Problem retreiving data

Hi
From COEP table Im trying to retrieve data from fields WTGBTR , OBJNR , KSTAR , VRGNG . But the problem is if the value in the field WTGBTR is repeated for a particular OBJNR and KSTAR Im not getting those values to the internal table . Why?

Can u provide that OBJNR value. or if OBJNR value is starting with 'KS' or 'OR' use the following example.
select belnr objnr pernr megbtr into table itab_hours
      from coep for all entries in itab_belnr
     where belnr = itab_belnr-belnr
                 and = ( objnr like 'KS%' or objnr like 'OR%' ).

Retreive data from wa structure into fields.

Hi friends,
            I am having a query regarding classical report.I want to retreive data for vendor billwise realisation report.I am getting few fields into my list screen(fields from bsis table).Remaining fields i want to retreive from table bseg(augdt,augbl....)with the condition that the belnr of both the tables should be same and Account type = 'k'(vendors).
I tried it using select queries for the bsis and bseg..but data is retreived only from one table bsis and not from bseg.so for data from bseg i used workarea(wa).data is retreived for only single doc no. and not for other documents.
   If any problem in understanding this pls give me the mail id i will send in detail.

Hi Anand,
You should not use Workarea, if you are exepecting N number of records. Please use internal table.
SELECT * FROM BSIS
    into table i_bsis
     where ....
if not i_bsis[] is initial.
sort i_bsis by belnr.
SELECT * FROM BSEG
into table i_bseg
for all entries in i_bsis
where belnr = i_bsis-belnr.
endif.

Using DBLINK in ABAP to retreive data from externam system

Hi All,
Please help me, if anyone knows the answer.
The basis team has created a dblink 'DBL_TEST.YY.XXX.COM'.
Now I have to fetch data from another non-sap external system using this dblink only. Cannot have any entry in DBCON.
I know the procedure of retreiving data using DBCON entry. But since DBCON will not be used here, so I have to use the DBLINK to get data from an external oracle table (say, ZTEST).
I need the procedure to implement the logic in abap program.

My problem is now solved. We created views @the database level, and fetched data using the database view in Native SQL.
In case anybody needs to do, I am giving a short code dump;

Unable to retreive data from Lotus Notes Database

I have problems to connect to a view in Lotus notes via Lotus Notes SQL Driver. The following message appear when trying to retreive data via WebI
Database error: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_DBC failed. Contact your Business Objects administrator or database supplier for more information. (Error: WIS 10901)
I also tried via Desktop Intelligence and I got this error:
Exception: DBD, [Lotus][ODBC Lotus Notes]Column not found - ActualApproverState: S0022
Environment:
- Lotus Notes Client 8.5
- Lotus Notes SQL Driver 8.50.2009.317
- BOE Professional XI R2 SP2
I test connection in the Universe and it's working fine.

Hi,
If you are trying to access the tables from a different user other than the user who created the table, then you have to enable the "Require fully qualified table names " check box. This check box will be available when you right click the "Datasource name".
Here is an example:
Lets assume Table1 is created by user1. If u try to access the Table1 using user2, you cannot access directly. Instead you need to access like "user1.table1".
Hope this resolves ur issue.

Strange problem retreiving string from database

Hi,
I am receiving a very strange problem retreiving a string from a database. The database I am using is Access. I am using .getString(COLUMN_NAME) to get the data from the particular record in the result set. The problem is that sometimes it does not seem to get the entire information that is in the cell. I have found that it is completely random on when it will get the entire contents and when it will only get a portion. It seems like once it gets only a portion though, that every other retrieval of the same field on a different record in the result set will yield the same cut-off point. Of course to make my life even more difficult, it is not always the same cut-off point on a different result set.
Has anyone else experienced anything along these lines? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am running out of ideas as to the cause.

I've printed out exactly what is being retrieved from the fields in question and that's how I narrowed it down to that it has to do with the retrieval of the information from the result set. I've found the exact line of code where I am suddenly receiving only part of the data. And all I'm doing there is just getting the data from the result set. Nothing fancy at all. So unless the result set is becomming corrupt somehow...not sure how that would happen though by just cycling through?

How to retreive data from a maintainence view?

Hi all,
I have used select query to retreive data from a maintainence view. But it gave me a syntactical error that XYZ is not in abap dictionary , it's a database / projection view?
So can't we get data from a view using select query?
Please share if u have answers.

Hi,
Maintenance view will be created for database tables only.
Just display the maintainence from SE11 and click Tables tab in the screen
Here you can find the list of tables used to created for Maintainence view.
YOu can use these tables to write SELECT.
If you give us the maintainence table, we will help you.

Hi,
I will suggest you to check a few places where you can see the status
1) SM37 job log (give BIrequest name) and it should give you the details about the request. If its active make sure that the job log is getting updated at frequent intervals.
2) SM66 get the job details (server name PID etc from SM37) and see in SM66 if the job is running or not. See if its accessing/updating some tables or is not doing anything at all.
If its running and if you are able to see it active in SM66 you can wait for some time to let it finish.
3) RSMO see what is available in details tab. It may be in update rules.
4) ST22 check if any short dump has occured.
You can also try SM50 / SM51 to see what is happening in the system level like reading/inserting tables etc.
If you feel its active and running you can verify by checking if the number of records has increased in the cube.

M…oSoft products aren't allowed on my machines but I use LibreOffice which is a clone of Office.
When I export from Numbers to Excel and open the result with LibreOffice, the dates are correctly treated.
To be precise, dates after 01/01/1904 are correctly treated. dates before 01/01/1904 are exported as strings but, as it's flagged during the export process, it's not surprising.

Problem with date format when ask prompt web-intelligence

Bo XIR2 with 5 SP. Instaled on Windows 2003 with support Russian.
Inside BO every labels, buttons - use russian. But when invoke web-report and Prompt appear there is problem with date format.
Looks like korean format of date 'jj.nn.aaa H:mm:ss'. I see system settings of date in Win .. everything right
What i have to do?
Where i can change format date for bo?

Regarding the soln y provided me earler with the thread "Problem with date format"...
What is happening is....I am able to change the 2400 to 0000 but when it is changed from 2400 on jan 1st to 0000 the hour is changing but not the date....the date still remains as jan 1st instead of jan 2nd....
Eg: Jan 1st 2400 -- changed to -- jan1st 0000
instead of jan 2nd 0000
Could you please help me in this issue...

Problem with date format from Oracle DB

Hi,
I am facing a problem with date fields from Oracle DB sources. The date format of the field in DB table is 'Date base type is DATE and DDIC type is DATS'.
I mapped the date fields to Date characters in BI. Now the data that comes to PSA is in weird format. It shows like -0.PR.09-A
I have changing the field settings in DataSource to internal and external and also i have tried mapping these date fields to text fields with out luck. All delivers the same format.
I have also tried using conversion routines like, CONVERSION_EXIT_IDATE_INPUT to change format. It also delivers me the same old result.
If anybody of you have any suggestions or if anybody have you experienced such probelms, Please share your experience with me.

The issue again in detail
I am facing an issue with date fields from oracle data. The data that is sent from Oracle is in the format is -0.AR.04-M. I am able to convert this date in BI with conversion routine in BI into format 04-MAR-0.
The problem is, I am getting data of length 10 (Output format) in the format -0.AR.04-M where the month is not in numericals. Since it is in text it is taking one character spacing more.
I have tried in different ways to convert and increased the length in BI, the result is same. I am wondering if we can change the date format in database.
I am in puzzle with the this date format. I have checked other Oracle DB connections data for date fields in BI, they get data in the format 20.081.031 which will allow to convert this in BI. Only from the system i am trying creating a problem.

Hi there,
Yes, it is possible - and very easy. Remember an OLAP cube is fully integrated with the Oracle database and therefore treated very much as a native object.
With 11g OLAP, cube views are created automatically when you define a cube using AWM. These views provide SQL access to the data in the OLAP cube meaning that it is very easy to transfer data into a table using techniques such as 'create table as select * from cube_view' or 'insert into table select * from cube_view'. You can use WHERE clauses to filter specific values from the cube into the table, and in 11g, an optimisation has been added to ensure that NULL rows are eliminated from the result set automatically (OLAP cubes are typically very sparse and therefore contain many NULL values)
With 10g OLAP, cube views can be added on top of existing cubes that have been created using AWM. It is easiest to do this using the [view generator|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/olap/viewGenerator_1_0_2.zip] utility from the [OTN OLAP home page|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/olap/index.html]. With the views in place it is once again very easy to transfer data into a table using techniques such as 'create table as select * from cube_view' or 'insert into table select * from cube_view'.

We are using a big report which takes very long time to expand and sometimes we get the error message "evdre encountered a problem retrieving data from the webserver" when expanding the report, but not very often for most of our users. But we have one user who gets this error message almost every second time he expands the report. This user have a computer with same capacity as the rest of us, can there be some setting on the computer or in the client installtion the cause this problem?
We are using BPC 5.1 SP 5

This error occurs usually if we have huge data in combination of our dimensions.
Even, if the selection of your memberset is not apt to the combination of the data present in the back end, you may encounter a data retrival error.
