Problem: workflows cancel each other

Hi all,
I'm facing a strange problem right now, probably some fundamental misunderstanding about how workflows work. :-(
My hr-system exports data to a database-resource with a change-flag and I run active sync to detect changes. This is the source for attributes like firstname, lastname, etc.
Works as expected.
However, I provision to an Active Directory, which generates attributes like email-address, so this Active Directory is my source for some specific attributes like the preferred email-address. I use active sync, which works as expected.
Sounds good? Hmmm, not really.
Currently, I get updates from hr, process them through active sync and provision data to active directory which in turn creates an active sync event for the active directory resource, even before processing of the original hr-update is completed. That process is suspended for one minute (workitem with timeout) for replication to take place and in that minute the active directory update is detected....
When all is said an done, both update-workflows are cancelled and do not complete as expected. The second one (active directory-triggered) complains about a locked user account, which is perfectly ok. But I expected that process to wait for the lock to expire? And why is the hr-based workflow never resumed properly and disappers?
Currently I just have no idea what's going on and how to synchronize those workflows in a way that makes both of them complete (and succeed).
Any ideas anybody?

this is precisely what I expected, but not what I see. :-(
So, let's say there are resources "HR" and "AD", then according to my naming conventions I create users "ASuserHR" and "ASuserAD" and forms "myASformHR" and "myASformAD". Further I had to create special workflows "myWFupdateHR" and "myWFupdateAD".
Now, there is a change in "HR" for user "testuser" and ASuserHR processes this changes, starts the workflow "myWFupdateHR" which performs enableUser on resource "AD" and then suspends by creating a workitem for "Configurator" with a timeout of one minute to wait for replication. I can see this happening in the audit-log and consider assigning the workitem to ASuserHR in the future.
Then "AD" triggers and user "ASuserAD" tries to access "testuser", which is locked, so ASuserAD fails. I can see this happening in the audit-log.
In my testlab usually everything continues as expected, but in production frequently ASuserHR just fails to complete the workflow. I've only been able to watch such a behaviour once in my testlab (yesterday late, after my original posting) and discovered a server-task owned by ASuserHR which said "failed with errors" and "could not access testuser, which is locked by ASuserAD".
So it looks like the user is locked by ASuserHR first but somehow it can happen (sometimes) that ASuserAD creates a conflict. I'll try to reproduce the situation again (perhaps I can find the reason it only happens sometimes), but I'm rather baffled.
Regarding my environment: production is sun idm 8.0p11 and test ist oracle waveset 8.1.1p3

Roles Cancelling Each Other

I have 2 roles that allows a user to create certain order types using tcode IW31:
- Role1 can create order type Z1, Z2, Z3.
- Role2 can only create order type ZT.
Used to be that these roles go to different group people, never together. We now want to give both roles to the same people. But during testing we are finding out that both roles are cancelling the other's authorizations.
If we assign both roles to the same user, the expected outcome is that he should be able to create all 4 order types( Z1, Z2, Z3, ZT). Unfortunately, this is not the case... When the user is creating any of the Z1, Z2, or Z3 order types, he is getting the error message "No authorization for ordertype Z1 in planning plant 1000". Then when he creates a ZT order type, he is also getting the same error "No authorization for order type ZT in planning plant 1000".
Have any of you encountered this problem? How did you resolve it? Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

Roles don't normally cancel each other. You were not meant to give a trick answer back
I had my bets on customizing completeness for the plants but am not so sure now. Actually, I don't know. But I will think about it.
Perhaps try drop an SU53 into the error to see exactly what was requested in the last failed authority-check before the error, and what the user has in the authorizations when Role1 and Role2 are assigned?
Then trace the Role1-only user and compare what is checked. There is a usefull feature in the trace to jump to the source code location of the check. The answer is most likely there (also check whether the source code location is the same location as the both-roles-assigned user. It might, for some reason, be finding that the user is authorized for all possible values of the order type field, and therefore sharpening the checks on the planning plant field at some other location.
It might even be in an EXIT which has been activated for some reason coding of the role with an authority-check in it which does not like the other role at all and throws this message to say "bugger off, you should not be here if you have any other authority, or too much authority". Checking for EXITs would be my second bet then.
But that is just "not-logged-on-guessing" from me.

Problem with sharing each others text messages

So my son and I both have iphones and we think we hit something when we were updating to ios 7 that made our phones both recieve each others texts. How do we get it back to normal?

Are you both signed in to iCloud using the same Apple ID? If so, you need to get separate Apple IDs. Of course one of you could keep the one you are both using now.

Is there a way to have 2 or more text boxes and not have them cancel each other out?

In the past you could overlap text boxes, but now when I place a text box to close to another it will completely make the other disappear. Is there something I need to change in my pages setting to allow this function, or do I just need to use the iWork 09?

ANSWER:
-click "Format" (the paint brush on the top right hand side of the window)
-click "Arrange" (3rd box on the top right hand side of the window)
-Under "Text Wrap" you will see a drop down menu that defaults to "Automatic"
-click "Automatic" and select "None"
You will have to do this for each text box. Once thats done you can move the boxes as close as you want.

Multiple sounds cancelling each other out

Hi all,
I've got a little problem and hopefully someone will know
what I'm talking about here...
I have a music track in my movie which I want playing the
whole time and then various different voice over tracks which come
in at certain points in the movie. I load the music with
attachSound and it starts playing fine. Then I load the first voice
clip into an object with a different name and it plays just fine
over the music. The problem comes, however, when I go to play the
second voiceover clip. It completely cuts out the music track, for
no apparent reason! It's always the second voiceover, irrespective
of which clip I play or where it appears on the timeline.
Any thoughts?

OK folks well against the odds and despite all the time I've
spent talking to myself on this board I've solved the problem. I
didn't find it anywhere on the web - I figured it out myself - and
so I'll post the answer here for completeness and so hopefully
someone else will be able to benefit from it in the future.
The trick is that when you set the volume on a sound object
you are actually setting the volume on the movieclip that it's in.
So if you attach your sound to _root and then setVolume on that
sound, you are effectively setting the volume for the _root
movieclip (ie the whole flash movie). You need to either create a
new movieclip in the library and attach the sound in that or use
createEmptyMovieClip() to make one on the fly with actionscript.
Once it is created you need to refer to it when you create
the sound object. Here's some example code:

Snow Leopard Mail - Bouncing Icon/Play Sound Rules Cancel Each Other Out

I recently saw a movie which featured many closeups of a MacBook Pro being used; every time the actor got an e-mail message, the Mail icon bounced in the Dock AND played the New Message Sound. In the current version of Snow Leopard Mail, you can create a Rule to 'Bounce Icon in Dock' when a new message is received. Unfortunately, this disables the New Message Sound. When the user adds another Rule to 'Play Sound', this rule disables the 'Bounce Icon in Dock' feature. At this point, both Rules display as being active, but only one of them works. Anyone know how to get both the New Message Sound AND the bouncing icon? (The actor was able to do it in the movie, but maybe that was just special effects.)

PROBLEM
Apple will not replace, as promised, the iPhone 5 (A1429 GSM model) that they gave me in London, UK, with an iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model).
BACKGROUND
My iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model) was purchased this year in September on an existing Verizon Wireless (VZW) line using an upgrade. The purchase took place in California and the product was picked up using Apple Personal Pickup through the Cerritos Apple Retail Store. I will refer to this phone at my "original" phone.
The original phone was taken into the Apple Store Regent Street in London, England, UK on November 15, 2012. The reason for this visit was that my original phone's camera would not focus.
The Apple Store Regent Street verified there was a hardware problem but was unable to replace the part.
The Apple Store Regent Street had me call the US AppleCare. At first they denied support, but then a supervisor, name can be provided upon request, approved the replacement of my original phone with an iPhone 5 (A1429 GSM model) as a temporary solution until I got back in the US. And approved that the GSM model would be replaced with a CDMA model when I came back to the US. I will refer to the GSM model as the "replacement". They gave me the case number --------.
The Apple Store Regent Street gave me the replacement and took the original. The first replacement did not work for reasons I do not understand. They switched out the replacement several times until they got one that worked on the T-Mobile nano SIM card that I had purchased in England, UK. Please refer to the repair IDs below to track the progression of phones given to me at the Apple Store Regent Street:

On November 19, 2012, I went to France and purchased an Orange nano SIM card. The phone would not activate like the first two repair IDs above.
On November 24, 2012, I went to the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps. The Genius told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault. They had me call the AppleCare UK.
My issue was escalated to a tier 2 UK AppleCare agent. His contact information can be provided upon request. He gave me the case number -----------.
The UK tier 2 agent became upset when he heard that I was calling from France and that the France Apple Store or France AppleCare were not helping me. He told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault.
The UK tier 2 agent said he was working with engineers to resolve my problem and would call me back the next day on November 25, 2012.
While at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps, a Genius switched the phone given to from repair ID ----------- with a new one that worked with the French nano SIM card.
Also, while at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps, I initiated a call with AppleCare US to get assistance because it seems that AppleCare UK was more upset that France was not addressing the issue rather than helping me. I have email correspondance with the AppleCare US representative.
A Genius at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps switched the replacement with a new GSM model that worked on the French SIM card but would not work if restored, received a software update, or had the SIM card changed. This is the same temporary solution I received from the Apple Store Regent Street in the UK.
By this point, I had spent between 12-14 hours in Apple Store or on the phone with an AppleCare representative.
Upon arriving in the US, I went to my local Apple Store Brea Mall to have the replacement switched with a CDMA model. They could not support me. He told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault. My instructions were to call AppleCare US again.
My call with AppleCare US was escalated to a Senior Advisor, name can be provided upon request, and they gave me the case number -----------. After being on the phone with him for over an hour, his instructions were to call the Apple Store Regent Street and tell them to review my latest notes. They were to process a refund for a full retail priced iPhone 5 64BG black onto my credit card so that I could use that money to buy a new iPhone 5 64GB black at the Apple Store Brea Mall to reoslve the problem.
The Apple Store Regent Street did not process my refund. He, name can be provided upon request, told me that the AppleCare US did not do a good job reviewing my case, that they were incapable of getting to the bottom of it like they were, and instructed me to call AppleCare US and tell them to review this case number and this repair id. I asked if he read the notes from the AppleCare US Senior Advisor and he would not confirm nor deny. When I offered to give him the case number he accepted but it seemed like would do no good. Our call was disconnected. When I tried calling back the stores automated system was turned on and I could not get back through.
Now I have the full retail price of an iPhone 5 64GB black CDMA on my credit card and Apple will not process the refund as they said they would.
I've, at this point, spent between 14-16 hours at Apple Stores or on the phone with AppleCare representatives, and still do not have the problem resolved.
SOLUTION
AppleCare US and AppleCare Europe need to resolve their internal family issues without further impacting their customers.
Apple is to process a refund to my credit card for the cost of a full retail priced iPhone 5 64GB black.
DESIRED OUTCOMES
I have an iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model) that works in the US on VZW as it did before I received the replacement phone in the UK.
Apple covers the cost of the solution because I did not create the problem.
Apple resolves their internal issue without costing me more time, energy, or money.
This becomes a case study for AppleCare so that future customers are not impacted like I have been by their support system.
Does anyone have recommendations for me?

Thanks, but I've been on the phone with AppleCare US (where I am and live) and AppleCare UK. They continue bouncing me back and forth without helping resolve the problem.
Perhaps someones knows how to further escalate the issue at Apple?

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Having problems with text, lines overlap each other

Good Afternoon, I am having problems in pages, address book, text Edit. In pages and text edit the lines overlap each other and in address book I cannot read clearly the information of my contact because line also overlap. Does anyone knows how can I arrange this?

Deleted me as a contact and then rebooted, then she text me and I text her back and I went right into the Spam again. I told her to tell TMobile this so then can maybe help and remove my number from Spam on their end.\

Problems with seeing computers on the network map but they are not able to connect with each other

Hi All,
We have 6 HP pavillion Slimline s3620f PCS(Pentium Dual COre ED200) with 10/100 and wireless connections. They are running Windows Vista Home 64. We are also trying to connect a macbook, a laptop with vista 32, and a a mac with win xp running via bootcamp. We upgraded to the WRT160Nv2 for wireless access.
We have the cable modem connected to the router. The router is connected to a switch. On the network map, all connections are working/green(can access internet). Before this, in the vista network map each computer could connect to the other. NOw each computer can only connect to the router and one particular other computer. Each computer lists itself and that one particular other computer and the router. If I look at the full map, all are listed but they cannot connect to each other.
I hope this makes sense. Any suggestions?

Do your contacts exist individually elsewhere? If not, you're stuck. If you have the contacts elsewhere (email, Outlook, FaceBook), one of you can turn off your iCloud contacts and elect to remove them from the iPhone. Your partner needs to do the same so that the list of combined contacts ceases to exist. Have your partner dlete the current account (from the iPhone) and then generate a separate iCloud account. After that, you can each restore contacts from individual sources.

Two Photos in Book above each other, not next to

the "Layout" feature allows only to present two photos on a page next to each other, but not one above the other (if they are more "panorama"-kind-of-photos).
Is there any possibiliy to change that?

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

My iPod and iTunes seem to hate each other

They're just not hitting it off. They don't like talking to each other, both seem prone to going into long electronic sulks, and chucking crockery at each other can only be round the corner.
Ok, serious head on for full story. Short version: iTunes 7 won't sync with our 4th generation iPod. Sometimes it won't sync at all. Other times it'll get to a certain point and gets stuck on a particular song, and Force Quitting iTunes is the only way we can eject it safely so none of the songs end up on the iPod. Very frustrating when you've got up to 941 out of 5000 plus songs. Along the way we've tried the five Rs, had various unknown error messages (1428 seems to be a favourite), and had the folder + ! sign (now gone again).
The long version: Got a new car stereo that's iPod compatible right out of the box, and we felt that having our entire music collection on tap was more appealing than faffing around with a CD changer. The Mac we bought a few months ago had iTunes 6, and other than locking up a few times it was happy to import 300+ CDs. So far, so good.
Next step, we got a second hand iPod, and this is where the aggro started. It's a 4th Gen 60GB model, and we immediately ran into difficulties because it had been used with a Windows PC. iTunes 6 didn't want to know, so looked online and found we needed to update to iTunes 7. Did that, only to find we then needed to update OSX as well. At this point I started getting all misty eyed and nostalgic for the old Windows PC - I mean I've still got ancient Win95 stuff that worked ok on Win2K. I really didn't expect this much aggro when we switched to Mac. Anyhoo, did the OSX update (which took days since there's no broadband available where we live), and finally we could get the iPod plugged in. Needed to do a restore on the drive, but that went smoothly. Then we went out and left it syncing.
Sinking more like. It got stuck on the 941st song not long after we got home, and while we were looking we got an error message saying we'd disconnected it without ejecting first. We hadn't touched the iPod, which was still sat in is dock, but as far as it was concerned it had been pulled out. Which meant that we needed to restore it. Again. Which it didn't want to do. After many attempts we found that forcing it into disc mode allowed us to restore it properly. Then tried to sync again, but only with one album to kick off with. That worked ok, so we tried another 2 albums. Got stuck again halfway through the second, but we were able to eject it semi-properly so that resetting worked. At this rate 20+GB of music is going to take so long to get through that our furniture will be antiques before we're done. Nnnnnnnnnnn.
Next attempt got to just over 800 songs synced before it got stuck again. This time it left the Mac completely unresponsive, which meant another restore. After that I went beck to trying one album at a time. One went on okay, the next stuck on the first song. At this point we've given up trying to suss it out ourselves and have come here for help. Is it worth trying iTunes 6 again? 7 has locked up the computer when the iPod wasn't even in the dock, and although this happened a couple of times when we were importing CDs into iTunes 6 I wonder if the older version might be more stable. What else can we try that we haven't had a go at already?

Just wondering if you managed to resolve the issue? i'm suffering from the exact same problems-my shuffle works on everyone else's computer but not my notebook, which is new as well. everything is fine until i try to add songs then it just freezes. After a while it says cannot read from or write to disk. if i try to restore it, it takes hours or says there is an error. i have literally tried everything and even been sent a new one from apple. it's driving me crazy. please help anyone!
