Problem with using the import tool under User Admin role

Hello,
I have created a role through the import facility under the User Admin role:
[role]
ridpcd:portal_content/content....
rdesc=my role
Although I have recieved a successful message I couldn't locate this role, not when I was searching it in User Admin or under the pcd location where I asked to create it.
I then imported a transport package from another portal that contains a role in the exact same pcd location, this time an actual role has been created.
The problem is that when I try to use the import facility again to assign a group to this role I get: Error: Role found, but unique name "pcd:portal_content/..." is not unique!
When I search User admin for this role I get only one and when I go to this pcd location I only see one role so I don't understand this message and how can a unique pcd location cannot be not unique.
Any ideas...?

Try performing the import again, but this time do not use the fully qualified pcd path. Just specify the rid without the pcd definition. In otherword if you did a search in the user admin for the role ID you would not use the full pcd:rid just the rid value.
The alternative is to first delete the role and then import again. The reason you are gettign the problem is that the pcd generates a unique sid entry for the role and thus the manner in which you are performing the update using the full pcd path is not allowed. For this reason drop the fully qualified pcd path.

for whatever reason, the basic 'brush' you see in the brushes palette effectively means removing any brush from a path. to draw with the brush tool you need a brush defined. in your case the last one selected being the 5 pt oval one.

Help with using the pen tool

I have a few different problems with the pen tool.
1. When using the pen tool I keep finding that the shape I'm doing is slightly overlapping where I've already gone with the pen tool.
If I try and go over that area again the path I've just drawn then jumps and ruins the shape I was creating.
How can I stop this from happening?
2. Also is there a limit to the amount of paths you can create and add text to? I created two paths and typed on them fine but when I added a third path it refused to type. The cursor didn't change to show I could type and if I did click on the path line and try to type jumped to my other path and typed there. All paths were on different layers and none were overlapping, but it is 3 circles inside each other that get smaller if this makes a difference.
How can I type on the third path?
3. When I have done a path and clicked stroke it is only a thin line. How can I make this line thicker?

Ok, the first example would be something like this. Pretending the lines go elsewhere, say I've drawn a path with the pen tool, gone round the bottom box and that then goes round the two lines going down. So if I go down the one on the left side it hits the previous path I did, but to go up the line on the right side I'd need to go across there. But if I make a point where the two lines meet to do this it then throws the line off elsewhere.
I did have snap vector tools on but it does that without it on.
The next one I was creating a car speedometer so it has lines on the outside, dots inside of that and then, where I've done the blue circle, would be the third path where I then write the numbers in. But I can never write on that third path.
And finally, the pen tool and I think it dd have Shape Dynamics set. I've changed a couple of things and it looks a bit better now so I think that should be ok. Thanks
I know I haven't shown the panels but I haven't got any for the first as it won't go right so I deleted what I was doing. And each thing I've done is on a different layer for the speedometer, all just paths created with the circle tool with the text on.

Having a problem with using the brushes

I am going to post my problem in steps so that it is better understood.
1. I go to the brush menu at the top left corner
2. I go to the down arrow to select a brush
3. I see the brush choices
4. I want to scroll up or down to find the brush I want
5. the choices disappear and it will not let me view the brushes, only the one that is already visible is the one I can use.
Help me please! I can not find the answer to this anywhere. I have tried resetting the tools with no success.

There is a problem with using the new Hotmail attachment buttons with firefox 3.6.8

I use firefox 3.6.8 browser and was unable to use the new attach file buttons in the newest version of hotmail. .
I sent a help request to microsoft and got back a 'generic' answer that the new hotmail works with all browers; ie, safari, chrome and firefox 3.0+.
Well, that is not exactly true. Because I then troubleshot the problem by opening hotmail in ie vice firefox I was able to attach multiple files (pics/documents) with no problem.
I then went back to firefox and still had the same problem.
The mouse pointer just hovers over each icon where there should be a button and no clicking is there to be clicked....so, there is no way to attach.

Although possibly not related to your problem, I have to remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. On top of this, it has known unpatched bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum security, stability, performance and usability. Problems with using the 'Dip to Color' dissolve

On a short project we decided to use the dip to color dissolve. We wanted the scene to desolve to white and selected the color without problems, however, on applying the dissolve it goes to white as intended but then dissoleves to black halfway through the transition. We should like this to stay white and then fade to the the next scene from white.
Any suggestion would be welcome.

Well too me it looked ok, but I have now adopted a work around - by using opoacity over a white background on a lower track which produced the desired result.

Problems with using the singlewrite function (in the CWDIO control)

I'm using an old nidaq card (PCI 1200) with nidaq 6.9 (the card is not supported after this version).
I'm using a CWDIO control to send regularly orders to an other card (an order every 50 ms for example) using these lines of code :
CWDIO1.Ports.Item(1).SingleWrite (128)
CWDIO1.Ports.Item(1).SingleWrite (0)
The problem is that I have blanks in the orders sent. During 2 or 3 seconds, the orders are sent, no error or warning are made by the code, but the orders don't appear at the output of the card. After this blank period, the orders reappear (as if they were queued somewhere) and during 2-3 seconds the orders are well sent in real-time and a new blank period begins again ...
Where am I wrong in what I made ? I tried using CWDO control but I had some problems too (the Progress event doesn't raise)...

Are there known problems with using the PCI-8430/8 with windows 7?

I have several PCI-8430/8 cards (8 serial port cards) that were originally purchased to be used in Windows XP computers for the purpose of calibrating proprietary serial devices (using 9600 baud.). When my company transitioned to Windows 7 PCs (Dell Optiplex), I discovered that the PCI cards now collect data from our devices at a noticeably slower rate than previously experienced, with our calibration process taking nearly twice as long as it used to. It almost seems as if the ports can no longer be accessed asychronously. I have tried using several different versions of the Ni-Serial driver to resolve the problem, all to no avail. Has anyone heard of this problem, or know of a potential solution to speed up the serial communications with this data card?

You are correct that VISA is used in LabVIEW, but it can also be used from other programming environments.
I actually thought about what may be causing the performance difference. The ports on this board have 128 byte receive buffers for each port. By default they will wait until 64 bytes arrives before sending a batch of data to the computer. If you have less than 64 bytes received by the port, it will wait for a period of 4 bytes before deciding to go ahead and send the data to the computer.
The trigger point at which they decide to send data to the host is configurable, either through the advanced properties of the port in Device Manager, or through Measurement & Automation Explorer (NI-MAX). Configuring the receive buffer trigger point to a lower number can help decrease latency from your hardware, at the expense of increasing CPU usage. The best latency (and also the highest CPU usage) will be achieved by setting this value to 1, since it will always send the data back to the computer as soon as it arrives, and never incur the 4-byte-time delay before transmitting data back to your application.
I would suggest you look at the receive buffer settings on your XP machines which run quickly. If they are not set to 64, they have been customized for your application, and you will want to ensure you configure them the same way on your Windows 7 machines.

Check this code I have return a simple code for fetching data from MAKT.. Copy the data for text field directly from ZTABLE and paste it in your program. I feel there is some mismatch in the program it seems.

Basic is not a brush, only a starting point for you to make a brush. Load the real brush you want before beginning to draw.

If no good reason, such as the one suggested by Silkrooster, is present, you may try the list, hoping for one of the easy ones at the top.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:

Using the Import utility from other users and going to a different schema

I has a user today with rights
Insert into XXXX.TABLE values(); Works just fine for another schema's table which has select,insert,update,delete.
We tried to utiile the import utility from OTHER USERS
Insert failed ORA-00942
Do you want ot ignore all errors
Even though we have rights to the schema under OTHER USERS.
When connected as the owner it works fine.

I've be trying to find a work-around to this issue & found this old post -- I'm having the same problem.
I'm using Oracle 11g and SD 2.1.1.64.
I have user A with a table that grants select,insert,update, and delete privs to user B. Logging into user B I, of course, can do inserts, deletes, etc. on the the table in user A's schema.
When I use the import data feature to load data from a CSV file I can't get it to work while logged into user B. It does work fine if logged into user A. It looks like the issue may be that it doesn't put the schema prefix of "A." on the insert statements.
Has anyone found a way to get around this issue yet?

Upgraded to iOS 6 and now I can't open anything in the kindle app? I have to say that I have had my ipad3 for 6 months and intensely dislike the problems with using it. Also is there any way of opening more than one screen as it is hopeless otherwise?

I Have had my iPad for 6 months as I cannot access my work emails using windows. I have to say that it is the most unhelpful device I have ever used and although it looks like there isn't an answer for some of the questions I have asked below, I thought I would try!
1) I have upgraded to ios6 and the kindle app will open but crashes and disappears when I try to access a book?
2) is there any way I can open more than one page at a time, as opening one at a time is hopeless?
3) Is there any way you can replicate the right click function on word? As pasting and copying on the iPad is irritating to say the least!
4) why can't my Samsung 11 phone connect to my iPad via Bluetooth? A they can't seem to 'see' each other? I may have turned a setting off when I was recently abroad and didn't want huge roaming charges.
5) Why do the submit buttons on some websites not work and how can I get them to? I never have a problem with windows, but it is often a problem with the iPad.
6) I have several websites which I have built and usually upgrade on the windows desktop, usually through Internet explorer, but I can't access the sites properly on the iPad (I can see them but can't alter them) and when sending emails through the websites they won't show the page and I can't navigate the page (the size of the email page is bigger than the iPad screen, but I can't either shrink the page to size or move the page around as you normally would on the pad, any ideas?
7) finally, when roaming abroad recently, I had no problems using the wifi, but when trying to use the cellular data (using the roaming function) I could not get it to work? IT might just be that I don't have the correct settings (I am a technophobe) but I absolutely hate the iPad and only have it for work emails, it is so annoying that I can get my mobile phone and kindle3g to work fine, but always have problems with the iPad. I am sure it could be good (and for reading emails on the go in the uk it is great, as I like the key board) but it just seems to make everything else difficult.

Try rebooting your iPad, that should fix he issue. I that doesn't work, delete the app and re-download it. The Kindle books should all be in he Kindle cloud services and you can get them again. I have an iPad2 w/ Kindle app and it works just fine - no issues.

Page as in a kindle book way? turn iPad to landscape position from portrait position. If, however, you mean open more than one application at a time, then no. And not hopeless, as it takes a bit of time to get used to, going from a desktop/laptop format to tablet format.

It's actually fairly easy. Press down on the word, then you can expand by drawing your finger to cover word/sentence/paragraph/page, hit select or select all then it gives you the option to cut, copy, paste, define. If you want to use a word processing app on the iPad, Pages is a good application.

It's the connection on your phone. Samsung Galaxy SII? Android software? What you have to do is go to the phone's settings and connect via wireless, not Bluetooth. Go to System Settings (on phone) and under Wireless and Networks click 'more' and go to the Tethering and Portable Hotspot option. Set up your mobile wifi hotspot, name it though it will probably come up with 'AndroidAP', choose a WPA2 security level and put in a password. Go back to previous screen and turn on 'Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot' box. Then on your iPad in the Settings - Wi-Fi section, it should then recognize your phone for tethering. If it's a Windows Phone 7, I don't know the layout of that software, but presumeably similar.

Sometimes the issue is with the website design, not all websites are optimized for mobile devices - not just iPad but also Android devices. It happens. They're getting there, but occasionally the page might need a refresh.

It depends on what you use to build the websites on the computer. Recommend a free program on the computer called CoffeeCup Free HTML Editor. I don't recommend using IE period; Firefox or Chrome are my choices on Windows machines. I have two websites that I manage, both using this program. I'm assuming that when you mean you can't access the sites on the iPad you mean to update them? Ostensible there are apps to let you do this. What format are the sites? Without seeing what exactly you mean and what you want to do, it's hard to explain.
As for seeing full page while emailing within a site, turn iPad to portrait mode, and try to finger-pinch touch the screen to see if that will bring the fuller page into view. Other option is opening a second tab with same website and just go between tabs to reference material.

If you were outside the US or Canada, my guess is the problem lies within the SIM card in your iPad. If you were outside North America, there are different band levels - I'm guessing you have a SIM thats locked to a particular provider. Band level frequencies differ per country/continent, so a SIM card that will work in Canada/US will not likely work in UK/Europe/Asia/Australia, etc. you will be able to get your emails again when back on a wifi network. Mobile phone may have a different type SIM card (GSM/HSPA) from your iPad SIM. Also, check your email settings.

Moving the cursor on a sentence is a matter of putting your finger on the screen where you want it. It's exceptionally easy to do. I'm using the Notes app to write this whole segment and I just need to put my finger where I want to change things and presto it's ready for me to change where I want it.
Here's a solution: sell your iPad (after you wipe your data off it) to someone who will appreciate it, and put your money towards the Windows Surface Tablet out later this year/early next year, where you can (reportedly) connect a mouse to it. It will have some of the Windows 7/8 functionality that you're more familiar with, or get a netbook.

I did find a second copy, but this is identic with the one I already had in Lightroom, and I can see noe result of the clone process.

At the moment I would say it is uncertain whether Acrobat is completely ignoring the change, or whether the changes you are making aren't affecting the ink density. I have a suggestion for a test you could make to see which is the case.
When editing in Photoshop just add a box or mark on the image, for your tests.
- If this box does not appear in Acrobat, you know Acrobat is not seeing the edit
- If this box does appear in Acrobat, you know the problem is that your tool for changing ink densities is not taking effect.
