Problem installing SAP solution Manager

Hello,
I want to install SAP Solution Manager on a LINUX system.
My system information is:
>uname -a
Linux sapsolm1 2.6.9-67.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP Fri Nov 30 11:57:43 EST 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
If I follow the installation manual and start sapinst nothing happens as you could see in the log below. If I start "./startInstGui.sh" I get an error message. Does any body have an idea what is wrong on my system why the installation GUI is not starting up?
I'll start the installation form the path: /backup/51032955/IM_LINUX_X86_64
The CD number I use is 51032955.

I suggest (to be clean) - start from the beginning.
Check the installation guide (http://service.sap.com/instguides) - it has a detailed section about what to remove in which directory.
Also check note 171356 - SAP software on Linux: Essential information for other things you need to install/configure (saplocales etc.)
Additionally check your distribution specifc configuration settings in note 722273 - Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4: Installation and upgrade (Redhat 4.x assumed).
Finally check note 861215 - Recommended Settings for the Linux on AMD64/EM64T JVM for the Java settings after you´ve done your installation.

Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 5) with Oracle 10g 10.2.0.1.0.
I have an Oracle error message :

I have gone thru with the notes and it didn't help me much.
I have used J2SDK 1.4.2_17 nad JCE_Policy-1.4.2 files.

Hi,
1. Did you select java path (Export CD/DVD) while intsallation? Check once again.
2. Add JAVA_HOME = Java path in environment variable.
3. What is the exact error, you got it, post error here.

R3load -testconnect failed while installing SAP Solution manager

I'm trying to install sap solution manager, it gets to "abap import" and then gives an error. I think there is a problem with database connection.

Install SAP Solution Manager with DEV instance in the same server (MCOD)

Hello, i would like to install SAP Solutions Manager together with DEV ECC 6.0 in the same host, DEV is currently installed and working fine.
I followed note 551915 to convert MS-SQL 2005 to MCOD (change of schema from dbo to dev) and worked fine. But when i am installing the SolMan through the sapinst i don´t see the option MCOD
The only option i am confussed is
MS SQL Server
Database reuse o - New Database (DBSID = SAPSID)
o - Use Existing Database
Database ID (DBSID)
Witch option should i choose to perform a MCOD installation? new db or use existing db (DEV)?

Error when installing sap solution manager

Dear all,
When i am installing SAP solution manager (SAP SOLMAN 7.0 EHP1SR1 WINDOWS_X86_64), I meet the following error:
An error occurred while processing option SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EhP1 > SAP Systems > MS SQL Server > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step: ABAP processes of instance S01/DVEBMGS00 [ABAP: UNKNOWN] did not start after 10:30 minutes. Giving up.). You can now:
Choose Retry to repeat the current step.
Choose Log Files to get more information about the error.
Stop the option and continue with it later.
Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN/SYSTEM/MSS/CENTRAL/AS.
Do anyone meet the same error before? Please help...

I had a similar issue because the size of the pagiing file, after increase the size of paging file to 20Gb, I solved the issue in my system. The instance wasn't up because the size of paging file.

A problem on Sap Solution Manager

Hi all,
I got a problem with Sap Solution manager and i hope that you will be able to help me
Ill try to do my best to be understood in English =)
So, here is my goal :
I want to use SolMan as a workbench for test with eCATT. I made a very simple test with the transaction SECATT : A script for a customer creation by the transaction XD01.
This script works well, so Ive done the test configuration, the Test data and the system data.
At this point, I dont have any problem. If I launch the test, it works. (Important point maybe : I work in remote from an environnement dedicated to SolMan toward a production one).
When I try to put this test in SolMan, there appear my problems.
I dont really know SolMan for the moment, but it seems that I have to begin by the transaction SOLAR01 which lead me to the Business blueprint change. But I cant modify anything in it, as the system always tells me the following error : You cannot change (or There are no) Structure nodes.
Maybe Im not going in the good way, but I try every transaction in SolMan, like Configuration, Test plan management or project overview & Administration. I filled all field I could, but its not working for the moment.
I just want to know how to get my test in a workbench, in a test plan on SolMan
Can you help me ?

What I understand from your contribution: You do not seem to have a problem working with the Test Workbench in general but would like to know how to work with the Test Workbench as integral part of SAP Solution Manager.
The basic idea of SAP Solution Manager is that you have the possibility of doing a process-oriented testing (instead of straight module or functioned-oriented testing with regular Test Workbench functionality).
This is why in SAP Solution Manager you would start of with setting up a project (in transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN), in which you define a process-oriented blueprint structure in the next step (transaction SOLAR01) and attach test cases to your process-oriented structure (in transaction SOLAR02) afterwards.

Error installing SAP Solution Manager 4.0 (SP13) End to End Diagnostic Agen

Hi,
I'm installing SMD Agent on Solaris SPARC 10 64 bits/Oracle. Software version SMDAGENT13_0-20001428.SAR.
The problem appears when I type in the sceen:
SMD Agent User: smdadm
SMD Agent User ID: 8000
SMD Agent Group: sapsys
Pwd SMD Agent: six characters( I've used pwd of different length, but the error follows so I think the problem isn't pwd)
When I type unix command:
>id
uid=0(root) gid=0(root)
The error that appears is:
FSL-01002 Unable to create account user="smdadm" uid="8000". UX: Usr/sbin/useradd: ERROR:Unable to create home directory

Error in installation of Sap Solution Manager - AIX / Oracle

We are installing SAP Solution Manager in Operating System is AIX 5.3 and Database System is Oracle 10.2
After the Oracle Installation, in the phase of Abap Import (16 of 44), we are
receiving the follow error message:

The current version is SAP Solution Manager 4.0 with enhanced functionality, mainstream maintenance until 31.03.2011, SAP Netweaver 2004s Basis, ....

License for Java stack in SAP Solution Manager

I installed SAP Solution Manager (ABAP+Java), have ordered the SAP License and applied the license for ABAP part (Tcode: slicense).
Do I also need to update/license the Java Part of my system in Visual Administration?
(Server 0 0_30826 .. --> Licensing Adapter --> choose Tab "Installed Licenses")

In a double-stack installation, only the license keys in WebAS ABAP is relevant. You do not require a license key for WebAS Java for a double-stack installation.
If a license key was installed in WebAS Java, it does not have an effect on the function of the system. You can ignore warnings about expired or soon to expire license keys in WebAS Java.

Iam implementing /installing SAP Solution Manager 4.0 in our scenario in a day/two. My query is tat do we need to install it APAP + JAVA based only or can we install it ABAP based only?
Secondly i needed good self prepared document for SAP Solution Manager 4.0 installation which gives me step wise step procedure in detail.Plz dont give service marketplace link as i hv already seen and checked installion guide over it ,act. i wanted self prepared doc which is of more use. 1. Please suggest us which is the suitable Solution manager version for our environment?
2. What are the pre-requisites and needful steps to take before starting the installation?
3. Where can I get complete step by step documents for this activity?
4. Which OS & DB is suitable for our environment?

Can I also ask for some confirmation about a couple of things. I have looked at the SAP documents but I can't find a definite answer to these questions:
1. David Kroone - you say that Solution manager should be set up on a new server but I understand that it is possible to run it on one of our existing R/3 servers. Is this correct? Does anyone have any comments about this?
2. David - you also say that we can pick any OS & DB for the Solution Manager server. We are running R/3 on Oracle/Solaris but would prefer to run Solution Manager on a Windows server running SQLServer. Is this definitely OK? (it would be cheaper though you advise that using the same platform could make it simpler - is this because Solution Manager works better on the same platform or is it just because we would then have a more homogeneous environment?)
3. We are currently on 4.7 but plan to move to ECC6 this summer. We want (need?) to install Solution Manager before we upgrade to ECC6. Should this affect our decision in anyway?
Sorry to re-ask the same questions but it's difficult to find a precise answer in the SAP documents.
