Problems by connecting to a progress database with MII

Hello Forum!
I'm using MII V 12.1.4. I am trying to create a connection to a progress database V9.1E.
I have uploaded and deployed the jar-file containing the jdbc driver. After activating the new connection the status of it is on error. In the log viewer of MII are this entries:
- Warning: Unable to fill connection pool for jdbc:jdbcprogress:T:mefass:9920:fcheck
- Warning: Unable to detemermine maximum number of connections from JDBC driver
- Warning: Unable to fill connection pool for jdbc:jdbcprogress:T:mefass:9920:fcheck
- Warning: Created Connection pool [jdbc:jdbcprogress:T:mefass:9920:fcheck]:
- Error: Unable to get a connection from the pool
- Error: Unable to get a connection from the pool
[EXCEPTION]
java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method java.sql.Connection.createStatement() of an object loaded from local variable 'conn'  ...
I am sure that the settings of the connection aren't false because I have checked them many times.
Does anyone has an idea what can cause this error messages? Has anyone allready tried to connect to a progress database?
Thanks for your help!
Frank

Hello to everyone
I must access a Progress Database from an Oracle Database, but I dont want to use some extra files (like .txt or something like that).
I found to solutions:
- to make some changes using Heterogeneous Services agents;
- to use ODBC its seems to me to strange.
Do you have any recommendations?
Somebody have an alternative idea?

I'm trying to do the same thing. I should have a answer by friday but I'm having a hard time getting information on how to configure the gateway.

  • Unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver

I am unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver vers.2.573.4202.00 on a Win98 computer.
First, I create a "Net Service Name" in order for the ODBC Driver to find the Oracle server. I then created a System DSN in the ODBC Data Source Administrator and assigned the "Net Server Name" as the server in the "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Setup". But when I test this DSN with Oracle's provided "Oracle ODBC 32Bit Test vers.2.5.3.1.0" I get an error:
    SQLSTATE: NA000
    Native Error Code:0
    Driver Message:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]
This error occurred on all three Win98 computers I have tried. It does however, seem to work fine on WinNT 4.0, and believe it or not, on the two Win95 computers I have tried.
Does anyone have any fixes, recomendations, or advice?
    Thank you,
    Eric Edwards

Why are yu not using the Oracle ODBC driver - these can be downloaded from OTN.
Have you set up a tnsnames.ora entry for the Oracle database you want to connect to? Does this name have a domain name added to it? Check %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\tnsnames.ora for the service name. If it is a name of the form :
    name.domain.subdomain
then you should try using this full name when configuring the ODBC data source.

We cannot help if you don't give us the error number that you get.
Also something that you might want to do is to search this error number on OTN.

  • Two Connection Pools In One Database With Two Phisical Schema

I have a database with 2 physical schemas. Each physical schema has a different username and password. So i must create a second connection pool. But i have the problem that physical schemas don't understand which connection pool to use. How can i coincide each physical schema to its connection pool automatically.
    Regards

You need two Physical databases each with its own Connection Pool, within that database will be a single Physical Schema.
Or you could have a single Database/Connection Pool if it has read access to both schemas.

  • Connecting to an oracle database with SQLPlus

I'm trying to connect from one CentOS server with SQLPlus installed to another CentOS server with Oracle installed.
    I've installed
    oracle-instantclient-basic-11.1.0.1-1.i386.rpm
    and
    oracle-instantclient-sqlplus-11.1.0.1-1.i386.rpm
    on the first server.
I'm able to connect to the oracle server via SQL Developer without difficulties.
When I try to connect to it via the command line with SQLPlus, I'm running the following:
    sqlplus savantdb@//192.168.100.37:1521/orcl
But all I'm getting back is something that reads like help documentation.
I've exported the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to point at /usr/lib/oracle/11.1.0.1/client/lib/:/lib
I've created a tnsnames.ora file in my home directory containing the following:
    orcl=
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS=
    (PROTOCOL=tcp)
    (HOST=drax)
    (PORT=1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA=
    (SERVICE_NAME=orcl)
Then I tried moving to my home directory and running
    sqlplus savantdb@orcl
This prompts for a password, then throws the following error:
    ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Then asks for a username/password, after which it throws the following error:
    ERROR:
ORA-12162: TNS:net service name is incorrectly specified
What I want to do is allow my unit tests written in Selenium and PHPUnit to make shell_exec calls to execute sql files to recreate the database from scratch before putting the application through its paces. So I need to make it totally non-interactive.
Can anyone give me a clue where I'm going wrong here?

You are mixing up the various naming methods. Try to stick to one!
Your first attempt sqlplus savantdb@//192.168.100.37:1521/orcl uses the so-called "easy connect" method.
That's actually not a bad idea, as it is fairly short and does not require a "tnsnames.ora" file, which is a pain in the somewhere or else.
sqlplus has a parsing problem if you don't enclose part of the string in double quotes. You cannot find that in the documentation, but in Metalink Note 274757.1.
    The syntax is like this:
    sqlplus savantdb@\"//192.168.100.37:1521/orcl\"
Your second attempt tries to use the TNS (local) naming method, but for that you need to have an environment variable TNS_ADMIN pointing to the directory containing "tnsnames.ora". It does not matter if that directory is your current directory or not. You don't need that if you use the method described above.
The last error message is because of the annoying behaviour of sqlplus to ask for username and password (for a local connection!) again if the first attempt failed.
You can avoid that by giving sqlplus the -L flag.
    Yours,
    Laurenz Albe
PS: If you want to "make it totally non-interactive" you should add a password, like
    sqlplus savantdb/password@//192.168.100.37:1521/orcl
In that case, you don't need to add the \"

  • Connect to a mysql database with Oracle 9i

    Hello,
how can I connect to a non_oracle-database in "Oracle 9i".
I created a ODBC data source. In Oracle8 I needed OCA. But in 9i I believe the OCA is replaced by another thing.
I wanted to connect in SQL*PLUS with:
    username/password@odbc:mysql
But I get the error: ora-03121 "no interface driver connected - function not performed".
How can I connect to another database?

I've solved the DW problem by changing the site folders from
'db' to 'wwwroot' e.g. 'C:\CFusionMX\db\' is now
    'C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\
However I'm now back to my original problem. I've lost my
mqysql connection in CF Adminstrator. Before I made these changes I
could connect to my mysql databases using the following settings:
    JDBC URL: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test
    Driver Name: MySQL Connector J
using the following Java path and file:
    C:\CFusionMX\wwwroot\WEB-INF\lib\mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar
Now these settings give me the following error:
"Connection verification failed for data source: javaserver
    []java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool
while attempting to connect, please check your username, password,
    URL, and other connectivity info.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: SQLException
occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your
username, password, URL, and other connectivity info"
Any suggestions on this would also be welcome.
Thanks again to everyone for their help.
    Sincerely,
    Graham A. Kerby

  • Problem in connecting to Oracle 8 database through Oracle 11g client ?

    Database : Oracle 8
    Client Machine :
    Oracle 11g
    Window7
    Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle
    Hi,
I am using Oracle 11g client to connect Oracle 8 database using Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle but I am getting error when after entered the password
    Run-time error '40002':
    IM006: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed
I am using VB6 application on Windows 7 and I created DSN using Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle but I got the above error when I try to connect to Database.
Please help me out on this that why this error is coming
    Thanks
    Amit Panwar

Provided its a 32-bit application, possibly. Microsoft ODBC for Oracle is discontinued and has no 64-bit version, so a 64-bit application won't be able to use it at all.
I do see it listed as a 32-bit ODBC driver on my Windows 7. The problem is that I think it relies on having an Oracle client installed on the machine, and you've got the same problem of Oracle client 11 not working with 8 server. You could try it and see if it works I suppose, or try installing an older client and see if that makes it work.
If it's just for testing purposes though you could throw up an Oracle XE server and test against that.

i am not getting this error. please help me out in this. i am suffering with this problem since 3 days.youe help will be appreciated
    thanks & regards

    Hi vasu,
Have you tried connecting with another user? If not, first try doing that (for instance with your user). If connection is succesful compare the users. I think this have something to do with the ALEREMOTE user. Might be an authorization issue.
Try with different users (maybe one with SAP_ALL).

Yes, the network connection could not be established. Like the error said.
What you're asking about is the exact reason, but that could be any number of things and not at all related to code. You could have the wrong host, the wrong port. A firewall could be blocking the outgoing connection, a firewall could be blocking the incoming connection. Etc. etc.

  • Problem staying connected to my Wireless Network with my HPPhotosmart e-All-in-One Printer - D110a

I just bought a new HP wireless printer replacing my old HP wireless printer which the wireless part worked fine, but the printing died.
New printer HPPhotosmart e-All-in-One Printer - D110a. I have installed and re-installed the software and drivers but can't get my printer to stay connected to my laptop. I have a Linksys "WRT54GL router but have the printer set with a static IP address. When I run tests on the computer and printer everything says it is fine. But every 30 seconds or so.. my printer goes offline on my computer and is especially noticeable when I am using the HP Solution center because it will keep blinking in the windows bar. I have talked to 4 technicians but no one can figure out what the problem is. They keep saying that it is on my end, but the old printer which was also an HP (Wireless 6150) never had any problems and I have not changed anything in my routing. Is anyone else having this kind of problem and has found a successful solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My computer is running Windows XP SP3
Currently my router has WEP encryption, but I tried them all just to see if that had anything to do with it. (WEP works best for me since I have some devices which can only use WEP to communicate).
    Thanks.

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). Yours is 192.18.1.100 to .149.  Let's use 192.168.1.200 for your printer.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Connection to OOD hosted database with Crystal Reports XI R2

Hi i'm quite new to Oracle and Crystal reports and trying to connect my Crystal Reports application to an instance of Oracle hosted by Oracle On Demand.
I'm not sure of how to do this and the Crystal documentation is very vague, has anyone done this or can someone give me some ideas of where to start. I've downloaded the latest Oracle Instant client as per the instructions and also the ODBC Instant client, but not sure how to configure the Crystal Reports.
    Can anyone help?

You need to make an ODBC connection to the database using Contol Panel> Admin tools-> Data sources. Select system DSN -> Add . U'll see a list of drivers. Select Oracle ODBC driver (which you can install using instant client). Don't select MS Oracle Driver. It often does not work with oracle!!!! In the next screen you'll need to enter the DB details you are trying to access. Hopefully, at this time your tnsnames file is properly setup and there is an enrty in tnsnames for the database you are trying to access. If this is done properl, you'll see the name of the database in the drop down Tns Service names. Select that entry. Test the connection. If the connection works, congrats! If not , check the tnsnames and driver install. If the connection works, close control panel. In Crystal reports, select 'New' to create new report, then either standard or cross tab report. Next screen will be for making database connections. Select 'Oracle Server' under make new connections and enter the details on the next screen about the connection (username, password and select name of the ODBC connection you created above). Hopefully it will work

  • Please explain how to connect to an Oracle database with CF9 standard

Can someone walk me through this process?  I am trying to help a group that upgraded frmo cf8 enterprise to cf9 standard.

    1. You'll need to download the Oracle JDBC Drivers (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/jdbc/index-091264.html)
    2. Put the appropriate .jar files in your <coldfusion>/lib folder
    3. Restart CF
    4. Create a Datasource using the "Other" option
    5. Create an appropriate connection string
    Examples:
    jdbc:oracle:thin:[USER/PASSWORD]@[HOST][:PORT]:SID
    jdbc:oracle:thin:[USER/PASSWORD]@//[HOST][:PORT]/SERVICE
It has been a long time since I have done this, but I have done it and know it works. I remember the issue with SID vs SERVICE being a huge PITA.
    Good luck,
