Problem to generate same VA01 search help screen in BDC Program

Hi All,
          I have got one issue.
          The issue is that i need to generate the search (F4) help screen of VA01 search for articles in the program,.
          I tried to record using BDC, but the screen generated is different.
          Can anyone please guide me how to generate that same search help screen in Program using BDC or any other tool.

Just check the field in the VA01 for which you are using BDC , you may get the standard search help for that .
It wuld be great if you elaborate your requierment .

Problem in assigning value from search help

Hi experts,
I have created an elementary search help for the custom field (Say for example YFIELD1) via SE11. Selection method's field name is YFIELD2 with same type as YFIELD1.
But when I press F4 on YFIELD1, I could see the values list but when i selected any value, it is not getting assigned to my field.
What my doubt is whether YFIELD1 and YFIELD2 should have same name?
Please help me to solve this issue.

Greetings.
there should not be any problem if your field names are different.
While creating elementry search help.... make sure that U check both import (IMP) and export (EXP) parameters and activate the search help once again.
If Ur EXP parameter is unchecked then U will be able to see the list of entries but it won't get into the field while creating entries in the main table.

Search Help Problem - Passing parameter between to search helps.

I created following 2 table for entering data in PO screen using ME21N using Custom Data Tab.
ZSTATE_TAB - State table (has elementary search help ZSTATE_SH - Value of SCODE is exported)

I have created an custom input field LEVEL in t-code ME21N in Customer Data Tab.
I want to create search help for LEVEL using import parameter STATE & CITY .
On selection screen of search help two selection parameters STATE and CITY are displayed.
Step 1:User press F4 for getting list of state and selects any state using search help ZSTATE_SH (Value of SCODE is exported)
Step 2:User press F4 to get the list of City using search help ZCITY_SH, based on state selected in Step 1. (Value of SCODE is imported)
In Step 2, I want to see only the cities selected in Step 1. But instead all Cities are displayed in hit list.
I also created a table maintenance program SM30 for ZCITY_TAB, the search help ZCITY_SH is correctly displaying the data in hit list according to the State selected in ZSTATE_SH.
But it is not displaying the correct list for cites in ME21N.
Kindly help me in fixing this problem.

If the search help is attached to the table field ( Attaching to Table Fields) or to the check table of the field ( Attaching to Tables), a value transport can take place for all the screen fields that are linked with a parameter of the search help.

Search Help screen in the BSP

Hi,
Our requirement is to provide the search help for a field. The Search help pop up should have three input fields 'UserId', 'First Name' and 'Last Name'. The pop up should not be table. In the pop up, we can give some input value and based on that the relevant entry needs to be fetched, then we need to choose that entry. That chosen entry should be moved to our input screen.

Skip Search Help Screen

Hi All,
I have a standard SAP ABAP dictionary Search help. I want to execute that search help programmatically and get the return values in a internal table. Please note that I dont want the pop-up's for the Selection screen of Search help. Also I dont want the return values to be displayed as pop-up. I want the return values in internal table. Any suggestions to do this?

If u don't want search help pop up screen, then no need to go for search help.
Anyway search help also doing database retrieval only, it is fetching data from database.
so u can directly fetch the data from database and put it into an internal table.
The execution time also will be reduced.
What u have to do is , analyse that search help from which table it is fetching data at wat condition.
there will be a search help exit for that search help in the elementary search help . This exit is FM.
In this FM They might have done validation or check that elementary search help to get the fields displayed on the pop up and the table from it is fetching the data.

SAP CRM Search Help - defaulting values in search help screen

I am working on search help object in service order(Amount allocation ) BTAMNTALL component view name vIEW:BTAMNTALL/HdrBillplanDet and field name STRUCT.AC_ASSIGNMENT. in that block if we select account assignment type as ERP cost center it will give standard search help in Select account assignment field.
Its basically calling the standard search help CRMT_AC_ASSIGN_KOSTL_E. After pressing F4 it will display the popup Controlling area cost center and description. Basically I need to default the Controlling area in F4 help based on some logic.I am not sure where to write code for this one.
Please find the attachment where I need to default the value. any help is appreciated.

At least can you read the document I provided carefully? the point 2.3.1.2 give you the answer.
Anyway if the document doesn't specify "defining a default value" but give you some ideas/hints, you only need to use a little your imagination. Like:
1- Use a custom search help with a constant (static)
2- Use a custom search help with a search exit to determine the data that you need from the sales org of course you need to add the orgunit as an input parameter for the search help and supress the input parameter which will be determined in the search help exit (dynamic)
3- Create a value node for the context (hidden) and put the info you need once you select the sales org in the hidden attribute/s, this hidden attributes should be mapped in the get_v method (dynamic, not sure if this will work, I never tried, but will be nice if you try and give us some feedback)

How to disable buttons in Search help screen ?

How do we disable Print button in customer search help ?
We want that nobody should be able to take a printout of Customers from Search help result. Hence we want to disable the print button which comes in Search help.
Any idea how do we go about it ?

Hi there,
you should be able to do that with the search help exit. Try replacing the PF-STATUS for instance. I am not sure if this works though!
For instance:
IF call_control-step = 'PRESEL'.
SET PF_STATUS 'ZZ' OF PROGRAM 'ZZZ'
ENDIF.
Or you might call the existing PF-STATUS and use EXCLUDING.

Problem creating a hybrid collective search help for werks,bukrs and ekorg

Hi All,
I have to create a collective search help for Org_key field of a custom table.
This org_key field is a char4 field and can hold the value for plant , bukrs and ekorg.
I need to create a collective search help which includes
C_T001                          Collective Search Help for BUKRS (Company Code)
H_T001W_NEW     Possible Entries for Plants
H_T024E                         Input Help for Purchasing Organization
I have added org_key field in the field description , how can i do the parameter assigment ( or declare the field description ) so that if the user press F4 for org_key field ,he is able to see all the search paths corresponding to C_T001,H_T001W_NEW, and H_T024E simultaneously, and corresponding to value chosen ( for plant , werks or ekorg ) the value is passed back to the org_key field.

Problem resolved. You can hard code values, like the domain name within the search help.
Although I have found that if you don't use a search help and you have domain values then your drop-down list values will be automatically populated from the domain values for the field. At least in my dynpro it does.

Difference between 'Selections from' and 'Search helps' in some HR program

Hi,
I notice at the top portions of some programs like Payroll Driver and pre-DME program there's two separate pushbuttons, 'Selections from' and 'Search helps'. What's the diff between the two?
Because to me, both seem to have same functionality, i.e. to further filter the records.
When I create customized programs, usually I use logical database pnp, and by that, we are adding 'Selections from' at the selection screen to help further select.
So my questions:
1. Why is there another button to help filter? Since both have same functionality to filter.
2. What's the diff between the 2?
3. Can somebody confirm the 'Search helps' is really for filtering?

Date search help in module pool programming in 4.6C version

Hi Experts,
How can i have input help in my module pool screen, I gave the searh help EXT_DATE in the search help parameter of that screen's field parameter.
But its not showing the input help.
I m facing this issue in 4.6C.

Hi,
Just to make sure that you are talking about F1 help and not F4 for input of date right?
For F1 help of screen field, please check program for tcode: F150 (Dunning Run), You will find FM: F150_FIELD_SELECTION_HELP used for one field on screen (112).

Search help in module pool programming

When i entered value in one field, getting the search help for another field...correct one.
But when i changed the value in the first field, the search help for another field is still the same

I got the solution and thanx for all ur replies. I need some more help from u guys.
The drop down contains values of four fields. Now the return table from the fm F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST contains information about one retfield since i mentioned one retfield.. So far so good.
Now my question is how can i get information about the 2nd field in the same dropdown?
      How can i mention the second retfield in the function module mentioned above?

Problem with respect to Search Help AND Dialog Progg

Dear All,
I have a screen 0100, wherein Input-output field 'Veh_num' is created.
Also there are another Input-output fields ( S_Date and S_time).
Now end-user just displays records in screen when puts Veh_num(Vehicle number) in the field and clicks DISPLAY.
Now problem arises when two Veh_NUM(Vehicle numbers) are present on same date but different on different time.
i created a SEARCH HELP for the input-out field VEH_NUM(vehecle number).............where both records are displayed. But when user select any record of the two, always only a particular record is displayed on the screen.
I Think the problem lies when User selects a row from the search help, Only VEH_NUM gets transferred to the screen. I think If along with the Vehicle number, If S_time is also transferred then the problem will get solved.
Search Help has 1 input(Veh_num).......and 3 Output fields( Veh_num, S_Date and S_time.).
Pls suggest.

Is ur Requirement is, that u need to select vehicle number and values corresponding to that
number i,e Date and Time should get displayed on the screen?.
Use Dictionary Fields if U Have, to define ur input/output fields
OR.
follow the below steps.
1) First Check the serach help which u have created works as per ur requirement.
2) The screen which u have designed has an input field(Vehicle Number).U may Have taken the
field from Progarm or any other variable to define it.Don't do that.
3) First Create a structure from SE11 and Define fields Vehicle Number and Date and Time.
4) Assign Search help to the field Vehicle Number in the Structure.
5) Use this Struture in your screen desigining.
6) Then it automatically picks up the values and dislplays on the screen for a corresponding vehicle number.

Search help on screen elements

Hi I have a screen where I need to include a seach help on the screen element. The element itself is just a generic char 8 field with no dictionary reference. I have tried using the VRM_SET_ VALUES in the PBO but as soon as I press enter it looses the value selected. So I have now tried the using the process on value_request but despite finding and populating 138 values in the search help pop up, the actual pop up screen shows a blank list, with the text at the bottom saying 138 values.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

we are upgrading 4.6c version to ecc 6.0 past january. but in
vk11/vk12/vk13 condition master records sections, we have a problem for
one data type search help. when we want to join sales deal code to sales
detarmination condition, at one tables rows type price list (data type =
pltyp_d) does not allow f4 (search help).

I per your suggestion i did like this ,
data : date1 like sy-datum.
types : w_date1 type sy-datum.
date1 = w_date1(ztable-date1). "ztable-date1 - is screen field.
but it is giving error "The field "W_DATE1" is unknown, but there is a field with the similar name "DATE1" . . . ."
actually that value is coming after triggering PBO event but i want that value in at time of calling F4 help at that screen filed
suppose on screen the fields like
date : 30.08.2008.
matnr : ( .............F4 ) '".....on this field when i m pressing F4 that time only that above date materials should come as per my first query see my first thread.

Sorting problem in standard vendor search help

Hi all,
I'm enhancing the vendor search help.
I found that there is a sorting problem in the original standard search help.
The 1st time to search vendor in the search help returns a correct list, then I just sort the vendor in ascending order. This time the column name of the hit list changes and mismatch the actual values.
Any one faced this problem before?
What's wrong are there ?

But even I don't enhance the vendor search help, I still found that the original standard version has this problem after sorting.
Is that the program bug?
