  • Mac Pro USB bluetooth dongle install?

Mac Pro 2006 with no Bluetooth card, I want to use my apple wireless keyboard/mouse and trackpad. Bought the IOGear GBU521 USB Bluetooth Dongle. I have a fresh install of Lion on an SSD Drive and another on a Hard Drive.  I have no Bluetooth Icon in the System Prefs menus on either Lion Boot drive. I reset the PRAM, SMC and tried booting with Snow Leopard which also didn't have the icon. Will attempt reinstall of Lion. Hoping someone can help so I don't have to install a bluetooth card.

Sorry, I meant the GBU421.   Got it initially as a cheap ($9 at the time holiday sale) experiment.  I guess the DBT-120 would have been the second choice if the GBU421 hadn't worked.  But it did so I never tried any others.
Note, I plug the dongle into the back of my 27" monitor so that it's within a 1'-2' of my mouse so there is no problems with the mouse.  But with this dongle, and I assume any other (which is why I never tried any other), when I sleep my machine (I never shut down) the power goes off on the monitor and computer (which goes into a standby mode).  This means no power on the dongle.  So you cannot wake up your machine using with BT devices.  I have a wired keyboard so I just hit a key on it to wake my machine up.
Another small "quirk" with the dongle.  Maybe about 15% to 25% of the time the mouse will not immediately re-pair.  Trackpad almost always does.  So when that happens I need to flip the mouse power switch to "get the machine's attention".   Then it re-pair shortly after.  I've just learned to live with this "quirk".  I assume other dongles may behave the same under these conditions.  Interesting enough, the re-pair is immediate when rebooting.

  • Satellite C660-108 does not boot if USB Bluetooth dongle connected

    Hiya,
I hope you would help me.
I am having an issue with my bluetooth dongle and satellite c660-108.
It works all perfectly. It connects devices via bluetooth and I can do everything I want.
But then when I am shutting down laptop and turning on again it won't go if the bluetooth dongle is still in the usb socket.
I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with black screen and blinking cursor in top left corner.
I have to turn it off, take out the bluetooth dongle and then turn it on again.
And then windows starts. After that I have to put in bluetooth dongle again if I want to work with it.
It is not a huge issue but it is a bit annoying when I have to take out the bluetooth and put it back again to get the windows started.
I am currently running under win 8.1 but had it already with win 8.
    Anybody any ideas??

    >I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with black screen and blinking cursor in top left corner.
Mostly the blinking cursor appears because the notebook cannot find an bootable device.
It looks like the unit cannot switch to the HDD while the USB dongle is connected.
I would recommend you checking the booting order in the BIOS.
Set the HDD at the first place and the USB as last possible booting device.
Save the changes and check if it helps.

  • Problem with Kensington Bluetooth PocketMouse on an iMac G5

    Hi
I got a new Apple Wireless Keyboard and a Bluetooth mouse with a scrollwheel (Kensignton PocketMouse Bluetooth Optical).
The Name and Battery Level information of the mouse does not show up on the Bluetooth tab of System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse, even though I can use it. This information appears for the Keyboard.
I am using an external prodigi USB Bluetooth dongle.
Also, the computer often fails to recognize the keyboard and the mouse when waking after a sleep. The LED on the dongle begins to glow constantly (normally it blinks on and off) and the fans begin to turn at a high speed. I have had to cold-restart the system thrice, after ~6 sleeps. I now have the old USB wire mouse and keyboard plugged in as well, for use until the Bluetooth devices are again connected and paired with the computer.
I found this from the Kensington FAQ for this product to help in some cases <http://kensington.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/kensington.cfg/php/enduser/stdadp.php?p_sid=xwm6GMPh&p_lva=&p_faqid=666&p_created=1125687529&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEm cF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTExJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9Ymx1ZXRvb3RoJnBfcHJvZF9sdmwx PX5hbnl_JnBfY2F0X2x2bDE9fmFueX4mcF9wYWdlPTE*&pli=> Having to restart the system after a sleep is not desirable at all. Also having two keyboards and two mice around the computer is more clutter as compared to the "wireless desktop" I had expected.
Does anybody have any tips to troubleshoot this?
    Thanks
    Prashanth

    Hi sherylfromco!
This issue with your father’s iMac regarding zooming and Yahoo mail could be related to his usage of the Apple Magic Mouse in Mavericks. Try getting him to turn off a feature of Mavericks called Smart Zoom, which is explained here:
OS X Mavericks: Use an Apple Magic Mouse
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14260
Regarding the second issue you mentioned in your post, could you provide more information on what exactly he may be doing when the request for authorization is presented? This could be normal behaviour, but I would like more information on it if you have more available. Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

  • K7N2 deltas mainboards have a problem with usb devices ??

    Ok here is my problem..
I had installed WinXP Pro with SP1..
I got a 20 GB USB2.0 disk.i connected it on the both front or rear usb ports.
When i tried to transfer files to my usb disk or to my PC, in the middle of the copying, i got "Write Delay Failed" error and lost my usb connection..
I had to plug it out and in again..
Now, i have an DSL modem..Last night, i was disconnected from internet and my modem's lights gone..I plug it again, no lights..restarted my PC, also completely shutdown Windows XP..Again no lights..
Then, formatted PC and installed windows 2000 Pr and SP4, until now, my modem worked fine..But USB 2.0 ports are still no use for my usb disk...
In bios , it's enabled as USB 1.1+2.0..
I think this K7N2 deltas have a problem with usb 2.0 devices and Win XP Pro..
Some guys talking about, removing 9th wire earth, but couldn't understand which wire from where ? From mainboard or from usd device's cable ?
Those cables are fabricated, i think it's impossible ?
My processor is Athlon 2500+, ram Twinmos 512 DDR 400
    Thanks for reply

I'm also having this problem. It's happening with my USB flash disk. I was almost buying another one when I tried it with Windows Vista on the same machine and it worked ok, then I tried Arch Linux (with kernel 2.6.30.5) on another machine and got the same error. After that I tried Ubuntu and it worked ok. Seems that Arch's kernel doesn't like my USB flash disk.

  • Problem with my Bluetooth resulting in auto rebooting.

I am having a problem with my bluetooth ever since I bought XPERIA mini st15i. The first time it occured, I took it to the customer care, they solved the problem. The problem did occur again after 2 weeks. So, I again took it to Service. They resolved it again. This problem has occured about 8 times. Ever since I tranfer some files through bluetooth from gallery or file explorer, the phone restatrs again and again. It shows the Xperia logo and then agin, it auto reboots until the battery dies off. I updated the phone yesterday and the problem is occuring today again. My warranty period is over,  so what can I do? In the warranty period, they changed my hardware but still the problem persists.
I think it's some kind of bluetooth bug. Can it be fixed?

download Sony Update Service and try this app http://www.sonymobile.com/ru/tools/update-service/ . Its helped me

  • Satellite M70-190 - problem with USB

    Hi!
After uninstall Windows XP and BIOS update, i have a problem with USB ports. My USB flash drive does't work. Windows find it as USB flash drive, but i can't find it in "My computer"
So have anyone idea about this problem?
PS External HDD works perfect, as USB mouse, and USB WiMax modem.
Im hoping someone out there can help with this problem.

Is described issue the same on all USB ports?
I mean, I have Satellite M70-159 in front of me and since long time I use 8GB SanDisc and 2GB Toshiba USB stick and both devices are recognized properly.
I still use original Toshiba WXP installation (updated of course).

  • I have problem with my bluetooth

Every time I turn on my bluetooth it ask me to pair the Bluetooth

I have problem with my Bluetooth too. I have iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1.1 and use some headsets from Plantronics, Jabra, Blade and have every time the same problem with any of them. The pairing procedure is going always very well, but when I switch off any of the headsets for longer tome, for example more than 1 hour and then switch on the headset again, the headset cannot be connected to the iPhone automatically, nevertheless that the Bluetooth is on in searching mode. Very occasionally I found out the following procedure which works:
Settings>General>Bluetooth Off>Bluetooth On> Tap on the device name to connect
    and the connection is established.
It is very bore to do this every time when I sit in my car and as usual I am in a hurry. I tried different thinks like to delete the device and pair it again or to reboot deeply the iPhone but nothing helps. Has anyone solution for this problem?

  • HT1222 Is anyone having problems with iPhone Bluetooth to BMW s since iOS 6.1

Is anyone having problems with iPhone Bluetooth to BMW s since iOS 6.1?

Yes. I had an iPhone 3G and when upgraded to 6.1 the bluetooth connectivity failed progressively and eventually the phone just wouldn't connect. I broke and reestablished the pairing am few times and each time it would work for a while then disconnect to the extent I thought the bluetooth hardware in the car was failing. I then got an iPhone 5 and the same issue remained. In the last few days I've paired an old Blackberry with the car kit to rule out the BMW hardware. Blackberry is fine so it has to be iOS incompatibility.
