Problem of remote connection on MySql Server from Mac OSX

Hi everyone,
I have a flash application that work on both plateforms Pc and Mac. In this application i do a connection to a MySqlDatabase to activate it.
so, to make my tests i have a pc and mac on the same home network
to make sure it works fine, i have installed EasyPhp on my PC and MAMP on the Mac, to be able to test the connection to local MySqlServer.
the syntaxe that i use to connect to the database is this one :
mdm.Database.MySQL.connect(host:String, port:String, compression:Boolean, userName:String, password:String, databaseName:String)
So, to connect to local MySqlServer : i have this code:
mdm.Database.MySQL.connect("localhost", "3306", true, "root", "", "DBName");
and it work just fine on the PC using EasyPhp and on the Mac using MAMP. I can connect on my database on each plateform.
So now, i want to connect to our remote MySqlServer, so, to connect to our Private server : i have this code:
mdm.Database.MySQL.connect("64.150.160.230", "3306", true, "userName", "userPassword", "DBName");
on the PC: it works just fine, i am able to connect to our database and do queries on our private server.
on the Mac : it cannot connect... errore message: unable to connect to server
I really don't know where it is coming from.
I would like to test a connexion to my remote MySqlDatabase, by sinf just the terminal. Does anyone know the syntaxe to use to connect to a remote MySqlDatabase using the Terminal?
It can be a blocked port on my Mac, because i am able to connect with this port on my local MySql Server...
Any help will be welcome.
Best regards.

  • Problem printing to a PC based HP from MAC OSX 10.3.9 w/ router

    I have the following Belkin Router; F5D7230-4. The router is hardwired to the PC and has a F380 (F300 series) HP printer USB hardwired. I also have a iMAC G5 OS x 10.3.9 which is online, connected to the router via a ethernet cable. I have no wireless airport card installed on MAC
    I want to be able to print to the HP printer from the MAC but i am having problems, it will not print. I have the relevant drivers installed on the PC - printing from PC is fine. On the MAC i am using the relevant hpijs.pdd file downloaded from the web to act as the driver. (At least i think this is the relevant .pdd file / driver?)
    When i try to print from the MAC, the PC DOES recognise the MAC as a guest and the printer loads up ready to print, but then the job freezes and does not complete. Even if i try to cancel the job is still freezes, so i have to turn off the printer to clear the status.
    My guess is that the drivers on the MAC are not installed correctly? But its strange that the printer actually boots up ready to print, then freezes. Can anyone assist?
    Much appreciated for looking
    Ben
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    I think I understand that you have the printer somehow connected to the router? However, I thought the printer was a USB device. What happens you connect the printer to a PC USB port and turn on printer sharing?
    As best I could determine at Belkin's web site is that your router doesn't even have a USB port. Exactly how is the printer connected to the router?
    What happens if the printer is connected to the Mac's USB port directly? Does it work then?

    The physical setup should be:
    1. Cable or DSL service line connects to IN port on the modem.
    2. The modem's WAN port is connected via Ethernet (CAT5) cable to the WAN port on the router.
    3. Each Ethernet device (each computer) is connected to the router's LAN ports by Ethernet cable.
    The router should be configured to have its DHCP server activated (this is usually the default configuration.) Each computer should have its network preferences configured to use DHCP.
    Most routers issue IP addresses in the 192.168.xxx.xxx range. If you have a valid connection between the computer and router then the computer's IP address will be in this range. If the IP address begins with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx, then it's an invalid address and means the computer is not connecting properly to the router. The router should get its IP address from your ISP service.
    After all the hardware connections have been setup you should configure the computers' network preferences then turn everything off for at least one minute. Then in sequence first turn on the modem and wait until the status lights indicate a connection to the ISP; next turn on the router and wait until its status light indicates communication with the modem; last turn on the computers.

  • New install issue-unable to connect to DB server from a remote client.

    Hi experts,
    I am new to setting up oracle server so pls bear with me...
    I setup a db server (11g on top of 64bit Oracle Linux) at home (static 192.168.1.90). I verified that db, listener are up and running. However, I tried to connect to the server from a different client machine (192.168.1.108) within my home network but the server cannot be reached. I was able to ping both client and server using the IP addresses and hostnames. I followed the following steps to perform troubleshooting but was unable to move on beyond step 3, telnet-ing the server on port 1521. Can someone help me out what I should do make the port # (1521) is reachable by the client?
    1. Check with "ping" using the IP address ("ping 198.11.34.43"
    2. Check with "ping" using DNS name (e.g. "tnsping uranus")
    3. Try telnet to the IP on port 1521 (telnet 1.2.3.4 1521)
    4. Check with "tnsping" using TNS service name
    5. Invoke SQL*Plus from the OS command line "sqlplus fred@flintstone". If this fails, check to ensure that your listener is the flintstone service defined.
    6. Sign-on to SQL*Plus and connect with the TNS name ("connect fred/flintstome@service_name"
    7. Within SQL*Plus, try a select from table@remote_db_link
    thanks a lot in advance.

    Is COPY & PASTE broken for you?
    It is really, Really, REALLY difficult to fix a problem that can not be seen.
    use COPY & PASTE so we can see what you do & how Oracle responds.

  • Need help on remote connection to mysql

    Hi all,
    I am trying to make a remote JDBC connection from a servlet running on one linux server to mySql running on another Linux Server.
    I get the following error :
    java.sql.SQLException: Cannot connect to MySQL server on <Linux_server2_IP>:3306. Is there a MySQL server running on the machine/port you are trying to connect to? (java.net.ConnectException)
    I did the following on mySql on Linux-2 :-
    GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES TO myuser@<myLinux-1-IP> IDENTIFIED BY 'pwd' WITH GRANT OPTION;
    I checked the user table and it had an entry for 'myuser' with my myLinux1-IP. The entry had 'N' for all the priv fields.
    I manually updated the priv fields to 'Y' and did :
    FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
    I also added an entry to host table to see if that helped.
    I restarted my mySqld.
    None of these worked !
    I'd really appretiate your help...
    Thanks,
    Spotty8A.

    It doesn't sound like a user privilege problem... that will generally give you a USER_AUTHENTICATION_FAILED error or something along those lines. It seems more like the driver can't detect a MySQL server on the IP/port you're specifying.
    Assuming you didn't change the default port to anything different, the most likely source of the problem is your connection URL... you might double check that the IP you specified is correct.

  • Remote connection to MySQL

    I am trying in Java to connect remotely to a database and use the following code:
    import java.io.*;
    import java.lang.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class Test {
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    Connection con = null;
    try {
    Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance ();
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://llsti.org:3306/universalaccess?user=*****&password=****");
    if(!con.isClosed())
    System.out.println("Successfully connected to " +
    "MySQL server using TCP/IP...");
    } catch(Exception e) {
    System.err.println("Exception: " + e.getMessage());
    } finally {
    try {
    if(con != null)
    con.close();
    } catch(SQLException e) {}
    But it doesnt do anything.. it compiles properly but then it just stuck in getConnection(). it doesnt print thereafter.
    Any suggestion would be of great help.

    Hi,
    So what network settings I am suppose to perform? I
    would be really greatful for any more suggestions.
    I cannot put this really any clearer because it's been told to you before. You are getting a 2003 error. This is what the MySQL site has to say about that error.
    The error (2003) Can't connect to MySQL server on 'server' (10061) indicates that the network connection has been refused. You should check that there is a MySQL server running, that it has network connections enabled, the network port you specified is the one configured on the server, and that the TCP/IP port you are using has not been blocked by a firewall or port blocking service.
    Please talk to your local network administrator and/or the administrator of the MySQL database for assistance. Either the database is not listening on that port or there is a firewall blocking your access either at your end or at the server end.
    This is NOT a Java problem. You cannot connect using any other tool to this database.

  • Problem with shares on Windows 2003R2 server from a Windows 8.1 PC

    I'm having problem with shares on Windows 2003R2 server from a Windows 8.1 PC.  It times out when I try to copy a file from my PC to the server and I get an error message saying "There is a problem accessing network drive W:\. Make sure you are
    connected to the network and try again."
    I have no problem copying files from the server to the PC.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    How about your problem now? Have you test other machine also installed Windows 8.1? Did they have this problem?
    To diagnose this problem, firstly, please check Windows 2003R2 firewall settings, also can disable firewall temporarilly for test.
    Secondly, try to use Network Monitor to capture network communication package for test.

  • How to Configure Remote Connections To SQL Server 2008 R2 Express

    Post written June 10, 2010 and pertains to:
    SQL Server 2008 R2 Express on both my server and local machines: SQLX_SRV,
    SQLX_LOC
    SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio on both my server and local machines:
    MS_SRV, MS_LOC
    Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise installed on a Hyper-V VPS: WS
    SQL Server Configuration Manager on both my server and local machines:
    CMGR_SRV, CMGR_LOC
    Server Manager: SMGR
    I am connecting to my hosting server via Remote Desktop Connection: RDC
    I installed SQLX_SRV and MS_SRV on my hosting server and SQLX_LOC and MS_LOC on my local development machine.  I am able to use MS_LOC to connect to SQLX_LOC and to use MS_SRV to connect to SQLX_SRV.  However I am not able to use MS_LOC to connect
    with SQLX_SRV.  Here's what I have done so far:
    SMGR -> Configuration -> Windows Firewall to turn off the Windows Firewall for Domain, Private and Public profiles.  Obviously I'll change this later, but until I can connect I want to remove as many variables as possible.
    CMGR_SRV -> SQL Server Services to confirm that both SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) and SQL Server Browser services were running.
    CMGR_SRV -> SQL Server Network Configuration -> Protocols for SQLEXPRESS to ENABLE the Shared Memory, Named Pipes, and TCP/IP protocols and DISABLE the deprecated VIA protocol.
    CMGR_SRV -> SQL Server Network Configuration -> Protocols for SQLEXPRESS -> double click TCP/IP to open the TCP/IP properties dialogue.  On the Protocol tab Enabled: Yes, Keep Alive: 30000, changed Listen All to No.  I've tried it both
    ways, but I've got six IP addresses on my server and I wanted to configure SQLEXPRESS to listen to only the first and primary IP.  On the IP Addresses tab went to IPALL and cleared the TCP Dynamic Ports field and entered 1433 in the TCP Port field.
    For my first and primary IP Address I made sure that Enabled was Yes, I cleared the TCP Dynamic Ports field, and entered 1433 in the TCP Port field.  For all other IP Addresses Enabled was set to No and I cleared both the TCP Dynamic Ports and TCP Port
    fields.
    CMGR_SRV -> SQL Server Services -> SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) right click and Restart.  This of course stopped and restarted my instance of SQLX_SRV enabling the TCP/IP configuration in the previous step to take effect.
    On my server, SQLX_SRV is the only instance of SQL Server running and so it's easy to hard wire it to the default port 1433.
    The instance name for both SQLX_SRV and SQLX_LOC is the default "SQLEXPRESS".  My server machine name is "SERVER1" on the EnglishBrains.com domain.  So the proper local name (local within the context of my remote server as connected via RDC) for
    my instance of SQLX_SRV would be:
    SERVER1\SQLEXPRESS
    Note the use of a backslash NOT a forward slash.
    Of course to connect remotely from my development machine, which is not on the same domain as my hosting server, I would need to specify the domain as well, so the SQL Server name becomes:
    SERVER1.EnglishBrains.com\SQLEXPRESS
    I must also use SQL Server Authentication.  Before I can use such a remote connection, however, there are still several configuration steps required.  So on my server (connected via RDC) I used MS_SRV to connect to SQLX_SRV using SERVER1\SQLEXPRESS
    for the server name and Windows Authentication.  Once connected I performed the following steps:
    MS_SRV -> right click the connected parent SERVER1\SQLEXPRESS instance node at the top -> Properties -> Security -> Server authentication: select "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode".  This will enable connections using either type
    of authentication.
    Next, leaving the Server Properties dialogue open, Connections -> check "Allow remote connections to this server" box.
    Click OK to save these changes and close the Server Properties dialogue.
    MS_SRV -> Security -> right click Logins and select "New Login...", the Login - New dialogue opens.
    On the General page Enter a name for your new login
    Select SQL Server Authorization
    Enter and confirm a password
    Uncheck Enforce password expiration
    Select the default Database and Language
    On the ServerRoles page Public will be checked, also check SysAdmin.  This is probably not a good idea and I'll uncheck this as soon as I can connect to the SQLX_SRV.
    On the User Mapping page select the databases you want your new Login to access and enter the Default Schema of "dbo".
    At the bottom of the User Mapping page you'll see the Database Roles table.  Public will be selected by default.  Also select db_Owner.  Again this is probably not a good idea, and I'll refine this once I can connect.
    On the Status page confirm that "Grant" is checked under "Permission to connect to database engine" and "Enable" is checked under "Login".
    Click OK to save all changes and close the Login - New dialogue.
    With these steps completed you should now be able to use MS_SRV to connect to SQLX_SRV using SQL Server Authentication by supplying the name and password for your new Login.  I tried this and it worked fine.  Next I tried to use this same login
    remotely, that is I went to my local development machine and used MS_LOC to try and connect to SQLX_SRV by using
    SERVER1.EnglishBrains.com\SQLEXPRESS
    and opting for SQL Server Authentication and supplying the name and password of my new login.
    THIS DID NOT WORK??  Instead I get the following error message:
    Cannot connect to SERVER1.EnglishBrains.com\SQLEXPRESS.
    A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider:

    http://www.microsoft.com/products/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=-1
    If you follow the suggested help link, you are told:
    The SQL Server client cannot connect to the server.  This error could be caused by one of the following reasons:
    A specified SQL Server instance name is not valid.
    The TCP, or named pipes protocols are not enabled.
    The firewall on the server has refused the connection.
    The SQL Server Browser service (sqlbrowser) is not started.
    WRONG on all 4 counts!  The instance name IS valid.  Both TCP/IP and Named Pipes protocols are enabled.  The firewall has been shut down, so it is not relevant.  Finally the SQL Server Browser IS started.
    The next thing I tried was to circumvent discovery by the SQL Browser service by using the following syntax to specify the IP address and port directly when specifying the SQL Server name.
    tcp:68.71.134.186,1433
    Using this in the Server Name field I was able to use MS_SRV to successfully connect to SQLX_SRV (using SQL Server Authentication of course) with or without the SQL Browser service running.
    However when I tried to connect from MS_LOC to SQLX_SRV using this same login (WITH SQL Browser service running just for good measure) it does not work??  I get the following error message:
    Cannot connect to tcp:68.71.134.186,1433.
    A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider:
    TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 10060)
    For help, click:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=10060&LinkId=20476
    If you follow the help link you are told:
    "The SQL Server client cannot connect to the server. This error could occur because either the firewall on the server has refused the connection or the server is not configured to accept remote connections."
    However, the firewall has been shut down and the server HAS been configured to accept remote connections!
    I confirmed that i could indeed Ping to 68.71.134.186  and running NetStat -a |find /i "listening" on the server shows that the server is indeed listening at 68.71.134.186 Port 1433 -- which is why I was able to connect to SQLX_SRV using MS_SRV with
    tcp:68.71.134.186,1433 .
    IN SUMMARY: Even though I can connect to my SQLEXPRESS instance multiple ways from the server itself, I cannot connect remotely from my development machine!
    If anyone can help me figure out why I would be very, very grateful!

    My two cents to help you out on c# code example to configure the remote sql server express.
    Hope it helps. It works, but you have to be extra carefull to read it all and setup the server configuration and netsh commands; also the port fowarding on the router.
    using System;

    class Program
    static void Main(string[] args)
    // this is the local sql server connection
    // 192.168.1.101\SQLEXPRESS
    // now, the configuration for remote access:
    // activate SQL SERVER BROWSER - set it to start "automatic"; then START UP
    // SQL Server Configuration Manager
    // --> SQL SERVER BROWSER -> properties -> Service -> Start Mode -> automatic -> apply
    // --> Log On -> Start -> Ok

  • Failure when connecting MS SQL SERVER from ODI ! could not load JDBS driver

    i have some trouble with connecting MS SQL SERVER from ODI.
    I have already downland jdbs driver 3.0 (and 2.0 ) and copy the sqljdbc4.jar to D:\oracle\product\11.1.1\Oracle_ODI_1\oracledi\agent\drivers( where the oracle jdbs driver is already exitst )....but i have this error :
    could not load JDBS driver class..
    thanks

    After more investigation and even more chocolate, we've identified the problem and it's now working. For anyone else who strikes this problem in future, here's something to check/consider/try:
    Even though Squirrel SQL Client was connecting and working ok using the MS JDBC driver (v 3.0), it recorded this in its logs:
    Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" and "Latin1_General_CI_AS" in the INTERSECT operation.
    We've found that the open source jTDS driver does not have the same issue as the Microsoft one.
    We've installed the current jTDS driver, recorded the driver name (net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver) and the JDBC URL (jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://<hostname>:1433/<database>) and the connection is now working fine.
    Hope this helps other people...
    Thanks to those of you who offered suggestions and things to check...much appreciated.

  • Unable to connect to Admin Server from second machine using WLST

    Hello,
    PROBLEM
    Can't get WLST to connect to admin server from 2nd host to register the domain.
    SETUP
    I have 2 Centos VMs running on Oracle Virtual box in a single laptop. Both the VMs use "Bridged Networking".
    VM-1 CONFIG
    cat /etc/hosts
    192.168.1.17
    dom1 dom1.my mac1
    192.168.1.51
    centos2 mac2
    VM-1 hosts admin server & one managed server
    VM-2 CONFIG
    192.168.1.51
    mac2
    192.168.1.17
    centos1 mac1
    VM-2 hosts just one managed server
    I can start up admin on VM-1 fine. The node manager is reachable too. Both the VMs are can be pinged from each other. I can also telnet to the admin server's port ( telnet 192.168.1.17 7001) from the second server.
    My HOST OS is Windows 7. I can ping from windows to both the VM IPs too. The reverse is working fine as well.
    I've tried both mechanisms of copying the whole domain from machine 1 over to machine2 & also using the pack.sh/unpack.sh combinations to transfer the domains.
    When I invoke WLST, this is what happens
    ./wlst.sh

    Kind Regards

    Hi Raj,
    Issue is with NM registry with domain home. Please follow the below steps and let us know the status.
    1 . Check whether the node manager port ( default 5556 ) is opened for communication on both Admin and Managed server.
    2 . After opening the port - We would need to enroll the node manager home with domain home to establish the communication between Admin and Managed server.
       a .  Start the Administration Server.
       b .  Using the Administration Console update the Node Manager credentials from the Advanced options under domain_nameArrow symbolSecurityArrow symbolGeneral.
       c .  Invoke WLST and connect to an Administration Server using the connect command. See Using the WebLogic Scripting Tool in WebLogic Scripting Tool.
       d .  Run nmEnroll using the following syntax:
            nmEnroll([domainDir], [nmHome])
    Running nmEnroll() ensures that the correct Node Manager user and password token are supplied to each Managed Server. Once these are available for each Managed Server, you can use nmConnect() in a production environment.
    Note:     You must run nmEnroll() on each machine that is running a Managed Server. Additionally, you should run nmEnroll() for each domain directory on each machine.
    For more info : General Node Manager Configuration
    Thanks
    Lakshman
