Problem Installing BI Beans Catalog

I am having a problem when executing either bi_installcatalog.bat or bi_installcatauto.bat. The error message is "Character Set Not Supported !!: DBConversion".
I have Oracle9iDS Release 2 and the RDBMS is Oracle9i Release 1.
Can anyone help me? Thanks.

This is a common problem when the Database JDBC JAR's and the Oracle client Software JAR's are out of sync.
So before running the scripts, you need to ensure the JDBC_CLASSPATH variable is set, so it refernces the JDBC JAR's that come with the Oracle Client Installation.
Please check the release notes and installation guide for more information.

    Thank you for your help

    Hi Amer,
For OLAP access in 10g database you must apply the 10.1.0.4 patchset that can be downloaded from Metalink. This provides many new features for the OLAP option such as improved sparsity management and paritioned cubes to name a few of the new features.
Once you have this patchset installed you will then be able to use Discoverer to access your dimensions and cubes.
    Hope this helps

  • Problem installing net beans

    Hi,
I installed the JDK 5.0 netbeans4.0 bundle a while ago, yet I feel more comfortable with netbeans 3.6. I decided to uninstall netbeans 4.0 and download and install netbeans 3.6. However when I try to do this I get this error -
"a suitable JVM could not be found. Please run the program again using the option -is:javahome <JAVA HOME DIR>"
I have set my JAVA_HOME variable in my environment variables yet its still complaining. I also set my CLASSPATH as well as add ;%JAVA_HOME%\bin" to the end of my PATH variable. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I would really like to use NB 3.6 asap! Thanks for the help!!

You can remove settings yourself but this may result in no java server working.
If you do this, re-install the version of java you want.
NOTE: You can use netbeans 3.6 with java 1.5 so you can just re-install java 1.5.

  • Error connecting to bi bean catalog with jdev

I'm in the process of getting the bibdemo up and running.
Started with oracle 9ir2 and applied the patch set 1 as directed by the bib903 installation instructions. After installtion of bib903 ran catalog creation scripts without any errors. Installed the bibdemo (latest) without any errors as well.
    Started up jdeveloper....
While testing my connection to the bi bean catalog I get
an error telling me that the connection was successful but the metadata is not valid and could not be retrieved.
As far as I can tell, everything is valid. I went ahead and copied the jdbc drives from oracle_home/jdbc/* from the database into the jdev/jdbc/home.. Also i removed the olap api 901 jar from the 'available library list'
Neither things seem to make a difference...
    TIA...

    Hi
As part of your patching process did you run the sql module CATPATCH.SQL? If not please refer to the patch note instructions for details on how to apply this patch. This patch must be fully applied for BI Beans 9.0.3 to work correctly.
Also please check that olap_api_92.jar is in the JDEV_HOME/jdev/lib/ext directory. This will ensure that the correct connection architecture is in place. If the file is not in this directory copy it from the JDEV_HOME/bibeans/lib directory. The file olap_api_901.jar must not be in the JDEV_HOME/jdev/lib/ext directory, if it is please delete it.
    Hope this helps

Which model MacBook Pro do you have, and which version of Mac OS is noted as being on your grey installation DVD? (It can be found on the lower left of your Mac OS X Install DVD.)

  • How to Create BI Beans Catalog

I am using latest version of Oracle 10g data base, latest patch installed. All OLAP patches installed.
I want to use JDeveloper along with BI beans. BI Beans Catalog is not created and populated with data yet. Can anyone suggest how BI Beans catalog can be created and populated.

Please refer to the documentation provided on the BI Beans section of OTN. This explains how to create the BI Beans catalog schema.
For populating the catalog with presentations etc please refer to the samples, white papers and viewlets posted on the BI Beans section of OTN. These will explaing everything you need to know about the BI Beans catalog and how to use it.
    Hope this helps

  • How I Can Specify JDeveloper Location to Install BI Beans?

Hi Gurus, as others I am also new in OTN, I downloaded JDeveloper 10.1.3.10 and BI Beans and installing "Custom Option".
I unzipped JDeveloper files on C:\Oracle\JDevStudio\
During installation BI Beans on "Specify JDeveloper Location to Install BI Beans" page giving above path raise an error message "The JDeveloper was found is at your specified location is an unknown version. Please specify a full path to a supported version (10.1.2 or higher) of JDeveloper". Whereas I am using JDevelper (10.1.3.10). How I can solve this problem?

  • BI Beans catalog - other content

is it possible for the BI Beans catalog to store other (xml) data besides presentation information. For example, can I use it deliver textual reports but use the built in permissions mechanism.
Is there any code available to illustrate how this might be done?

As I stated before this is not a public API and there would be serious implications for your application if you decided to implement this API call. We would not guarantee the ability to upgrade your application through future releases if you decided to use the API.
Also please note neither Oracle Support or the product management team can provide assistance with the use of this API or issues relating to the use the API. So by using this call you are in fact rendering your application unsupportable by Oracle. Should you have any issues with your application the first requirement to reproduce the problem will be that you remove all calls to the API and reproduce the problem.
As long as you understand this and accept the associated responsibility, then please see the following code:
    Class: oracle.dss.bicontext.gui.IconManager
    * Register a new icon with the manager
    * @param type - the key associated with the icon
    * @param icon - the icon
    * @status New

  • 10.6.8 update combined - problems installing

    Hi all,
Currently having huge problems installing this update on my mac, have been trying for a couple of days now to get this machine back up and running again after I was told by the genius bar 2 years ago that after them spending nearly 900 pounds on new parts, that they "had no idea what the problem was, but could be something to do with the logic board". I finally decided to sell it, but as a parts and repair it will get £100 and fully working it could get a bit more, so it's in my interest to get it up and running again.
I am by no means a computer expert, but I know a few things and can normally sort problems out by just simply using search, but alas I have finally been beaten, and have come here to ask for some assistance.
After re-installing my macbook pro 3,1 (mid 2007) with it's original 10.4 tiger software probably 5 times before it worked, then moving on to 10.6 snow leopard which also took a couple of attempts, I am now completely stuck with no way to get this machine up to 10.6.8, so that I can make the jump to mountain lion. The software update program is either an absolute heap of dung, or my computer just won't have any of it. I have tried multiple solutions which I will list below:
Using software update to install the 10.6.8 combined update - Failed
Downloading the 10.6.8 combined update from apple support downloads - Failed
Deleting the library/preferencecom.apple.softwareupdate etc. files - Still software update Failed
Downloading 10.6.1 update and installing - Success after a few attempts
Downloading 10.6.8 combined and trying again - Failed
Downloading 10.6.2 update and installing - Failed
Now this is where I am at. I have downloaded these files both on the macbook pro itself, and on my windows laptop - then transfering them across. I have never been more frustrated at a computer in my entire life, and am about 20 minutes away from throwing this laptop out of the window onto a poor bystander below. If anyone has any solution - (and don't say reformat and reinstall the OS - I've already tried that), then it would be greatly appreciated!
I'll post the console message from my last install of just the 10.6.8 combined upate (without using software update) and if someone on here who can make sense of these messages can see a problem or offer a solution, then that would also be greatly appreciated, thanks!

There really shouldn't be any problem downloading that combo update unless you've got a very slow or flaky connection. And Windows doesn't play as well with Mac files as the Mac does with Windows files; who knows what Windows might have done to the update's file integrity.
You might also try downloading the file using another browser such as Firefox. And when you have the updater, reboot into Safe Mode and then run the updater. That way you can be sure there isn't third party software somehow interfering with the update while it's tinkering with the guts of OS X.

  • Problems installing Adobe Air and BBC iPlayer Desktop

Problems installing Adobe Air and BBC iPlayer Desktop
I'm running Windows 7 32 bit on an ASUS netbook with 2mb ram. I installed both  Air 3.7 and BBC iPlayer Desktop using Google Chrome. I downloaded 3 BBC programmes. Two ran fine but the third wouldn't start and I kept getting a message to try again later. I deleted this programme and downloaded it again, with the same result.
So I uninstalled both Air and the BBC iPlayer Desktop, the Air exe file and the two folders at the following locations:
    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\   and
    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\BBCiPlayerDesktop.xxx
Since doing this each time I try to install Air either on its own or with the BBC iPlayer software I get the message part way through installation:
    "Sorry, an error has occurred.
An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
I have run the Microsoft Fix it programme and still get the same result.
I have tried everything on your Trouble Shooting page apart from the bit about the elevated command prompt, but as I'm the sole user and administrator, that seems unnecessary.
I have closed Chrome and tried installation using Windows Explorer but with the same result.
I have tried all the above with Microsoft Security Essentials running and disabled. And I have tried the same with Astrill on and off.
I have had a response from the BBC with much the same advice as appears on your trouble shooting page.
Here is the Air installation log, followed by the MSI log.

  • Problem Installing P6 v7 Standalone on Windows 7 64 bit

I am having serious problems installing P6v7 on Windows 7 64 bit, as a Standalone.
I've installed the Oracle database, version 10g, with no problems
When I come to install the P6 software as a standalone installation on a laptop it keeps trying to link to the SQL database - as opposed to Oracle for Standalone - and I end up stuck with it asking for a password to the SQL database {the username is already locked as "sa"}, no standard passwords get me through.
According to my supplier this has happened a few times to others and they are "working on a fix"
Any advice would be most welcome.

    Hi DeborahZ,
Truthfully, I have nothing else to suggest other than what you have tried. You can however call HP tech support to see if they are able to offer you a discount on a newer model. If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
