Problem with VPN Client and network access

We are running VPN client 4.0.1 on our laptops, and there are a number of users who are getting documents they are using on the internal network (off VPN) corrupted. The initial cause seemed to be the stateful firewall, but I have that turned off, and we are still getting it.
It only seems to be on the machines with VPN client installed, and it is only happening when the user is working on a file direct from the network drive. They are not connecting via the VPN client when the problem occurs.
any suggestions?
William.

Did you get any joy with this ? We seem to be having the same issue.
Thanks

  • WRV200 - Problems with VPN Client and Internal network access

I have a WRV200 router and want to access the internal (Private Network) connected on the inside. I have successfully conected to the router with the Linksys VPN Client, but it does not appear to allow access to the internal network.
How do I enable NAT Transversal or Passthru? I have already selected all of the PPTP, L2TP and IPSEC Pass Through.
Has anyone gotten this to work?

I have actually gotten this to work. Issues surround this include the ability to get to the VPN if the main DNS is down (it does not fail over to the next DNS in the list).
If you unselect all of the boxes in the firewall General configuration, you can connect, but if you need to have all of this unchecked, what's the sense of having it?
Anyway, you can use the DoS Prevention, this is not interfering.

  • Cisco ASA 8.3(1) with VPN Client and IP Communicator - one way communication

    Hi Community.
I have a strange problem with my setup and I'm pretty sure it's either some type of routing (or NAT) or just a missing rule allowing the traffic. But I'm now at a point where I'd like to request your help.
I have some remote access users who have the Cisco IP Communicator (CIPC) installed on their notebooks. So:
VPN user with CIPC <> ASA Firewall <> Voice Router <> CCM <> IP Phone
The VPN works fine for any other traffic. Also the basic connection for the IP Communicator works fine. It get's connected to the CallManager, is shown as registered and you even can call an internal phone and also external phones. BUT: while you can hear the called party (so the internal phone) it doesn't work for the other way. There is no sound coming from the remote/caller.
I already figured out that it's also not possible to ping from the VPN phone to the internal IP Phone subnet. While the VPN user can ping any other device in the internal network, he can't do it to the Cisco IP Phones. But if the VPN phone calls a none-internal phone (mobiles...) - it works!
My thought is that the call can't be build up correctly between the VPN phone and the internal phone.
I found similiar situations with google but they are all for the other way around: call to internal works, but not to VPN.
    What do you think?

    Hi,
Typically ASA lists specific networks to the VPN Client when Split Tunnel is used.
This would mean that there is a Split Tunnel ACL used in the ASA configurations for this VPN connection which needs to have the missing network added for the traffic to be tunneled to the VPN connection.

  • How to configure full tunnel with VPN client and router?

I know the concept of split tunnel....Is it possibe to configure vpn client and router full tunnel or instead of router ASA? I know filter options in concentrators is teher options in ISR routers or ASA?

I think it is possible. Following links may help you

Sometimes the vpn can be vreated using the iPhone or iPad vpn client...

I am having a simuliar issue with my ASA 5505 that I have set up. I am trying to VPN into the Office. I have no problem accessing the Office network when I am on the internet without the ASA 5505. After I installed the 5505, and there is internet access, I try to connect to the Office network without success. The VPN connects with the following error.

  • Problem with VPN Client passthrough on ASA 5505

I am having a problem with passing through a VPN client connection on an ASA 5505. The ASA is running version 8 and terminates an anyconnect VPN. The ASA is using PAT. When the inside user connects with the VPN client, it connects but no traffic passes through the tunnel. I see the error
305006 regular translation creation failed for protocol 50 src INSIDE:y.y.y.y dst OUTSIDE:x.x.x.x
UDP 500,4500 and ESP are allowed into the ASA. Ipsec inspection has also been setup on a global policy, but the user still cannot pass traffice to the remote VPN he is connected through.
At the Main Office we have an ASA 5510 that terminates a site to site VPN, allows remote connections with PAT and allows passthrough no problems. Any ideas?

  • Problem with Virtual PC and Network Connection - VPC gets disconnected

    Hi,
I've been having a few problems with a virtual computer and its network connection.  I've set up a few computers the same way over the years and they all work fine except this one.  We use the Virtual PC and XP mode to access our data from an older
program.  The databases are on a server, which are accessed as a mapped drive.  Every once in a while (with no particular pattern, sometimes it doesn't happen all day, sometimes it happens every 5 mins), the VPC gets disconnected from the network,
my program returns a file read error and then everything is frozen.  When I try to ipconfig/release and renew, it releases correctly then it won't renew.  I need to shut down the VPC from the Win7 task manager and even so, it doesn't shut it down,
even when I try to kill the vpc process.  The only way it'll come back up is if I restart the computer.  The network connection on the Win7 computer doesn't do that.
Is there anything I can do to fix this ?
    Thanks,
    Melanie

    Hi,
Does it become more stable now, actually, I'm afraid that this issue is not related with the drive letter or name. Since you're using bridge mode, the I would suggest you use NAT as a test, it is the default network configuration, which allows the VM
to leverage the external TCP/IP network connected to the host. This is very useful if you regularly move the host computer between different network configurations. NAT is the preferred networking option when there is a shortage of IP addresses, a need to
ensure the VM’s IP address is not targetable from an external network, or a need for connecting using WWAN.

  • Problems with VPN-Client 5.0 instoled on Windows Vista over ADSL Conecction

Hi, I have severals clients that they use Windows Vista and connects throw there lan over a VPN-Client. The clients that has an ADSL connection in there hose has disconect problems. Do you know why?? Do you know same workarround to do?? Thanks.
    Regards.

Make sure that you have the right cable pinout and that your ISP has turned on the DSL service. Troubleshoot the DSL connection by watching the modem state of the ADSL interface as the line retrains.
To use the VPN Client, you need
    - Direct network connection (cable or DSL modem and network adapter/interface card), or
    - Internal or external modem

  • Complex Problem with Time Capsule and Network

I have setup an airport network based on a 500 gb Time Capsule which for about a year was working perfectly. Last days some problems came up. The network is shared to 2 different macbooks pro. The first macbook pro works perfectly, the internet connection is stable and fast. The other macbook works weird: Although it finds the network the internet speed is very slow and not stable. Also it can't backup on the time capsule as it used to do (msg: can't find the server). Ι have the same network settings for both the macbooks pro and I had several times restart and reset the time capsule.
    Thanks in Advance
    Costas

I suspect that you are using someone else's airport connection. That would let you access the internet, but not access your file server. go to the airport menu and make sure that you are using your airport connection.
If that does not work, does everything work well when the computer is within a few feet of the time capsule?

  • WiFi problem with iOS 6 and network login screen

Here is a detail problem description:
Equipment: iPad 3 with iOS 6
Environment: corporate network with a login screen that requires login every 24 hours.
What happens: The very first time I tried to login into the network everything worked fine. The login screen showed up (as always did with iOS 5) as expected. But, the login screen does NOT come after 24 hours (when re-login is required), unless I will reboot the iPad (using the 2 buttons), or I will reset the network settings (which again does a reboot). Switching on-off the WiFi, or any other remedy does NOT work.
The problem is not related to the network or the particular iPad or iPhone. All iPads and iPhones with iOS 5.2 or earlier work just fine. Only the ones with iOS 6 have this issue.
I would appreciate any creative idea to resolve the issue. Thank you.

iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Problem with HP printer and Network

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and HP 8600 wireless printer.  I'm using an airport extreme base station.
I'm having trouble with network connectivity and wondered if the printer is the culprit--many times after printing, I lose my network connection completely.
I've tried updating base station software, computer software updates, re-booting the base station, etc., but nothing seems to permanently solve the problem.
    Would appreciate any insights.
    Thanks

Sounds like this could be an issue with the software. To start I want to be sure that we remove the software fully and correcty before we continue. Follow the instructions below and see what happens after.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
find and install the FULL FEATURE SOFTWARE if it is available :
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3692888
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

  • Problems with text messages and internet access

I have an Apple 5c and over the last few weeks my text messages to most people had not been completing the send. Now, in addition, I am not receiving most messages and I can't access the internet for most apps (like maps, yahoo search, youtube). Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to go about fixing it?

Try removing then reinserting the SIM card -

It may just need a refresh to reconnect to the network again.

  • NLS_LANG with Instant Client and MS Access

    Hello Everybody.
Recently I downloaded Oracle Instant Client 10.1.0.3. I made a custom instalation for my little Access (ODBC)application.
In the begining the installation had not any other configuration than PATH Environment variable and ODBC basic DLL paramaters. That configuration worked very well for some minutes, until I realized that some rows in my linked tables appeared as #DELETED.
I made a little web-based investigation on the Microsoft and Oracle web site and I arrived to the NLS_LANG parameter. I realized it was my problem because I have Latin American characters in my rows and those rows were the "#DELETED" row I saw in my tables.
I did "select * from NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS" and that command showed AMERICAN and WE8DEC as NLS_CHARACTERSET.
I set the NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 and the problem disapeared.
My question is: Is that the correct configuration in this case?
PD:I'am using Win XP Pro in Spanish.
    Thanks

    Hi,

  • Problem with masked SSID and network connect

I recently purchased, and am discussing the HP Photosmart 6510 All in one product.
I have read, and verified that your product does not permit connection to masked (non broadcast) SSID networks.
I would appreciate you making a software change to support masked SSID networks. It seems unreasonable for me to be forced to lesson my security (it's hard to attack or connect if you don't know it is there) posture to enable wireless printing. The printer software allows you to enter an network SSID manually, so the only change needed is to enable connection to a masked SSID in the same way that a computer, or a gaming console (WII) does.
Masking the SSID is a standard bit of functionality for network routers, so much so that every device (smart phones, gaming consoles and laptops) that I have connected all support the recognition and connection to a manually entered, masked SSID.
Your software/firmware should support all standard functionality for wireless use if it is advertised as a wireless device.

Let's try again. I wasn't asking for anyone's opinion regarding the efficacy of using a standard, provided bit of Wireless network functionality. It would be a mistake to assume that this is the only security method I employ, but masking simply makes it so that the other 3 networks on my block are the ones with a "welcome sign" out.
ALL my other network supporting appliances support SSID masking.
When will you change the software/firmware to support this standard feature (regardless of how you feel about it)?
