Problem Reading mp3 fles on Mac OS X Snow Leopard

Hi
Am deploying an application to mac osx snow leopard. my application is suppose to accept files by drag drop / browse select. it supports mp3 files only. it is suppose to load mp3 files with sound object, and read the id3 data and populate in into data grid. it works fine on windows. mp3 loading does not work on mac. can some one please help. this is urgent. is there a issue with this for mac platform ?
i basically pass audiofile.nativePath to sound object via new URLREQUEST.

The problem with my application was due to few things that were wrong.
1. Loading Mp3 files vis fileobject.nativePath is incorrect way to load such resources. you must use fileobject.url instead.
2. Comparing for file type with logic such as :
if((j.type.toLowerCase())== FILETYPE)
will have issues on mac, because:
The file type.
In Windows or Linux, this property is the file extension. On the Macintosh, this property is the four-character file type, which is only used in Mac OS versions prior to Mac OS X. If the FileReference object was not populated, a call to get the value of this property returns null.
3. I need to set sandbox as “file system” to access the content of audio resource.  The method is :”open FlexBuilder -> project -> Properties -> Flex Complier -> Additional Complier arguments -> add “-use-network=false” “.
Now my application works cross platform. Thanks to a outstanding support by the Adobe Air Support.

  • Mac mini and Snow leopard wireless problems

    Hi,
    I got mac mini running snow leopard to our office from another branch, this is recently brought mac mini with snow leopard installed,
    But the problem is I cannot connect to internet using wireless connections. Reading other posts i found out that there is a snow leopard issues with connecting to wireless network, but this problem seems to unique. When i connect to wireless network it shows me that, mac mini is connected to wireless network but doesn't take ip address from dhcp , its show some self assigned ip which is 169.254.226.163, but my network address are 192.168.1.*, ethernet works fines,but in wireless even when i gave manual ip , it connect but i cannot connect to internet neither i can ping to router.
    I tried various methods suggests in forms, like deleting network preference files in /Library/Preferences and ~/Library/Preferences and also deleting network connection and adding new one, even updating to 10.6.3 but nothing works for me,
    My macbook nicely connected to wireless and get ip, even PC connect nicely this issue is only with Mac mini
    Could have suggest me how can i fixed this, Thank you very much,
    Best Regards,

    Thanks DaddyPaycheck for your initial response. Before I jump onto the phone with Comcast couple of questions that I have for clarification purposes:
    1) Are you implying that I must link my blabla.com address to that static IP address through my Domain Provider? See following example:
    Record Type Record Host Record Answer TTL
    A *.blablat.com >>Static IP<< 300
    2) The current IP I have been given 60.172.151.254, why is that not static or how do you know it is not static?
    3) When executing the command host in terminal for this IP address it returns the following: c-60-172-151-254.hsdl.co.comcast.net which coincidentally is the same as primary DNS it recommended during the initial configuration of the Mini Server. What does this mean? When I enter this in Safari it results in 'Safari can't connect to server'.
    4) Executing the same command for my domain name 'blabla.com' it results in my 'internal' IP address '1.0.10.9'.
    Thanks in advance for any clarification you can provide,
    Tiest.

    i have a mac os x snow leopard. my problem is that when i go to the ethernet settings it shows 'not connected'. i called the internet person even he couldn't fix it PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    System Preferences > Network > Ethernet? If that shows "not connected" that is all your Mac knows. As far as it is concerned there is no cable connected to the port on your Mac, or the other end of the cable is either disconnected or connected to something that is broken.
    Try another cable. If the cable is broken you will also get that status message. If you have exhausted all of these possibilities, the only remaining cause is an inoperative port on your Mac.

    I've just bought a Mac OS X Snow Leopard DVD -Full- (not upgrade)
    When I boot from the installation DVD nd then
    after few minutes the screen turns to black nd I can't do anything!! (MacBook Pro 2009)
    I tried using my iMac nd the installation DVD works smooth nd fine!
    I don't know why MBP is not processing the installation steps nd the screen suddenly turns to black!
    Waiting ...
    Thanks

    Make sure your MacBook pro is not too new for the disk in question.
    Find the serial number for the MacBook Pro, and look at the three characters labelled ABC below, and tell us the numbers they are represented by:
    xxABCxxxx
    Don't give us the full serial number. The x can be any letter or number.
    Then tell us the 10.6 version labelled in fine print on the DVD.
    That will tell us if the Mac is too new for your Snow Leopard Disc, and you need to use the original MacBook Pro discs that came with your Mac to install 10.6.

  • Text messages in Safari are garbled on Mac Pro after Snow Leopard install

    When reading or composing my Yahoo mail text messages in Safari on my Mac Pro after Snow Leopard, the wording is very garbled. Looks like o's, s's, c's, some caps, with lots of spaces intermixed. Messages look ok on Firefox, on same machine. New messages and reading sent messages look ok on my MacBook and MB Air. When cutting and pasting into something else (like this window), the text looks fine. I can compose and send messages that look garbled, but the right words and letters go out. HTML messages look ok. Any clues for solution?

    I have this happening in bunch of different HTML pages. Here's a screenshot of the same page in Safari (Version 4.0.3 (6531.9)) and Mac OS X 1.6.1 side by side with Camino:
    https://dl.getdropbox.com/u/362958/miscwebimages/Screen%20shot%202009-09-22%20at%2018.35.47.png
    Camino renders the page correctly. Safari is really unusable with this problem. Tried switching to and from 64-bit mode in Safari, didn't help either.

  • Can the new Mac Mini boot Snow Leopard from an external hard drive?

    I currently boot my 2009 Mac Mini from a FW800 external drive with 10.6.8. If I just plug my external drive into a new 2011 Mac Mini, will it boot into Snow Leopard if I set it as the startup disk or will I get a kernel panic?

    I bought a 2011 Mac Mini, which came with Lion installed. I thought maybe I could repartition it and have a Snow Leopard partition. So I repartitioned it (500gb split into two 250gb partitions). I named the new partition "SnowLeopard" just to make it easy for me to tell the difference.
    I attached the external DVD and put in a Snow Leopard installer disc, holding down the C key so it would boot and install from that, but it just spun for awhile. Doesn't appear to work.
    Then I read somewhere else that someone had managed to clone a copy of Snow Leopard onto an external drive and boot from that. In their situation they were talking about a MacBook, but the principle seemed sane.
    So I rebooted, holding down the T key to put the Mac Mini into Target hard disk mode, and attached it via Firewire to another MacMini (circa 2008 or so, not sure of year, but it was upgraded last year to Snow Leopard and has been upgraded along and along). Then I used Carbon Copy Cloner to copy Snow Leopard (that is, the entire hard disk-- System and all applications and data) to my newer Mac Mini's "snow leopard" partition.
    For yucks, when it was done cloning, I restarted the older Mac Mini, and had it boot from the newer Mac Mini's snow leopard partition--- it worked! To make it easy to tell the difference, I changed the desktop background to something completely different. I think I tried booting from Lion but I can't remember if that worked.
    Then I rebooted the newer Mac Mini, which booted up in Lion, of course. Going into System Settings, I changed the startup disk to the "snow leopard" partition, and rebooted, and it booted up in Snow Leopard.
    I have yet to test the applications on the Snow Leopard partition. Another problem has arisen.
    Because with both of the Mac MInis being active on the network, they both had the same computer and user name. So I renamed the newer Mac Mini to something completely different, and changed the password.
    Unfortunately, now I cannot change any other setting in the System Settings that requires a password. While the newer Snow Leopard lets me log in with the new user and new password, whenever I try to click the "lock" icon to change something, I'm prompted for a username and password. Apparently this is some different username and password than either the new or old username/password.
    I've tried various combinations of both: new user/old password, old user/new password, old user/old password, etc.
    So if you do what I've done, be careful about changing the username and password on your cloned computer. I think it may be wiser to create a new user and then delete the old cloned users. I may just have to re-clone the old Mac Mini to the new one again.
    If anyone has any ideas about this password conundrum, please pass along!

  • Migration assistant update for Mac OS X Snow Leopard

    Hello -- I downloaded SNOW LEOPARD successfully that past week. I did a software update as well afterwards.
    Now in preparation for upgrading to LION OS X, I read an article that mentions one must make sure to have the MIGRATION ASSISTANT UPDATE for Mac OS X Snow Leopard installed. I am unsure if this was included in the software updates I performed. One would assume it would be there. BUT there is not a detailed listing of what these combination updates include. HOW can I tell if I have the desired version required to continue on to LION?
    Another suggestion was for one to perform FIRST AID on the start up disk. It only says to select your Mac HD and then to "verify" ..... do they mean to VERIFY DISK or VERIFY DISK PERMISSIONS. I have on occasion performed a REPAIR DISK PERMISSIONS but not the others mentioned. I do not know what the difference is?
    THANK YOU

    I have the same console mesages repeating ad-nasium as you do. What is interesting is I do have the StartuoItems directory but it is empty. The problem I have is that the log-in window comes up as normal, but I can not type in it for about 5-8 seconds. This has started after the latest updates which you mention. Don't know if this issue is related or not. Have deleted the loginwindows and loginitems preferences to no effect.

  • I purchase this approx 6 yrs ago, recently had to purchase Mac OS X Snow Leopard for my daughter new IPOD to work.  But this crazy computer is extremely slow, why??? Please help.  Very fustrated!

    I purchase my Mac approx 6 years, recently purchase Mac OS X Snow Leopard disk for my daughters new IPOD to work, computer is extremely slow, others refuse to use it, why is it slow, I know very little about this computer and have hated it from day one! Please help.  The most I have on this computer would be photos, never downloaded movies, and have approx 40 songs.

    The best option to make it faster would be to manually go through and erase all of the junk (files you never use) from the computer. If you want a much faster way (depending on how many files you have, this can take much longer), you can copy the files you'd like to keep to an external HD and then erase and reinstall OS X.
    Erase and Reinstall OS X using the OS X Install DVD
    Note: This will delete all data on the disk. Back up important files before continuing.
    Erasing and then reinstalling OS X can give you a fresh start, making your computer exactly as it was whenever you received it from Apple. This can solve various problems such as corrupt system files.
    Insert your OS X Install DVD into the computer's built-in disc drive (if applicable) or your computer's external USB disc drive.
    Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
    Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.
    Plug in the MagSafe power adapter into a power source and then connect it to your Mac if you have not already done so.
    Press the Power Button to turn on the computer.
    Press and hold the D key on the keyboard until the Recovery partition loads. If this does not work, shut down the computer, press the Power Button to turn on the computer, and then hold in the Alt (⌥) button immediately after you press the power button. Then, select the Mac OS X Install DVD to boot from the Mac OS X Install DVD.
    Select Disk Utility and then choose Continue.
    Select your startup disk (Macintosh HD by default) from the left.
    Select the Erase tab.
    Choose the Format pop-up menu and choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled), enter a name for your disk, and then click Erase.
    After the disk is erased, choose Disk Utility > Quit Disk Utility.
    Select Reinstall OS X and then choose Continue.
    Follow the instructions.
    I hope I helped.

  • Flash Player Square troubles in Mac OS X Snow Leopard

    For the last 2 - 3 days or so, I have been having severe problems with Flash Player Square Preview 2, 64-bit in Firefox 4.0 Beta 7.
    Most sites seem to work fine, but on YouTube nearly every video I try to play performs very poorly. The video lags horribly, and is very choppy and blocky.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Uninstalling/Reinstalling Flash Player - No Success.
    2. Deleted my Firefox profile. - No Success
    3. Playing videos with fresh profile and NO ADDONS. - No Success.
    and Finally,
    4. Reinstalled Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.5 - No Success.
    Also one more important thing to note, I had a friend with a similar setup(Firefox 4.0 Beta 7 - Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.5) as my own try it, and he too said that the videos are playing choppily with the same results.
    Flash does however, perform well on every site in 32-bit release versions of Firefox 3.6.X as well as Safari and Chrome. And it performed fine even in a 64-bit Browser earlier this week too.
    Also, I do not believe the problem is 64-bit related, since I get the same results if I tick the Open in 32-bit Mode check box in Get Info for Firefox 4.0 Beta 7.
    Any suggestions for this problem would be much appreciated.

    Did you want me to re-post this in that forum or can one of the mods from here move it?

  • HT2513 What version of iCal do I need to use with Mac OS X Snow Leopard?  I upgraded to OS X 10.6.3 and my iCal 3.0.8 won't open.

    I just upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard version 10.6.3 and now my iCal 3.0.8 won't open at all.  What version do I need to or should I upgrade to and where do I find it?

    The version installed with Snow Leopard since iCal is part of OS X. If you are trying to use iCal from a different drive and version of OS X, then it won't work. If the installed version of iCal in Snow Leopard is the wrong version, then there was a problem. Delete the wrong version then reinstall Snow Leopard:
    Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
    If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
    Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

    That's what we needed.
    Officially your iMac--known as a "tray-loader" for its optical drive type--can go to Panther (10.3.X). Panther is quite better than Jaguar (10.2.8) that you now have. You probably need more RAM than 160MB for even Jaguar. I feel that 384MB is about min for that OS.
    The big problem is that the early iMacs came with painfully small hard drives --4 to 6 G--and OSX need a lot of free space on the disk for efficient performance. It's hard to keep a Jaguar system under 2G with a few useful apps installed.
    Bottom line: you'll spent money for a hard-to-find retail OS install disk, more RAM, and a bigger hard drive, and you'll still have a slow computer that will always struggle with modern web pages. If you want to upgrade and experiment as a hobby or learnign experience and you can afford the parts and time, by all means--go for it. However, if cost is an issue, throwing money at this unit is not cost-effective in terms of how much more yo ucan get from it.

  • RMI + Eclipse + Mac OS X Snow Leopard

    Hello,
    Well the problem is this:
    I'm developing an RMI app (IRC) using Eclipse under Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but I get ConnectException. I'm doing this locally and I'm sure the firewall is not rejecting the connection. Here's mi main method:
    public static void main(String[] args)
    System.setSecurityManager(new SecurityManager()
    public void checkConnect(String host, int port) {}
    public void checkConnect(String host, int port, Object context) {}
    if (System.getSecurityManager() == null)
    System.setSecurityManager(new SecurityManager());
    try
    IRCServer server = new Server();
    IRCServer stub = (IRCServer) UnicastRemoteObject.exportObject(server, 0);
    Registry registry = LocateRegistry.getRegistry();
    registry.rebind(RMIRegistryName, stub); ///////EXCEPTION HERE
    System.out.println("ComputeEngine bound");
    catch (Exception error)
    System.err.println("IRCServer exception:");
    error.printStackTrace();
    If I try to pass the argument -Djava.security.policy to the JVM from Eclipse it throws the ClassNotFoundException. I don't know what I'm missing :S
    I read there's no need to create the stubs since java 1.5 and also a friend told me (I think he is on Linux) that Eclipse run his app (the same project) without problems :S.
    Is there something I'm not doing to make this works from Eclipse? If not I think I'll have to do it without Eclipse :S

    The simple answer is to start the Registry inside your server JVM, with LocateRegistry.createRegistry(). Otherwise you have to supply a classpath argument to rmiregistry.exe with -J-Dclasspath=
