Problem in starting oracle
hi,
I have a problem with starting Oracle du to a power cut.
I dont have any backup.
i wasn't able to startup in mount mode but after recreating the control file i can now start in mount mode but i can't open the database.
I have now when i try to start the following message
SQL> startup
ORACLE instance started.
Total System Global Area 2952790016 bytes
Fixed Size 2059104 bytes
Variable Size 2315256992 bytes

Database mounted.
ORA-01589: must use RESETLOGS or NORESETLOGS option for database open
I'm not interesting in recovering data from redolog i just want to open datafiles and of course open the database.
Many thanks for your help, you are my last chance.
I have now tried for the other files here is the output:

Problem in starting oracle database
i have currently installed oracle express edition 11g ,it installed successfully but now when i trying to start it from the shortcut on my desktop it is giving message
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1:8080 how can i solve this problem
my OS is windows xp SP3 plz helpHi,
I think the installation went wrong somehow (XP pro is supported, XP not but you probably can get it working too ).
You could try the action again but first manually set the ORACLE_SID by typing :
SET ORACLE_SID=XE
and then try to start it up again with :
sqlplus / as sysdba
startup
If this still fails you could check C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\diag\rdbms\xe\xe\trace\alert_xe.log to see if any extra information is logged at the end of the file about the ORA-01041

Open a sqlplus session with / as sysdba and ensure your database is up and running, otherwise, just issue startup from this prompt. Ensure your listener is up and running too, just issue lsnrctl start from the OS prompt and feedback.

Problems starting Oracle Net Listner on Kubuntu
I have installed Oracle XE on Kubuntu.
Everything went fine... except the net listner.
When I try to start the deamon using
/etc/init.d/oracle-xe start
it stays in the following line for a very long time...
Starting Oracle Net Listner.
If I try to open the url:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
it says unable to establish connection with the server.
Can someone help me solve this problem. I have to get this server running at the earliest.Oracle itself is working? Please try the following:
Login with the oracle user
Set your environment with . /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/oracle_env.sh (please use also the "." in front of the script)
Connect to oracle instance via sqplus / as sysdba
If the database is up and running, the next thing would be to check if a firewall or SELINUX is active.

Cannot start Oracle 8.1.5 on Windows XP Pro
Hi all,
I am facing a hell lot of problem in starting an Oracle 815 ( Enterprise edition ) database installed on WindowsXP Pro.
First problem is that , I am a Unix person and very less familier with Windows servers .
I have successfully ( appearently ) installed Oracle 8.1.5 Enterprise edition on my Laptop with Windows XP Pro.
In the service manager I can see the created services , like for the database , listener etc.
I have set all of them to be started manually .
When I try to start the database service ( instance ) , a progress bar appears as the service is being started .
As the progress bar progresses , its progress becomes slower and slower , at the end it stops saying ,
Could not start the OracleService<sid of db> service on Local Computer
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
In the service manager the status of the service becomes 'starting' and thats it . It do not allow to start or stop that service after that .
Is there any log or trace I can see for this ?
If I start the listener service , it starts immediatly .
Please advice .Hi ,
I have just installed the latest OLEDB (OraWin9204) And ODBC (ora9205) Providers on my laptop using Oracle9i Personal Edition on Windows XP Prof. Now im getting this same error message. (service did not start in a timely fasion)
If i try and run the oracle service from the command line i get more of a clue.
\oraHome\bin\oracle.exe <service name>
the following error message appears :
The procedure entry point qmxdCvtXtobToSax could not be located in the dynamic link library orageneric9.dll
this is located in the \oraHome\bin directory
i have unpacked all of the jar files and had a look through them and i definatley have the latest orageneric9.dll that i can find which is :
Date = 08/08/2003 : 12:39
size = 2,638,096
does anyone have a newer version of this file ? -

[ERROR]: Installer has encountered an internal Error. Contact Oracle support with details
[EXCEPTION]:java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
I think that the error would be caused by the JDK version with which try to initializing.
Anyone have any idea about the possible error? Thanks in advance.Hi, I encourage you to try to use the generic installer at: %SOA_INSTALLER_DIR%/Disk1/runInstaller. Because if you are using the runInstaller at %SOA_INSTALLER_DIR%/Disk1/install/solaris it will lead to that problem in some cases.
