Problem on JRE 6u13 deployment silently
Hello,
I am having an issue when deploying jre-6u13 to my clients silently. If users are logged in and have any IE open, the install prompts them to close the browsers before it will continue.
This is the command line I am using to deploy JRE 6u13 silently.
jre-6u13-windows-i586-p-s.exe /s ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 MOZILLA=1 REBOOT=Supress
Is there any method to solve this issue in order to avoid user interaction?
B. regards,
Rick

Is there any method to solve this issue in order to avoid user interaction? You misspelled the last option. It should be REBOOT=Suppress
BTW, you can always kill IE using the following command (this works on MS Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, don't know for other systems):
taskkill /im iexplore.exe /fActually the deployment is best done by a Windows startup script.
E.g. put the following lines in a .cmd file and make it run at system startup by cmd.exe.
rem - This script installs Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE).
rem - Successfully tested on MS Windows XP Professional SP3.
eventcreate /l application /so "%~n0%~x0" /t information /id 1 /d "Starting %~f0"
rem - Directory path of this script.
set p=%~d0%~p0
rem - Exit the script if the log file exists.
set log_file=%systemdrive%\install_jre.log
if exist %log_file% goto :eof
rem - Run the JRE installer silently and create a log file.
rem - (Set another path if the installer is not in the directory of this script)
"%p%jre-6u13-windows-i586-p-s.exe" /log %log_file% /s ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 MOZILLA=1 REBOOT=Suppress
rem - Disable Java Updater.
reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" /v SunJavaUpdateSched /f
eventcreate /l application /so "%~n0%~x0" /t information /id 1 /d "%~f0: Done"
goto :EOFThe script does nothing if the specified log file exists.
The log file is created by the JRE installer at the first invocation of the script.
You can check the log file for installation results and delete it if you want to repeat the installation.

Automatic Update - deployment.properties problems with JRE 1.6.0_05
Hi!
This is a Automatic Updated daisable problem.
I have change the update policy values in the registry but still have one more problem:
I want to deploy JRE 1.6.0_05, in earlier versions ie 1.4 there has been a windows\sun\java\deployment where the initian deployment.properties file is located. But in the 1.6.X ther is no such folder and the deployment.properies file is still "copied" when you start ie "javacpl.exe" . I would like to disable the
choice "Download JRE automatically" in the javacpl.exe to "Never download..." but the initial choice when the file deployment.properties is created is "alway download..." .
Am I still save only with the registry key changes, or do I have to change the value in the deployment.properies and if so, where is the "original" copy that copies the file into C:\Document and Settings\[user]\Application data\Sun\Java\Deployment\
kindly,
manekin...Hey lynchmob,
Try these steps to correct the problem, you need to be logged in as an administrator:
1. Go to the group policy editor. You can get they by typing gpedit.msc into the Run dialog.
2. Navigate to computer configuration->administrative templates->windows components->internet explorer.
3. Disable "make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user)".
4. Login with the user account and go to Internet Options.
5. Go to the Connection tab.
6. Click on the Lan Settings button.
7. You may notice that the proxy settings are not correct. Change the proxy settings to be whatever is required for your proxy.
8. Configure Java to use browser proxy settings.
9. Open the java console.
10. Set debug level to 5.
11. Press 'p' to reload proxy settings. Use the trace messages to verify correct proxy settings were loaded. -
Problems in GP Transport - Deployment of SDA
Hi,
I am facing problems when I am deploying the SDA file which I have created for GP. The first time I deployed the SDA file, it was showing me the objects inside a folder and I was able to release them. But on subsequent deployment, I was just getting the folder name in the Design time, and nothing inside that. I mean the folder was empty. I tried deploying the SDA file after deleting the folder from Design Time and Undeploying the previously deployed SDA file. But nothing works as I am getting an empty folder always.
Hope someone will have an answer
Cheers
MadhuWhen a same SDA file is going to be deployed in GP, make sure the folders are removed from the Deleted Items folder as well.

Mouse pointer problems in JRE 1.4.0
Does anyone else see a problem with JRE 1.4.0 when using the 3D style mouse pointers in Windows 98? If I use the default 3d mouse pointers that came with Windows, the menus and other areas of the java GUIs draw a square any time you click on something. If I set my mouse pointer to the Windows Standard I do not see this problem.
I am currently having this problem in plugin 1.3.1 which
is what we will be implementing. We have to update the
video drivers on a number of machines to correct the problem.
I tried the 1.4.0 and it seemed to clear up but we won't use this version until a full general release is available.
Another fix is to turn off the mouse shadow.
We are running windows 2000. -

HTTP transport error: java.net.ConnectException: Tried all:
'1' addresses, but could not connect over HTTP to server: *'localhost', port: '7101*
I believe when you are deploying the application through the Jdev on the Integrated Server , the server is running on the same machine with the address and port as : localhost and 7101.
However when you are using the same application to deploy on Web Logic Server 11gR1 which is not integrated server, then you much check what is the hostname and port of the Server from the config.xml file and make change in the capaMedia.jsp accordingly.

Odd Problem With MDT 2012 Deployment
Disclaimer: I'm an MDT n00b and barely know how to do anything other than the basics.
The odd problem: Computers that I deploy Windows 7 to using MDT will NOT (after deployement is complete) pass credentials to our proxy (Smoothwall - NTLM Authentication) and cannot not access the internet. It doesn't matter the flavor of Windows
7: 32bit/64bit or Pro/Ultimate same result. Does this on an unpatched machine with only IE8 or a fully patched machine with IE9. I've diddled all the security and connection settings in IE that I know to diddle with the same result. And it's not
just an IE problem. It does it with Firefox, too. Now getting to intranet sites is no problem... this is strictly an internet proxy authentication issue.
Now... why am I asking the MDT forum about this? Because I can load Windows 7 the old fashioned way with a DVD made from the same ISO that I used when setting up MDT and it works fine.
So MDT must be doing something differently when deploying Win 7. As a side note, when I deploy Windows 8 using MDT we do not have this issue. Maybe Microsoft just wants me to upgrade? :)
Everything else about the computer seems quite normal. No undetected drivers. Windows activates normally. I can join the domain either during or after the process. Install applications automatically. I mean the whole MDT process
seems to be working great otherwise.
Help? Please?Yes, I found a way to undo this in my environment without needing to reimage all of the computers.
There are two problems:
1. GP items in the Administrative Template were modified.
2. GP items in the Security section were modified.
Problem 1
To address problem #1 delete the folder "%SystemRoot%\System32\GroupPolicy":
rd /s /q "%SystemRoot%\System32\GroupPolicy"
Problem 2
To address problem #2, it gets a little more complicated since there is no easy way to "revert" to the default in Win7. The only workaround is to import new settings. To accomplish this, I ran the following from a FRESHLY installed non-domain
joined computer that did not have the local GPO pack applied:
secedit /export /cfg secConf.inf
Then on the "bad" system that had the local GPO applied, I ran:
secedit /configure /db secedit.sdb /cfg secConf.inf /overwrite /quiet
I also found that I needed to delete the following keys since they did not exist on my safe/good image:
reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /v "DisableCAD" /f
reg delete "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa" /v "LmCompatibilityLevel" /f
reg delete "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa" /v "SCENoApplyLegacyAuditPolicy" /f
And for some reason (and this was not consistent), I also found that I needed to delete the following on some systems:
reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU" /f
Full Solution
Here is everything I ran against my "bad" systems that were domain joined in production use:
Batch File
rd /s /q "%SystemRoot%\System32\GroupPolicy"
secedit /configure /db secedit.sdb /cfg "%~dp0SecurityPolicies-Defaults.inf" /overwrite /quiet
reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /v "DisableCAD" /f
reg delete "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa" /v "LmCompatibilityLevel" /f
reg delete "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa" /v "SCENoApplyLegacyAuditPolicy" /f
reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU" /f

Problems with JRE installation 1.6.0_18 in silent mode
Hi!
I have problems with installing the JRE from the cmd line in silent mode and in a directory with spaces in the path.
If I remove the spaces in the INSTALLDIR, the JRE installs in the directory I have specified but not when I use spaces in the path.
The command I run is following:
jre-6u18-windows-i586.exe /s /v"/qn INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files (x86)\company\product test\java\""
all I get is the help window to the windows installer with the different options. What am I missing?
BR,
/PeterHi
You should install this Patch:
Patch 13948973: JDEV 11.1.1.6.0 FREEZES IN CUSTOMIZATION MODE DUE TO DEADLOCK
After the installation the JDev works fine again.

Problem with JRE and Yahoo applets
Hi, I couldn't find any answer for this anywhere else...
Whenever I try to play a Yahoo game, certain windows will "shake". For example, if I log into yahoo, then go to play their spades game, the applet will load without any problem. The game room will appear and everything seems to be fine. But if I click on the Start Panel, the borders of the Start menu will "shake" If I right click on anything, that menu will also shake. This only occurs while JRE is running the yahoo applet. Once I leave the yahoo game, everything returns to normal. If I use IE and MSVM, this problem does not occur. This problem does not seem to occur with other instances of Java either. Only Yahoo games. I tried searching Yahoo for an answer to this, but didn't find anything. When I tried getting help from them, they replied with an email to update Java and/or my browsers. Well, I am using version 1.4.2_04 of java, and have IE6 updated as of today. Also, I am using Opera version 7.54 and Firefox 0.93. This problem with Java and Yahoo occurs no matter which browser I am using. The only way to keep this from happening seems to be to use IE with MSVM. Any ideas? That page does apply. Everything that you have written indicates conclusively that the Yahoo game you're playing is the source of the problem. The fact that it works with the MS jvm but not with the Sun jvm, that the Sun jvm works with other Java applets, etc all say the same thing - that Yahoo applets wer/are coded to work with the MS jvm, which uses MS extensions in violation of the Sun/MS licensing agreements. The statement at the bottom of the page is proof positive - your spades game is not listed by Yahoo as being fixed.
"07/17/03 - From Yahoo! Customer Care:
We have deployed a fix for the incompatibilities with the Sun JVM in the following games:
Chess Gin Cribbage Euchre Bridge
Hearts Toki Toki Boom Graffiti Pool
We plan to upgrade the rest of the games on an ongoing basis. "
The Yahoo applet is the problem and requires repair... -
ADF Tutorial: problem with chapter 10 (Deploying the Application)
Hi!
I'm learning from ADF Tutorial (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/ADFBC_tutorial_1013/index.htm) and I have problem with chapter 10. After deploying finished application on the server (OracleAS10g) I try to test it but I get this error everytime:
500 Internal Server Error
Servlet error: An exception occured. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
I get this error after typing login credentials. I didn't consult the log, because I don't know where to look for it (could you tell me please?). I did everything as described in the Tutorial, but I know there are mistakes (in Tutorial), so I don't know what to do.
Thanks for any advices.Hi,
I'm running Windows XP, JDeveloper version 10.1.3.4.0, Oracle AS 10g version 10.1.3.4.0 with patch. When I tried to deploy same application on Windows Vista and OC4J, it work perfectly, which really confuses me. I think I found log file so I will post it here. It's long, I'm sorry about that:

Problem with CORBA application deployed using Java Web Start 1_6_0.
Java Web Start fans and experts:
We have been using Java Web Start to deploy the client side of a CORBA-based application since the inception of Java Web Start ... including Java Web Start 1.0 right up through the present.
With Java Web Start 1_6_0, we see evidence that Web Start is "tinkering with" the IOR that CORBA uses to communicate. In all previous versions of Java Web Start, independent of the JRE which the application uses, the stringified IOR have been the same size regardless of whether the application is deployed locally or via Java Web Start. With Java Web Start 1_6_0, the stringified IOR is much longer than the "real" IOR (again, regardless of the JRE used by the application itself). To me this smells like a bug in Java Web Start 1_6_0. Has anyone else observed this behavior?
Here are some specifics .... I've run the same client application with various JREs both with and without Java Web Start as the deployment mechanism. The application was compiled and runs against servers that are running JDK 1_5_0_09.
Here is the summary of my results from a Linux box running various JREs, various versions of Java Web Start, and also running as a non-JWS deployed application. I've listed the length of the stringified IOR in each case.
JRE 1.5.0 non-JWS client: stringified IOR length = 344
JRE 1.6.0 non-JWS client: stringified IOR length = 344 ... this, I think, excludes the JRE as the cause of these problems.
Java WS 1.5.0, JRE 1.5.0 JWS client: stringified IOR length = 344
Java WS 1.5.0, JRE 1.6.0 JWS client: stringified IOR length = 344
Java WS 1.6.0, JRE 1.6.0 JWS client: stringified IOR length = 1568
Java WS 1.6.0, JRE 1.5.0 JWS cleint: stringified IOR length = 1568
In all cases, the stringified IOR length is determined by the service receiving the message and is always running JRE 1_5_9_09 and is
always the same 344 characters in length UNLESS it was deployed
using Java Web Start 1_6_0, in which case it in nearly 5 times as big!
To me, it sure looks as if there is a problem with Java Web Start 1_6_0 to be adding so much to the stringified IOR. Note: it's hard to tell how different the underlying IOR is in the JWS 1_6_0 case because, unlike most other ORBs, the Sun ORB doesn't have a tool to extract the IOR into a human readable structure. However, I can think of no good reason why the identical application deployed using Java Web Start 1_6_0 should have a stringified IOR length that is different than that of the same application deployed in non-JWS form or should differ from the behavior seen in all previous releases of Java Web Start.
Any clues or suggestions? Has anyone else observed this behavior?
Thanks,
JohnHi.
I got a different problem. My Corba application works in JRE 1.6, but doesn't works in JRE 1.5.X. I got an unexpected error and my console shows:

Problem Uninstalling JRE 1.4.2_01
Hi, i am having problems silently uninstalling JRE 1.4.2_01 on windows XP wonder if anyone can help, When running the silent uninstall command....... j2re-1_4_2_01-windows-i586.exe /s /v "/qn REBOOT=Suppress" /x......nothing happens.
I am trying to update the JRE from Build_05 to Build_28 of 1.4.2_01 for development reasons. I have tried overwritting the current installation using silent install and pointing the INSTALLLDIR to the existing one but get error " Incorrent Command line parameters" when running the silent install. Works fine when doing the install normally via the wizard but not using the silent commands.
Any help is much appreciated.
AriTwo things: Is there a document detailing manual removal of this JRE (and indeed others); you mention different 'builds' of the same JRE, this is the first time I have read that there are sub-versions/releases of a JRE. Where do I find out the available builds of this JRE and others and how they differ?

IE 7 problem with jre version 1.4.1
We are experiencing a problem with a site that is running java applets. It requires version 1.4.1. After logging into this site, a second window should appear. There are several times when that second window will attempt to open but then closes immediately. The only fix that I have found is to open the Java Console (tools>Sun Java Console) with the browser open and then immediately close the console.
Is there another workaround or fix?
ThanksStarting in JRE 5.0u7 and 6, we have family clsid support for the 1.4.2 and 5.0 JRE family. Please refer to Deploying Java Applets With Family JRE Versions in Java Plug-In for Internet Explorer for details. In your HTML page you can specify the 1.4.2 family clsid so that the latest installed JRE 1.4.2 version on the machine will be used. Note that we no longer support JRE 1.4.1. Please migrate your applet to JRE 1.4.2 or newer JRE versions.

Hi, I don't know whether this is the right forum for such a question nor if it is possible at all. We are facing the suitation where we have to deploy an application running on java5 to workstations (win98,win2000,winXP) who only have jre1.4 installed. We are not allowed to install java5 and would like to package the jre5 with our application. Is this possible at all? How would one do that? Any pointers would be very appreciated. Thanks Tom
Deploying the JRE with your application is simple. The JRE on windows is usually saved on the hard drive in:
C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.5.xx or something similar.
All you need to do is include that entire directory with your app and access the javaw command via a relative path from a .bat file or small .exe to start your app.
You should check the following link as it will show you how to oragnise your directory structure and you can download a free program which will give you a small .exe that will invoke the VM and start your app.
http://www.rolemaker.dk/nonRoleMaker/javalauncher/marner_java_launcher.htm
The whole directory containing your .jar/.class files and the JRE can then be zipped up and put onto to target machines or you could use any standard installer if it's going to be installed by non tech people.
Using this method you won't disturb the 1.4 java installation on the target machines. I deploy my apps this way. If you have any problems let me know
