Problem reading pasted data

I am copying cell text from a google docs spreadsheet to a multi-column script.  A few attempts seemed to work fine but now I get an error " Sorry, Adobe Story encountered a problem reading the pasted data"
This occurs on Firefox and Safari.  Restarted each with same result.  Copy and paste works fine with all other apps.
I am running Mac 10.8.4 on rMBP.
Testing Story and no cut and paste from Google docs is a no go.
Thanks for the help.
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Are you facing this issue with some specific data set? If yes, could you please send across a sample of it for us to look into it.
If not, please save the stdoc of the script into which you are trying to paste the data (File->Save to disk). Also in this scenario please try creating a new script and pasting in it . Let us know if it makes a difference.
[ Documents can be sent to "AdobeStory-Support 'at' adobe 'dot' com" ]
Thanks

  • Capture encountered a problem reading the data source tape .

    FCP 4.5
    SONY DSR-20 deck
    dual 1.5GHZ
    There are sound drop-outs on my source NTSC mini-dv tapes
    the time-code looks pretty steady in the DSR-20 deck display
    however i keep getting the following message when i try to digitize:
    "Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape.
    This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted
    and your clip has been saved"
    I've tried setting Device Control to "Non-Controllable Device" and trying to capture video ONLY [the drop-out is mainly in the sound] which has generally solved this problem in the past but to no avail.
    The same message comes up.
    I realize my source tapes are messed up but how to work around it?
    any advice please !
    thank you

    The most direct work-around is to play your DV tape through the analog outs on some device and to bring the signal into a a/dv converter and to capture using 'capture now/non-controllable device'
    I'm doing this as I write. A student, who did not know any better, recorded on LP mode and the timecode (and recording in general) is nearly unusable. This is the only way I've been able to get it into the system. It ain't pretty but you will have the material.
    You are correct when you inquire that there will be no time code and the material will take a 2 conversion hit.
    Good luck.

  • "Capture encountered a problem reading the data" ANYBODY HAVE AN ANSWER?

    "Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape..."
    How do I get FCP to capture the footage? The tape is fine as far as I know. When I play the tape it shows up in the capture window, but when I click capture "Now", it'll capture 2 seconds, stop, then give the message:
    "Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved."
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a Sony TUV 900, and this camera and this FCP have worked together in harmony for many years until recently. I have no external hard drives, only internal hard drives. The firewire goes out of camera and goes into back of computer. The tape plays fine in my TUV 900 camera, (where the tape was originally recorded.)
    I recently read on this forum where someone said they:
    "Actually, I just had to switch to NTSC in the easy setup menu. I could have sworn I did that last night but I guessed I missed it. Anyway, I can capture now."
    I would appreciate any advice on this subject.
    Thanking you in advance, Michael Kasino

    Try another device-- deck or camera to eliminate that possibility.
    So I did this and now suspect the camera...
    I tried another camera, and I still encountered the problem, (probably because of tape damage at this point), But the ALT camera did a much better job and digitized over areas the TUV 900 could not.
    Now, I agree it is a camera issue. It could be 'bad tensioning' in the cassette, or my tape transport in the camera could be 'slacking the tape'. (I was using a Maxell Minin DV rewinder recently.
    Is this camera even worth repairing, or even able to be repaired? ( $3-500. ?)
    Am I better off getting a newer model at this point?
    Also I am seeing ALOT of 'artifacting', big blocky elements of distorted image to the left side of my screen during and on digitized clips. (Could the head be going south?)
    Any thoughts helpful.

  • Problems reading xmp data into dng files

    Hi there,
    I am working on a Mac and have exported files as lossy dng for colour correction externally. They have done the work for LR 5 process (I am using CC) and returned xml files. I cannot seem to read this data into the dng files for further editing in Lightroom. I have tried re-importing them and I have tried reading metadata from file. Any help would be appreciated as I usually simply read the xmp to the original RAW but the RAW files are currently on an external drive in another country!!!
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
    I dunno how best to get extracted xmp files into the raw folders, but if you are comfortable with exiftool, you can use it to extract xmp sidecars from DNG files.
    If you want a turn-key solution which does not required you to futz with exiftool, then consider a free plugin I wrote:
    robcole.com - xEmP
    It will allow you to create xmp sidecars with all your DNG adjustments and metadata (which can then be applied to the non-dng raw files).
    However, if you won't need the DNGs in your catalog afterward, then the easiest way is to convert them back to proprietary raw format using this plugin (also free, and I wrote it):
    robcole.com - UnDNG
    Conceptually, you can think of it as converting the DNGs to proprietary raw format, but note: it doesn't convert anything, it just allows existing raw files that are NOT in the catalog, to replace the DNGs that are in the catalog. All adjustments and metadata and everything else will be preserved (just like when you convert a proprietary raw to DNG format).

  • Problem reading ascii data correctly

    I have two programs that talk to each other over a TCP connection. When I write the data "STX+1234" where STX is the Ascii character STX or Ctrl B and I expect the written String length to be 6 which it is. On the other side of the socket I create the ServerSocket and use the client socket's InputStream to create a BufferedReader. When I receive the string it now has 12 characters where each original character has been replaced by NUL and the character.  How do I read the string as it is originally specified without the conversion? And is the problem on the reader side or the writer side?

    It may sound strange but if you want help with code you need to POST THE CODE!
    No one can debug code that they can NOT see.
    SHOW US (don't tell us)
    1. WHAT you are doing
    2. HOW you are doing it
    3. WHAT results you get
    4. WHAT results you expect to get
    You said the written String length is six. String lengths are measured in characters and the 'String.length()' method is very specific about what it returns:
    public int length()
    Returns the length of this string. The length is equal to the number of Unicode code units in the string.
    You also said the received string now has 12 'characters'. Again - did you mean 12 bytes as TPD suggested?
    Without knowing what character set you are using (the default, or a specific one) and EXACTLY how you are doing whatever you are doing it is impossible to know whether there is even any issue.
    For all we know you could just be measuring everything wrong.
    You can write Java strings all day long to the file system and a six character string containing ASCII will be six BYTES since ascii characters in UTF8 only require one byte (even those control characters). The same ASCII characters, written using UTF16 will, as TPD said, consume TWO bytes for each characater resulting in 12 total BYTES. But that is 12 bytes NOT characters. .

  • Problem reading all data from Synchronous Socket

    Hi,
    I have the task to implements an C# application which communicates with a SAP system via HTTP. My application should act as a HTTP Server to the SAP system. SAP sends documents (PDFs, Word-Docs, Tifs) through HTTP-Requests to my Server. Archive Link is SAP´s name for that HTTP interface.
    Currently I am using synchronous sockets to process the communication. So
    basically I do something like this:
            Thread th = new Thread(new ThreadStart(StartListenThreaded));
         th.Start();
    The method StartListenThread looks like this:
         private void StartListenThreaded()
                   IPAddress ipAddress = IPAddress.Parse("127.0.0.1");
                   IPEndPoint EndPoint = new IPEndPoint(ipAddress, port);
                   Socket ss = new Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp);
                   ss.Bind( EndPoint);
                   ss.Listen(20);
                   try
                        while(true)
                             Console.WriteLine("rnServer is waiting for a new connection..rn");
                             Socket sock = ss.Accept();
                             Console.WriteLine("Accepted connection form:"+sock.RemoteEndPoint);
                             Connection con = new Connection(sock);
                             Thread t = new Thread(new ThreadStart(con.ProcessOneRequest));
                             t.IsBackground=true;
                             t.Priority=ThreadPriority.BelowNormal;
                             t.Start();
                   catch (System.Exception e1)
                   {  Console.WriteLine("An Exception Occurred while Listening :" +e1.ToString()); }
    As mentioned above There are mostly some Word-Documents or PDF files send as the body of a request. So I need to parse the body and write the content to a file.
    Currently I use this code to accomplish that:
         while (true)
             if(socket.Available == 0)
              break;
                n = socket.Receive(bytes);
             if(n == 0)
               break;
             wr.Write(bytes,0,n); // wr is a BinaryWriter
    Now my problem is that this loop breaks before all data is received from the socket. That means it runs into the socket.Available == 0 case and ends, but there is still data available. How did I find that out? Well during debugging the code.
    With the debugger running and when stepping through the code, obviously leaves the SAP side more time to send its data.
    When doing some Console.WriteLine() after the loop with the socket.Receive() I get results > 0. So there is still data available.
    I am not asking an SAP question here. I am aware that the problem could also be on the SAP side. However I think it is a C# issue. Has anyone experienced similar problems with sockets? Am I doing something completely wrong in handling my socket? I also don´t think that I can use Asynchronous sockets beacuse I need to process incoming requests in a determined order.
    I have also tryed to turn off Blocking mode by setting socket.Blocking = false but I found out that I cannon use that because I need NetworkStream at some point in my application and NetworkStream does not work without blocking mode.

    I have evaluated several other possibilities before starting to implement HTTP on a socket basis. I only have this choice.
    I have had a detailed look at Cassini before, but since you mentioned it in your post I looked at it more closely and I think I found a solution for my Problem.
    Cassini uses some code like the following to poll for more data in a request. I am now using this mechanism in my application and it works fine.
              private int WaitForRequestBytes()
                   int availBytes = 0;
                   try
                        Console.WriteLine("socket.Available: " + socket.Available);
                        if (socket.Available == 0)
                             // poll until there is data
                             Console.WriteLine("Polling 100ms");
                             socket.Poll(100000 /* 100ms */, SelectMode.SelectRead);
                             if (socket.Available == 0 && socket.Connected)
                                  Console.WriteLine("Polling 1sec");
                                  socket.Poll(1000000 /* 1sec */, SelectMode.SelectRead);
                                  // socket.Poll(10000000 /* 10sec */, SelectMode.SelectRead);
                        availBytes = socket.Available;
                   catch
                   return availBytes;
    So thanks for putting me in the right direction.

  • Capture encountered a problem reading....

    I know that this issue has been beaten to death but none of the responses seem to help.
    I am consistently getting the following error message: "Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. To capture as much footage as possible, please capture a clip that ends before this segment, and another one that starts right after it."
    I have tried different cameras as playback devices without success.
    When I use "Capture Now" I get the following message: "Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. Capture has aborted and your clip has been saved."
    Imovie seems to import the same "problem tape" without an issue.
    I have capture at least one tape without a problem. On some tapes after the above message occurs I am able to get past the "bad spot" and continue to capture. On other tapes the message keeps occurring.
    I have dubbed a problem tape but the error message continued to appear at the same spot in the tape.
    Most footage was taken using a SONY TRV 900.
    QT is up to date
    I do not believe this is a TC issue.
    I have also tried different firewire cables.
    This problem is making my attempts to capture over 100 tapes simply impossible. Is there any reason to believe that using a deck (rather than a camera) would eliminate this problem?
    NOTE: I had one tape that captured fine. However when I start getting the above errors, even the "good tape" generates the error (when it previously captured fine.)
    Are there certain files that can be getting corrupted that I can trash?
    Is there any workaround that would force FCP to capture the tape?
    Mac Pro 2.66/FCP 6.0.5

    PROBLEM SOLVED!
    Hi Daisydaisy, I also was struggling with this same problem and found your post when I was doing research. I would like to share the solution I found with you. I also use a Sony TRV-900 which I have owned for 9 years.
    I had my camera professionally cleaned and serviced. Besides being cleaned, the gears that turn the tape were tweaked and set back to the correct specifications.
    I had used tape head cleaner I bought at camera stores to clean my camera, but that was not good enough.
    I can now digitize without any problem.
    There is one catch. The tapes I shot with my camera before I had it serviced play back fine, BUT still can not be digitized without getting the 'can not read source tape' error message.
    All new tapes recorded with the camera AFTER it was PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED and had ROUTINE MAINTENANCE digitize perfectly without any error.
    I've seen this problem crop up on other message boards when I was doing research into this problem, and there never seems to be any solution to this. I finally found a message forum from 3 years ago, in a deep Google search, where a guy solved this problem by having his camera professionally cleaned and serviced. I took his advice, and it solved the problem of 'CAN'T READ SOURCE TAPE'
    BRAVO! FINITO!
    By the way, I went to a place in Burbank, California called TEK Media Group. There phone number is 818-244-4440
    It cost me $350 to have the camera cleaned and serviced. They said the the drums were dirty and the tension was off too.

  • FCP error message: Unable to read the data on your source tape!

    Hey,
    So I have been editing on the MacPro now for over a year and I have never seen this message before...the message reads:
    _*"Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape."*_
    Has anyone got this message and could help me out please? I need to edit these tapes A.S.A.P.
    Thank You,
    Erick

    why would it start a month later giving me problems instead of when it was updated?
    That is a good point. Anything change since the time it worked to when it didn't? How about trying another firewire cable. Those can go south without notice, might cause this.

  • Encoding problem while reading binary data from MQ-series

    Dear all,
    we are running on 7.0 and we have an encoding problem while reading binary data from MQ-series. Because we are getting flat strings from queue we use module "Plain2ML" (MessageTransformBean) for wrapping xml-elements around the incoming data.
    The MQ-Series-Server is using CCSID 850, which we configured in connection parameters in communication channel (both parameters for Queuemanager CCSID and also CCSID of target).If there are special characters in the message (which HEX-values differ from codepage to codepage) we get errors in our adapter while executing, please see stack-trace for further analysis below.
    It seems to us that
    1. method ByteToCharUTF8.convert() expects UTF-8 in binary data
    2. Both CCSID parameters are not used anyway in JMS-adapter
    How can we solve this problem without changing anything on MQ-site?

    Any ideas?
    Kind regards, Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
    for the first MTB now we are using only one parameter: Transform.ContentType = text/plain;charset="ISO-8859-1"
    The second MTB, which does the XML-Wrapping, is configured like this:
    Transform.Class = com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.Conversion
    Transform.ContentType = application/xml
    xml.conversionType = SimplePlain2XML
    xml.fieldNames = value
    xml.fieldSeparator = §%zulu§%
    xml.processFieldNames = fromConfiguration
    xml.structureTitle = payload
    Both CCSID configuration parameters from the "Source"-Tab we've set to 850.
    Now, we don't get an error anymore - sun.io.malformedInputException - , but, unfortunately, now special character conversion succeeded (we need an "ß" and we get an ISO-HEX-E1 -> á).  E1 is (different from ISO) an "ß" in 850.
    Any ideas?

  • Problem reading data from nested internal table.

    Hi,
    Below is my code;
    *********SAP Code********
    TYPES: BEGIN OF v54a0_scdd,
             fknum  LIKE vfkk-fknum,
             change LIKE vfkkd-updkz,
             x      TYPE v54a0_scd,
             y      TYPE v54a0_scd,
             tvtf   LIKE tvtf,
           END OF v54a0_scdd.
    SCD table for dialog
    TYPES: v54a0_scdd_tab TYPE v54a0_scdd OCCURS 1.
    *********SAP Code********
    *Custom declaration*****
    data: wa_freight_costs type v54a0_scdd_tab.
    data: it_freight_costs type v54a0_scdd_tab occurs 0.
    *****Here data is getting appended to it_freight_costs. P_frieght_costs is coming from standard program.
         move p_freight_costs TO wa_FREIGHT_COSTS.
         append wa_freight_costs to it_freight_costs.
         clear wa_freight_costs.
    ***Now the problem is here. I am not able to read the data from the nested internal table x-item.
    if i use <fs_f_costs> to move data from it_freight_costs in the outer loop, i get a syntax error; <i> "the line type of the table it_freight_costs is not compatible with field symbol type <fs_f_costs>" </i>
         FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs_f_costs> type line of v54a0_scdd_tab.
          LOOP AT it_freight_costs assigning <fs_f_costs>.
              LOOP AT <fs_f_costs>-x-item ASSIGNING <fs_freight_item>.
                  <b> I want to read <fs_freight_item>-vfkp-netwr.</b>
             ENDLOOP.
    Can anyone guide me?

    A quick look at how I would do this. Note I haven't checked if this compiles just done a quick brain-dump.
      DATA: lr_f_costs TYPE REF TO v54a0_scdd_tab,
            lr_f_cost TYPE REF TO v54a0_scdd.
      LOOP AT it_freight_costs REFERENCE INTO lr_f_costs.
        LOOP AT lr_f_costs->* REFERENCE INTO lr_f_cost.
        ENDLOOP.
      ENDLOOP.
    As you can see I personally prefer pointers to field symbols - I don't believe there is any performance differences and because of my background in other languages pointers make more sense to me.

  • Cisco ISE with AD Problem: "Could not read groups data: Global catalog not found"

    Hi all,
    When I make the ActiveDirectory integration with Cisco ISE, I have complete with this integration. but when I try to read the Groups from Active Directory, ISE shows the message "Could not read groups data: Global catalog not found".
    My Domain has multiple sites and subnets, each contains GC for local logon. I have set ISE to the correct site and subnet. Forward and Reverse DNS are working with no error.
    Does anyone get this problem, please help.
    I have check into the ISE CLI Reference Guide 1.1.x
    You are about to configure Active Directory settings.
    Are you sure you want to proceed? y/n [n]: y
    Parameter Name: dns.servers
    Parameter Value: 10.77.122.135
    Active Directory internal setting modification should only be performed if approved by ISE
    support. Please confirm this change has been approved y/n [n]: y
    What shoud I set in the Parameter Name ? dns.servers or my dns hostname ?
    Please suggest for this too.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pongsatorn M.

    Hi Pongsatorn,
    Thanks for the reply!
    I've attached the results of the ISE detailed AD test. As you can see, there is a fair number of domain controllers in the AD forest.
    It seems everything works correctly until it gets to testing the AD connectivity on port 3268. Then I get this:
      Testing Active Directory connectivity:
        Global Catalog: pdascdc02.xyz.com
          gc:       3268/tcp - refused
      Testing Active Directory connectivity:
        Global Catalog: pdascdc02.xyz.com
          gc:       3268/tcp - refused
    For some reason, the request to the controllers on port 3268 is being refused.
    Any thoughts you might have are greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Greg

    A "quick" fix that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe... then download the base install for Adobe Reader 11.0.
    Then download each of the individual updates and run them sequentially.
    I've installed back up to the last security update which is version 08 and have been able to do normal Save As operations.
    You will have to disable automatic updates in order to stay at version 08 until Adobe resolves this issue in a later release.
