Problem with building EJB with inheritance

I've created a EJB project in my workshop 8.1.4 application.
Since all my tables contains a common subset of columns, I'd like to create a superclass for all CMP entity beans which contains the handful of CMP fields and business methods pertaining to them.
I tried to do it in Workshop by creating a new superclass (BaseEB.java) which extends GenericEntityBean class.
When building, the script tries to run ejbgen on BaseEB.java, which obviously fails because BaseEB does not contain all the required @ejbgen tags, as it is not meant to be used by itself.
I think the solution is a matter of making the build script bypass BaseEB.java, but how can that be done?.

This is my base EJB. There are some @ejbgen tags defined, but it does not have all required ejbgen tags, especially in the class javadoc. The classes that extends from this are expected to define them.
package occ;
import java.util.*;
import weblogic.ejb.GenericEntityBean;
public abstract class BaseEB extends GenericEntityBean
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public void touch(String username){
          java.util.Date currDate = new Date();
          setUpdateDateTime(currDate);
          setUpdateUsername(username);
          setUpdateTimeID(new Long(getUpdateTimeID().longValue() + 1));
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public void setCreateBy(String username){
          java.util.Date curr = new Date();
          setCreateUsername(username);
          setCreateDateTime(curr);
          setUpdateUsername(username);
          setUpdateDateTime(curr);
          setUpdateTimeID(new Long(1));
      * @ejbgen:cmp-field column = "UPDATEDATETIME"
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public abstract void setUpdateDateTime(Date val);
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public abstract Date getUpdateDateTime();
      * @ejbgen:cmp-field column = "UPDATEUSERNAME"
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public abstract void setUpdateUsername(String val);
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public abstract String getUpdateUsername();
      * @ejbgen:cmp-field column = "CREATEDATETIME"
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public abstract void setCreateDateTime(Date val);
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public abstract Date getCreateDateTime();
      * @ejbgen:cmp-field column = "CREATEUSERNAME"
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public abstract void setCreateUsername(String val);
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public abstract String getCreateUsername();
      * @ejbgen:cmp-field column = "UPDATETIMEID"
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public abstract void setUpdateTimeID(Long val);
      * @ejbgen:local-method
     public abstract Long getUpdateTimeID();

  • Problem with inheritance and outputting values in toString.

    Hey guys, i'm having a major problem with inheritances.
    What i'm trying to do with my program is to create objects in my demo class. Values are passed to several other objects that each do their own calculations of grades and results and then outputs the result in my toString. I followed step by step the instructions in my book on how to setup the inheritance and such. I can only output everything that was created in my superclass, any other thing that was created in an object that belongs to a subclass does not display in the output at all.
    Even if I change or create new instance variables, I can't figure out for the life of myself how to output the other values.
    Because there's so much code to be splitting on the forums, I zipped my whole project in a RAR. I'll link it here
    http://www.4shared.com/file/ZleBitzP/Assign7.html
    The file to run the program is CourseGradesDemo class, everything else is either a subclass or superclass to some part of the program. After you run CourseGradesDemo, you will see the output, and understand what displays and what stays at 0.0 value. If anyone can help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance.

    Not gonna happen. Provide an [url http://sscce.org]SSCCE. And don't say you can't. You definitely can. You may have to spend an hour building a new program from scratch and getting it to reproduce the problem, but if you can't or won't do that, you'll find few people here willing to bother with it.

  • Problem with inherited Objects

    Hi,
    I have a problem with inherited objects inside Flex using
    wsdl as the source of the object. The AS-classes are generated
    inside Flex Builder 3.
    Inside the wsdl I have 2 complex types:
    <complexType abstract="true" name="PersistentObject">
    <sequence>
    <element name="id" nillable="true" type="xsd:string"/>
    <element name="insertTimeStamp" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:dateTime"/>
    <element name="insertUsername" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:string"/>
    <element name="updateTimeStamp" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:dateTime"/>
    <element name="updateUsername" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:string"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    and
    <complexType name="Contact">
    <complexContent>
    <extension base="tns3:PersistentObject">
    <sequence>
    <element name="birthday" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:dateTime"/>
    <element name="firstName" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:string"/>
    <element name="lastName" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:string"/>
    <element name="middleName" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:string"/>
    <element name="newPassword" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:string"/>
    <element name="password" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:string"/>
    <element name="title" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:string"/>
    <element name="username" nillable="true"
    type="xsd:string"/>
    </sequence>
    </extension>
    </complexContent>
    </complexType>
    The classes in actionscript seem plausable:
    public class PersistentObject
    * Constructor, initializes the type class
    public function PersistentObject() {}
    public var id:String;
    public var insertTimeStamp:Date;
    public var insertUsername:String;
    public var updateTimeStamp:Date;
    public var updateUsername:String;
    and
    public class Contact extends PersistentObject
    * Constructor, initializes the type class
    public function Contact() {}
    public var birthday:Date;
    public var firstName:String;
    public var lastName:String;
    public var middleName:String;
    public var newPassword:String;
    public var password:String;
    public var title:String;
    public var username:String;
    When I want to retreive an object of type Contact, it seems
    that only a couple of entries are filled. While debugging the flex
    XMLDecoder, I noticed something strange. It seems, like the decoder
    is expecting the result xml data to be in alphabetical order:
    birthday, firstname, lastname, etc. But since the object is
    inherited, the data that is actually received contains elements
    from the parent class: birthday, firstname, id, inserttimestamp,
    The resulting object has just birthday and firstname filled,
    which is somehow wrong. This seems to be a problem inside the
    parser itself. What can I do?

    I am having a problem with an extended class as well.
    When I step through the code, everything is going fine and the decoder (mx.rpc.xml::XMLDecoder) sees that the class is an extension and wants to get the values for the superclass first.  When it gets into getApplicableValues(), it's looking for the values to be in the order of the definition which would be ok if the values collection didn't include the values from the subclass as well!  It goes through the whole definition and doesn't find anything for the superclass because the values aren't where it expects them.  When it pops back up to the subclass and starts to decode those values, it finds them because the definition order and values order match.
    Is this a known issue?  Or, am I misunderstanding something?
    Thanks,
    Chuck

  • Strange problem with Inheritance

    Hi,
    I have a Strange problem with Inheritance which I think should work, but doesn't.
    I have 3 classes in 3 different packages.
    Class A in package 1 is abstract
    Class B extend class A is also Abstract and is in package 2
    Class C extend Class B and is in package 3
    When i do the following
    C c = new C();
    A a = (A)c;
    I get a class cast exception
    Any ideas?
    Jag

    That should work fine. Can you check the exact classes created (using: System.out.println(c.getClass().toString()). You may have accidentally created an instance of a class with the same name but from a different package.

  • Having a problem with inheritance and a constructor

    i have two classes, i'm just going to give the constructors anyway. I'm having trouble getting the CDImage constructor to inherit something from songs, I believe the instructions are missing something or the cs lab guy misinterpreted them.
    package songs;
    import java.text.*;
    public class Song implements Comparable {
        private int songLength;
        private String artistName;
        private String songName;
        public Song(int songLength, String artistNames, String songName) {
            this.songLength = songLength;
            this.artistName = artistNames;
            this.songName = songName;
        }These are the instructions that i beleive may be incorrect:
    Design a CDImage class to represent a music CD. The constructor takes three parameters: the title of the CD, the recording label, and the number of tracks on the CD. (Each track contains one song.) The CDImage class uses the Song class developed above and should contain methods to accomplish the following:package songs;
    import java.text.*;
    public class CDImage extends Song {
        private String title;
        private String label;
        private int numberTracks;
        private Song[] songs;
        public CDImage(String title, String label, int tracks){
        this.title = title;// this is the album name
        this.label = label;
        numberTracks = tracks;
        songs = new Song [numberTracks];
        }i know i need to use the super modifier under the constructor but how? because nothing in the constructor of the CDImage class refers directly to the constructor in the Song class
    thanks in advance.

    you know whats funny, this project has to do with arrays of objects and not inheritance. We learned inheritance last week but the lab we are doing which is this, is for arrays of objects. sorry for the confusion lol. so you can completely ignore this, it actually has it in big bold letters at the top of the web page for the lab.

  • Nested templates - problems with inheriting editable/repeating regions

    I have made a template called 'basic', with 2 sections, 'maincontent' and 'sidecontent' then nested a template in it called 'home'. In 'home', I have made repeats of some regions (sidecontent) and edited them to make a section I want on all 'home' type pages. When I make  a new document from 'basic', it has all the same editable and repeating regions as 'basic'. But when I make a new document from 'home' there are no editable or repeating regions, either in 'sidecontent' which I edited or 'maincontent' which I didn't. I want to be able to edit 'maincontent' when I make a new document from 'home', to make repeating regions and edit them. Please can you advise me what to do?
    Thanks

    When I tried to attach the files it automatically zipped them again, so I have put the code above.

  • JDeveloper UI editor problems with inheritance (?!)

    Hi,
    I've created a superclass which extends JPanel and adds a setPanelBinding method, a getPanelBinding method and a member variable named panelBinding. This class looks similar to the dataPanel class BC4J provides but the set and get methods are protected as is the panelBinding member variable.
    When I subclass this class and reference the panelBinding variable in the jbInit method of this class everything compiles fine. But when I open this class in the UI editor I get an error message in the console telling me the panelBinding variable can't be references in the jbInit method. Why can't JDeveloper reference this variable? When I try to use the subclass on for example a Form I get to see a red placeholder in the UI editor (probably because of the same error). My class compiles fine so it has to be some kind of limitation of the UI editor, or am I doing something wrong here?
    Regards,
    Peter

    Currently the UI Editor cannot reference inherited members, regardless of scope. An enhancement request has already been logged for this: #2222848.
    However, if your subclass has successfully compiled, you should be able to instantiate an instance of it in a second file (i.e. inside a JFrame). If you are seeing a red place holder object it is because the UI Editor was unable to instantiate an instance using reflection. The most common cases for this are: 1) Class does not have a public default constructor 2) UI Editor is unable to evaluate the arguments being passed into a non default constructor 3) Class is abstract and thus uninstantiable

  • Inheritance problem with parent class calling child class

    I have a problem with inheritance with a parent class calling a child class method. Below is the example pseudocode code and my problem:
    public abstract class A {
        protected void function1 ( ) { }
        protected void function2 () {
             //calls function1();
             function1();
    public abstract class B extends A {
        protected void function1 ()  {
             // do stuff
    public class C extends B {
        protected void function1 ()  {
            // do stuff
            super.function1 ();
    }I have an object instance of class C created and its function2() is invoked.
    My problem is, while in function2(), which belongs to abstract class A and the method call to function 1() is called, the call invokes the function1() of class B. Shouldn't the call invoke function 1() of class C instead? And then function1() of class B will be called after due to the super.function1(). It's not behaving like I thought it would.

  • Problem with Dynamically accessing EJB Class objects in WL 7.0 SP1

    I am trying to build a component which has the ability to instantiate and execute
    an known EJB method on the fly.
    I have managed to build the component but when I try and execute it I get a ClassNotFoundException.
    I know that the EJB I am trying to invoke is deployed and available on the server,
    as I can see it in the console, I also seen to have been able to get the remote
    interface of the object, my problem occurs when I try and access the class object
    so I can perform a create on the object and then execute my method
    The code I have written is below:
    private Object getRemoteObject(Context pCtx, String pJNDIName, String pHomeBean)
    throws Exception {
         String homeCreate = "create";
         Class []homeCreateParam = { };
         Object []homeCreateParamValues = {};
    try {
    //This call seems to work and doesn't throw an exception
    Object home = pCtx.lookup(pJNDIName);
    //However this call throws a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException
    Class homeBean = Class.forName(pHomeBean);
    Method homeCreateMethod = homeBean.getMethod(homeCreate,homeCreateParam);
    return homeCreateMethod.invoke(home, homeCreateParamValues);
    } catch (NamingException ne) {
    logStandardErrorMessage("The client was unable to lookup the EJBHome.
    Please make sure ");
    logStandardErrorMessage("that you have deployed the ejb with the JNDI
    name "+pJNDIName+" on the WebLogic server ");
    throw ne;
    } catch (Exception e) {
    logStandardErrorMessage(e.toString());
    throw e;
    Any advice would be really appreciated, I'm fast running out of ideas, I suspect
    it has something to do with the class loader but I'm not sure how to resolve it

    Hello Joanne,
    Congratulations! I'm very happy that you've managed to fix your problem. It's
    always essential to understand how to package applications when deploying on BEA
    WebLogic. Usually, by throwing everything into an EAR file solves just about all
    the class loader problems. :-) Let us know if you have any further problems that
    we can assist you with.

    Thanks to everyone who gave me help!!!!
    The class loader was the culprit which is what I suspected all along.
    As soon
    as I put the 2 jar files I was using into an EAR file the problem went
    away!!!!!
    Thanks again

    Hello Joanne,
    As Mr. Woollen mentioned, I also believe it's a problem with the class
    loader.
    You need to be careful how you arrange your EJBs, because WebLogic has
    a specific
    method in which it loads classes in an EAR, JAR, and WAR file(s). Please
    refer
    to http://dev2dev.bea.com/articles/musser.jsp for more information about
    BEA WebLogic
    class loading mechanisms and caveats. Also, try printing out the various
    methods
    that are available on the object that was returned to you via reflection.
    For
    example, use the getMethods() method, which returns an array of Method
    objects
    that you can subsequently cycle through and print out the various method
    names.
    This way you can discover if the class found/returned to you is indeed
    the one
    you intend to locate.
    Hope this helps,

    I believe the issue is the home interface class for this EJB is not
    available in the class loader which is doing the reflection.
    If you do:
    getClass().getClassLoader().loadClass(homeInterfaceClassName)
    I suspect it will fail. Reflection still requires that the class be
    loadable.

    Hi Ryan,
    I also wanted to mention that if you do a "header search" in this
    particular
    newsgroup
    with the search query as "reflection", you will see many previousmessages
    regarding
    reflection and EJBs. I believe you could learn a lot from thedifficulties
    that
    others have faced and solved.I tried that and although there was a number of similar cases noneof them
    actually
    seem to fix my issue. Thanks for the suggestion though
    Are the EJBs that you are trying to access accessible via your
    system
    classpath?
    Try to avoid having them accessible via the main system classpath,and
    only bundle
    them in your appropriate EJB jar files (contained in an EAR file,for
    example).Maybe I should have laid the problem out a little clearer.
    I have a number of EJB's bundled up in a JAR file which is hot deployedto
    the
    server. Within this first JAR file is an EJB (SSB) component that
    needs
    to
    be
    able to invoke a known method on another EJB. This second EJB may
    or
    may
    not be
    within the first JAR file but it also will be hot deployed.
    The component trying to invoke the method on the 2nd EJB has to
    be
    able to
    create
    an instance of the 2nd EJB without actually knowing anything bar
    a
    JNDI
    Name which
    is passed in at runtime.
    I can get as far as doing the
    Object home = pCtx.lookup(pJNDIName);
    This returned a class with the name
    "com.csc.edc.projects.allders.httppostoffice.postman.PostmanBean_mp8qy2_Home
    Impl_WLStub"
    My problem seems to occur when I try and invoke the create method
    Method homeCreate = home.getClass().getMethod("create", new Class[0]);
    My code throws a java.lang.NoSuchMethodException at this point so
    I
    am
    unable
    to progress to the next step of :
    Object bean = homeCreate.invoke(home, null);
    So I can return the instantiated bean back to the calling client.
    Why am I getting the NoSuchMethodException, is is because I am gettinga
    stub
    back rather than the home interface and if so how do I get the truehome
    interface
    from the bean
    Thanks in advance

  • Problem with logging in to apex application builder listener

    I have problem with my settings and am posting this in hope that someone else out there had similar problem and solved it!
    I am trying to use reverseproxy to access to our db through apex listener.
    It's been all set-up and I can login to the application it self either through proxy or no proxy using the listener.
    But when I try to login to apex application builder I cannot do it through proxy(with no proxy, it works).
    It just refreshes the login page when I click login....
    I tried to upgrade the listener to the latest v1.1(using 1.0.2) but it causes my tomcat to crash...
    So solution i am looking for is how to make logging in work through proxy..
    In the firebug it is showing that below and few other request status as 302 moved temporariry
    http://myserver:8080/testsin/apex/wwv_flow.accept
    Where as with no proxy it is saying Found.....
    Any thoughts??
    Thanks
    Sin K

    Hello Sin K,
    so proxy and Tomcat are located on different machines as well? Is the proxy able to commuicate with the Tomcat on the configured internal ports and is the proxy able to lookup the hostname you configured for the Tomcat?
    For the connector, the proxyName and proxyPort should be the parameters the client uses to call APEX. So if your clients should call via http://proxyserver:8080/testsin/apex the settings would be
    proxyName=proxyserver
    proxyPort=8080Reason for this is that applications (e.g. the APEX Listener) generate there URL references with these parameters.
    But does your proxy actually serve on port 8080? And is that port accessible by clients? Do clients accept cookies from that server?
    In my case, there is only one 302 which redirects to http://host:port/apex/f?p=4500:1000:sessionid which is correct.
    If you look into your first post request in firebug, what's in the request header?

  • Problem with Application build in JDeveloper 11.1.5 to WLS 10.3.5

    Hi to everyone, I have a problem with a application build in JDeveloper 11.1.5 and deployed to a standalone WLS 10.3.5 ( with the JRF template appliied , to run adf applications )
    When I try access to the page : localhost:7001/myApp , it show me :
    "Error 403 Fordbbiben ".
    but when I put :
    localhost:7001/myApp/index.jspx, it show me :
    Error 500--Internal Server Error
    From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error
    The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
    and the log is :
    <May 8, 2012 9:06:22 PM BOT> <Warning> <oracle.adf.view.rich.component.fragment.UIXRegion> <BEA-000000> <
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: The expression "#{bindings.genRegion.regionModel}" (that was specified for the RegionModel "value" attribute of the region component with id "genRegion_dlg") evaluated to null.
    This is typically due to an error in the configuration of the objects referenced by this expression.
    If it helps, the expression "#{bindings.genRegion}" evaluates to "null".
    If it helps, the expression "#{bindings}" evaluates to "null". Now using an empty RegionModel instead.

    Error 500--Internal Server Error

    Regarding Pages charts, when I try to 'build' a 3D chart all I get is little dots but not graphics.  No problems with 2D charts though. Guess my question is "Help?"

    Sorry for the delay getting back to this.
    Thanks to Fruhulda and Peter for their comments regarding the refusal of Pages to let me make 3D charts.
    In answer to the questions put to  me in this regard :
    1. Pages version : Pages '09  v.4.1 (923)
    2. Mac O/S :          v.10.6.8
    3. 3D chart :          Can't find a 'name', but upright bars with rounded corners ???
    4. Moved apps :    Not that I'm aware of!  All should be as installed off the disc.
    5. A note :              I have been able to create these in the past - related to a SW update?
                          and ... can create these charts perfectly in Keynote (go figure).
    Thanks to all.

    Hi All
    I have problems with editing  (Using Report builder) existing reports  or creating new ones in SCCM 2012 R2 CU2
    We version of SQL we use is SQL 2008 R2 SP2
    I already asked this question in the SCCM 2012 forum but the problem is not related to SCCM but has something to do with application report builder
    I changed the registry key and edited the Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.exe.config.xml as described in the following link
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/smartinez/archive/2012/07/03/system-center-2012-configuration-manager-create-report-don-t-work-what-do-i-do-now.aspx
    Afterwards I try to edit an report I see report builder is being downloaded and after it generates the following error “Application did not succeed. Unable to continue”

    Hi Miss Katherine,
    1. I went through the SQL steps in the link you posted
    2. I updated the Reg Key and Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.exe.config file with 3.0 on both the
    server and the console machine.
    3. I copied the .DLL file from your OneDrive and replaced the existing one on the server.
    4. I uninstalled and re-installed the reporting role on the server and received the 1015 in the log.
    5. I restarted the server and the client machine
    I do get a slightly different error now after using the new DLL

  • Problem with Vision Builder and LabView: Error -1074395995, File not found

    I have created an inspection with Vision Builder AI 2009 SP1. In it I load some pictures from the HDD and run some checks over it. It works fine. Then I have migrated it to LabView 2010, I get a message that the migration is successfull, but when I run the VI on LabView I get a fail status. I have been checking my program and I have found and error when I try to load the picture from file: Error -1074395995 occurred at IMAQ ReadImageAndVisionInfo
    Possible reason(s): IMAQ Vision:  File not found.
    But I am not sure which file it refers to. At first I thought it was the picture I wanted to load, but I have checked the path and it is correct, so maybe it refers to another thing. What puzzles me most is that it works perfectly on Vision Builder and I have changed nothing in LabView, maybe it is a problem with the migration. Any clues?

    Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about. Put a break point here and see what the path is and compare that with what Vision Builder AI is using (described where to find this in the previous post). You could find where this global is used to make debugging easier.
    Hope this helps,
    Brad
