Problem with fireworks popup menu in dreamweaver, has a huge box.

hi, i made a popup menu in fireworks, and when i open that
html page in dreamweaver, there is a huge white box around the
popup menu area, so that i cant type anything under the menu or
anywhere near it. i was wondering how i get rid of this white box.
any help greatly appreciated. thanks. derek
here is the code

You have Dreamweaver, which is a wonderful and powerful
program for building HTML. So
why are you trying to build a navigation menu in Fireworks,
which is a graphics program? Please. I beg you! Save yourself hours
of headaches: create your graphics in Fireworks and your HTML in
Dreamweaver.
For example, this code would be impossible to maintain.
Here's one of your navigation items:
img src="untitled-4_r2_c2.gif" alt="" name="untitled4_r2_c2"
width="98" height="48" border="0" id="untitled4_r2_c2"
Do you even know which image this is or which link it's
intended to take? Create your images with decent names like
"contact.gif" or "products.gif" so you can write clear code.
The first row and the first and last columns of your table
have 1-pixel spacer gifs. Fireworks always puts in spacer gifs. If
you're not aware of them, and take them out, you might get to later
stages of your development process and wonder why you couldn't get
your navigation menu to line up with everything else.
As for that "big white box," it's a combination of the div
the table is in and the 100% width on the table:
div id="FWTableContainer1329034333
table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100"
I have no idea what the div CSS is doing, but if I comment it
out and take out the 100% width attribute on the table, then I get
something that behaves more reasonably. FWTableContainer1329034333
isn't in your code, but it still does something in my system, so
either the long strings of numbers don't matter or it's coming from
some place else and who knows what it is.
My point is, that by letting Fireworks write bad code for
you, you've set yourself up with something that doesn't work and is
extremely difficult, if not impossible, to debug and maintain. Why
would you do this to yourself?

  • Problem with Show Popup Menu in Dreamweaver 8

    I am trying to add the behavior show pop up menu to
    an image. When I try to I get the error While executing onLoad in
    ShowPopup Menu.js the JavaScript error occurred at line 2015 of the
    file ....Show PopupMenu.js type error
    dw.getNaturalSize(getFullPath(selobj.scr)) has no properties. How
    can I fix this I have tried everything I know Thanks Stuck2

    These pop-up menus as implemented in DW are quite bad, and
    while your error
    is most likely unrelated to your use of the menus, I felt I
    had to warn you
    that their use leads to a wasteland of failed efforts. There
    are much
    better ways.
    You can try this simple fix -
    Quit DW.
    Find this folder -
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
    (these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use
    Explorer > Tools >
    Folder Options to unhide them)
    or on Mac -
    Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Dreamweaver
    8/Configuration/MacFileCache-*.dat
    and delete it.
    Restart DW. Works better?

  • Fireworks Popup Menu in Dreamweaver

    I created a pop up menu in Fireworks that includes a few
    submenus. When I put it in Dreamweaver and post - some pages are
    okay. But for some...the arrow that points to the submenues is
    replaced with an X. As if the graphic is missing. What's going on?
    And any suggestions on how to fix it? I've tried everything. By the
    way - the popup menu is part of a template.
    Here's an example of the problem:
    http://www.salkeiz.k12.or.us/districtcenter/schools/index.htm

    > And any suggestions on how to fix it?
    This is an education site? If so, you really should be
    cognizant of
    accessibilty and usability issues. (of course, one should
    always be aware of
    that, but especially important for public sector sites).
    Alas, the menus
    that DW and FW create for you are complete and utter crap.
    The bottom line
    is: do not use them.
    Instead, consider one of these:

  • Problem with Pre-Popup-Menu in Hierarchical Tree

    Hi,
    In Forms 10g I have made an application with an Hierarchical Tree. All works well, except the use of the Pre-Popup-Menu trigger.
    In that trigger when I read the values of Node_Label and Node_Value I get the values of the previous selected node, not the values of the node on which I issue the right mouse click. So, it seems that by clicking the node I need is not selected.
    Does anyone have any clues to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Right clicking does not change the current selection. The tree has no way to report what node was right clicked. Only work around is to left click the node you wish then right click it.

    Sorry, but your CSS is has been mangled beyound recognition.
    The solution is to start with an untouched style sheet. Then add or modify the CSS testing in your browsers as you make the changes.
    Have a look at the following where I have positioned the menu. All that is now required is the styling for font and the hover event.

    Hi eddinchina,
    You should have no need to use the Old Sync account.
    As long as device or devices are Firefox 29 or later (They should all be Firefox 30 now) you should use the New Sync.
    You may use the same email address with both accounts.

    You need to use the credentials for the iCloud account that was used to turn on the Find my iPhone service.
    If you can't remember yours, you can recover it here: https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid
    If you've been walking around for 2 years with someone else's account set up for Find my iphone, then you'll have to get hold of that individual. If you can't, there is no way to bypass activation lock.

  • Adding delay to Fireworks popup menu?

  • Problem with Finder and Menu Fonts (uppercase A)

    Hello --
    I'm having a problem with fonts. All the characters that appear under icons in the Finder or in the menu for any application appear as uppercase As with boxes around them. There appears to be one uppercase A for each character that should be there. If I click-pause-click to edit the filename in the Finder, the text appears normal during the duration of the change, and then reverts to uppercase A with a box around it again. All other operation of the computer is normal.
    I was watching and downloading video files in iTunes when the problem appeared. When I pressed ESC to exit full-screen mode, the Finder said that my start-up disk was almost full, and I saw the font problem. Upon investigating, I discovered that my start-up disk was completely full (and the download had failed), so the first thing I did was move some video files to an external drive, which freed about 5 GB.
    Since freeing the space, I've tried the following to fix it, in this order:
    1. booted from Tiger CD to run Repair Disk from Disk Utility
    2. rebooted from the boot hard drive to run Repair Disk Permissions from Disk Utility
    3. run through Disk Warrior
    4. created a test admin user and logged in as that user
    5. removed font cache files using terminal
    6. booted in safe mode, logged in as myself, and then rebooted normally
    None of these actions has had any effect. The computer is still operating normally, except for the characters that don't display correctly.
    I'm running 10.4.6 on a Titanium Powerbook 500 MHz with 512MB RAM. A few months ago, I replaced the internal hard drive with an 80GB Seagate.
    Tibook 500   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi again, zoobieboots —
    I appreciate your initiating a new thread. Your post here helps to make the situation much clearer than in bmewolf's thread — particularly in terms of what you've already tried. Thanks again.
    A few initial thoughts —
        (a) As I was trying to suggest previously, you're apparently operating (after moving some files to an external drive) with ~6-10% (?) free disk space. Particularly given that you were working with large video files when this appeared, File fragmentation would be expected. While I haven't heard of this particular symptom resulting from fragmentation, that would be a concern to me — particularly since this immediately preceded the problematic behavior.
    I've read some good reports about iDefrag, but haven't used it myself. A demo version is apparently available for HDs < 100GB. But you'd presumably need to free significantly more space first (you haven't actually said whether 5GB or ?? is the total available now). Having never experienced severe fragmentation, I don't fully understand its consequences — but another participant may be able to explain this.
        <b>(b) You don't mention trying to troubleshoot potentially corrupt or incompatible fonts (or font caches), also as outlined in the other thread. As I suggested there, The X Lab's "undoing Font Book" FAQ is a useful resource in this.
        (c) Although I agree it may be an unsatisfying "solution," an Archive & Install did work for bmewolf in the case that you've indicated matches yours closely.
    I hope one of these suggestions is helpful. Please post back to discuss your progress.
    Regards,
    Dean

    JPEGs do not allow transparency, so forget about using JPEGs

    In the past when I work with my PC on Windows XP I didn't have this problem.
    Now I have a new PC with Windows 7 Familial Edition Premium.
    I can open he most pages I would like, .htm particuliarly but some of them like .html don't opened in Dreamweaver 8
    on PC with Windows 7.
    Example:
    With this page: http://www.pb-veille-consulting.com/veille.html
    I can open it with Dreamweaver 8 under Windows XP on my portable PC.
    But I can't open it with Dreamweaver 8 under Windows 7 on my fix PC.
    Where is the problem?
    You could watch the code of this page and perharps give me answers from my question.
    Thanks a lot.
    Patrick.

    It could be that Extensions.txt and MMDocumentTypes.xml do not have the full set file extensions.
    The first one can be located at ~username/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS6/en_us/Configuration and needs to have HTML added to line 1
    The second one can be located at ~username/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS6/en_us/Configuration/DocumentTypes and needs to have HTML added to line 3 so that it looks like
    <documenttype id="HTML" internaltype="HTML" winfileextension="html,htm,shtml,shtm,stm,tpl,lasso,xhtml" macfileextension="html,htm,shtml,shtm,tpl,lasso,xhtml,ssi" file="Default.html" writebyteordermark="false" mimetype="text/html">

  • How to create a splitted button with a popup menu?

    Hi,
    i am trying to build a button which can be clicked and an action is called (a normal button) and an addion to that basic function: there is on the right side of the button a seperated area with an arrow. If this arrow is clicked a popup menu becomes visible and you can choose a special action. This type of buttons (i don't know the name) can be seen by example in Eclipse or the Windows Media Player 11 or in Windows Vista).
    Here is an example image about what i mean: http://s2.imgimg.de/uploads/button56b4941cpng.png
    Can you tell me how to create a button with this possabilities?
    Please help me,
    greetings from germany,
    picard90

    hii,
    if you are want completed to define the Popup, then you have to define accesible areas,
    1/ create Popup (example from void)
    public void createPopupMenu() {
    JPopupMenu popup = new JPopupMenu();
    popup.addSeparator();
    ShowsManFxMenuItem = new JMenuItem("Show Details");
    ShowsManFxMenuItem.addActionListener((new ActionListener() {
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    //..some actions
    validate();
    repaint();
    popup.add(ShowsManFxMenuItem);
    MouseListener popupListener = new PopupListener(popup);
    //here is your listener directly to prepared object "yourButton"
    yourButton.addMouseListener(popupListener);
    2/ create POpupListener (example is class)
    class PopupListener extends MouseAdapter {
    JPopupMenu popup;
    PopupListener(JPopupMenu popupMenu) {
    popup = popupMenu;
    @Override
    public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {
    maybeShowPopup(e);
    @Override
    public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent e) {
    maybeShowPopup(e);
    //only in this block you can restrict anything with popup items (test anything and then to display all, only one, parts of them)
    private void maybeShowPopup(MouseEvent e) {
    if (e.isPopupTrigger()) {
    popup.show(e.getComponent(), e.getX(), e.getY());
    //these parts you can ingnore, but can covered extended events from popup
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    JMenuItem source = (JMenuItem) (e.getSource());
    public void itemStateChanged(ItemEvent e) {
    JMenuItem source = (JMenuItem) (e.getSource());
    protected String getClassName(Object o) {// Returns just the class name -- no package info.
    String classString = o.getClass().getName();
    int dotIndex = classString.lastIndexOf(".");
    return classString.substring(dotIndex + 1);
    3/ I removed all my addition
    ... kopik

  • Problems with data cache plugin - The ResultList has been closed

    I'm testing out the data cache to see if it helps some of my performance
    problems, but I now get lots of exceptions that I didn't get before I
    enabled the cache. Here's how I enabled it:
    # CACHE
    com.solarmetric.kodo.DataCacheClass=com.solarmetric.kodo.runtime.datacache.p
    lugins.CacheImpl
    com.solarmetric.kodo.RemoteCommitProviderClass=com.solarmetric.kodo.runtime.
    event.impl.SingleJVMRemoteCommitProvider
    The exception I'm getting follows. I'm curious if anyone has any insight
    into what's going on? I'm sure there is a problem with my code, I'm
    forgetting to close something or other but since it works fine without the
    cache I'm really stuck as to what it is.
    Thanks

    Michael,
    Could you send your test case to [email protected] so that we
    can take a look at what's going on to cause this exception?
    Thanks,
