after downloading LR CC via my cloud account all I get is a quick splash screen and then nothing. Tried uninstall and reinstall and reboot computer -- neither helped. Running OS X 10.10.3

Never mind ... it worked the 3rd time I uninstalled / installed it!!

With the word 'automatically', yes you do need pulseaudio. I'm sure you could cook up some udev or related rule to do that in Alsa, but pulseaudio would be easier.

I've been using it on all of my computer without any problems. Remember you won't see any positive comments here. Everyone here is complaining about a problem. If you want a good experience with any upgrade or update first make a backup from which you can boot the computer. If you are installing an update, like 10.10.3 for example, always download and install the Combo Updater - OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update. Before you install any update or upgrade over an existing system you should do this:Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

If you have problems with Apple Apps after installing Mavericks

I had a problem with Apple Apps after installing Mavericks. They would bounce in the dock but never open. The problem apps I had trouble with were CALENDAR, MAIL, and even APP STORE. I am guessing it has to do with permissions when setting up via iCloud. Here's what I did to make my apps work again after the update:
Restart computer, then immediately hold down OPTION so you can start from the 10.9 RECOVERY DISK.
Run DISK UTILITY, then run REPAIR DISK, then run REPAIR DISK PERMISIONS.
After this, RESTART, then hold COMMAND OPTION P R at the same time until your computer restarts three times.
After it boots up, the apps began working like they should have.

I am having trouble with Light Room 4... Why is it so slow at random Times??

Problem being that at random when I am going along selecting images or editing, Light Room decides to slow right now and pauses on a picture saying LOADING for a good minute until finally loaded. Light Room is up to date. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled it. My computer is super fast - its Windows 7 with 64GB Ram and LOTS of Disk Space so there is NO reason for it to be acting this way.. cant someone please help me!

Is your internet connection through a router a wired Ethernet connection to a Ethernet router or a Airport card connection to a Wireless Access Point (WAP) router?
I'm not sure why you would upgrade to 10.4.3 when the OS X Update Combo 10.4.6 (PPC) is available. Especially if you're ever run third-party program installers that asked for an administrative password, be sure to run Disk Utility> Repair Permissions on the hard drive after the computer restarts.
If you normally shut down an OS X Mac overnight or leave it in system sleep, the cron maintenance tasks cannot run in their nominal 3 am timeframe. (Display-only sleep allows the maintenance tasks to run). Tiger 10.4.2 and later will force the maintenance tasks to run after sufficient time has elapsed. Otherwise, you can leave the Mac in display-only sleep a weekend or two a month; you can manually Force Background Maintenance; or you can use a third-party utility such as OnyX to run the maintenance. Several mysterious problems with Solaris 11 x86 install

I've recently installed Solaris 11 x86 as a replacement for Solaris 9 SPARC on an Ultra 2 machine. I like the operating system, but I've promptly acquired some mysterious problems. The computer is a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E2500 with a Pentium 4 HT 3.06 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, an 80 GB SATA disk and a 147 GB SCSI disk.
I have had a few occasions on which the screen goes totally blank, the monitor claims that there is no signal, and I have to restart the machine. However, with the blank screen, the hard drive activity light is sometimes still flashing. This happens predictably when I try to log off (as opposed to shutting down) and when I use Totem media player and click on anything inside the Totem window. The motherboard has built-in graphics and brief specifications can be found here:

Yesterday my PS/2 keyboard started causing the motherboard to beep crazily when I use it. It beeps rapidly 4 times, then prints the expected character. However, the problem doesn't occur at the initial log in screen. The mouse cursor has also gone beserk on one occasion, flying all over the screen (I had this problem with a previous PC, but a different OS, and thought it was a hardware fault, which I why I got this new computer). With the keyboard problem, the machine is basically unusable. However, it is configured as a dual boot machine, and the keyboard problem isn't present with Windows XP.
There are also a few smaller, odd problems. Occasionally all the icons vanish from my Gnome desktop. The command prompt also mysteriously changed from $chris@pluto to $bash-4.1 just before the keyboard problem appeared, although that might have had something to do with me copying my home directory to a different disk and editing the /etc/auto_home file (moving the home directory worked fine). Also, unlike with Solaris 9 SPARC, I find that I have to have external SCSI devices switched on at boot time, should I want to use them later. That's a pain. With Solaris 9, I could run "boot -r" when I first attached the device, then switch on the SCSI devices and mount them whenever I wanted.
After the useful advice I received here about "more" and "less", I thought I'd post these problems and see if anyone can help. I'd really appreciate some advice. Can anyone identify likely causes for these problems? Which problems can I expect to solve and which do I have to live with?

Problem with Light Table in Bridge CS6

Hi! After a re-install (which didn't fix the problem with PS), I now find that, when using the light table in Bridge CS6 and after hitting the space bar, if I then click on the image, it goes to 800% size! Prior to the uninstall & re-install, it worked perfectly in taking images to 100% size.

Why did you reinstall photoshop cs6?
What operating system are you using?
Did you reinstall all the updates for photoshop cs6 by going to Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6?
After you enter the light table, use your mouse scroll wheel to zoom back to 100% and exit the light table.
The next time you go to the light table and click on the picture it should only go to 100%.

Problem with Photoshop CS 6 install

I have a CS6 academic license. I installed it on my laptop without difficulty. But when i installed it on the MacPro I got two error messages "Could not load actions because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered" and "could not initialize Photoshop because the preference file was invalid (it has been deleted). This sounds like a bad download but it has occurred on several different downloads.

I got a call today Akash of Adobe, in Indiana is suspect, calling about another problem with an Adobe product, Lightroom, that I was having. I'd solved that one myself so I presented my problem with PS6 installation. At this point I had uninstalled PS6 but had the application installation file was sitting on my desktop. So he had me reinstall just PS6 (all the other apps in the Wed Design Suite we already installed). After entering the suite license number, which Adobe accepted, we procedure with a standard installation procedure EXCEPT just prior to the actual installation he had me hold down Command Shift Option keys. This led to a question about deleting a file with a YES-NO option being presented. Akash had me delete it and the rest of the application was successful! I asked exactly what we had deleted and I think that he explained that it was a corrupted "Preference" file. What I realized afterwards was I was unclear if this corrupted file was from a previous attempt to install PS6 or was a corrupted file from an earlier edition of PS (my PS5 is working fine and I haven't opened PS4 in quite some time since PS5 was fine). I purchased Adobe PSE 12 yesterday and the purchase went through. But I never received a confoirmation email from Adobe. Now, when I try to enter the serial number to install, I'm told there is a problem with the serial number and I must contact customer support. Can't get through to customer support though. What should I do? I desperately need to get this program installed. Thanks.

Purchased Light Room 5, installed, registered .. but keep getting this screen "An error occurred when attempting to change modules. ... OK" ?? WTF? ?

Just because you are the only user on the computer doesn't mean you are the administrator.
Also, the fact that you are being asked to re-enter your serial number each time you start means that it is not being remembered because something is either preventing it from being written to you disk or (less likely) something is erasing it. This does suggest that you lack certain permissions to make changes to your computer. Not only to save your serial number, but to have access to the Lightroom files needed to change modules (they are just plug-ins within Lightroom).
Try creating a new user account and run Lightroom from there (making sure that it is part of the Administrator group).

Problem with external HDD after installing updates in Mac os X 10.5 leopard

Hi,
I just went out to the store and bought a copy of the leopard.
I installed it with nothing attached to the computer. Everything went fine.
When I went to update the software I had two packages there that I updates, so I had to restart the computer. when it started again it indicated that it had problems with my Iomega Ultramax 1tb disk. It says that disk repair failed and that I only have limited access to the disk. and since it's ALOT of data on the disk, I don¨t rally got the tools to copy everything to another location and then erase the disk and copy everything back. So does anyone know if there's a solution to this.

When I'm using disk utility and use "verify disk" I get the following message:
"First Aid failed
Disk utility stopped verifying "UltraMax" because the following error was encountered.
Filesystem verify or repair failed."
