Problem with VPN timeout on Cisco ASA5505

Hi i'm sorry if it's vague, but i'm coming here without any  config simply because i don't have access.
At work we have 1 Cisco ASA5505 which is used for IPSEC VPN only.
We have 4-5 users that work 100% from the VPN (8h per day 40h per week)
The problem we have will be the disconnection.
We have 1 user that will never never never have the problem (he can stay log all 8h if he wants to)
The 2nd user can get disconnected, but mostly if the VPN stays on for too long without any action.
Me and the other user can get frequent Disconnection in a day, but  it's all random (1 days i can get disconnected 0 times and the next day 3 times)
I am using Mac OS 10.7 (just like the one that never gets disconnected and the one that gets disconnected randomly)
The other person who gets disconnected alot is on Windows 7 32 bits with Cisco Client.
On my side when i get disconnected there is 2 problem i see (it will happen to the windows person too)
1) When i'm working on servers sometimes i won't be able to click anywhere and i see that my connection is still on, so i need to close it manually wait 2 minutes then reconnect.
2) When i check my VPN connection it simply disconnected alone.
Thanks for possible solutions.   (also the windows client had another PC Before and she said it never disconnected, but it started on new PC)  (Before she was on WinXP)
Thanks

  • Problem with VPN client on Cisco 1801

    Hi,
    I have configured a new router for a customer.
    All works fine but i have a strange issue with the VPN client.
    When i start the VPN the client don't close the connection, ask for password, start to negotiate security policy the show the not connected status.
    This is the log form the VPN client:

  • Still having problems with VPN access

    Hello!
    I am having problems with my VPN clients getting access to the networks over a MPLS infrastruture. I can reach these resources form my Core network (172.17.1.0/24) and my Wifi (172.17.100.0/24) but not from my VPN network (172.17.200.0/24). From the VPN I can reach the Wifi network (which is behind a router) and the rule that allows that also allows access to the other networks but for some reason it is not working.
    When I ping inside the core network from VPN I can connect and get responses. When I ping to the Wifi network, I can get responses and connect to resources there. A tracert to the wifi network shows it hitting the core switch (a 3750 stack) @ 172.17.1.1, then the Wifi router (172.17.1.3) and then the host. A tracert to a resource on the MPLS network from the VPN shows a single entry (the destination host) and then 29 time outs but will not ping that resource nor connect.
    I've posted all the info I can think of below. Any help appreciated.
    *** Here is a tracert from a core network machine to the resource we need on the MPLS:

    Hi Roger,
    I bet you already checked it, but does the MPLS end router has route to VPN client subnet 172.17.200.x (or default) pointing to core rtr)?
    Also, if the MPLS link has any /30 subnet assigned, you may need to include that as well in Object group LAN-NETWORKS.
    Thx

  • VLAN problems with SG200-8P and Cisco ASA 5505 (Sec Plus license)

    Hi,  I've been pulling my hair out trying to get simple vlan trunking working between these devices.
    Basically, no clients on VLAN 99 (guest) will receive DHCP ip addresses when plugged into the SG200.  I have the SG200<>ASA VLAN trunk configured correctly, as I know it, and I've tried numerous variations (set trunk as general tag/untagged, etc., set the ap port to general tag/untag, etc).   Both AP's work properly when connected to the ASA e0/3 port but either will only pull the "inside" VLAN dhcp address when connected to the SG200 switch
    VLAN 1 - inside (has separate dhcp scope assigned by ASA)
    VLAN 99 - guest (has separate dhcp scope assigned by ASA)
    SG200
    purpose
    ASA 5505 (Sec Plus license)
    purpose
    g2
    Trunk 1UP,99T
    Ubiquiti AP (VLAN 1 works, VLAN 99 does not
    g3
    Access port 99T
    vlan 99 does not work
    g8
    Trunk 1UP, 99T
    < Trunk between switch and ASA >
    Int e0/2
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,99
     switchport trunk native vlan 1
     switchport mode trunk
    Int e0/3
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,99
     switchport trunk native vlan 1
     switchport mode trunk
    Second ubiquiti AP
    Both VLAN 1 and VLAN 99 clients work properly

    Frustrated - yes.  Confused - maybe not as much, but I could have put some more effort into the overall picture.
    There are two VLANs (1 - native) and (99 - guest).   There is a trunk port between the SG200 and the ASA configured as 1-untagged 99 - tagged.
    No clients connected to the SG200 on VLAN 99  are able to access the ASA VLAN 99 using either a static VLAN IP address or DHCP.   The problem occurs whether I configure the SG200 with an access port 99-tagged or Trunk port 1UP, 99T or general port 1U, 99UP or any combination thereof.
    Anything connected to the SG200 on the native VLAN works properly.
    Anything connected to the ASA VLANs (1 or 99) works properly
    I have not yet tried to see what the switch is doing with the VLAN tags but I suspect I have some mismatch with the Linksys/Cisco SG200 way of setting up a VLAN and how traditional Cisco switches work.
    I was hoping someone with a working SG200 - Cisco ASA setup could share their port/trunk/VLAN settings or perhaps point me in the right direction.
    SG200 g2 - trunk port (1UP, 99T) -- Access Point
    SG200 g2 - access port (99U)
    SG200 g8 - trunk port (1UP, 99T)  connected to ASA5505  e0/3
    ASA5505 e0/3  (switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,99,  switchport trunk native vlan 1,  switchport mode trunk)
    Thanks,

  • Has anyone had this problem with VPN iPad vpn connection could not validate the server certificate

    Has anyone had this problem with IPad 3 after upgrade to IOS 7,
    trying to to connect VPN , but I get this messag, "could not validate the server certificate".
    I am trying to connect to Oracle VPN.

    Has anyone found a solution for this yet? I am still getting the could not validate server certificate error. I have tried importing the entire certificate chain as well as importing each individual cert in the chain. My certificate works perfectly with the cisco vpn on my pc.
    This is my first experience owning an apple product, and I am very disappointed with the customer support that I have received. I tried calling the help line and no one would even attempt to answer my question. I was then told that the Mac "geniuses" wouldn't know either and that I may be able to find an answer on the message boards. So I am reaching out to the community...Has anyone been able to figure out how to resolve this issue or even the specific cause? Any help is appreciated.

  • Problem with VPN Client passthrough on ASA 5505

    I am having a problem with passing through a VPN client connection on an ASA 5505. The ASA is running version 8 and terminates an anyconnect VPN. The ASA is using PAT. When the inside user connects with the VPN client, it connects but no traffic passes through the tunnel. I see the error
    305006 regular translation creation failed for protocol 50 src INSIDE:y.y.y.y dst OUTSIDE:x.x.x.x
    UDP 500,4500 and ESP are allowed into the ASA. Ipsec inspection has also been setup on a global policy, but the user still cannot pass traffice to the remote VPN he is connected through.
    At the Main Office we have an ASA 5510 that terminates a site to site VPN, allows remote connections with PAT and allows passthrough no problems. Any ideas?

    I am having a simuliar issue with my ASA 5505 that I have set up. I am trying to VPN into the Office. I have no problem accessing the Office network when I am on the internet without the ASA 5505. After I installed the 5505, and there is internet access, I try to connect to the Office network without success. The VPN connects with the following error.
    3 Dec 31 2007 05:30:00 305006 xxx.xx.114.97

    HELP?

  • Problem with VPN Client and network access

    We are running VPN client 4.0.1 on our laptops, and there are a number of users who are getting documents they are using on the internal network (off VPN) corrupted. The initial cause seemed to be the stateful firewall, but I have that turned off, and we are still getting it.
    It only seems to be on the machines with VPN client installed, and it is only happening when the user is working on a file direct from the network drive. They are not connecting via the VPN client when the problem occurs.
    any suggestions?
    William.

    Did you get any joy with this ? We seem to be having the same issue.

  • Problem with perl Net::Telnet::Cisco  for Solaris 10 SPARC

    hi all,
    I have problem with installing this modules : Net::Telnet::Cisco,TermReadKey-2.30.tar.gz.
    I'm trying to install this packages Net-Telnet-Cisco-1.10.tar.gz, and the it notifies me that I need to install before the TermReadkey, I get it from www.CPAN.org -TermReadKey-2.30.tar.gz

    using export PATH=$PATH:/usr/ucb and try ... do it No, please don't. There is no compiler in /usr/ucb, and it is probably a very good idea to compile without /usr/ucb in your path. /usr/ucb/cc is only a wrapper to extend a very old SunOS compatibility environment onto an existing compiler.
    If you don't have the current Sun compiler suite on your machine (go ahead and download it, it's free), then you can use gcc by invoking "perlgcc" instead of "perl" on the module's makefile.

  • Problem with VPN by ASA 5505 and PIX 501

    Hi
    I have this scenario: Firewall ASA 5505, Firewall Pix 501 (with CatOS 6.3(5) ).
    I have configured this appliance for Easy VPN (server is ASA) and PIX, and remote Access with Cisco client vpn (for internal lan ASA).
    When i configure the ASA i have this problem, when i configure nat for easy vpn.
    This is my nat configuration:
    nat (inside) 0 access-list 100
    nat (inside) 1 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
    nat (inside) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0
    nat (inside) 0 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 outside
    when i put this command:
    nat (inside) 0 access-list no-nat
    this command is necessary for configuration of easy vpn, but the previous nat:
    nat (inside) 0 access-list 100
    is replace with the latest command.

    To identify addresses on one interface that are translated to mapped addresses on another interface, use the nat command in global configuration mode. This command configures dynamic NAT or PAT, where an address is translated to one of a pool of mapped addresses. To remove the nat command, use the no form of this command.
    For regular dynamic NAT:
    nat (real_ifc) nat_id real_ip [mask [dns] [outside] [udp udp_max_conns] [norandomseq]]
    no nat (real_ifc) nat_id real_ip [mask [dns] [outside] [udp udp_max_conns] [norandomseq]]
    For policy dynamic NAT and NAT exemption:
    nat (real_ifc) nat_id access-list access_list_name [dns] [outside] [udp udp_max_conns] [norandomseq]
    no nat (real_ifc) nat_id access-list access_list_name [dns] [outside] [udp udp_max_conns] [norandomseq]

  • Problems with VPN and Windows Network Shares

    I'm in the middle of a Windows domain migration and I've setup the two way trust for the domains.
    Cisco VPN clients authenticate against the old domain.
    A user with an account in the new domain and whos laptop is joined to the new domain (also has a user account in the old domain) can connect to the VPN but is asked for Windows authentication when they connect to a network share in either domain.
    Users whos account/laptop are in the old domain don't have this issue.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

    This may happens because broadcasts do not go through an IPSec tunnel.
    Browsing Network Neighborhood is a function of the Microsoft browsing service. Any problems are usually because the PC or master browsers do not function properly. Network Neighborhood is officially not supported. However, it works if configured correctly. Browsing Network Neighborhood works by obtaining the browse list from either a master or backup browser. This list is obtained locally on your LAN by using NetBIOS Broadcasts to locate domain browsers.
    Inorder to resove this :
    Make sure you have NetBIOS over TCP enabled on the adapter that you use to connect to the domain.

  • Problems with VPN-Client 5.0 instoled on Windows Vista over ADSL Conecction

    Hi, I have severals clients that they use Windows Vista and connects throw there lan over a VPN-Client. The clients that has an ADSL connection in there hose has disconect problems. Do you know why?? Do you know same workarround to do?? Thanks.
    Regards.

    Make sure that you have the right cable pinout and that your ISP has turned on the DSL service. Troubleshoot the DSL connection by watching the modem state of the ADSL interface as the line retrains.
    To use the VPN Client, you need
    - Direct network connection (cable or DSL modem and network adapter/interface card), or
    - Internal or external modem

  • Problem with implementing license in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2

    Goodday,
    For Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 I downloaded an license from the license portal.
    This concerns a eval/demo license, for an demo of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2.
    When selecting the the type of license you get a few options, from which I selected the basic, advanced and lifecycle evaluation licenses. This is the type of license that is required for our demo.
    After completing the wizard I can download en implement the license.
    Until this point everything goes as it supposed to be.
    When i go to the Prime Infrastructure 2.2 appliance (running on VMWare ESXi 5.5.0).
    When I go to the license section in Cisco Prime Infrastructure I can implement the license, however if I implement the .lic file I get the error “Unknown feature (PI_VM)”.
    I have done implementing license files before, but this is the first time i encounterd this problem.
    Who can help me with this error?
    Regards,
    Dennie Verhoeven

    Hi Dennie,
    PI2X-BASE-LF-AS-US-VM-N-EVAL-90   >> I think you have used this product name while generating the license
    Either you try generating a new license or  contact cisco license team to generate a new license
    with the information  like below ::
    Product Name                : R-PI2X-K9
        Product Description         : R-PI2X-K9:R-PI2X-K9 : Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x
        Product Qty                 : 1
        UDI                        : PID: PRIME-NCS-VAPL  SN: ANY:ANY
    Serial no : with ANY:ANY will work as  starting from PI 2.2 , there is no node locking with license.

  • Problems with A/V chat, Cisco 2600 routers and more...

    Don't really know where to start...
    First some error messages:
    2005-11-17 12:38:03 +0300: AA AA did not respond.
    Tried to send UDP SIP-«invite» to the following IP-addresses and ports:

    Tried to send UDP SIP-«invite» to the following IP-addresses and ports:

    I live in rural Tanzania and are trying to help out the local ISP to get AIM/iChat to work properly.
    I've made a picture to illustrate the system, found at:
    http://homepage.mac.com/nummelin/musoma/PhotoAlbum34.html
    I can text chat without any problem.
    Cases:
    1.) I've had luck in calling up user CC CC within the local ISP using iChat but he failes to call me up. (Not sure if he was succesful in turning off his MAC's firewall.)
    2.) The PC (AA AA) in Fig. 1 (found at the link above) have had some success in connecting to me with AV using the AIM client. He's getting the status that we're connected and he can see his picture but my picture is not showing at his end and I just get the message that he didn't respond.
    3.) With BB BB I have had no luck with anything except with text messages and file transfers. (Which also seem to be working as it should with all clients.)
    4.) Connecting with home (Europe) and the US haven't been a problem, but I've noticed somtimes that I can't invite but the other way around works.
    Sumary: Using iChat/AIM A/V within my ISP's net is not working, A/V with users outside of my ISP is working.
    Settings:
    The Firewall setting of my router can be seen at fig. 2 (same link as earlier.)
    All Firewalls have been turned off on all computers (except CC CC where I don't know the status.) when trying to connect with AV.
    So, is the problem the cisco routers...?
    If so, how to change/check the settings/open up the correct ports?
    My ISP have pretty good knowledge of Linux and are of course working with the Cisco router but is not very experienced with it.
    The ISP is using NAT, must admit I don't really get what that is.
    Anyone experienced Cisco users around here?
    Any tips/hints here will be much appritiated.
    I'm just a geek who likes how's, why's and because's...
    Kwa heri na asante sana!

    Used a little different setup today. You can see it here . (Fig.3)
    I did some experimenting using Trillian and AIM on the PC with the following results:
    iChat-Trillian
    Mac-> Pc Video Chat yes
    Pc->Mac Video Chat no
    Mac->Pc Tlf. Yes
    Pc->Mac Tlf. No
    Mac-> Pc File transf. Yes
    Pc->Mac File tranesf. Yes
    Mac->Pc Direct connect yes
    Pc->Mac Direct connect kind of...the picture never shows, just the path on the client it was sent from, like c:/desktop/mysecrets/microcraft.jpg
    iChat-AIM
    Mac-> Pc Video Chat An unknown error occurred
    Pc->Mac Video Chat Yes {AOL} is shown
    Mac->Pc Tlf. n/a
    Pc->Mac Tlf. n/a
    Mac-> Pc File transf. yes
    Pc->Mac File transf. yes
    Mac->Pc Direct connect yes
    Pc->Mac Direct connect yes
    Trillian is behaving in a similar way from my experiences with other macs. I'll have to try that too of course. What's strange here is how different the PC clients are working. I've also tried switching the IP's on the machines with the exact same results. Is the software the actual problem? I'll just have to get that other mac to find out...arghh, too tired right now Zzzzzzzzz.....
    If the service to me is NATed? Yes
    and the rest... Well the ISP is convinced that it is the Cisco routers, but having their mail server hacked they are (still) busy figuring that out...
