in a non-editable cell  is defaulted to some value. Now the logic is as follows
    1.User clicks on append button(which we have overridden)  I capture it in user command and append a blank row at end with default status in itab and do a grid->refresh_table_display()
    2.User enters values in all cells and presses ENTER , control goes to handle_data_changed method I validate and check the modified rows from ER_DATA_CHANGED->MOD_ROWS or ER_DATA_CHANGED->MOD_CELLS and update my itab with the values entered on screen and again do a grid->refresh_table_display() so the values are displayed again on the screen.
    Problem is when I give a SORT criteria or press sort say according to Year (descending) if grid already contains 2 rows and we add 3rd row with year 2009 at bottom
    Amount Year Status
    100        2007  Old
    200        2006  Old
    300        2009 New
    Then on ENTER the 3rd row goes to 1st place as it should  but the values on the 3rd row do not change!!! eg see below
    Amount Year Status
    300        2009 New
    100        2007  Old
    300        2009 New
    The problem is only when the ALV is sorted & I have a unique row index in my itab to keep track of records. I feel this is a mismatch in the frontend and backend update. Any body else have a clue why is this happening only on sort ?

    Don't do your refresh_table_display( ) until the data_changed_finished event.
    Cheers,
    Phil

  • A Problem With Sorting via Applescript

    Hello everyone. I have always lurked these forums and learnt many things along the way, but this is my first question, and I hope that someone can help me out. I apologise for the huge post.
    I have created a spreadsheet in Numbers that I plan to use for a soccer tournament. There are 8 Groups of 4 teams in the competition, so I have set each Group up on its own sheet in order to record the results of the games. Group 1 is on Sheet 1, Group 2 is on Sheet 2 etc. These results are then fed into a second table on the each page in order to create a competition ladder for each group. So far so good, works beautifully. See image:
    My next step is sorting these tables so that they form a proper "results table" with the best team on top. My wish is to sort the results table in this order:
    Points
    Diff
    F
    Although not very experienced with Applescript, I have written a script to sort all of the 8 sheets so that I don't have to do them one at a time. Unfortunately I find that every second sheet does not sort correctly, even though I am using the same instructions for each seet in my script.
    See here, sheet two:
    Sheet 3 sorts correctly but not sheet 4, sheet 5 is good but sheet 6 bad etc...
    This is my script:
    tell application "Numbers"
              tell table "Ladder1" of sheet "Group1" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "k" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder1" of sheet "Group1" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "i" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder1" of sheet "Group1" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "g" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder2" of sheet "Group2" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "k" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder2" of sheet "Group2" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "i" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder2" of sheet "Group2" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "g" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder3" of sheet "Group3" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "k" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder3" of sheet "Group3" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "i" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder3" of sheet "Group3" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "g" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder4" of sheet "Group4" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "k" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder4" of sheet "Group4" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "i" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder4" of sheet "Group4" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "g" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder5" of sheet "Group5" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "k" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder5" of sheet "Group5" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "i" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder5" of sheet "Group5" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "g" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder6" of sheet "Group6" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "k" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder6" of sheet "Group6" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "i" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder6" of sheet "Group6" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "g" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder7" of sheet "Group7" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "k" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder7" of sheet "Group7" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "i" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder7" of sheet "Group7" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "g" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder8" of sheet "Group8" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "k" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder8" of sheet "Group8" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "i" direction descending
              end tell
              tell table "Ladder8" of sheet "Group8" of document "Manu"
      sort by column "g" direction descending
              end tell
    end tell
    Can anybody see any obvious errors with the script? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    First I would look at some items to simplify the script:
    I did NOT run this.
    tell application "Numbers"
              set LadderNumber to 1
              repeat 8 times
           set theLadder to "Ladder" & LadderNumber
           set theGroup to "Group" & LadderNumber
           tell table theLadder of sheet theGroup of document "Manu"
                sort by column "k" direction descending
                sort by column "i" direction descending
                sort by column "g" direction descending
                             end tell
                             set LadderNumber to (LadderNumber + 1)
              end repeat
    end tell
    I don't see a problem with the script.  I suggest adding a dummy table to each sheet and confirming you can set a value in the dummy table from the script (maybe after manually setting the value to some default value).  you can also add print dialogs at each step to see what's happening... like:
    set aValue to <what ever>
    display dialog "The value is: " & aValue
    just some thoughts

  • Report Problem. Sort by Date?

    Hello all.
    I simply need to column sort by date, the problem is that the date needs a format mask.
    So I obviously do the following:
    SELECT to_char(SYSDATE, 'DD/MM/YYYY') FROM dual
    The problem is, it uses it as a CHAR.
    If I do
    SELECT to_date(to_char(SYSDATE, 'DD/MM/YYYY'),'DD/MM/YYYY') FROM dual
    It removes the format mask, any ideas?
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
    as Mike suggested, go to the "Column Attributes" of your report column and set the property "Number / Date Format" to DD/MM/YYYY
    In your SQL statement you just select the date column without any type conversion.
    What does it do?
    For the sorting, the Oracle database can do the sorting with the original date type. So you will get the correct ordering and after APEX has read the value it will apply the defined format mask and display it the way you like it. So APEX will do the TO_CHAR for you.

  • Problem in sorting the records

    Hi All,
    I have to sort some records based on a key. If the key field is optional then how to sort the records. For example consider the follwing records.
    <row>
          <name>jaya</name>
          <address>hyd</address>
          <material>d</material>
          <units>4</units>
          <price>6</price>
    </row>
      <row>
          <address>ss</address>
          <material>wd</material>
          <units>7</units>
          <price>9</price>
       </row>
    <row>
          <name>radha</name>
          <address>pune</address>
          <material>g</material>
          <units>9</units>
          <price>3</price>
    </row>
    Here name field is used as a key in sorting the records. in the second record name field does'nt exists. All the records that doesnt have the name field shud come on the top and the rest with name field shud come sorted.
    Can anyone please helpout how to solve this problem??

    Jhansi,
    Did u solved the issue? The scenario is lil bit complicated, please consider my below suggestion, if you haven't achieved your results.
    I must really thankful to Michal and all my SDN friends,who guided me to use the logic-using multiple Mapping program in one Interface mapping.

    Ok, let us come to the logic.
    For your problem we need to use two mapping programs.

                Name[j]=temp;
    for(int i=0;i<Name.length;i++)
    if(Name<b>[</b>i<b>]</b>.equals("0"))
    result.addSuppress();
    result.addContextChange();
    else
    result.addValue(""Name<b>[</b>i<b>]</b>"");
    result.addContextChange();
    <b>UDF 2 - Testin1</b>

    String temp,temp1;

    I hope it helps you!!!!
    I don't know whether this is the correct way or any other simplest way to do so. Also I request our friends to feedback their inpute regarding this logic.
    Jhansi,if you have any doubts in achieving the same, kindly reply back.
    Best regards,

  • Problem in sorting with date

    Hi,
    I have a requirement of sorting a column which displays date or a comment. Because of the presence of comment in some of the rows, the data type is not maintained as Date but as String.
    That is cause of problem as the dates are getting sorted as per the String rules.
    Could anyone suggest an approach of sorting strings with date??
    Many Thanks,
    Anagha

    Hello Anagha!
    Try to this code.
    class MyComparator implements Comparator {
         public int compare(Object o1, Object o2) {
         IWDNodeElement element1 = (IWDNodeElement) o1;
         IWDNodeElement element2 = (IWDNodeElement) o2;
         Date date1 = new Date(element1.getAttributeAsText("Your name of Attribute"));
         Date date2 = new Date(element2.getAttributeAsText("Your name of Attribute"));
         return date1.compareTo(date2);
    And just use it for your node, like this
        I"YourNode"Node node = wdContext.node"YourNode"();
        MyComparator myComparator = new MyComparator();
        node.sortElements(myComparator);
    I hope it helps!

  • Add row to tabular form pagination problem when sorted

    Hi,
    I have a problem with a tabular form that has various sortable columns. If the user tries to add a row when the sort order is set to something where possibly the nulls are appearing first in the list, then the user cannot enter any data (since the last page of results is always shown after clicking the add row button).
    I know the empty record is in the list somewhere since the pagination page count is increased by 1, but there is no way for the user to enter data into that record since traversing back pages then removes the empty record. How can I fix this? Is it possible to programatically reset all column sorting?
    Cheers!

    Hi,
    Sort orders in reports are stored as user preferences - these can be removed using PL/SQL. Have a look at: Need to do column SORTING only when I click the column heading and Re: Default sort and pagination placement not working in reports
    Or, you could try adding a blank row in your SQL statement itself: Problems With "Add A Row"
