Problem with AS10g - Discoverer

Hi to all.
I have installed the Oracle AS 10g without anyone problems!
I start Discoverer plus - http://< address >/discoverer/plus.
When I try to connect with an EUL I receive this error:
Unable to connect to the Discoverer server: model.xml.Property id for oracle.disco.model.corbaserver.EULImpl. Please contact your Application server administrator
What is the problem?
Please help me
BR, Carlo

Is your EUL a supported version for your version of Disco Plus? (I think 9.0.4.45.0x requires a 5.0.2 EUL)

  • Problems with oracle discoverer 3.1

    Hi,
Recently we've been having problems with a (old) discoverer version. When multiple people open a workbook, the workbook tends to become corrupted. When a user tries to open it, he'll get a messagebox containing "attempt to open workbook has failed". When I copy/paste the workbook and attempt to open it, it works without throwing an error.
Is there some sort of workaround (I've tried setting the workbooks to read-only) or a reason which causes this behavior?
    Cheers,
    Frederik

Can you attempt to connect from the LMS server itself and see if the problem persists? From the java console output, paste the logs here so we can view it. Also what version of JRE are you running on your workstation?

  • Problem with opening discoverer plus by URL

    Hi Gurus,
I am opening the discoverer plus worksheet using a URL from another web page to skip the connections page. Here’s the hyperlink, I am using for the same
    ‘http://burs52:7779/discoverer/plus?&_plus=true&nlsl=en-us&cn=cf_a122&lookandfeelname=system&workbooksource=Database’
This would directly bring the 'Open workbook from Database' page with list of workbooks for the particular connection, but the problem is that every time it opens the discoverer plus it would automatically open the connection page(http://burs52:7779/discoverer/plus?) in the parent window(webpage with the hyperlink). This would confuse the end user.
Is it possible to avoid this? i.e keep the parent page unchaged
    Thanks in advance
    NJ

What version of Discoverer are you running? I'm assuming 10.1.2 but I would look at the 2 URL parameters
    pluspopup and framedisplaystyle
    From the Oracle Documentation:
When using popup in conjunction with framedisplaystyle=, the possible combinations are:
pluspopup=true and framedisplaystyle=embedded launches Discoverer Plus in a new pop-up browser window that contains the Plus applet embedded in it.
pluspopup=true and framedisplaystyle=separate opens a new pop-up browser window and launches Discoverer Plus in a new applet window.
This combination launches three windows: the original browser window (i.e. Discoverer Connections page), the new browser window containing the Discoverer image, and the JFrame window containing the Discoverer Plus applet.
pluspopup=false and framedisplaystyle=embedded launches Discoverer Plus in the current browser window.
See if those help you out, if not let me know and we can dig into this further

  • Problem with ejecution work book (determining run time)

Hello, I have a problem with the Discoverer Desktop (v. 10.1.2.1) db. Oracle 10G.
Whenever I execute a work book with my user in any equipment of the network
when determining the run time of the report is delayed , only with my user and
the privileges of the reports and tables is ok.
    excuse my english...
    thanks

It sounds like the problem with the query estimator. Basically, the query estimator IMO should be turned off for Discoverer as it's not Disco's best feature. As to why only you see it, are you sure it's not only when run on your PC?
If you click over to a 'very old' link I have at:
    http://proudman.homestead.com/files/optimizing_discoverer_on_client.htm
or at the bottom of this message I've copied it, you'll see #1 is the first thing you want to change.
You may not want to change #2 or #3 but take a look. Also, where the instructions refer to: Disco 3.1 just change to your version (ie: 10). Gotta' update that someday.

    3 REGISTRY SETTINGS TO CHANGE
    ============================
Note that for each of the three suggestions below, if the entry does not exist in your registry, then create it and set the value suggested.
    1. Database\QPPEnable
    type - DWORD, default 1
To Do: Turn off query prediction.
This can be done by specifying the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Oracle\Discoverer 3.1\Database\QPPEnable
It should be set to a DWORD value of 0 (zero). To re-enable query prediction at some later point in time, either remove the registry key or set it to 1.
    2. Database\QPPCBOEnforced
    type - DWORD, default 1
To Do: Stop query prediction forcing the use of the cost-based optimizer.
This can be done by specifying the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Oracle\Discoverer 3.1\Database\QPPCBOEnforced
It should be set to a DWORD value of 0 (zero) which means use of the Cost-based Optimizer (CBO) is not enforced. The CBO will follow the normal rules of the database server.
    3. Database\ObjectsAlwaysAccessible
    type - DWORD, default 0
To Do: Stop validating that the tables/views folders refer to exist and that the user has access to them.
This can be done by specifying the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Oracle\Discoverer3.1\Database\ObjectsAlwaysAccessible
It should be set to a DWORD value > 0 (ie: 1) which means validation will not take place.

  • Discoverer Plus - Problem with Page Orientation when printing pdf's

    Hi,
When printing pdf's in Disco Plus I have a problem:
My workbooks are a mixture of landscape and portrait pages.
I am printing the entire workbook and then using cutepdf to produce a pdf.
If I print to paper I get the correct landscape/portrait settings.
If I print to pdf then landscape pages appear vertically when I view on screen so that the text is running from bottom to top of the page.
So it is picking up th portrait/landscape settings from the individual worksheets but cutepdf has not realised that the pages are landscape so they appear on the screen vertically.
This was not a problem on discoverer desktop so I am confident that this is not a problem with cutepdf.
    Any thoughts?
    Justin

  • Discoverer Viewer Locale language - problems with data retrieved

Hi all, I have a very strange problem.
I'm using Discoverer Viewer 10g and when I connect to the same eul/database using Locale: Locale retrieving from browser, I see all my data different from "0" into my report; if I choose Greek as Greek's language I see ONLY "0" as data.
All the queries for the reports are always the same, but something has problems with the language chosen.
This doesn't happen, for example if I choose another language (Italian or French for example), but ONLY with Greek !!!!
Anyone have had a similar problem in the past ?
    Thanks in advance
    Alessandro

It appears as though there is a general JDBC problem. Please make sure your JDBC client is up to date with the Server. We have seen data conversion problems when there was a mismatch.

  • Strange Problems with Discoverer Plus 10g

    Hello All -
I'm working an exercise to bring an application online which uses Discoverer Plus 10g as its client. This application is located in an area that I don't have access to, so the symptoms I'll describe have been reported to me by users.
    1) When users log into Discoverer Plus and it launches, it does so with the iconic menu buttons (located below the pull-down menus) disabled and grayed-out. The users are forced to do all operations using the pull-down menus. This is a problem that is consistent across different PCs.
    2) When users do File....Save As.... the "Save Workbook to Database" window opens and the user is unable to modify the filename in the "New name" text field. If the user toggles the "View:" setting at the top of the window, they can then change the filename. This problem has only been reported by 2 users, but it's happening for them consistently.
    3) When a user creates a new report using File....New... the Workbook Wizard opens and all is normal until the "Workbook Wizard - Step 2 of 5: Select Items" page appears. On the items tab, the user activates the pull-down list to select the business area they want to use, and the business area name disappears when the users mouses-over it. So the user must click on the blank business area name to continue. This is a problem that is consistent across different PCs.
A number of the users' PCs have two Java versions installed on them like this:
    Platform     Product
    1.4     1.5.0_14
    1.5     1.4.2_16
I had them make sure that 1.5.0_14 is the only one enabled, but that did not remedy any of the above problems.
At this point I don't know what to try next.
    All help is greatly appreciated.
    Patrick

    Try the 1.4.2_06 java version
I suggest you remove other java version and stay with just one.
I do not remember but from some point the java version will use the higher there is and java 1.5 from my experience
is not working with the discoverer so well.

  • Severe problem with 'Drill to Related' using drill icon

    Hi
I have a severe problem with 'Drill to Related' in Discoverer Plus (10.1.2.54.25) using the drill icon of a worksheet:
    1. Though existing no items to drill to are shown in the context menu (or pop-up list), instead it says just 'Drill to Related...'
    2. Clicking on menue item 'Drill to Related...' results in 50% processor load (permanent) and no further update of the browser window (IE 7.0.5730.11) containig Discoverer Plus. There is no recovery of that state within about 20 minutes.
This behaviour is both highly reproducible and annoying.
When using the drill dialog instead of the icon the expected items are shown and 'Drill to Related' works fine. Although that is a workaround I don't think it acceptable to tell the end-users to use it.
I searched metalink for a hint but couldn't find anything.
    Can anyone help?
    Franziska

    Hi S
This seems to be a bug that was fixed earlier since we didn't experience it having applied cumulative patch 3 earlier.
Something might be said about your problem in Metalink
    Doc ID: Note:422575.1
Subject: Drilling With Discoverer Viewer 10g (10.1.2) Using Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) Fails With Javascript Error
We still had to apply the patch for the bug I mentioned earlier in this thread in order to be able to see and select an item to drill to. Unfortunately the problem with the processor load up to 50% and nothing happening is still there.
By the way IE 7 is certified now according to the Oracle certification information.
    Hope this helps

  • Connection problems with my MBA from Nov. 2011. It doesn't connect to home wi-fi. How do I fix this?

I have a MBA that I bought in Nov 2011 and have had serious problems with its wi-fi connection to my home router for the past 3 months. Initially it worked fine. The router works perfectly, as other PCs and devices connect to it without any problem.. All my software updates are OK (except one that says mid 2013 which apparently is not supported by my MBA?). I read in another thread a suggestion to delete all saved networks. That sometimes works, but not always. How do I fix this? I have tried calling Apple support but since my warantee is over (a year ago) they want to charge 50€ just for attending my call... shocking... Please, can somebody help me? Thank you!!!

Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. Continue if you find that Wi-Fi is faster with Bluetooth disabled.
From that same menu, select Open Bluetooth Preferences. If the box labeled Discoverable is checked, uncheck it. Click the Advanced button, and in the sheet that opens, uncheck the top three boxes, if any are checked. Click OK. Enable Bluetooth and test again.
If the application called "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" is running, quit it.
    Step 4
This step will erase all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 6
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Discover group problem with cross tab report

Hi, I'm working on a cross tab report in discoverer 4i and I'm having a problem with two of the colums. I'm doing a count on one field but because they are called something different they are being shown as two seperate columns rather than 1.
I have one called 101 -AVG and another called 101-AVG. My condition pulls every result back that starts with 101 in the table. So because in the table the values are different it breaks the count into totals for 101 -AVG and 101-AVG.
Is there some way I can group these results together into one field?
    thanks,
    Ian

    Pitson,
better to ask this question in the BI Publisher Forum than here in the Oracle Reports Forum:

  • Drill Out Problem with drill down

    Hello,
    help needed.

  • Having problems with pairing my Iphone 5 with other bluetooth  devices

I'm having problem with pairing my Iphone5 with other Bluetooth devices like another phone and bluetooth headphone.
I followed all the right instructions of the other device, but the Iphone just would not pair with them!!

You can not pair it with another phone at all. That's not a feature of the iPhone. Never has been.
As for the headphone, is it in discoverable mode?

  • I have problems with my Mac Book Pro after I upgraded it

I upgraded my Mac Book Pro from MAC OS X 10.9 to Yosemite version a week ago, and now it doesn´t start

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
To restart an unresponsive computer, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the power shuts off, then release, wait a few more seconds, and press it again briefly.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
    b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
    c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
    Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 4
If a desktop Mac hangs at a plain gray screen with a movable cursor, the keyboard may not be recognized. Press and hold the button on the side of an Apple wireless keyboard to make it discoverable. If need be, replace or recharge the batteries. If you're using a USB keyboard connected to a hub, connect it to a built-in port.
    Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
    Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
    Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
    Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • Safari update - problem with magic mouse

Hi all, I recently installed safari update to 5.1 (6534.50) on a mabbook pro OS X 10.6.8. Ever since update, I've been experiencing the problem with safari reloading pages and kicking me out of websites that use flash player (back to log-in screen). I can deal with that by using another browser, however the update has really messed up my magic mouse. At first, every time I put my macbook to sleep or shut it off, the mouse would stop responding when I woke the mac up. I would have to disconnect the mouse and reconnect. But this was really eating up my batteries, so this morning I shut the mouse off when I put the mac to sleep. Now it won't connect at all. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!

    Thanks Carolyn and Barry,
I did what Carolyn suggested - moving the .plist file into the trash. I have not resetting the PRAM or SMC yet.
When I go to system preferences>Bluetooth, I get a screen that says:
Bluetooth power is off. To use Bluetooth, first you must turn it on. (Note - my mouse is turned on)
Both ON and DISCOVERABLE are checked.
In the middle of the screen, it says No Devices (Set Up New Device...)
When I select set up new device, it finds my device and attempts to pair but is unsuccessful.
Resetting the SMC and PRAM scares me. After reading the links that Carolyn provided, I remembered another weird issue I had with my mac shortly before the update and mouse issue. For some reason, my clock suddenly became out of sync and I was on a 2000 date. I got an error message and reset the clock manually. Could this be the cause of my mouse issue? I feel like every step I've taken to get my mouse working again has made the problem just a little bigger!
    Thanks again for helping me!

  • Problems with cell phone bluetooth hackers

Hi there, I have been having problems with someone accessing my machine through the wireless bluetooth system. The logs prove it and there seem to be no way to shut down or dissable the modems. There is more than one it seems. I have reformated my drive and reloaded operaring system. As I was going throught the initial state of the machine like firewall settings printer settings and wifi, the changes that I was making were being changed back. I have checked the remote settings like the remote screen set up and and then a cell phone mac address poped up. Is there code that I can write to the EFI to not load this bluetooth because I have spent countless hours trying to figure this out. In my Sony Viao I had such a go around with this It took me almost six weeks before I gave in and took it in to the shop. Today I was setting up the home network and public came up an then 2 and 3 was below it. NTUSER.DAT is respocible and I can't get rid of that either because one is keeping the other running. Computers aren't supposed to be like this I know . IF someone could help I would appreciate all that I can get. Thanks in advance.
