I am getting error while installing OEM Grid control (with existing database) at OMS Configuration. So, I cancelled the installation and deleted all databases and started the instal again. I am still getting an error at OMS configuration.
I am trying to read through the threads here to see if anyone has solved it. I see a lot of threads on this topic but not sure how you guys resolved it.
    Can anyone help here.
In the oracle installer, I see the message : The c:\oraclehomes\agent10g\cfgtoollogs\configToolfailedCommands" script contains all commans that failed, were skipped or cancelled ....
--in this file, all I see is:

It looks like the installer can't connect to your existing database.
Can you ensure that your listener is servicing the already existing database.
lsnrctl status -> will list services
Make sure the database you want to use as your repository is there.

    Regards,

    Hi,
If you want to use EM 11g Grid Control on 64-bit Linux, you should install version 11.1.0.1.0, which is available from here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/linuxx8664soft-085949.html
Note that the latest version of EM is 12c; however, if you still want to go with EM 11g, the following Support note documents the installation steps and has references to other helpful notes:
Step by Step Installation of Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11.1.0.1 (Doc ID 1059516.1)
By the way, the Concepts guide below has information about the EM 11g components including the OMS and agent:

  • Where  I should install Oracle Grid Controll Management  ?

We have 4 Intanium HPUX production servers and used for Oracle RAC application. We also have 2 dev-nodes for the same RAC application.
Now it has been suggested to install Grid Control Management. Some feel we should use a Window server to install, and some feel we should use one of 4 hpux production nodes. Some others feel we could use one of 2 dev-nodes.
Within these 3 options, which one of options, you would like to recommend, and please list reasons in detail, since I need to present to the management.
We don't have any budget to purchase any dedicated servers.
I personaly would choose one of hpux servers as well, since all these 4 RAC nodes reside on hpux.
    Thanks for your inputs.
    vkk

Window staff wanted to put it on Window, but, hpux staff wanted to put on hpux ....Such behaviour is quite normal ;-)
In case of gridcontrol I don't see platform-dependent advantages and disadvantages. Others in the community here may disagree. One point to consider may be the sequence when new releases or patchsets are launched:
Currently Linux is the first platform followed by Windows (hard to believe for some people). Then the 'rest', Solaris,HP-UX,AIX.

    Hi,
If you want to use EM 11g Grid Control on 64-bit Linux, you should install version 11.1.0.1.0, which is available from here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/linuxx8664soft-085949.html

If connecting remotely, you need a Xserver running on the client machine.

  • Oracle Installer Problem while installing Oracle 9i on HP Unix

    Hi Everyone ,
I had earlier installed 9.2.0.1 on Linux and had no probs whatsoever . When i am trying to install Oracle 9.2.0.1 on HP Unix , the Oracle Installer opens up a window saying CHOOSE JDK HOME DIRECTORY . I have already set the PATH environment variable to point to /opt/java1.4 and /opt/java1.4/jre/bin and also JAVA_HOME to point to /opt/java1.4 . Even after trying to put the directory information it refuses to go thru giving the Error INVALID JDK HOME.PLEASE ENTER CORRECT JDK LOCATION.
Any replies would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    Ravi

This could be due to you have multiple JDK homes like java1.4 and java1.3. Instead of type JDK home in the windows box, try to browse and select the JDK home and try it. Otherwise, if you have multiple JDK homes, then try to remove one of them.

  • Connectivity Problem while installing Oracle

I have been trying to install Oracle Personal Edition of 8i on Win 98 PC, after successfull installaion I get a very common Oracle error : ORA-12541 TNS : no listener, when I try to connect to SQL Plus.
I am unable to resolve it, tips reqd.
    thanx in advance.

    Hi Sanchayan,
thanx for the reply, I tried what u suggested. But there is no such file on my PC, when I searched I found a file named 'lsnrauto.exe' in the BIN directory, tried started that by double-clicking but it didn't work. So anything else that you can suggest ???

    Hi,
Check if the OracleTNSListener service is running. If not, open a cmd window and give the command -
    c:> lsnrctl80 (corresponding exe in 8i!)
    lsnrctl80> start
this will give errors if there are any
    in the listener.ora file.
Otherwise, check that the entry for the
database is proper in this file!
