Problem passing a value to a loop through a method?

I am simply trying to design a program that will offer a pop up menu and prompt the user to enter a digit 1-4. If the user enters a 1,2, or 3 I want the menu to pop up again. If the user enters a 4, I want the program to end.
I have created stubs for a few of these methods. However, I want to have a working version of the menu method.
When I run the program the program executes the start_program method stub and then the menu method executes and up pops the menu. However, when I type in a number, the menu disappears never to return...Unless I type in "4" and then the menu pops up again and upon typing "4" again, the program exits.
I am not sure if I have a poorly constructed loop or if I am improperly returning the value of the variable "number" back to the main method. Here is my code...I appreciate any and all help. Thanks,Ed

  • Passing multiple values in a parameter through IN operator

    hello everyone,
    i want to know wheather it is possible to pass multiple values to a report parameter and use the parameter in the query with the IN operator.
    I feel this should be possible but dont know the way.
    Pls help

    i have also suffered from this problem. you can solve it by creating a table like
    create table abc
    id number,
    value number;
    then follow the steps.
    1) insert all the values in this table by incrementing id and values
    2) then pass lowest id and larget id to the report
    3) now in report use the select statement like
    SELECT * FROM AAA WHERE ABC IN (SELECT VALUE FROM ABC WHERE ID BETWEEN V_MAX AND V_MIN)
    4) IN THE REPORT'S AFTER TRIGGER, YOU HAVE TO DELETE
    THESE TEMPORARILY CREATED ROWS
    LIKE
    DELETE ABC
    WHERE ID BETWEEN V_MAX AND V_MIN;
    SO THIS WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM.

  • BPEL : Problem Passing Header Values

    Hi All,
    I am facing problem in calling a web service from BPEL. This web service is anticipating specific values in header for WSA tags such as To, Action, MessageId and so on. I am setting these values for header in Invoke in Bpel. On test console on SOA server I can see these values being passed as a part of Invoke activity but they don't reach the Web Service. SOA suite version is 11.1.1.6
    Any input on this would be of great help.
    Thanks in Advance!!!

    "execution just seems to stop" -- by stop you mean the program exits, right? (Not hangs).
    How are you handling exceptions? You should have something like
        try {
            ...sql stuff...;
        } catch (SQLException e) {
            log the error with stack trace; // This is the important bit!
        } finally {
            if (results != null)  {
                try {
                    results.close();
                } catch (Exception e) {
                    log the error;
            ...close statement similarly...;
            ...close db connection similarly or return it to the connection pool...;
            // (I like to have small static close() functions for the
            // common closing patterns to keep the code more concise.)
        }With proper logging, you don't get unexpected silent program exits.
    (In command line programs, I like to do "catch(Exception)" or even "catch(Throwable)" at the top level main() function to make sure I get a stack trace; some others dislike such catches. Make your own compromise there.)
    Another thing: instead of doing
        workDay(results.getString(1),results.getString(2),results.getString(3), ...do this:
        String worker_name = results.getString(1);
        String job         = results.getString(2);
        String manager     = results.getString(3);
        ...etc...;
        workDay(worker_name, job, manager, ...etc...);Any stack traces will be more informative since the line number will show where the problem is.

  • Problem passing int values to Flash Islands

    ypos isn't the value of the column of hte dataSource itself. It is just an alias to hold the actual column name.  It therefore must be type STRING.  The columns in the dataSource will be created automatically with matching types from the WD Context - so they are int already if the context is type I.  For instance send an alert or check the value of ypos in the debugger.  You will see it contains the context attribute name of the matching column in the dataSource.

    That's clear now, Thomas, thanks for the explanation

  • Page keeps looping through processRequest method

    I am not sure why this is happening, but whenever I added a pageContext.setForwardUrl call to my process request method it winds up in an endless loop. If I put a single breakpoint in this method and comment out that last line it will only stop there once and I can load the page. As soon as I uncomment it and run the page it hits my breakpoint 20+ times and I finally get a javax.servlet.ServletException. Any ideas as to what may be causing this? This is the first time I have tried this and it seems pretty straight-forward.

    Thanks,

    I got it working:
    All three pages share a single controller class and it was a circular reference. I added some logic to add a parameter to my forwardURL that allowed me to check for it and break out of that loop. Your suggestion pointed me in the right direction, thanks!

  • Passing multi value parameter to the Drill through report

    Hi
    I have two reports say Report A and Report B.
    Both reports using same parameters.
    I am Navigating from Report A to Report B using Jump to Report option.
    Now when I pass multiple parameter to the Report B it only displays first parameter results.
    In report B I have parameter multi value select to true.
    I would like to know if its possible or not to pass multi value parameter in drill through report?
    I would appreciate if someone can help me here.
    Regards
    Amit

    Yes you can pass multi value parameters to a drill through report.
    It works similar to multi value parameters for subreports, which is discussed in detail in this thread: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=163803&SiteID=1

  • SWT: Passing text value to Mouse Event

    I am a little new to java and I am having problems passing the value from Text to mouseDown to be used in the event. When I try to place the name variable into mouseDown it says it must be declared final to do this, but if I declare it final then I can't receive the user input, what do I need to change?
    public class SearchForm {
         public SearchForm(Composite parent)
              GridLayout layout = new GridLayout();
         parent.setLayout(layout);
         Label l = new Label(parent, SWT.NONE);
         l.setText("Please Enter a Name: ");
         l.pack();
         Text name = new Text(parent, SWT.BORDER);
         name.pack();
         Button b = new Button(parent, SWT.PUSH);
         b.setText("Search");
         b.setLocation(0,0);
         b.pack();
         b.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter()

                   /*Ch4_Contributions sw = new Ch4_Contributions();

    How do I pass the value of an Enum to a method?
    I have an Enum called myEnums with several values to a common method

            EMPTY,
            PARTIAL
            CPTY_CODE;

    You could also write this:
    public enum FillLevel
        FULL,
        EMPTY,
        PARTIAL;
        public boolean isEmpty() {
          return this == EMPTY;
        public boolean isFull() {

    }By the way. What does CPTY_CODE mean? It doesn't seem as if it belongs into the enum. Also, why doesn't the enum have a name that tells us what it's all about?

  • Passing Ref Cursor as parameter to object type method

    I am encountering a problem passing a parameter of type REF CURSOR to methods of a set of object types I am developing.
    Here is an example of what I am trying to do:
    create or replace package p1 as
    type c_Cursor is ref cursor;
    end p1;
    create or replace type t_Object as object
    not instantiable method m1(p_Cursor in p1.c_Cursor) return varchar2
    ) not instantiable not final;
    create or replace type t_Subtype under t_Object as
    overriding method m1(p_Cursor in p1.c_Cursor)
    return varchar2
    The problem is that the PL/SQL compiler gives the error message PLS-00201 "p1.c_Cursor" not defined.
    According to my PL/SQL book (SF's Oracle PL/SQL Programming) the only way to use a ref cursor as a parameter to functions/procedures is to wrap them in a package. Indeed I have developed a test procedure in a different package that uses p1.c_Cursor as a parameter and it works fine.
    Oracle's documemtation suggests that object security (roles etc) can cause this error but as all the objects are being created in the same schema I don't see how this should be a problem.
    If anyone can suggest how to get around this problem I will be very grateful.
    BTW, if there are any mistakes in my sample code it's because I am writing it from memory as I don't have Internet access at work.
    Thanks,
    Charles.

    Thanks for your reply. I am still baffled as to why it doesn't work but, as you correctly point out, SYS_REFCURSOR works just fine. I figured that out earlier today and now the problem is solved.
    Charles.

  • SSIS - Loop through files from a file path based on the value in the variable

    Experts,
    I have a requirement where I'll be loading multiple files in to a SQL server table and archive the files when loaded. However, the challenge is , the file path should be dynamic based on the value of a variable (say, @ProductName).
    For example: If I am running the package for variable @ProductName="Product", the file path would be "\\....\Src\Product", in that case the ForEachLoop will loop through all the files in that folder, load them to the table and Archive
    the files to the "\\....\Src\Product\Archive" folder.
    Similarly, if the @ProductName="Product_NCP", the foreachloop container should loop through files in the "\\....\Src\Product_NCP" folder, load them to the table and archive them to the ""\\....\Src\Product_NCP\Archive"
    folder.
    Any suggestions? I should be able to run the package manually just by passing the "@Product" value, create Archive folder if it doesn't exist, load the data and archive the files.

    Yes
    1. Have a variable inside SSIS to get folder path. Set path based on your rule using an expression
    like
    (@[User::ProductName] == "Product" ? "\\....\Src\Product" : (@[User::ProductName] == "Product_NCP" ? \\....\Src\Product_NCP:..))
    similary archive
    (@[User::ProductName] == "Product" ? "\\....\Src\Product\Archive" : (@[User::ProductName] == "Product_NCP" ? "\\....\Src\Product_NCP\Archive" :..))

  • HOW TO PASS VALUE TO STORED PROCEDURE through page

    Hi
    I want to create generate next number on base of type. I have created stored procedure with passing  three value input. If I am passing value manually through page then next number is generating. But I don't to pass value manually, I have to assign value internally as per database record.

    I did same thing in my application,It is working,Output like that
    Value = INV
    Result= 26400080
    Now I have to assign value TRANSCATION  TYPE through bean class or  assign another textbox value. I did in my program in the following ways
       <af:inputText value="INV"
                                                              label="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.label}"
                                                              required="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.mandatory}"

                                                              shortDesc="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.tooltip}"

    Hi All,
    i am facing a problem in passing multiple values as out parameters from for loop.
    EX:
    i have a select statment inside a loop like.....
    PACKAGE SPEC:
    create or replace PACKAGE EMP_PKG AS
    TYPE TAB_NUM IS TABLE OF SCOTT.EMP.EMPNO%TYPE;
    TYPE TAB_NAME IS TABLE OF SCOTT.EMP.ENAME%TYPE;
    TYPE TAB_JOB IS TABLE OF SCOTT.EMP.JOB%TYPE;
    temp_table TAB_NUM;
    procedure test(temp_TAB_e_no OUT TAB_NUM,
    temp_TAB_e_name OUT TAB_NAME,
    temp_TAB_e_job OUT TAB_JOB);
    END EMP_PKG;
    PACKAGE BODY:
    create or replace PACKAGE BODY EMP_PKG AS
    v_e_no NUMBER;
    procedure test(temp_TAB_e_no OUT TAB_NUM,
    temp_TAB_e_name OUT TAB_NAME,
    temp_TAB_e_job OUT TAB_JOB) IS
    BEGIN
    select EMPNO bulk collect into temp_table from emp;
    for i in 1..temp_table.count loop
    v_e_no := temp_table(i);
    select empno,
    ename,
    job
    into temp_TAB_e_no(i),
    temp_TAB_e_name(i),
    temp_TAB_e_job(i)
    from emp
    where empno = v_e_no;
    end loop;
    end test;
    END EMP_PKG;
    PROBLEM FACING IS:
    I am expecting all rows returning from bellow select statment ...
    select empno,
    ename,
    job
    into temp_TAB_e_no(i),
    temp_TAB_e_name(i),
    temp_TAB_e_job(i)
    from emp
    where empno = v_e_no;
    But,while running the SP , i am getting error like
    ORA-06531: Reference to uninitialized collection
    ORA-06512: at "SCOTT.EMP_PKG", line 16
    why i am not getting all values as out parameters.please provide a solution for me.
    Thanks in advance my friend.

    temp_TAB_e_job OUT TAB_JOB);
    END EMP_PKG;
    PACKAGE BODY:
    create or replace PACKAGE BODY EMP_PKG AS
    v_e_no NUMBER;
    procedure test(temp_TAB_e_no OUT TAB_NUM,
    temp_TAB_e_name OUT TAB_NAME,
    temp_TAB_e_job OUT TAB_JOB) IS
    BEGIN
    select EMPNO bulk collect into temp_table from emp;
    for i in 1..temp_table.count loop
    v_e_no := temp_table(i);
    select empno,

    job
    into temp_TAB_e_no(i),
    temp_TAB_e_name(i),

    PROBLEM FACING IS:
    I am expecting all rows returning from bellow select statment ...
    select empno,
    ename,
    job
    into temp_TAB_e_no(i),
    temp_TAB_e_name(i),
    temp_TAB_e_job(i)

    But,while running the SP , i am getting error like

    ORA-06512: at "SCOTT.EMP_PKG", line 16
    why i am not getting all values as out parameters.please provide a solution for me.
    Thanks in advance my friend.Probably not a bad thing that this isn't working for you.
    This is a horrible way to return the contents of a table.
    Are you doing this for educational purpose, or ... what is your goal here? If you just want to return a result set to a client you'd want to look in to using a REF CURSOR and not a bunch of arrays combined with horribly procedural (slow) code.

  • Problem looping through recordset

    Hi,
    I am having a problem with the following code. In the test case, the recordset returns more than one record. Only one record is inserted, and the loop aborted after the insert. If I take out the insert statement the loop cycles through for every record. I do not believe there is anything wrong with the insert statement, as the first record is inserted. Any help would be appreciated.
      while(rs.next()){
                     System.out.println("test");
                     String equip = rs.getString("EQUIP");
                     String pm = rs.getString("PM");
                     String lim = rs.getString("LIMIT");
                     String item_val = rs.getString("ITEM_VALUE");
                     String source = rs.getString("SOURCE");
                     myStatement.executeQuery("INSERT INTO TESTTBL(ACTION,STATUS,TOOL,REMARK) VALUES('STACK VALIDATION','UPDATED', '" + equip + "','LIMIT: " + lim + " - VALUE: " + item_val + " SOURCE: " + source + "')");
                     System.out.println("INSERT INTO TESTTBL(ACTION,STATUS,TOOL,REMARK) VALUES('STACK VALIDATION','UPDATED', '" + equip + "','LIMIT: " + lim + " - VALUE: " + item_val + " SOURCE: " + source + "')");
                 }

    Did rs come from myStatement?
    From http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/sql/ResultSet.html :
    A ResultSet object is automatically closed when the Statement object that generated it is closed, re-executed, or used to retrieve the next result from a sequence of multiple results.
    You have to use two different statements: one for the rs that you're looping through and one for the insert that occurs while still using the first rs.
