I wanted to do length validation on entity, but when i put greater than 3 then my system is working if i enter 3 then it's giving error, i have taken Length Rule type also.

Hi,
What is the rule you specified? and What is the requirement?

  • Problem with Item Validation

    Hello,
    I am running an advanced tutorial: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e13363/issue_track_ui.htm#BGBJCGIC
    and I have a problem with item Validation.
    Tutorial offers the following:
    You must manually create another validation to ensure that the Actual End Date is the same or later then the Start Date.
    To add a validation for the Actual End Date:
    1.Under Page Processing, Validations, click the Create icon.
    2.For Level, accept the default, Item level validation, and click Next.
    3.For Item, select Project Details: 50.P3_ACTUAL_END_DATE (Actual End Date) and click Next.
    4.For Validation Method:
    a.Select PL/SQL and click Next.
    b.Accept the default, PL/SQL Expression and click Next.
    5.For Sequence and Name:
    a.Sequence - Enter 50.
    b.Validation Name - Enter P3_END_AFTER_START.
    c.Accept the remaining defaults and click Next.
    6.For Validation:
    a.Validation - Enter:
    to_date(:P3_ACTUAL_END_DATE,:APP_DATE_FORMAT) >= to_date
    (:P3_START_DATE,:APP_DATE_FORMAT)
    b.Error Message - Enter:
    Actual End Date must be same or after Start Date.
    c.Click Next.
    7.For Conditions:
    a.Condition Type - Select Value of Item in Expression 1 is NOT NULL
    b.Expression 1 - Enter P3_ACTUAL_END_DATE
    8.Click Create.
    Is there a mistake in explanation? I did it 3 times already, very carefully! I ran the page, entered the date, which is After the Start date, and get the error message: Actual End Date must be same or After Start Date!!
    Thank you for your consideration...

    I got it solved. I don't know if this is documented(or a bug) but what I did was declare an exception and then raise it and put the form_trigger_failure into the exception handler rather than raise form_trigger_failure in the body.
    declare
    alreadyExists exception;
    begin
    -- select .....
    raise alreadyExists;
    exception
    when alreadyExists then
    message('.....exists');
    raise form_trigger_failure
    end;

  • Problem with non-container managed entity manager

    i am working on a project, in which i am using entity beans.i use netbeans, glassfish as application server and toplink as persistence provider .
    i created a java class that handles all the operations with the entitys, which means i using non-container managed entity manager.
    in the constructor
    try{
                EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("voidPU");
                entityManager = emf.createEntityManager();
            catch(Exception ex){
                throw new EJBException(ex.getMessage());
            }then i call a function in this class from a servlet
    the code of the function
    List users = null;
            try {
                ProgLanguages progLanguage = entityManager.find(ProgLanguages.class, languageId);
                users = (List) progLanguage.getUserIdCollection();
            catch(IllegalStateException illegalStateException){
                throw new EJBException(illegalStateException.getMessage());
            catch(IllegalArgumentException illegalArgumentException) {
                throw new EJBException(illegalArgumentException.getMessage());
            }i got an IllegalArgumentException saying Unknown entity bean class: class vanguard.server.entity.ProgLanguages, please verify that this class has been marked with the @Entity annotation
    what confuses me is that sometimes it works and most of the time it does not work, have i made anything wrong?, or there is a problem with any of the tools netbeans, glassfish, or toplink?

    Is it always the same entity that is reported as 'unknown' ? You mention that it works sometimes but is it the same deployment and the same code that works? The first thing I would verify is that the ear is being created as expected by netbeans. Check the persistence.xml file and verify that all of the classes are listed that will be used as entities.

  • Problem with date validation

    The enclosed trivial sample illustrates a problem I'm experiencing with validating dates
    The date field is initialized when the form opens.
    Once the form is open,  click the button and a popup appears saying there is a validation problem with the date field. Yet if the date is selected with the date selection widget the appearance is exactly the same, but without the validation problem. What's going on?

    OK, I've solved this, but I am hoping some kind person can tell me why I solved it.
    On the trivial form I enclosed before before, the "click" script used to say
    xfa.forms.recalculate(1);
    Now I've changed it to
    xfa.forms.recalculate (0);
    And I no longer see the undesired date validtion errors when I click the button. (See updated enclosure on this post).
    The difference is supposed to be that, if the parameter is 0 (or false) then only "pending" calculation scripts are fired, and if 1 (or true) then all calculation scripts are fired. So what does it mean to my DateTime field having unjust validation errors? The DateTime field has no calculation script, only an iitialize script.

  • Problem with length of 45 in RSPARAMS for RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS FM

    Hi experts,
    While using the function module RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS to fetch the contents of variant, it is returning the values upto 45 characters as the internal table is of type RSPARAMS and the low and high values are of 45 characters in length.
    This will create a problem especially if you use a file path on the selection screen with length more than 45 characters and while using the FM, it returns the value of the file only up to 45 characters.
    I also tried another solution provided in the forum like below using import statement and database cluster but it is still returning 45 characters.
    Can some body help on this issue please?
    I have searched the entire forum for this problem..I could see some answers but they don't resolve the problem yet.

    I had the same "is not a known entity type" error when running under a development environment Eclipse/Tomcat using Toplink. But the almost same code and configuration worked when running under Eclipse as a stand-alone Java app.
    Eventually I figured out (actually trial and error), that I had checked the toplink-essentials.jar libraries to be exported under: Eclipse Project/Java Build Path/Order and Export. I was messing around with libraries. Unchecking the export option there fixed the problem.
    While its unlikely that this could have been your exact problem, I would check the library order and export configurations. Looking at other message boards about this problem, many seemed to have been caused or fixed by playing with their libraries.

  • Help with certficates - problems with CSSMERR_TP_NOT_TRUSTED & validating

    I'm having problems with my machine, and it appears to be a certificate problem. The problems first started showing up with codesigning and when trying to re-install XCode. I've been trying to understand things through keychain, but I don't know if what I'm seeing is normal or not.
    I've got two copies of Apple Root CA and Apple Root Certificate Authority in my keychains (one of each in "System", one of each in "System Roots"). I have no idea if that is normal or if that part of the problem. These all show up with "This root certificate is not trusted". I'm assuming that's OK, maybe that's part of the problem? (They are all have trust set to "use system defaults").
    The Apple Worldwide Developer Relations intermediate certificate that I download from Apple doesn't appear to find or trust the Apple Root CA (in keychain, the AWWDR shows "This certificate was signed by an unknown authority, and keychain "evaluate" doesn't find a root certificate, even though Apple Root CA is in the keychain).
    Note that the AWWDR certificate says that it's issuer was Apple Root CA, serial number 25, version 3, but the Apple Root CA certificate says that it's serial number 2, version 3. I'm not sure if that makes any difference.
    The big problem is that because of what I believe to be certificate problems, I'm getting the CSSMERRTP_NOTTRUSTED error reported when I try to codesign or even when I try to install the iPhone SDK.
    I did have my motherboard replaced a couple of months back, but things were working just fine (including codesigning) after that, and suddenly stopped working (I don't know when, I just know that I noticed the problem around Oct 12).
    For what it's worth, the error when trying to install XCode (with iPhone SDK) is:
    10/16/10 12:20:02 PM Installer[1582] Failed install preflight: Error Domain=PKInstallErrorDomain Code=102 UserInfo=0x19dd99d0 "The package “iPhoneSDKTools.pkg” is untrusted." Underlying Error=(Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-2147409622 UserInfo=0x1aa22360 "The operation couldn’t be completed. CSSMERRTP_NOTTRUSTED")

    Reinstalling Snow Leopard from the original DVD seems to have cleared up the problem. My Apple Root CA certificate now shows "valid".

  • Problem with custom validated data types using domain on 11g

    Hi,
    I ' m on a migration process from 10 to 11 and I notice that a custom domain didn't work correctly anymore
    to be more specific every time that I was submiting a page a was getting an error cannot convert from myclass to oracle.jbo.domain.String
    I search the forum and I saw a similar problem
    Cannot convert type class java.lang.String to class oracle.jbo.domain.Clob
    at which Frank says that it is a known bug and suggests a work around.
    I use the workaround and it worked but some more issues came up:
    1. If the validation fails I get the error that I throw at the validate method not in a popup with just my message
    but in the whole window with the whole error stack, meaning that my custom validation is not handled like native ADF validation errors by
    the framework (at 10.1.3.4 worked OK)
    2 If i dont give a value at the attribute in the validation phase mdata variable is not null but is length is zero (at 10.1.3.4 its value was null)
    public class AFM implements DomainInterface, Serializable {
    public AFM(String val) {
    mData = new String(val);
    validate();
    private String mData;
    protected void validate() {
    // ### Implement custom domain validation logic here. ###
    mData==null // returns false
    mData.length()==0 // returns true
    3. Can i force validation only for new or updated values? I saw that the validation process is taking place every time a row is fetched.
    This is not only a performance issue, the bigger problem is that if a fetched from the DB value fails the validation an error is return but the
    user cannot change the value to correct it.
    TIA
    Tilemahos

    since i don't get any answer I wonder if i should have use a more provocative title like
    "custom domains in 11g don't work"
    is it true?

  • Problem with ejb 3.0 entity beans with manyToMany relationship

    Hello everyone!
    I am using struts 1.2.9 and java ee 5 sdk update 2 for my enterprise application. Besides others i have these entity beans Targetgroup.java and City.java, (i would upload file but i do not know how:)
    with manytomany relationship with join table.
    when user updates Targetgroup, by clicking on web page with checkboxes and textfields, struts dispatch action calls following method stateless bean:
    public void update(String firmId, String targetgroupId, String newGender, String newMinYearsOld, String newMaxYearsOld, String[] newCities) {
    TargetgroupPK pkForUpdate = new TargetgroupPK(targetgroupId, firmId);
    Targetgroup targetgroupForUpdate = find(pkForUpdate);
    targetgroupForUpdate.setGender(newGender);
    targetgroupForUpdate.setMinyearold(Integer.parseIn t(newMinYearsOld));
    targetgroupForUpdate.setMaxyearold(Integer.parseIn t(newMaxYearsOld));
    //pronalazenje gradva za koje je vezana ciljna grupa
    Collection<City> newCitiesCollection = new ArrayList<City>();
    for(int i = 0; i < newCities.length; i++){
    String tmp_city_name = newCities;
    City city_obj = cityFacade.find(tmp_city_name);
    newCitiesCollection.add(city_obj);
    targetgroupForUpdate.setCityidCollection(newCities Collection);
    parameter newCities represents names of cities which user checked on his update page. When the page is showen to him some cities are allready check because they were connected with Targetgruoup when it was created (targetgroup).

    exceprion is throwen ONLY when in parameter newCities are city names allready connected to Targetgroup. when NewCities contains names of
    City objects which are not connected to Targetgroup it works fine, but it's of no use for me, because user must be able to add or remove certian cities from relaionship with Targetgroup. I think it's because there are rows in join table that contain primary keys of city and targetgroup which are connected so perisistence manager cann't write them again.
    i thought it was going to figure it out by itself, and only update those rows.
    Does anyone know what is the problem and solution?
    Thanks! (forgive my spelling errors :)

    solved the problem!
    I moved code from sesion bean to struts action as follows:
    CityFacadeLocal cityFacade = lookupCityFacade();
    //prikupljanje novih podataka o ciljnoj grupi
    String newGender = ctf.getGender();
    String newMaxYears = ctf.getMaxyears();
    String newMinYears = ctf.getMinyears();
    String[] newSelectedCities = ctf.getSelectedCities();
    //niz imena gradova se prevodi u kolekcju objekata City
    Collection<City> newCitiesObjCollection = new Vector<City>();
    for(int i = 0; i < newSelectedCities.length; i++){
    String tmpCityName = newSelectedCities;
    City tmpCityObj = cityFacade.find(tmpCityName);
    newCitiesObjCollection.add(tmpCityObj);
    //setovanje novih podataka
    targetgroupForUD.setGender(newGender);
    targetgroupForUD.setMinyearold(Integer.parseInt(newMinYears));
    targetgroupForUD.setMaxyearold(Integer.parseInt(newMaxYears));
    targetgroupForUD.setCityidCollection(newCitiesObjCollection);
    //pozivanje update metdoe u session beany
    targetgroupFacade.edit(targetgroupForUD);
    //korisnik se vraca na stranu sa svim postojecim ciljnim grupama
    forward = mapping.findForward("backend.targetgroups");
    and now it works fine. I guess probelm was same transaction scope for Targetgroup and City entities. Now when they are separated it works.
    Thanks!

  • Noob Question: Problem with Persistence in First Entity Bean

    Hey folks,
    I have started with EJB3 just recently. After reading several books on the topic I finally started programming myself. I wanted to develop a little application for getting a feeling of the technology. So what I did is to create a AppClient, which calls a Stateless Session Bean. This Stateless Bean then adds an Entity to the Database. For doing this I use Netbeans 6.5 and the integrated glassfish. The problem I am facing is, that the mapping somehow doesnt work, but I have no clue why it doesn't work. I just get an EJBException.
    I would be very thankfull if you guys could help me out of this. And don't forget this is my first ejb project - i might need a very detailed answer ... I know - noobs can be a real ....
    So here is the code of the application. I have a few methods to do some extra work there, you can ignore them, there are of no use at the moment. All that is really implemented is testConnection() and testAddCompany(). The testconnection() Methode works pretty fine, but when it comes to the testAddCompany I get into problems.
    Edit:As I found out just now, there is the possibility of Netbeans to add a Facade pattern to an Entity bean. If I use this, everythings fine and it works out to be perfect, however I am still curious, why the approach without the given classes by netbeans it doesn't work.
    public class Main {
        private EntryRemote entryPoint = null;
        public static void main(String[] args) throws NamingException {
            Main main = new Main();
            main.runApplication();
        private void runApplication()throws NamingException{
            this.getContext();
            this.testConnection();
            this.testAddCompany();
            this.testAddShipmentAddress(1);
            this.testAddBillingAddress(1);
            this.testAddEmployee(1);
            this.addBankAccount(1);
        private void getContext() throws NamingException{
            InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
            this.entryPoint = (EntryRemote) ctx.lookup("Entry#ejb.EntryRemote");
        private void testConnection()
            System.err.println("Can Bean Entry be reached: " + entryPoint.isAlive());
        private void testAddCompany(){
            Company company = new Company();
            company.setName("JavaFreaks");
            entryPoint.addCompany(company);
            System.err.println("JavaFreaks has been placed in the db");
        }Here is the Stateless Session Bean. I added the PersistenceContext, and its also mapped in the persistence.xml file, however here the trouble starts.
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    import javax.persistence.EntityManager;
    import javax.persistence.PersistenceContext;
    @Stateless(mappedName="Entry")

        public boolean addEmployee(long companyId) {
            return false;
        public boolean addBankAccount(long companyId) {
            return false;
    }That you guys and gals will have a complete overview of whats really going on, here is the Entity as well.
    package ejb;

    Well I don't understand this. If Netbeans created a Stateless Session Bean as a facade then it works -and it is implemented as a CMP, not as a BMP as you suggested.
    I defenitely will try you suggestion, just for curiosity and to learn the technology, however I dont have see why BMP will work and CMP won't.
    I also don't see why a stateless bean can not be a CMP. As far as I read it should not matter. Also on the link you sent me, I can't see anything related to that.
    Maybe you can help me answering these questions.
    I hope the above lines don't sound harsh. I really appreciate your input.
    Best regards

    As mentioned above, the textbox would not get validated if it was empty.
    Maybe I could create a function attached to the "required" attribute of the textfield's tag that was dependent on if the checkbox was checked or not?
    Is this the best way? Surely there are better ways to do validation across components.

  • Problem with XSD validation in Java 5

    Hi everyone,
    my application creates in memory schema using JDOM. In Java 6 validation runs fine, but in Java 5 (which is the target platform currently) it fails.
    I tried a second test with just parsing an existing XSD document (not created using JDOM) and that works.
    The textual representation of both (file and JDOM generated) are identical. If I replace the XSD file with the JDOM output, the "file test" runs fine, too.
    Here's the test code:
        protected void assertXsdValid(Source xsdSource, InputSource xmlInputSource) throws SAXException, ParserConfigurationException, IOException {
            isValid = true;
            SchemaFactory sf = SchemaFactory.newInstance(XMLConstants.W3C_XML_SCHEMA_NS_URI);
            sf.setErrorHandler(myErrorHandler);
            Schema schema = sf.newSchema(xsdSource); // <<--------- THIS LINE FAILS IN JAVA 5
            DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
            dbf.setNamespaceAware(true);
            dbf.setSchema(schema);
            DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder();
            db.setErrorHandler(myErrorHandler);
            db.parse(xmlInputSource);
            assertTrue(isValid);
        }This is the XSD:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://some.org/metamodel" elementFormDefault="qualified">
      <xs:element name="system">
        <xs:complexType>
          <xs:sequence>
            <xs:element name="name" type="xs:string" />
            <xs:element name="vendor" type="xs:string" />
            <xs:element name="version" type="xs:decimal" />
          </xs:sequence>
        </xs:complexType>
      </xs:element>
    </xs:schema>This is the error message I get:
    ERROR: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: s4s-att-invalid-value: Invalid attribute value for 'type' in element 'element'. Recorded reason: UndeclaredPrefix: Cannot resolve 'xs:string' as a QName: the prefix 'xs' is not declared.
    This is how I call the test code in the JDOM test:
            assertXsdValid(new JDOMSource(xsdDoc), new JDOMSource(xmlDoc).getInputSource());If I change the code to parsing not the JDOMSource, but a StreamSource reading the textual representation of the XSD, it works fine!
            assertXsdValid(new StreamSource(new ByteArrayInputStream(new XMLOutputter().outputString(xsdDoc).getBytes())), new JDOMSource(xmlDoc).getInputSource());But this is not what I want (I expect suboptimal performance with large XSD documents). So, if it works with Java 6, then why doesn't it work with Java 5?
    How can I use the Java 6 JAXP in Java 5?
    Thank you.

    A new user name?
    I can think of ways round your problem but can you first provide a reference that indicates that byte 0x80 is the MS936 encoding for the Euro?
    P.S. This is a forum and the vast majority of participants, including me, have no direct relationship with Oracle so getting definitive answers from Oracle via this forum is unlikely. If you think you have found a bug in 1.5 and/or 1.6, and I am not convinced you have, you need to report it via the bug database. If it is a bug then the response time for a fix is likely to be months rather than days.
    P.P.S No I can't explain why it works in 1.7!

  • Problem with foreign key in entity bean in WSED..Plzzzzz help!!!!!

    hi all,
    m very new to ejb...m crerating container managed entity bean in wsed..The steps I have followed r as follows,
    i) created 2 tables in database,one is PARENT with fields ID(Primary Key) and NAME and another is CHILD with fields ID1(Foreign Key) and NAME.
    ii)created 2 entity beans... 1st is parent with fields id(key field) and name(promote getter & setter methods to local interface)...2nd is child
    (choosed parent as bean super type) with fields id1 (promote getter & setter methods to local interface) and name (promote getter & setter methods to local interface)...
    iii)Generated EJB to RDB mapping(choosed crreate new backend folder->meet in the middle->use existing connection->choosed the tables parent & child in the database->match by name->finish)
    now m getting an error in Map.mapxmi--->"The table PARENT does not have a discriminator column"...and a warning--->"A primary key does not exist for table: CHILD in file: platform:/resource/NewFK/ejbModule/META-INF/backends/DB2UDBNT_V8_1/Map.mapxmi.     Map.mapxmi     NewFK/ejbModule/META-INF/backends/DB2UDBNT_V8_1     L/NewFK/ejbModule/META-INF/backends/DB2UDBNT_V8_1/Map.mapxmi"

    Hi Sandra,
    Many thanks for your response and providing time of yours.
    Now, I have done exactly the same thing, but still it is the same.
    I have created two new tables as below:
    ZAAVREF (Check table)
    MANDT (PK)
    COUNTRY (PK) Domain:ZAACOUNT (CHAR 10)
    ZAAV1 (Foreign key table)
    MANDT (PK)
    COUNTRY (PK) Domain:ZAACOUNT (CHAR 10)
    Then I have created FK on country of foreign key table ZAAV1 and then SE16 (for table ZAAVREF)->Create Entries-> Entered values for Country only->Save....Records entered with valid Country values.
    After that SE16 (for table ZAAV1)->Create Entries-->Entered an Invalid country->Save->Still the record entered to the Database successfully....
    Could you please let me know where I am going wrong.
    I am using SAP R/3 4.7 and creating tables using Tools->ABAP Workbench->Development->ABAP dictionary

  • UiXML: dataBinding problem with decimal validator

    I'm trying to use the decimal validator inside a uit template and dataBind the minValue, maxValue, maxScale and maxPrecision attributes to the ui:rootAttr dataObject like so:
    <textInput ...>
    <onSubmitValidater>
    <decimal
    data:minValue="minValue@ui:rootAttr"
    data:maxValue="maxValue@ui:rootAttr"
    data:maxPrecision="maxPrecision@ui:rootAttr"
    data:maxScale="maxScale@ui:rootAttr"/>
    </onSubmitValidater>
    </textInput>
    However that doesn't seem to work the validation never executes.
    But when I don't use dataBinding it works fine.
    Example:
    <textInput ...>
    <onSubmitValidater>
    <decimal
    minValue="0"
    maxValue="10"
    maxPrecision="2"
    maxScale="3"/>
    </onSubmitValidater>
    </textInput>
    Could it be that there is some bug with the decimal validator? I'm using the dateValidator in just the same way and it works fine.
    Guido

    We'll at least warn you of the problem starting in 9.0.5.
    Getting full databinding support in there may not happen
    by then.
    But there is a workaround today: databind the
    onSubmitValidater attribute:
    <textInput data:onSubmitValidater="decimal@someBean"/>
    ... to point to code that directly creates the
    DecimalValidater.
    public ClientValidater getDecimal()
    DecimalValidater validater = new DecimalValidater();
    validater.setMinValue(1.0);
    // etc...
    return validater;

  • Problem with undesired rounding of entity attributes of type Number

    Hello,
    We have an entity object based on an oracle database table. Some of the columns of the table are of type NUMBER ( without specified precision and scale) and are mapped to attributes of type oracle.jbo.domain.Number as is the oracle recommendation and default behaviour. We have a view object based on this entity. We are using JSF <af:table> component to show and edit the contents of the view object.
    In the database table we have values in the NUMBER columns like:
    -.0000000000000696421833421346
    8029.19708029197
    -364.9641231232332
    The problems is that these values get rounded to the 3th digit after the decimal point, without to have specified any formatting. The numbers shown in the <af:table> look like:
    -0
    8029.197
    -364.964
    We tested the ViewObject with the Business Component Browsers and there the values looked fine. In the JSF page we tried to comment out the <af:converter> but the result is the same.
    The problem is where these values are rounded to the 3th digit after the decimal point. Is that an ADF configuration?
    Please reply ASAP, the case is urgent, we are waiting on that to move our system to production.

    Hi
    I have a similar problem.
    I want to load xml data into a table using the OracleXmlSave class.
    There are long numbers to import (7638286488771946140)
    When the destination field is of type NUMBER(38), everything is alright. But when there is no precision specified (just NUMBER) the numbers are rounded to 14 digits
    7638286488771946140 -> 7638286488771950000
    When i insert numbers with TOAD, everything's alright, even with "just-NUMBERs".
    Any ideas?
    Daniel
